I just saw pics of the first 3 figures in the Sideshow military line and man are they sweet. 3 Endor Rebel soldiers. Can't wait for these guys.

That trenchcoat guy, where is he in the movie? Looks like they're just releasing that one so Han fans will buy him for the coat. They look pretty good overall, but they're sharing the same helmet, pants, boots, weapons, belts, and bandoliers (probably the same white shirt and hands too), so $60 a pop seems a bit high if that's the case... of course, if Sideshow went and offered all 3 for $60... DAAAAAMN! But my guess is they won't do that.

I just looked at the pics and it is quite lame that they all share the same weapons, etc. I would almost have to think that they might offer all three together at a cheaper price. If not then they're gonna sit on alot of these guys for a loooooong time.

I'm not digging these guys too much. $180 is alot of money for a man who looks like Grizzly Adams and two hicks who came straight from a hunting trip. My completism with this line may have just been cured...

I haven't been able to view the images yet. Are they on the SS website? I'm a newsletter subscriber, too - but haven't gotten anything.

I don't currently subscribe to Hyperspace or get the Insider as of the end of last year. I'm waiting to see if I'm going to the C4 Con and then re-initializing my membership as I may need that in LA.

Meanwhile, without having seen the figures:

I actually wanted 3 Endor Rebel Troopers for a long time. I always admired how the “GI Joe Guys” got to make gritty Vietnam battle dioramas with their 12″ and all their gear. So I bought quite a few of Hasbro’s Imperials (Officer, Death Star Troopers, AT-ST Driver, I think that was it) and I’m fine with those. I wanted some Rebels for them to fight. If I did the scene without Stormtroopers in their bright whites, and sort of muddied my troops up, I could have my own little Vietnam, “Endor-style.” In the future, I might also be down for some Hoth Rebels and Fleet Troopers.

I was just reading SideShow's description on their website,
"For the first time in centuries, the people of the galaxy had a military that served rather than enslaved them.

What B.S. is that? Palpatine's Empire existed for about 19 years. If you count the Clone Army from its time of origin (in the galaxy at large) - that's only 22 years. Before that, the Republic had a minimalist military service (Senate Guards and security escorts and their pilot corps). Different planets maintained their own militias, and private corporations like the Trade Federation secured their own defense forces. It was at least 1000 years before all that when the Sith last had an army at their disposal - of a still limited amount of Dark Jedi and their "familiars."

The military blow up of the Republic's Clone Troopers and the CIS Droid Armies had never been seen before.

I don't know what SideShow was smoking.

Thanks for the picture link Snaggletoothe.

Yeah I guess I want them. I don't have an overwhelming feeling of "I gotta have these!" but I do have a feeling of "If I don't get these, I'll regret it."

It will be about $200 for all 3 of them according to the price listed in that picture - plus tax, s&h.

That does give me pause. There's also no ethnicity variation in the soldiers (or no Dixie flag either) and on Endor is where we saw other races of human soldiers (Hoth and Fleet Troopers were all white-boys, though SideShow might do Bespin or Naboo security forces.)

They're kinda GI Joe, so that's cool. But three of them? And they all have different versions of uniforms. Dammit, more good stuff to buy from SS! I agree they should make one black guy. Onimakaro (not sure if I spelled that correct) would be cool also. He's in Endor clothes isn't he?

Yeah, I'm not sure these guys are directly representative of anyone in the film backed up with photographs from the set of ROTJ.

The old guy might be - but I keep seeing him waving the Dixie flag in my mind. And where are Bo and Luke Duke? ;)

All the way cool! Thanks Snags! I remember the white-bearded guy from the movie. Having been a Marine I always thought that to be kind of stupid...a bright white beard like that stands out like a beacon for a sniper...not very tactical at all. And I can not wait for the pre-order...I WILL be getting all three and hoping for more. I would like to see the entire squad put together eventually. Not all at once, though. Three is good for now.

They look pretty good. I'm on the fence about these. I'm hoping they're not one of those I'll regret it if I dont get them kind of thing.

I'm hoping that this Militaries of Star Wars line includes Imperial Officers and other troopers.

I think having 3 different soldiers would be a tough sell, they'd probably be very limited so they're not siting around for a long time. My guess is that there would be interchangeable heads (possibly making it a little more expensive $65 - 70 ea), with them showing the different clothing accessories in the pic. The apparent difference in height could be the angle and depth of the photo.

I'll buy 1, definitely, but 3...?

So, I wonder if we'll have to buy them all at once in one Priority-Preorder?

I think I will buy as many as I can (Sideshow usually allows 1 exclusive and 2 regulsrs) and commision a good painter to do repaints so that I have an even bigger squad. This is just a thought at this time. If anyone knows a good painter...I would appreciate the help.

Decadentdave showed us this pic in the other SS Obi-Wan thread http://forums.sirstevesguide.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=14584&d=1158630702
This guy is over at Sideshow Freaks. His name is Custom Mikey. I just joined over there as Ysalamir.

