View Full Version : Help me support March of Dimes!

As many of you know, my wife and I became the proud parents of twins last year. After an EXTREMELY complicated pregnancy, Hayden J and Hannah Maureen were born on April 17th, nearly two months premature. After spending the first couple months of life in the hospital, we were finally able to bring them home in the middle part of June. Without the incredible advances in the field of neonatal care over the last few decades, its a good possibility that Hayden and Hannah, and countless other preemies, wouldn't be here today, much less without any birth defects.

Many of these advances are thanks in part to the March of Dimes. That's why I'm asking all of you to help support my wife and I when we walk for Hayden and Hannah in April during the March of Dime's "WalkAmerica". Not only are we walking in thanks for the blessings we recieved, but to try and see to it that no one has to go through what my wife and I did.

If you would like to donate to Team Hayden and Hannah, follow the link here (http://www.walkamerica.org/s_team_page.asp?SeId=374494&si=). Can you REALLY say "no" to these guys (http://myspace-151.vo.llnwd.net/01423/15/13/1423413151_l.jpg)?!:)

We appreciate every cent donated and I know that you guys won't let me down! Thank you so much! If you guys turn out to be the all-stars I suspect you will, I may even get the SSG logo screened on the sleeve of my shirt.

My debit card said Ka ching! A little something to your walk. Hey if I didn't use it here, I would have spent it on Star Wars figures which would only help me, or waste it on lottery tickets.

April? I've been wondering how to get involved with this as well, since I have a beautiful daughter at home thanks in large part to March of Dimes.

Not that I'd slight you, homie, but I'll probably have to take part in this as well.

April? I've been wondering how to get involved with this as well, since I have a beautiful daughter at home thanks in large part to March of Dimes. My wife and I were pretty dumb, too, as to how to get involved. It only took her about ten minutes worth of research to figure it out.

Not that I'd slight you, homie, but I'll probably have to take part in this as well.At which time I'll help a brotha out.

what is the last day to do so?I'm not sure. The walk isn't until April 21st, so I'm assuming you have PLENTY of time.

and just so you know, I can say no to anyone.(but I wont in this case)You're such a sweetheart.;)

CaptainSolo1138
01-13-2007, 06:27 PM
What about money orders?I'm told the only way we can do money orders is if we make the donation and then have the money order made out to one of us. If that's something you'd be interested in, KAK, PM me and we can get it worked out!

I'm going to drive over to wherever there is a Stanley Cup, steal the damn thing, and drive it out to that godforsaken Michigan and baptize those kids myself - the way they should have been in the first place. Then I'm gonna tell Hayden in person how much I liked him in Shattered Glass and Revenge of the Clones.

But yeah, put me down for a few sheckels as I want in on this. Not sure how much yet but it will be more than a few Dimes, I promise. lol

So, if you hit your goal, are you still allowed to try and raise more?Absolutely. The goal is just an arbitrary number you set so your team can be "working toward" something. It can be set as high or as low as you wish. We chose $417 since the kids were born on April 17th.

KH's donation put us up to $355, only $62 away from our goal. Having only been lobbying for a month or so, I'm hoping we can double our goal by April!

THANKS to EVERYONE who has donated thus far and I look forward to watching the total donation grow larger and larger! -Adam

No we didn't. We basically did everything via word of mouth and by posting the link in forums we belong to. I have a thing up on my desk at work and several professors have seen it and had me email them the link so they could help out.

We are indeed $378 over goal! I believe we have more than $795 total, but people with individual pages tied to ours haven't had their totals tallied in yet. For example, my step-sister has her own page where she is raising her own funds to be dumped into our total at the end.

I haven't forgotten, either, but I too am waiting for the last minute. Is there any other way to do it?!:)

I would recommend it. It gives a personal touch to fundraising. Sure, not everyone will be willing to give, but I got some decent funds from some folks I didn't expect to get more than $10. An old boss of mine sent me a check for $200 the first year, and my dad sent me a check for $70.

I also sent "Thank you" letters to everyone I had address's for. I included pictures from the event, and because of it, I was given more from those friends the next year.

We also had a silent auction at the "Relay" event. I didn't know about it the first year, but the second year I brought several of my extra figures with, and raised more money for the team that way (and they did sell).

'Tis that time of year again! I can't believe its been a year already.

Mrs. Solo and I are doing our annual March for Babies (its no longer March of Dimes) fund raising. For those of you who don't know, our twins (Hayden and Hannah) were born nine weeks early. They were in the NICU and hour away from home for nearly two months before we were able to bring them home. While we were lucky enough to have only minor problems and set backs along the way, many parents of preemies are not nearly as fortunate.

After our ordeal, we're doing all we can to help figure out and get rid of premature birth. We feel very strongly about what March for Babies does and would LOVE to have your support! You can donate to our team page HERE (www.marchforbabies.org/449997) or you can PM me for a more analog method. :)

Without March for Babies, there is every chance that Hayden and Hannah wouldn't have made it from this (http://a255.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/125/l_2ca727475d754df968609374d64aff0e.jpg) to this (http://a353.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/38/l_eb74c2da26b98a41e77dd21c33a09ff0.jpg).

Sweet! After we did our 2nd Relay for Life walk, I stuck around to watch the awards. You get a bronze pin if your team raises $3,000.00. My team fell short by about $20, so when I get back home, I went out and raised more money, and our team got our bronze pins, though just not at the Relay. I was really tired, since it is a 24 hour event, and I slept maybe 1 hour during that time.
