Purge Bultar is likely Bultar Swan with the armor she wears in Purge. It would be a cool figure, but I'd much prefer a "canon" Bultar first.

Yoda w/ Kybuck would be him with the deer-like creature he rides in the Clone Wars 'toon. This would be very, very cool.

KOTOR Darth M: Another Cobra trooper from the Knights of the Old Republic game, likely.

Pre-Cyborg Grievous: EU of the character prior to his shuttle crash. Cool look but, again, I'd prefer a canon Grievous. Meaning one in the proper scale.

Obi-Wan/Alpha: Likely a two-pack of Obi-Wan with Alpha, the first ARC-Trooper. (Probably two repacks, though Alpha could have a removeable helmet and/or be based on the superior Clone Commander sculpt.)

"Vgrar": Probably Vilmarh Grahk, a Devaronian who kicks it old school style with Quinlan Vos.

"momaw nadon Y": Well, we got Foul Moudama, and now there's a superior Momaw sculpt, so let's cross our fingers this is, uh, whatshisface, the Ithorian Jedi.

This guy needs to go easy on the question marks.

The "Purge Bultar" may be a Purge comic with Bultar Swan, which would be totally sweet.

If the last three are basic figures - Yoda with Kybuck, Roron Corobb, and Anakin on Nelvaan - that would be insanely awesome. However, these may just be the Galactic Heroes packs (with Momaw Nadon instead of Roron).

Geez, looks EU heavy to me.

I guess it ain't a bad thing that I might be done with this stuff...

it sounds too good to be true!

Darth Malek would be awesome as would Bultar Swan, A'sharad Hett, Pre cyborg Grievous, Roron Corrob, Yoda w. Kybuck and CZ-3.

If there was comic pack with Purge characters, it would make sense. Darkhorse has been in a reprinting mood lately with Legacy, Rebellion, and Dark Times. However, the one issue that was hard to get, has not been reprinted, and goes for $10-$15 bucks (while the other stuff they reprinted can be had for cover) is Purge. If they were printing them for the comic pack then it makes perfect sense why they have not reprinted for sale at comic shops. I like the idea of more Clone Wars figures. If the ones listed are true, then I want a better Obi with the clone armor on.

comic 2 packs EU

Purge Bultar???? - cool hopefully in canon outfit. Interesting to see the pairing

Mara Jade L??? Maybe luke? - Definately want a better Mara

Voss vs Vgrar?? - Voss is one of the top EU for me

Obi Alp?? - don't really recall anything interesting about Obi in the issue but the trooper should be cool

stormtrooper the one r2d2s toys says comes with r2 - Marvel pack I will get because I like the look of these

anakin Trad???? - have all the anankins I need I believe I will likely get this for the other fig whoever that is

Ashard Hett - cool character it will be interesting to see the sculpt

Leia Jedi vs D???????Dark Luke??? Darktrooper??? - Leia was probably my favorite of the first EU line. Not really excited about this though.

Xwing Rogue Squadron - It will be hard to only choose two here. Hopefully they will get to them all.

Precyborg Grivious - cool enough

Mcquarrie Luke - I figured we would get him

Helrot - Always happy to bulk up my cantina

Miyoo - ditto

Holiday Boba - the only positive part of the Holiday Special

hermi olde - Top of my want list. Hope it happens

mcquarrie vader - The McQuarrie figure I'm most eager to have

cz3 jabbas palace - Adding to Jabba's palace is as welcome and the cantina

kotor darth M - meh I will get him but no real excitement

yoda w/kyback????or kybuck???? - He can go with my Ambush for Illum set

momaw nadon Y????Is it a young version or a repack or a jedi????? - Hopefully this is Roron if not why not

anakin w/tatt - meh I will get it

With this much EU I don't know how well it will sell. On the one hand I can see a lot of cool looking characters but will the kids really care about them.

I really hope this list is for real because I'm liking it. Big EU fan so addition to the line are always welcome, new figures for both the Cantina and Jabba's are a welcome as well.

I am really anxious to see pics of the Order 66 packs and Wave 3. Keep 'em coming Hasbro.

I wonder how reliable this source is.

