I knew about this earlier in the week, but had to keep it on the DL, but FINALLY, it's happening: "24" action figures!! Here is the announcement from McFarlane toys:

20th Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising and McFarlane Toys announce a licensing agreement to produce action figures based on Fox's multiple Emmy®-and-Golden Globe Award-winning Drama -- 24.

Two figures of the show's hero, Jack Bauer (played by Emmy® Award and Golden Globe winner, Kiefer Sutherland) are currently in production. Both are packaged as boxed sets and re-create scenes taken directly from the action-packed drama on Fox.

"Without question, 24 is one of TV's biggest cliffhanger programs," says McFarlane Toys' CEO Todd McFarlane. "Kiefer Sutherland does an amazing job as Jack Bauer, the biggest reason people tune in each season. I know a lot of our fans will be excited to hear about us making figures of one of TV's top action stars."

"All of us here at Fox are genuinely excited about the upcoming 24 product release from McFarlane Toys -- Todd and his team have built their reputation on bringing innovation, creativity and magnificent attention to detail across all their intellectual property offerings. says Michael Peikoff, vice-president of domestic licensing for 20th Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising. "The passionate fans of 24 will not be disappointed and are eagerly awaiting this product launch."

One of the most ground-breaking, thrilling and acclaimed television dramas, 24 follows twenty-four consecutive hours in the intense life of Jack Bauer, a maverick anti-terrorist agent from the state-of-the-art Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU). Each episode covers one hour of real time and each season's unique storyline unfolds in one heart-stopping day.

McFarlane Toys' first 24 action figure is expected to hit store shelves in August, with the second scheduled for holiday season 2007 release. Check back on Spawn.com for more information as it becomes available.

I was going to shrink it down, but NOBODY shrinks Jack Bauer and gets away with it.

Needless to say, I'm REALLY REALLY REALLY excited. I can finally have a President Palmer figure to guide me about my day. :crazed:

Yeah, they have two 12'' Bauer figures for oh, $159.99 a pop! Can't really afford that.

I also read this week that Diamond Select is going to be producing 12'' inch figures as well as minimates. :whip:

Nice. I hope they offer versions of the badguys where I can rip their heads off.

24 action figures? Heck, Star Wars is probably over 1,000 right now...

I did order the first set of the "24" minimates today too. I know it's not mcfarlane, but I think it'd be silly to start a thread just to the minies. First wave is set to include Jack, Nina, Kim and Palmer!!

Saw this on a minimates forum and thought i'd share it.

"Right now we are getting 2 boxed sets and 2 exclusive 2-packs. Each boxed set is from a season. Season 1 boxed set is Jack Bauer, President Palmer, Nina Meyers, and Victor Drizen (SP?) with an exclusive 2 pack that includes "End of the Day" Jack Bauer and Kim Bauer. The other boxed set is from season 2 and includes Jack Bauer (with sunglasses), Tony Almeda, Michelle Dessler, and George Mason with an exclusive 2 pack that includes Jack on a stretcher and Nina in Chains. So far we don't know where the 2-packs are "exclusive" to. Hope that helps. I just hope they sell well because I want a Wayne, Curtis, and Chloe figure." Obviously, this lineup has changed, but gives you an idea of what we could possibly expect.

McFarlane is still iffy on a whole line of "24" figures, so this could be the only way we could get more characters in figure form. I'm all for it.

Final pics are up: http://www.spawn.com/toys/product.aspx?product=3272

From the looks of it, they've dropped the sculpted background and made most of it backdrop. The sculpt looks really great and what there is of a base/accessories are great too. oh and Jack now has his man bag!!! really excited!

I'm diggin' this figure. Would have prefered more of a sculpted background but the backdrop has a nice look and feel to it as well. Pretty sweet!

Thanks for the update JMG.

The second wave of the 24 minimates and the Diamond exclusive 2 pack images have been released.

wave 2: Jack, George Mason, Tony and Michelle
Exclusive: Day 1 Jack and Dresden

and if you haven't seen wave 1:

Jack, Nina, Kim and President Palmer.

I have them on pre-order, but i might cancel them. MCF hasn't said anything about their Bauer figure and i'm thinking this could be the only chance to own non Jack figures, even if they're minimate style. If i'm home for it, i'm going to ask Todd about an update during tomorrow's Toddcast. I'm getting curious about these things.
