View Full Version : Survivor Cook Island (S13)

Judging from the first episode, it looks like it be a good season. An interesting mix of people.

Was Hiki voting one of the men off the smartest move? I don't think so but Sekou didn't help his case by taking breaks. If it were three guys and two ladies instead, I think the vote would've been different.

The one thing that's hard to grasp in these early episodes is everyone's name. Which one is that? Just a few standouts so far: Cao Boi, Flicka, and the writer, Jonathan, come to mind.

Another aspect that bothers me is Probst's arrogance. He's not the same host; he's evolved. I know it's an easy gig for him, but it may be time for him to go. The show would continue.

There's a thread about this somewheres. :)

The racial thing was a non-factor. The teams weren't separated by race. They were separated by skin tone. Every single person this season is white. (Seriously, they picked the whitest minorities possible.)

09-15-2006, 09:18 AM
I had forgotten to set the VCR so only caught the last 10 mins or so... So, not having seen what contribution Sekou actually made, it seemed to me that he was just really talking himself up with the girl he was trying to align with. He seemed like he was talking about all these 'skillz' that he could bring to the game. Talkin' big. It sounded typical of someone who wouldn't do much; seemed like a good vote to me.

I thought the girl that got the votes was / is good looking.

09-15-2006, 10:42 AM
As expected, the tribes struggled to get fire. I don't any of them were successful before winning flint at the immunity challenge.

Well, Sekou got a little tired trying to make fire and had to take a break. And of course, through the magic of editing, it was made a bigger deal than what it probably was.

09-15-2006, 08:09 PM
I basically missed the entire episode last night with exception to Tribal Council. Anyone have a good re-cap of what happened? I'm too lazy to surf the net and find one of them sites. :D

09-16-2006, 07:20 AM
I like that they kept the Exile Island thing this year. How long before they merge the tribes to 4?

Try this, UK:

If that doesn't work, I can PM you a few other links.

If you got to the Survivor website you can view what looks like to be about half the show: The beginning, where they jump ship; the reward / immunity challenge; and the Tribal council. In addition there are some interviews.

Everything you want to know about last week's Survivor is there.

09-22-2006, 07:39 AM
* Your tribe intentionally blows a challenge: $10,000
* Billy realizing his tribe intentionally blew a challenge: $20,000
* Billy telling the world that he and Candice, someone he's barely said 10 words to, are in love: $30,000.
* The look on Probst's face when Billy tells how he feels about Candice: PRICELESS.

Until Billy opened his mouth, I thought, OK, Ozzy is a control freak and needs to go. Then the bombshell! One word: PSYCHO!!!

09-22-2006, 09:49 AM
No doubt!! I was hoping he would stay until he went on that "Candice loves me thing"...WEIRDO!!!! - I mean - it's OBVIOUS she love ME, not him!!!

I still don't understand the mentality of throwing a comp in survivor.... But then again, I can't play cause I'm Canadian.... (slight bitterness there)

I can't believe the Korean guy find the immunity idol so fast. Good for him. Last year it didn't do anything, but this year - maybe it will get used.

09-22-2006, 10:03 AM
When CBS tapes Survivor Northwest Territory or Survivor Yukon, I hope you're there, Pegger.

09-23-2006, 07:38 AM
Canadians can't play? But Mexican's can? And I'm not surprised the Korean found the Idol, he's smart. I'm j/k.

Seriously though, I can not believe they would throw a challenge like that! I would think it'll hurt them more in the long run.

Also, we now have a reason to want to see 2 things - the 1st time Candice's tribe goes to Tribal Council to see Jeff ask about it (possibly), and, definitely the reunion show.

09-29-2006, 08:53 AM
* Last night's Survivor was like Chinese food: it was good but not filling. Still can't put my finger on the exact reason why.

* Remember the challenge from Vanuatu with Fireman Tom? It was a little different in the water. Again, I'm trying to figure out the offensive move at the end. Yul or whoever it was should've picked up Cao Boi and threw him at the other.

* I used to think Savati was nice eye-candy. I don't care much for her attitude now.

* The ladies confronting Candice about her 'romance' with Billy was funny.

09-29-2006, 09:48 AM
When we watched it, I was like - that's it? That's what all the big stink was about? 2 shows where they were segregated? I was hoping they were gonna move to a men vs women scenario....

The immunity challange was the same one in Palau....

The episode was a little dull.

and OMG - that Roller chick is STUPID! She would be next on my hit list - you can't trust her, and she is just not thinking game.... Those are the most dangerous players.

09-29-2006, 09:59 AM
Palau! That's it!! I remember Fireman Tom leading the charge.

Might the tribe flick Flicka off?

10-06-2006, 08:11 AM
Now THAT'S how you blind-side someone at tribal council!! Where he or she doesn't have the slightest clue it's coming at them. The look on J.P.'s face was priceless.