The only things on the list that interest me are the 2 from Jabba's palace and 2 Cantina patrons. There is a possibility I'd get the the Rogue Squadron if they can be used as generic Rebel Pilots from the OT. I actually read that series up to the 4th or 5th novel. They started out ok, but got progressively worse. I can only imagine how bad the rest of the series was.

I've read the novels and enjoyed them all except for maybe the last one. The first four were Rogue Squadron, while the next three were Wraith Squadron, more of a commando unit. Some good characters in each of them. I have most of the X-Wing comics, but have yet to read them.

If and when Darth Malak gets made, he NEEDS to have a removable jaw. Just think about how great that would be with his tounge all hanging out like Baron Unterbite of VEnture bros.

Kybuck: I've seen the EU blurb about how the Wookiees gave him to Yoda and Yoda kept the thing on coruscant at the jedi temple and rode it into battle a few times. it looks like a cross between a tauntaun and a naboo horse.
I'm all for any beasts no matter how small or large. I'll buy Kybuck and yoda but dump the yoda.

Bultar Swan comes with a character called Koffi? something koffi or koffi something. just read it at www.4inches.de (http://www.4inches.de)
I'm so not interested.

I will however buy pre-cyborg Grievous. the design looks cool and i want a grievous but just not one of the cruddy looking cyborg ones.

Mcquarrie Luke - I'll get it
mcquarrie vader - will need to see it.
Holiday Boba - want to see it first before deciding
Helrot - already on pre-order
Miyoo - ditto
hermi olde - a dream come true if true
cz3 jabbas palace - already on pre-order
momaw nadon Y - this is probably a miniatures thing or refers to galactic heroes
anakin w/tatt - clone wars series two anakin? I'd buy it and switch heads on it to get a cool pirate type background character. but it depends how it's presented.

Holy crap!

This kinda legitimizes some rumors, and throws in some things I pray are true!

Han with Torture Rack!!

Smuggler Lando!!

Black Leather Padme!!

A'Sharad Hett!!

Mara and Luke (Wedding???)!!

Rogue Squadron... meaning, hopefully, Corran Horn!!!

Rogue II
01-29-2007, 01:21 PM
Awesome if its true. In the Q&A, we asked about furture "larger accessories" and they replied that they couldn't answer because it would give away the figures. Torture Rack Han would fall into that category.

It isn't high on my priority list, but it will be cool to finally get Smuggler Lando. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing Hasbro re-release the VOTC Lando. Doesnt' matter if it is in a Battle Pack or a single card.

Herme Odle has been consistently popping up on the rumor lists, and I may actually start to believe it is true now.

I was hoping that Rebel Troop from the last list would be a new Hoth Rebel, but according to this list, it appears to be another MCQUARRIE figure. Too bad. But why is it listed twice? 1852 and 1860.

Ewok 2-pack could be cool. Have to wait to see the pics.

4-LOM and R2-D2 in a cargo net? Don't remember seeeing those on any of the rumor lists.

I've said for a while that I don't collect EU, but if they made some Rogue Squadron figs that could stand in as generic Rebel Pilots, I'd buy them.

Did anyone catch "1857 SW BSC FIG A-WING PILOT TYCHO?"

Why does Tycho get a figure? Can you imagine if there is a carded figure this year that is named "Tycho"?

Seems like they'd at least first make a SirSteve!

So last year, there was a Rogue II, and this year there is a Tycho....

Hmmm.

I hope 2008 brings us the Must-Have Figure, and not a Slicker's Mom Battle Pack.

I'm way cooler because my figure has a vehicle. For some reason, the Hasbro rep hasn't sent me a private message offering me an advisory job on the Star Wars and Little Pets lines.

Yes, it's a video game. There has been one teaser trailers for it. New force powers. Stormtroopers with painted markings like ROTS clones. (Ugh, as if they need to do that. Besides, after teh fall of the Republic, all Imeprial troops were supposed to have the same looiking armor unadorned with any particular legion/company/squad affiliation.

Anyway, I'm cautiously optimistic about the list. I HOPE it's true, but wouldn't be too disappointed if it's not. Don't get me wrong, there's quite a few from that list that I am genuinely excited about. It's just that it's WAY too many new figures for Hasbro in one year. It's going quite aay from what they normally do. Not only that, but the shear number of collector driven figures (one's we've begged to get) is staggering. I won't even list them all over again. It's jsut boggling to believe that this list is true and that we'd get so much new stuff and stuff we've been asking for, all in one year.