Ouch! Man! That burns!

Ok, so SS won't make that offer to us. It's probably just what they'll do then.

Anyone planning on getting these Rebel Troopers tonight? I don't think they're worth $200 ... think I'm going to PASS on them.

Not only am I passing on them as a trio, I'm passing on them altogether! :p

I'm still not sure about this bundle pack. I might by 2 of them, though. I have no recollection at all of anyone in the movie other than Solo wearing a trench. Can anyone show evidence contradictory to that? I recall the troops either wearing the ponchos or a full camo outfit. I also remember the old dude with the white beard from when han taps the scout on the shoulder and runs behind the bunker.

Yeah, man, send in the clones...I'd rather put the $$$ toward what Medicom is doing with RAH, anyway!

This figures are sweet. I pre-ordered the bundle. It's gonna be good to have more OT Sideshow stuff. I have 6 of the 7 figures released sofar (I still need Luke) and only Han is from the OT. The rest are all Jedi and all from the PT. (not that that's a bad thing but the OT RULES) Man, do I ever want Vader and Stormies.

I ordered through Steve's link late last night and got the 3-pack bundle. Steve gets a little something to help the site if we support it by ordering through here - and it's convenient anyway. I clicked on his bannerhead for the SideShow troopers instead of the link in this thread. I don't think it makes a difference. But I do want to support SirStevesGuide!

That being said, it was $203 with tax, s&h, everything. I wished we got a black guy amongst the troopers - except for the old dude, all white guys can look alike :D However, 3 is enough. If they make a black guy later on, I'll miss him, but I don't need him.

At a dealer's store I used to frequent in the '90's, a guy used Ultimate Soldier figures in terranium settings where he dirtied them up, even added fake blood and bandages to make "wounded," and put them in water, etc. to do Vietnam scenerios. I envied military collectors being able to do this, but I had neither the money, nor the space to do really much more than Star Wars.

I decided to make an all-Trooper Endor scene like this Vietnam diorama whenever I got the chance. Hasbro supplied me with the Imperials:

2 Death Star Troopers
1 Imperial Officer (DST wearing the alternate cap)
1 AT-ST Driver
1 Imperial Officer (grey uniform)

Having these guys dirty, wet, possibly bloody, and knee deep in muck posed in combat would do for my own Endor-version of Vietnam. I decline to use Stormtroopers or Ewoks to keep it as "Vietnam" as possible.

Now I needed Rebels - THANK YOU SIDESHOW. You guys can discern the rest.

I won't need their Imperials - as I obviously have some from the list above. But someday I could make something cool with all of this.

I have no recollection at all of anyone in the movie other than Solo wearing a trench. I recall the troops either wearing the ponchos or a full camo outfit.

And so it shall be when I recieve my order of these troopers. Han will be gifted with the trench coat.

It appears that there is only one version of each of these figures. One of them is refered to as a regular edition and two are refered to as Exclusive editions (IF I am reading correctly). It makes me wonder if the two "exclusives" are intended to be the SSE versions of the one regular. But those two are being sold through more than just Sideshow's website. If I am reading correctly...the soldier is getting a regular release and the Sergeant and Nik Sant are only available through Sideshow's website and internationally via the internet only.

Quoted from Sideshow:

Soldier - "We are proud to offer our the Rebel Commando Infantry Soldier for pre-sale with the launch of our Oct 5th 2006 newsletter"

Sergeant - "We are proud to offer our newsletter subscribers Priority Pre-Order for the Rebel Commando Sergeant Sideshow Exclusive 12-inch Figure"

Nik Sant - "We are proud to offer our newsletter subscribers Priority Pre-Order for the Rebel Commando Nik Sant Sideshow Exclusive 12-inch Figure"

Quoted from Sideshow's Commando FAQ -

"Q: Will there be a Sideshow Exclusive edition of the Rebel Infantry Soldier?
A: No, there is only one edition of this figure, which will be available through all outlets: direct at SideshowCollectibles.com, through our distributors, and from our retailers.
Q: Will there be regular editions of the Rebel Sergeant and Nik Sant figures?
A: No, these 2 figures will be available as Sideshow Domestic Exclusives only, which can be obtained 2 ways: direct at SideshowCollectibles.com through the Priority Pre-Order opportunities listed on the official preview, or from one of our International Distributors."

It also appears that Sideshow is making 4 of each available per person for army-builders like me. You are able to order 2 bundle packs AND 2 each of the individual figures. I will place the orders...but with the quality issues I have been having...I don't know if I will be keeping them.

Quoted from Sideshow's Commando FAQ -

"Q: How many of each of the 3 Rebel Commando figures and the bundle will we be allowed to order, per person, per account?
A: 2 of each figure, per person, per account. This means you can order up to 2 bundles and 2 of each individual figure if you would like."

I like the one that's not the geezer or Tim McGraw but I'm still not getting any of these.
