Mezco Toyz has picked up the license for The GOONIES! Here is an article/interview from Wizard.

INCOMING: GOONDOCK SAINTS

When ToyFare heard that Mezco Toyz was going to make toys and prop replicas based on the iconic movie of our childhoods, we cornered Mezco president Mez for details.

TOYFARE: Why decide to do Goonies toys now, 20 years later?

MEZ: The Goonies is a classic movie. It’s got it all: pirate treasure, action, adventure, thugs, the Truffle Shuffle and Corey Feldman. I have no idea why it took so long to be immortalized in plastic, but as soon as I knew the opportunity was there to license it, I jumped.

Who will be in the first lineup?

For the action figures we are going to start with a 7-inch scale lineup of Mikey, Mouth, Chunk, Data and Sloth. We’ll also have a deluxe Sloth, which will be either 12 or 18 inches.

And how about prop replicas?

For the prop replicas, we’re going to offer a limited “Copper Bones” One-Eyed Willy Key at San Diego Comic-Con, and we’ll roll out several other replicas in either 1-to-1 scale or a reduced scale. Items being worked on—but not finalized and still pending approval—are a miniature “Copper bones,” a framed Goonies map and coin, a miniature One Eyed Willy’s Pirate Ship, One Eyed Willy’s Skull and more.

If the first wave of figures does well, could the Fratelli crime family be in the future?

Absolutely. The second series would definitely include the Fratellis. How could it not?

Words cannot fathom my excitement. I read that we're supposed to get a glimpse of them at NYC TF. We'll have to wait and see!

JMG, you just made my day. I think I won't tell Mrs Chux about these, and then get her Sloth and Chunk as a surprise. She loves this movie more than I do.

Very cool, it's about time Sloth gets his due! I wonder if they ever tried to do him for Movie Maniacs?

My pleasure, Chux. :D I just hope they are able to get the likeness of each figure down. I loved Mezco and their Hellboy toys, but some of their other lines have those exaggerated sort of styles like Scarface. I know Mezco is going to treat them with love, so i have hopes. We'll have to wait till Toyfair!

What, no Chester Copperpot? Accurate likenesses and price will be two main factors for me. Hopefully they won't cost more than $10 each. Data could be customized into a Short Round. I bet my mom would like to have a Mama Fratelli, that actress was good in Throw Momma from the Train.

Anne Ramsey might be dead by now. Most of those kids are adults now, The eighties were still good.

Oh yeah, Ramsey died a long time ago. They are all growed up now, except for the Hobbit fella - Mikey/Samwise.

Sean Astin is 35 soon to be 36 he's in the five foot range like me. IMDB says he is 5'6". I'm 5'9".

This line has "doomed" written all over it, Mezco has a bad habit of being unable to support lines to their conclusion, and it's such a niche item to begin with. That said, I'm glad they're giving it a try.

If it is doomed that would be a shame considering it was a good movie.

Not bad, but I would've preferred more realistic. :(

It would've been great if they could've included the Superman logo on Sloth's shirt.

Ugh! Mezco always has to do something with a "style", it's never just a straight realistic look.

Is that a replica of the key?! Looks pretty solid. And Chunk comes with a GREAT accessory: the statue!! That is one of my favorite parts/lines in the movie.
"Boys, what is that?"
"Oh, sh**, what?!?"

November 2007 these'll be out. Such a long wait, but i'm excited nonetheless.

Hey, those don't look too bad. They could have been much worse. In series 2 they should release the rest of the Goonies and the Fratellis.

I like the looks of the figures, would be cool to see a Chunk figure doing the Truffle Shuffle though. would definately get the prop of Copper Bones though. Seeing these pics makes me want to dust off my DVD and watch Goonies.

Thanks Slicker, was wondering what the whole gang looked like these days. I can remember when was younger having a huge crush on Andy. Not digging the new hairstyle though. I wonder what some of the actors are up to these days.

The second guy from the left was in some movie I saw a while back. I can't think of the name of it. I think it had two sequels, too. And there was this guy in it, and he had a sword, or something, and that girl from Armageddon was in it, too. It was a pretty good movie.

The dude who played Chunk came to my undergrad a few years back to talk about his brief stint being a child actor and how he got out of it and moved on. He's a really accomplished lawyer now. He went out after the lecture for a few drinks and one of my pals had a few beers with him; said he was pretty hysterical.