Okay granted, it is the 30th anniversary, but wow, I'm stunned.

I REALLY hope it's not a joke though, as I know there would be more than a few disgruntled collectors out there.

One notably omission from the lists; No Yarna! What's up with that???

I'm starting to believe that next year may very well see Yarna. It seems that Hasbro is starting to listen a little more to the fans than they used to and they are getting a better mix of re-releases (now the "Legends" line) and new figures.

Wow, this is a pretty awesome-sounding list. It even seems to match up with some older lists, so I'm hoping it's accurate.

What do they mean, Jango with Poncho? Was there some publicity shot or something with him in a poncho (I know Boba originally was going to have one), or could this finally be the normal-clothes version we've been wanting?

don't believe that hasbro really listens or is doing things to please you. it's a non movie year and this is just to tide things over until the TV shows air. Once those are a go we'll see more focus on other stuff and less on pleasing collectors. Enjoy while it lasts I say. and hope the TV thing fails miserably so they can go back to doing this kind of stuff again to keep the bucks rolling in.

Tycho Celchu, you guys... Rogue Squadron and for whom I took my screen name when I was writing Rogues' Gallery (comic and book reviews).

But it will prompt a whole new "Have You Sniffed the New Tycho Figure Thread!" Yup: my head IS going to explode! I already predict the inside of a removeable helmet will smell the best. Have some tweezers standing by to extract that accessory from your nostril, as with Holographic Leia, it could have a tendancy to get stuck there and require surgical removal. This is really embarassing and difficult to explain the cause to your doctor - especially after the 8th visit for such an occurance and a medical order being issued to "avoid all contact with Star Wars action figures." Then you have to find a whole 'nother doctor, familiarize someone new with your medical history, and recap why the Jawa's gun is lodged in your sinuses.

Anyway:

Hasbro doesn't seem to want to admit they made an error painting THEIR original "Arvel Crynyd" in a red uniform that was clearly sculpted from a Y-Wing Pilot's getup in ROTJ, and giving what was supposed to be Crynyd the wrong hair color. (All A-wing pilots seen in ROTJ were likely blonde).

It is debatable whether a pilot young enough to be Tycho was actually shown and surviving ROTJ, but Green Leader seemed too old to be him. (Tycho is around Luke's age, not Han Solo's)

I agree with you about Koffi. WTF?

I don't know the KOTOR video game characters. Hopefully, they'll show up in the Dark Horse comics I've been reading and I'll understand who they are.

I wanted to update . . . Hasbro has stated that there would be 60 figures this year. With the first 30 already confirmed (Force Unleashed not included), I checked and saw that there were 30 "new" figures on this list, so it looks like there will be no more surprises this year.

The first 30 are as close to their proper numbers as I can tell as of now, with the others in the order from the list here (and I'm sure they're not in release order, since for instance, the ROTJ figures will likely be put together).

That's 42 figures out of 60 being offered. Well, at least that's over 50% of the product being offered if you count my purchases of multiples for dioramas.

However, I'm only buying 22 out of 60 individually different figures. Ho-Hum. Such is to be expected with the decline of the hobby. However, amongst those 22 are figures I always wanted very badly, to be sure.

Additionally, the EU comic 2-packs are going to be a great boone for me, and the Maris Brood sculpt stands a strong chance of yielding a Ysanne Isaard action figure, possibly packaged with an X-wing Pilot Tycho, or Baron Fel TIE Pilot! How awesome would that be?

Plus we're getting Quinlan and Villie of course!

Ghey.

Nearly 25% of the figures are EU carp (I don't include Concept figures since they aren't EU).

Tycho
02-19-2007, 04:27 PM
In my opinion, the most appreciable EU is the good stories like those by James Luceno or some by Timothy Zahn, or comics by John Ostrander (Quinlan Vos / Aayla Secura for examples).

To be sure there is crap out there (Barbara Hambly is one of the worst offenders, though she did give Myoom Onth her backstory in Tales From Mos Eisley and that wasn't too bad).

So as a person interested in history, I love the fictional history of the galaxy and need more than 6 movies to cover it. I love having realistic action figures to help cover that expanse and offer me a tangible way to imagine it.

