From the ever popular board of SWcollecting, I thought I would start this thread here as well.

NAme that tune, post lyrics and go from there.

First up:

who put the flower in the barrel of that gun?
who lit the candle that started the fire,
burnt down the fortress, the throne?

wow, that obsure, have absolutely no clue what song that could be, how about another hint ?

El Chuxter

Oh, I dunno, I don't think the thread's dead yet. Maybe more people should take a look in here, and maybe then they can stand up for this song, which I'm sure many people love.

:)

Another hint, it was off of the fourth album by the band that sings it(cant give that info away, but i am sure Chux will know it)

When typing my reply, I didn't see Chux's response, but I got the cryptic message in there that he knows the answer

Kidhuman

The answer is They Stood up for Love by LIVE.

Easy one here:

Very good, now post another one, R-Deuce

El Chuxter

I believe that be "Aqualung."

Rogue II
01-11-2007, 09:47 AM
That's not it.

El Chuxter
01-11-2007, 09:49 AM
Oh, duh. You're right. It's something by those douchebags Rush. "Spirit of Radio," maybe? Can't say that I'm a fan. If they lost Geddy, I probably would be.

Rogue II

Right band, wrong tune.

El Chuxter
01-11-2007, 10:06 AM
Tom Sawyer?

If not, that's the extent of my Rush knowledge.

Rogue II
01-11-2007, 10:14 AM
Tom Sawyer it is.

So much for trying to keep it simple. These threads seem to die when we get too obscure. Your turn.

El Chuxter
01-11-2007, 10:22 AM
It would be simple for a lot of folks. But Rush always sounds cool until the neutered chicken--I mean, Geddy--starts squealing, and then it totally ruins it for me.

But I let the Live one slip through my fingers, so I'm not passing this time. ;)

Next:
"Walking down the street, shooting people that I meet
Fully-loaded Tommy gun"

[Note: Two bands did this song. They did these two lines differently. You have to name the band that did this version. Bonus points if you name the other band and what is different about these lines in their version.]

Rogue II

Is it Metallica's version of "Stone Cold Crazy"?

El Chuxter
01-11-2007, 10:38 AM
Yup yup.

Do you know the answer to the bonus question?

Rogue II
01-11-2007, 10:48 AM
Luckily, I just happen to be listening to Classic Queen right now. It sounds like he says something about a water gun.

El Chuxter
01-11-2007, 10:50 AM
Yep, it's "rubber Tommy water gun."

The other difference is in some f-bombs Metallica added a few lines later.

Rogue II

Every time that I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face getting clearer
The past is gone

El Chuxter

I'll defer to Caesar, since I got the last one.

I can guaran-damn-tee you he'll get it. Maybe tomorrow....

Rogue II
01-11-2007, 11:19 AM
Well, when he sees it, he can automatically post the next tune.

And what? No one knows this song? I figured JJL or LusiferSam would lknow it. You disappoint me Rogue2 and EC, what kind of fans are you?

El Chuxter
01-18-2007, 11:09 AM
Not big enough to recall all the lyrics, apparently.

(I just cheated and will exempt myself from the question. JJL should definitely know it, though.)

Because I don't listen to The Final Cut very often. (Yes, I had to look it up)

Kidhuman
01-18-2007, 11:21 AM
Its not off of the final cut tard.

El Chuxter
01-18-2007, 11:27 AM
When I looked it up, it said A Saucerful of Secrets. But isn't The Final Cut a live album?

Rogue II
01-18-2007, 11:39 AM
Its not off of the final cut tard.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/When_the_Tigers_Broke_Free

It was origninally a single and it's on the remastered Final Cut. Its also on Echoes, which I recently "re-aquired".

Kidhuman
01-18-2007, 01:05 PM
Well, its not on the final cut of the final cut.

So, is it dead YET????

:mebs:Isobaws&

El Chuxter
01-19-2007, 11:48 AM
I declare it dead, since the title can be found in Rogue's link.

"I'm a natural man
Doing all I can
My temperature is running high!"

The cover version is far more well known. Bonus points if you can name the original artist. But I can't, without looking it up.

Kidhuman

The Final Cut is not a live album, it is almost Waters first Solo project. It had alot of Cut Tracks from The Wall.

The song was When the Tigers broke Free for those who didnt know it.

King Crimson - Three of a Perfect Pair.

Yes I would have gotten the Pink Floyd song right away, but simply hadn't read this thread before. Anyway, try this:

I've seen 50,000 names all engraved on a stone
Most of them men under the grave years before I was born
