Alright, so who besides me has bought a few dozen booster packs from the various lines?

Where have you found them at? Any one you like more than the others?

Anyone going to get the upcoming Ships game? What about the Bounty Hunters and the current Legacy of the Force lines?

I bought some from Rebel Storm and Universe. I'll probably get some of the Bounty Hunters. It's too bad some of the rare figures run $20 or more. I can't justify forking out that much cash for one tiny figure.

RS had a news article that there was plans for a Rancor set similar to the AT-ST set, but it was postponed. I want the Rancor.

A week or so ago I traded in some of my Universe figures from EU and the prequels and got some loose minis from Rebel Storm and a Rebel Storm booster pack. Princess Leia was in the pack.

I've been lucky. I got lots of stormies in during Rebel Storm, and than lots of Clones and Super Battle Droids during Clone Strike. I passed on just about everything Sith but the Starter Set, and universe was the first time I actually "bought" a mini seperate, ended up purchasing 4 Viper Droids. I traded away a lot of Banthas, Jawas and Jedi amongst others for a handful of R2s. Now I see that the R5s will be uncommons, makes me wonder if there why there wasn't a common astromech and protocol droids before.

My fiancee is more excited about the upcoming ships than me. I am indifferent because I don't play the game but use them for RPG purposes and display. She'd gladly sell off my 3.75" stuff for all Titanium and minis (like that'll happen).

I'm complete on all of the sets but Universe (still need about 15 of them to complete the set). I plan on getting the BH set as well.

I used to be a big time player, but since that's kind of dried up in my parts, I just collect them now.

Oh and your right Rogue II, I can't see paying that much for a small fig either. Though I did begrudgingly on Boba from the first set. On average for rares and very rares, I pay anywhere from $3-10 depending on the character. Though I do look for deals and tend to wait until a set's been out for awhile before I go loking for the HTF stuff. I can't wait for the Ships set. But I think once that set comes out, I'll be done with these. Need to start pulling back sometime and this is one line I don't "need" to collect. Perhaps if there were still lpayers in me area and sponsored places to play, but those days have been gone for about 6 months at least now.

Oh, if anyone does what to see the newest set go here:

They just posted 16 links to bigger pics of the characters (though not hi-res you get the idea). Also there are 3 links to PDF files detailing the characters, their abilities, alignment, etc.

The only ones I have ever paid for "loose" are the Viper Droids from Universe. I just wanted 4 of them for display purposes.

Although I should update that pics since I painted some metal WotC minis, added older painted WEG minis, and bought 3 boxes of the Champions of the Force (and pretty much Sithing out with Palpy, Malek, Sith Troopers and some Dark Troopers).

Is this Bith going all Matrix? Pretty funny.

http://hardscribble.net/dantooine/images/minis/zoro_bh11.jpg

I'll buy a box or two and trade in the figures I don't want. The guys Comic book store near me are pretty cool about it. I think they recently got a case of Rebel Storm in.

Since I only collect OT 3.75" figures, I started buying minis because I wasn't getting the OT figure fix because '05 was a movie year.

Yeah, I think the plan is in each of the next series of minis is to make a variety alien of Black Sun Vigos. While not truely accurate it does make sense to have some Fringe midlevel commanders.

Well I trade in these and have most figures from most sets so if your after completing any let me know.

I have prices on my site as per below but if you are after a few drop me a line and i will see about doing a deal to help you out. Incedentilly do any of you play in the UK as I am trying to pull together more organised play in the UK for release events and championships but have some work to do on getting players!

The next one we are running is Bounty Hunters release event, we have WOTC on side for prize support and I am supporting the event with more exclusive prizes also.

I'm an Action Fleet & Micromachines fan so I got especially the Droids that appeared in the line. The figures are bit larger than Action Fleet so I passed but the droids are awsome even with the lack of features (since they are a from a game).

I'm underwhelmed by the bounty hunters set. Not great figure/character selection. Most have appeared in at least one other set (well it's been a while since Rebel Storm but still).

I'm really waiting for them to start rolling out the Starship Battles previews. The MonCal and the Executor look awesome. Problem is that the game is not to scale. In wizards rules speak: Fighters (less than 25 m), Transports (25-99m), Capital ships (99m), stations (1+km) are not in scale to each other and no plans to make it that way.