I thought Sarvati was going to cave in and not vote for J.P. I still don't care for her, but at least she grew a set and did something.

Cao Boi is a loose cannon, but I like him. I'd be bothered about the baby bird incident, too, but my fat butt wouldn't have shimmied up that tree!

Nothing else was said about the woman who cut her hand during the immunity challenge. From the way she was hacking and slashing, she could've chopped her entire hand off!

10-20-2006, 08:09 AM
Poor Cowboy. didn't even see the bus that hit him.

Not surprised with Christina, though.

I think it's safe say the Raro tribe is pretty dysfunctional.

You know, his little plan sounded good, if they followed through with it.

Anyone noticed that Candace and Adam were mouthing words to each other? I thought I read 'I love you' one time from Candace. I had read somewhere at the start of the season that there were as many as three hookups on the island. But the producers/editors have played up/exploited this alleged fact any more than usual.

Boy, was that a rough competition or what! I'm suprised no one got hurt.

Nate was salivating like one of Pavlov's dogs at the food.

10-20-2006, 07:31 PM
I saw Candace and Adam, too. I wonder if any other players noticed; it happened more then once.

I thought it was pretty apparent at Tribal Council that things weren't looking well for Christina. For that reason, I was a little surprised that she wasn't picked, that Nate was instead. I would've liked to've seen who would've been voted off then.

Call me weird, but I'm starting to find the roller-ball chic attractive. Part of it is that she doesn't look or act like everyone else.

So far it seems to me that the only 2 who really seem to be playing the game are Yul and Jonathan(or, should I say, playing the most / hardest), maybe Ozzy.

I'm not finding this season to be as enjoyable as last season so far. It seems to be a little more3 of a popularity contest right now.

10-23-2006, 12:49 PM
[QUOTE=dr_evazan22;507544]Call me weird...QUOTE]

You're weird. Sorry, couldn't resist.

10-23-2006, 11:17 PM
Call me weird, but I'm starting to find the roller-ball chic attractive. Part of it is that she doesn't look or act like everyone else.

No, I don't think you are weird, I love chics like her. Personally she the only one that is attractive. That girl with the horse teeth makes me sick.

If I was in that competition I probably would had punched someone in the face. I hate being held down. I'd let the Roller chic do it though.

10-24-2006, 06:58 AM
I'm surprised no one really got hurt in that challenge. Survivor has added at least one really physical challenge in the last season or two where someone could get hurt.

11-03-2006, 08:15 AM
Well, Dr. Evazan, you're gonna have to find a new crush since Flicka was voted off. :(

She was very mint chocolate chip in a vanilla ice cream tribe. But she was too wishy-washy when it came to voting.

Two very physical challenges last night. The first one more so. Brad should've swam. His excuse that he's better at puzzles will bite him in the butt.

11-03-2006, 09:44 AM
That's funny Turbo, I was thinking of Parvati as Horse-face, too. I think she's attractive as long as she's not giving that full Mr. Ed frontal view; something to be used - have your fun with, then passed on.

Watching last weeks recap I took another notice to Cecilia. Too bad she's gone.

As for Flicka (How'd she get that name?), if she were REALLY playing the game she could've been a LITTLE more discreet about approaching someone to make an alliance. Like, maybe not approaching everyone. Except Jonathan. Very naive to think that people hadn't aligned themselves already in the previous 16 days. The way she went about trying to save herself was similar to the way Christine did 2 weeks ago.

Did you see the look on Jonathan's face when his name was read? "Oh spit! They tricked me and voted me off!"

11-17-2006, 07:32 AM
Boy, was Jenny ********! She got hit by a runaway train and didn't even know it.:whip:

But Jenny was right when she said the tribe is lacking something. They have youth and strength but can't pull it together in the competitions.

11-17-2006, 10:00 AM
Right now, I'd be happy with any of the four Aitu (sp?) members winning. The others, eh, they suck. Except Nate. I'd be okay with him winning.

11-17-2006, 10:31 AM
I like Yul too...He seems smart. And Ozzie is a monster at the competitions. He won't win, because he's too strong tho.

11-17-2006, 10:34 AM
Wouldn't it be a kick in the pants if Jonathan ended up winning? The chances of that actually happening are slim, though.

I'm rooting for Yul or Ozzie.

11-19-2006, 10:17 AM
WAAAHHHH!!! Jenny got voted off! I think there are only 2 strong alliances on the show - the R2 tribe, and Candace and Adam. Nate won't make it b/c he's now on the outs with his group (he voted for Jonathan, while everyone else voted for Jenny).

Besides Jenny crying (WAAHH! I got voted off), there's Candace - I don't know why they want me to suffer on Exile, I thought we were friends?!

Why didn't we get to see Sundra's farewell?

The show is now starting to get interesting because now there's a team to root for, a another to enjoy as they tear themselves up.