I can say that some EU is crap. Other offerings are as inspired as Lucas' own work (James Luceno cleans a lot of Lucas' omissions up actually).

I know George Lucas isn't perfect and also rests on his laurels as he gets paid no matter what Luceno, Zahn, or Hambly amongst others think up - as they pay to play in George's sandbox - and Lucas had to authorize things such as Chewbacca's getting killed before Ron Salvatore could write it. (Salvatore didn't even think that up himself - it was suggested he do it because too many SW books had the heroes saving the galaxy again and again, and never paying any price to make the risks seem serious enough - to which I answer to that: kill Han, Luke, and Leia, advance with Jacen and Jaina, Ben Skywalker too, when he's old enough).

Anyway, in our voting poll (Slicker's attention span is too short, he probably stopped reading already, but you never know...) we came up with about 211 figures from 5 movies that they never have made before. A top 50 was pulled from those votes, and about half of those have been finally made.

Star Wars has 3 choices:

1) stop production of figures
2) offer countless rehashes like more Luke Tatooines and other Vaders
3) balance the quantities in the figure lines with the most popular EU offerings

My choice would be option 3.

Slicker

I actually stayed with ya the whole time on that one Tycho.;)

I'm not gonna lie. I hate to admit it but SOME EU may be necessary but 25% of the figures? I would have to venture that far more people DON'T read that stuff than do so why make the figures that EU fans want (Quinlan, Revan ( ), and the likes) when we can't even get the stuff WE (EU dislikers) want?

I've also said it before but, however much we don't like it, rehashes and repaints are very, VERY necessary in this line. Star Wars gets new fans on a daily basis and they may watch ANH and want a Luke in Tatooine gear or Darth Vader. If he goes to the store and doesn't see those figures he may just say screw it and not care anymore. Rehashes are the life blood that's gonna keep Star Wars toys alive. Period.

I'll strongly agree with you there. About 25-30 figures are almost necessary every year, just as a Batman or Spider-Man figure would be necessary to keep offering in that line, or Optimus Prime in a Transformers line.

For Star Wars, there's an ensemble cast now that must be available on the racks at Wal-Mart, Target, and Toys R Us. Hasbro is wise to try and make the "Legacy Assortment" or whatever it's called, include these, as the E3 Greatest Battles and Heroes & Villains tried to in 2006.

The problem is that the figures all look the same to appease carded collectors (TAC cards with coins for 2007 for example).

A minimum wage retail employee who doesn't know or care about Star Wars will put a sku scan sticker on the end of a peg, and then stock similar looking products on it no matter which case assortment they came out of. Therefore, if there are 8 pegs for Star Wars, and half and half are new figs and Legacy respectively, the figures won't be stocked correctly accordingly.

If Legacy piles up on regular assortment pegs, the average employee won't know or care. They just count every 12 figures as a case in stock for whatever the sku on the end of the peg reads.

Sorry for the detriment to carded collectors (new ones for sure anyway), but what Hasbro should do is design a radically different cardback, maybe even card size, for their "heroes & villains / Legacy / Whatever" figures so those stocking the stores will know what they have and what they need to order.

EDIT: another thing I just thought of was have a 3rd "militaries of Star Wars" line and cardback program like SideShow, but just keep that assortment chock full of Imperial, Clone, and Rebel Troopers, with a few other army builder types in there from time to time like Gungan Soldiers, Naboo with head variants, etc.

I'd be surprised if they do a Hoth Rebel this year as they aren't doing any other basic figures from Hoth.

Also, I would be willing to have Salacious Crumb be a little bigger than scale if he could be articulated. I actually bet if his legs and arms were stretched all the way out he would be about as big as Mars Guo. He did't have very good posture and kind of sat all balled up. It is hard to tell how tall he actually would be.

45 basic figures with multiples

I'd say that is pretty good for Hasbro. They get about $300 for basic figures in '07.

And, like I keep saying, if there's 25% EU, why nothing from novels?

There would be no prequels--hell, we would not even be here, as there would be no modern SW toy line--if not for the success of Timothy Zahn's novels about 15 years ago.

So the novels should be getting more love than pre-cyborg Grievous or an entire wave of Force Unleashed.

I agree with El Chuxter.