I bought a box of the Bounty Hunters, a Rebel Storm Ithorian Scout, and Rebel Storm C-3PO. The best one out of the box was Dengar. This weekend, I'm hoping to go to the comic book shop and trading in the Droid Tank, that Matrix looking Bith, and the assassin droid for some OT characters. I'd like to get the snowspeeder.

Right now, the price point is scaring me off from being too gung ho about these. ~$40 US for the starter, and the usual $20 for the boosters (since some of the ships are classified as "huge" in their scale). I'm interested to see how the sizes compare to the titaniums, because having the Battlestar Galactica and even Autobot Ark in the mix adds some nice RPG and even custom ship possibilities.

Anticlimatic because it's the Viscount and Executor, which are the two included in the game.

Interesting fanboy debate, they have the Executor listed at 19000m (or 19km). This corrects the 8x factor (well over compensates 12800) but is definitely more accurate than the 8km listed by most official sources until the past few years.

Actually they did according to the Imperial Source Book, Rebellion Era Sourcebook, Galaxy Guide 7, and Starships of the Galaxy. Also don't forget that Lucas Licensing had to aprove all the text/entries.

lucas licensing didnt read every word they just did a general overlook and said yes, Star Dreadnought the title only recently came around. It's been Super Star Destroyer since 1983. It always going to be Super Star Destroyer, at least saxton can't influence the games.

2 More ships up. A Naboo N-1 Fighter and Luke's T-65B, X-Wing.

Nothing new here, pretty much straight reprints of the ships statistics on the RPG front only with Luke as the pilot of an X-Wing around RotJ, although it still has the Red 5 Markings, and not that of Rogue Leader.

I wonder how long that they will be able to keep up the game. There just aren't that many vehicles in the universe. I know they can drag things out by making every Rogue Squadron pilot's individual fighter but with 60 ships per wave you will eat through them pretty quickly.

Their strategy is only to release a new "line" every quarter. This year, Universe was the spring, Champions of the Force the summer, Bounty Hunters minis were the fall wave, Starship Battles will be the winter. There will be another one starting early next year. I don't think there is any for the second slot because of the revamp/relaunch of the RPG with Saga Edition in March of that year.

I am looking at the Starship Battles as a different line. The regular figures have had 6 waves already. I just don't see the Starship Battles being able to duplicate that but perhaps they don't intend it to.

I just wonder if there is going to be any type of scale used with the ships. I mean WOTC can always use the molds from Micro Machines for the smaller starfighters, ie. x-wing, y-wing and TIE's but hopefully ships like Slave 1 and the millennium flacon will be slighty larger. Would also love to see some of the ships with movable parts, lockable and unlockabel s-foils, maybe even foldable wings for the Imperial Shuttle (if it gets made.)

From what I've seen and read there will be 2 scales, a starfighter/space transport scale and a capital ship scale. I doubt there will be any moving parts. None of the earlier minis have had anything but statues. That's helped keep the costs down. This is the priciest starter set to date, and the boosters are on par with any line that's included a Huge mini implying that one capital ship will be available per pack.

Anyone seen anything that resembles a list of the ships yet? We won't see one from WotC until at least Thanksgiving with the way the drip out previews and this thing as a rumored ship date of soon.

Well it is up on the SSG main page, but *yawn* A-Wing and Falcon. Nothing new or exciting on either the RPG or the game front because everyone could see these included. I want the nugget, the ship they threw in as a bone to the obscure EU, the cool thing on screen for 30 seconds etc.

pbarnard

Very curious to hold these to see how they relate in terms of the old micromachines since they are plastic. I wonder if the warping is due to the heat shrink they tend to bag their minis up in.

I understand their choice back with Rebel Storm to go with rubbery stuff as opposed to rigid plastic. They didn't want any breaking and these things are pretty much able to stand up to anything but fire, chemicals, and nuclear devices (although I need to check that last one). That was so people could play the game and have the characters/minis for years to come. They get an A for functionality/goal, but a C for likeness and sculpts most of the time.

11-27-2006, 03:19 PM
You know, if they're anything like Heroclix, the warps can be fixed EASY, I know it's not ideal to have to "correct" something you just shelled out bones for, but still, if the sculpts are good enough the actual products can be "perfected" by the owner- I have a horde of Heroclix and there's nothing stopping me from "unwarping" them :beard:Isobaws&

sergiurusu
12-01-2006, 01:46 AM
But is the unwarping resist in time? Because I tried with the older MicroMachines and nothing worked... Even tried the hot water trick

mabudonicus
12-01-2006, 09:26 AM
Not sure, I guess you have to hope they're made out of different "rubber", most Heroclix seem to hold their proper form if you monkey with 'em enough :beard:Isobaws&

I'm working on my set, but this is one set, I'm not actively looking to get the complete set of. I'm in it more for the capital ships, EU ships. I'm not picking up the starfighters, unless I can get them dirt cheap on eBay.