Notice no caucasians on R2 (Ozzy being Hispanic)?

11-24-2006, 02:49 PM
Last nights show was good - it kept you guessing exactly what Jonathan would do the whole show. Its great that he's now ****ed off everybody in the game. If you really think about it though, Jonathan really owed no allegiance to the tribe he defected to... He would have been voted off before but the other tribe-mates decided to cannibalize their own tribe. I wonder if Yul really does want to go to the final 2 with Jon? Or, now that its 5 - 3, would they take an oppurtunity to get rid of him, leaving it 4 - 3. I would've thought Nate might've flipped if they tried. Not too sad to see Nate go though; didn't dislike him, but I didn't like him either.

I hope that they break up Candace and Adam, vote one off next. Preferrably Candace, as she's also tight with Parvati (did you hear her hitting on Yul during the challenge? "Intelligence is sexy!").

11-27-2006, 07:43 AM
Nate showed he was a sore loser during the final comments. It's a game, dude! I don't see where he contributed that much to the group, either.

Yes, Jonathan has ticked everyone off. But wouldn't he be someone you want to be sitting across from in the final 2? It's starting to make sense to keep him around.

My opinion of Parvati had changed drastically since the show started. She's attractive, but the porch light's on and no one is home.

11-27-2006, 08:23 AM
Yeah - I liked Nate - but it is a game...you got outplayed bud.

I think Jonathan made the only move he could. He wouldn't make it past the final 4 with the other group. Now he has a legit chance to make it to final 2. Who wouldn't take him to the end - everyone hates him! Hell...he might just end winning because of that move.

11-27-2006, 08:32 AM
Jonathan did have some good points about the kids just sleeping in when there were chores to be done.

11-30-2006, 08:06 PM
What a bunch of spoiled babies....

I'm SO glad they voted off **** (so as to not spoil it)....

11-30-2006, 09:05 PM
WAAHHHHHH!!!! I'm on Exile Island again!!

I, too, (Aitu?) am so glad they voted her off as well. I resepct Yul and the others for not turning on Jonathan.

What really got me about tonights tribal was that if Jonathan had not flipped, then they would be doing the EXACT same thing to Yul and company. And they were right to not invite Adam and Co to share in the rewards of their hardwork. In every past season that I've watched there was at least one person who made it to the final 4,3 or 2, someone who just coasted along on someone else's coattails. I don't feel there is a coaster in the old Aitu. But there is Parvati on the other side.

Something I wish the Aitu people had pointed out - especially to Jenny - was how before the merge, her own people had voted her out of the game. And she was on the inside. That the alliance chose to vote out one of their own instead of someone who wasn't in the alliance.

I don't dislike Nate, but I don't like him either. Tonight, I just wanted to hit him as he "cheered" on the Jonathan bashing. There was no reason he deserved that.

Pegger - you hit it right on the head... Spoiled babies.

I almost wished Jonathan would vomit on Parvati after he ate all that food.

The only downside to tonights ep is that they can no longer send Candace to Exile.

12-01-2006, 06:51 AM
Jonathan made the only move he could. If the old Aitu would own up to that fact, they would understand his motivations. If he hadn't jumped when he did - he would have made final 5. That's it.

As it is, he may go all the way. Who WOULDN'T want to take him to the end?

What is REALLY funny is that the whole jury to this point is Aitu. And they were up 8 to 4!!!!

I was hoping that Adam was going to "see the light" and figure out (or have Jonathan point it out) that Jon saved his ***** the other nite.

I do have to say this has been the best survivor in a long time. Great twists and turns. It'll be interesting when the last 2 cry babies are gone.....

12-01-2006, 07:24 AM
* For the record, even I smelled Jonathan's pepperoni burp in my living room.

* Sorry, but if I were Sundra, I would've told Parvati to get her skinny butt out of the tub and go to Exile Island. That would've been priceless!!

* And Probst was right: if Adam had any feelings for Candice, he'd given her the immunity necklace, not send her home.

* I think we saw the closest thing to porn on Survivor last night with that kiss.

* Yes, Jonathan is an obnoxious *** but I'd want to be sitting across from him at the final 2. Your chances of winning the $$ would be greater.

* I've had this question for several seasons: some people walked away from the auction with money. Do they get to keep that?

12-06-2006, 07:20 AM
Some of you might find this interesting.

There was a military coup in Fiji yesterday. That's where the next season of Survivor is filming. Probst sent an email to Entertainment Weekly.com to update them on what's going on:

As PopWatch reported earlier this afternoon, today's coup in Fiji erupted as the cast and crew of Survivor were in the country, where they're close to finishing filming on the show's 14th season. Now, we have exclusive word from the set on how today's upheaval is affecting the popular CBS game show. “To be shooting Survivor while the host country is in the midst of a coup is a bit surreal for all of us here in Fiji,” writes host Jeff Probst in an e-mail to EW. “We have set up our satellite TV in the catering area [for producers and crew members only] and during dinner the entire crew watches the local news to get updates on what is happening.”

Military forces have confined the elected prime minister Laisenia Qarase to his home, leading the U.S. State Department to condemn the coup and temporarily suspend aid to the county. Still, Probst and others do not feel their safety threatened. “Fortunately, we are on another island that is a 30-minute flight away from the capital city of Suva where the coup is centered,” writes the host. “Everyone here is safe and the disruptions thus far have been minimal. We had a few production staff stationed in Suva that we brought back to base camp, and during the past week any crew members that were scheduled to fly to location were unable to due to flight cancellations. Otherwise, we have continued filming without interruption.”

It will be interesting to see if the coup would be written into an episode or just mentioned as a footnote.

A quick prediction on tonight's show: if Adam doesn't win individual immunity, he's packing up and going home.

Parvati's a twit and not a threat to anyone. She hasn't tried flirting with Yul and definitely wouldn't with Jonathan.

12-08-2006, 07:50 AM
Boy, I got that one wrong. :upset:

I think it was a bad move. They should've got rid of Adam when they had a chance. He's too strong of a player.

Now Jonathan is unlikeable, but I'd rather be sitting across from him in the finals than someone else.

At least Jonathan gets to annoy the jury members.

I love how the producers and previews hype up the accident and poof, in the first 10 minutes it was over.

Parvati is still a twit.

It was a HORRIBLE move to make... On Aitu's part. Great move on Adam's part. They played it well. Show them how uncomfortable it is with Jonathan - and how nice it is without him. Can't believe they fell for it though!

The game has taken an interesting twist again!!!

Yeah, now they run a distinct risk of being down to five, and Adam winning immunity. He was such a douche at Tribal Council, they should've offed him just for that.

BTW, did anyone else enjoy the idea of Becky throwing buckets of cold water on her sister? :beard:

He was a douche at council. Those faces were just too much. :upset:

Was I the only person to watch last night?

I watched the finale. I was satisified with the outcome. Overall one of the better seasons.

12-18-2006, 06:14 PM
Was I the only person to watch last night?

No I watched it. I wanted Ozzy to win. He played the hardest and really didn't mess with anyones heads. The thing with Becky and Yul made me sick. Yul seems like a very nice guy, but he was getting on my nerves. I'd rather see Jonathan win over Yul. The other thing I thought was BS was the race card that was being played by Yul and Ozzy. Who the hell cares if you are Asian or Mexican. It had nothing to do with race.

12-18-2006, 08:44 PM
But the game is about messing with peoples heads. I'm glad Yul won - he is hte reason they were all in the final 3.

Don't get me wrong, I liked Ozzy...and I agree, the race card was lame...

But in the end the right person won. Ozzy was physically strong...but Yul had the people game down.

12-21-2006, 07:50 PM
Been on vacation this week and this is the first time I've hopped on the computer.

Not suprised that Yul won. He played a great game.

But again, I wouldn't have been disappointed if Ozzy won. He was a great player physically. One of the best in Survivor history.

I figured Becky wouldn't get any votes.

Can't wait for the Fiji series.

12-24-2006, 09:50 PM
I wanted Ozzy to win. I'm not upset that Yul won tho. I love how, at the final Tribal Council, the Jury gets to vent their feelings and the nasty things that get said. Making someone defend why they are sitting there at the final 2/3. Loved it when Becky wasn't able to defend herself.

And how about that firemaking contest?

One improvement this year was the 'fade' from Final Tribal to the reunion show. We didn't need to see any of Jeff's journey.

12-24-2006, 11:16 PM
LOL yeah Becky had no clue what to say. She had no leg to stand on.

I was waiting to see Jeff to go through his journey, and I was pleasantly surprised they skipped it.

Funny how I wondered what kind of boxing horse mouth was involved in, model boxing, now that explains it.

12-24-2006, 11:25 PM
Yeah, what the heck IS model boxing?

I've never before thought of any guy as being horse-mouthed, but in those last shows Adam really fit the bill for me. He seemed like such a j%*k-off.

12-24-2006, 11:29 PM
It's when hot chicks box, I guess.

Yeah Adam was a jerk. I didn't like how they treated Jonathan. Jon was a bit strange, but he wasn't that bad.

12-25-2006, 08:45 AM
Adam was a jerk, and Nate was bitter.

The fire making contest was pretty funny. Not being able to make it should've disqualified them both.

12-25-2006, 07:16 PM
Jon played the game...and played it better than either Nate or Adam. But don't matter - they are still all LOSERS!!!!:whip:

12-28-2006, 07:49 AM
If Survivor does a second all-star edition, Jonathan definitely needs to be invited to play again.