Here's what I have right now (some are pending or in transit with various deals I have going on, but I'm counting them towards my total as I should reciee them within the week):
# Name (Owned/P=Pending)
1 Mon Calamari Star Defender Viscount (1)
2 Mon Calamari Cruiser Home One (1/1p)
5 Republic Assault Ship (1/1p)
6 Venator-class Star Destroyer (1/2p)
8 Outrider (1p)
9 Rebel Cruiser (Medical Frigate) (2)
10 Rebel Transport (3)
11 Republic Cruiser (Reliant VII) (1p)
13 Wild Karrde (1p)
19 Jedi Starfighter (3p)
21 Naboo Starfighter (1)
22 Obi-Wanís Jedi Interceptor (1)
24 SoroSuub Patrol Fighter (2p)
25 Utapaun P-38 Starfighter (2p)
26 V-wing Starfighter (3p)
29 Y-wing Starfighter (1)
31 Super Star Destroyer Executor (1)
32 Banking Clan Frigate (2/5p)
33 Commerce Guild Destroyer (4/3p)
34 Imperial Interdictor Cruiser (2p)
36 Invisible Hand (1/1p)
37 Trade Federation Battleship (1/3p)
38 Trade Federation Droid Control Ship (1/1p)
44 Virago (1p)
45 Asajj Ventressís Starfighter (1p)
46 CloakShape Fighter (3p)
49 General Grievousís Starfighter (1p)
50 Geonosian Starfighter (1)
52 Scarab Droid Starfighter (4p)
53 Techno Union Starfighter (3p)
54 TIE Bomber (1)
59 Vulture Droid Starfighter (1)
60 Vulture Droid Starfighter Advanced (2p)

As you can see, a good many of these are either rares, capital ships or EU. The few starfighters I have were mostly from the Starter set, or really cheap deals on eBay.

There are TWO that elude me though. That's the Mon Cal MC-80 (#3) and the Imperial Star Destroyer. I'm not paying more than $4 for the MC-80. And while I've bid up to $11 on the Imp Star Destroyer, I can't win. It's crazy how much that its going for and how much people desire that ship. (I include myself with that craziness too...heh heh)

I have been able to fix warping to a degree by careful use of a blow dryer. So the deal can still happen. I just need to see the warping for myself to judge if it's "salvageble".

unfortunately I don't have access to a digital camera. the warping is around the front of the ship, it bends down slighty and is tilted as well. when you are looking at it head on it looks like the ship is about the break apart in battle.

excuse my ignorance as i'm not a gamer or collector of these things but one or two have caught my eye. the 'huge crab droid' and viper droid. I was just wondering what size these are. how tall are these items in comparison to hasbro's 3 3/4 figures? I keep seeing pics of the stuff everywhere but nothing that i can guage their size against

The huge crab droid mini is smaller than the crab droid toy that came out awhile ago. The Viper droid in relation to the figures is about the size of Ephont Mon maybe slightly shorter (going from memory here, but I know that's a close estimate).

hmm but if memory serves me right the hasbro ROS crab droid was too big anyway. are there in fact two versions of the crab droid in this line? different pictures give different senses of scale. official pictures look good and it seems to have a lot of detail while actual product pictures show it to look really cheap and messily produced. am i seeing one small one and one bigger one? I'm confused.

The viper droid at that size may well join my action figures. so it's not canon, so it's not movie, it looks ok though.

Basically, a big advertisement for the new rules to show how an encounter is run and a way to bring in new players to show how the system works.

Jawa and Lando posted

There will be a contest using 150 point mini squads at GenCon.

Slightly underwhelmed by what I've read about WotC for the next 2 years. While the book is exciting, and getting an updated Starships of the Galaxy, seeing how they screwed the last 2 core rules and the last Starships of the Galaxy, wondering how they will do this time. The Old Republic adventure seems interesting. The packaging of the minis seems to be like the Unleashed line. Overall, this is Hasbro's weakest division. Can you kill it off yet?
