That's SICK.

As much as I would love to have that there is no way I'll be able to afford that.

I bet this will be available for preorder by next week, after Toy Fair is over. I'm posting it in the news now.

Well, it looks just amazing in those photos. I'm not down with the no-window cockpit, but I'll take it any way I can get it. Being minifig-scale was a brilliant touch! I love that the underside finally got its quad-cannon, and the open sections in the mandibles and main body really are open sections. I'm afraid it may cost over $300 though, maybe even $400 or $500, I can't imagine trying to pay for it.

02-10-2007, 07:00 PM
I was thinking the $500 range going with the normal LEGO prices (about $.10 per piece).

I'd love to get it and, although it's a friggin' ginormous set, it doesn't appear to be THAT monotonous looking a build. I don't see too many repetative steps in there.

I'm also wondering what the inside is gonna look like. If it's in scale to the minifigs I would really have to hope that they detailed the interior with the holochess board and all of those goodies!

02-10-2007, 08:02 PM
I'd like to see at least some pretense of an interior as well. As for pricing, at these piece levels they know they can't get the per-piece price of 10 cents average - the UCS AT-ST was only $80 and it had over 1000 pieces, the UCS Batmobile $70 at over 1000 pieces, the system Star Destroyer nearly 1400 pieces at $100. Then again, the UCS Star Destroyer was just over 3000 piece and $300. So there's no way to be totally sure on this.

What link did you click? S@H (http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?p=10179&cn=240&d=322) does have it listed and yes the price is $500 (ok $499.99). Lego says it will ship in October. Now this set is an ultimate collectors item.

Wow, that changed quick! It was no-order when I posted the news story.

Ok, I was gonna say.

When I saw it, it said something to the effect of it not being shipped to the States.

I want one, but for 500 bucks...I dunno. Probably not. But damn it is lovely.

02-10-2007, 11:13 PM
Yeah, it had a pop-up even before the page loaded letting us know that US orders weren't happening at that time, and no order info on the right side of the page.

$500 is currently too steep for my blood, but I am tempted. I think I'm going to have to see the inside of it to really get an idea of whether I'll go for it or not, and it also might help to show it in comparison to the other 2 LEGO Falcons.

I must have it..........droooooooollllllllllllll. Update, girlfriend says "NO". Will have to find away to hide this from her.

SSG coverage of the Falcon: http://photos.sirstevesguide.com/showgallery.php?cat=5275

Holy crap that thing is HUUUUGE! http://photos.sirstevesguide.com/showphoto.php?photo=20571&cat=5275

Doesn't look like a true interior though.

02-11-2007, 12:18 AM
No interior so it seems. I would still get one if I had the dough for it.

Holy crap that thing is HUUUUGE! [URL="http://photos.sirstevesguide.com/showphoto.php?photo=20571&cat=5275"]http://photos.sirstevesguide.com/showphoto.php?photo=20571&cat=5275 (http://photos.sirstevesguide.com/showgallery.php?cat=5275)Looks to be a bit bigger than the Hasbro version!! I wonder what the weight is on this sucker?

Doesn't look like a true interior though. That seals it then. I'll save the money. I understand that it would've been very very tough to pull off an interior AND have the proper bracing to keep it rigid but I had hopes. Not disappointed though. Still a great looking piece.

02-11-2007, 01:14 AM
A "bit" bigger? It looks twice as big I think, maybe more, it's a total monster.

02-11-2007, 05:25 PM
I wonder if it is flimsy though? I know when I pick up my Tantive IV, it wants to bend slightly, the UCS X-Wing seems a bit sturdier. The falcon however being as massive as it is, I could see certain parts being easier to pop off.

02-11-2007, 05:29 PM
I think why the Tantive bends is because it's 3 separate pieces held together by those little studs. They provide a bending point, whereas normal long studs give it rigidity. Kinda like the ISD (I don't have it) where in pictures you don't see it sagging at all. It's got a very rigid internal bracing...ummm...do-dad. Like I said earlier they had to sacrafice the interior of the Falcon for strutural integrity.

02-13-2007, 02:46 PM
Look at the pictures Steve took at the VIP bash, the LEGO rep picks the whole thing up and it doesn't fall apart or look saggy, it seems to have a significant framework.

02-13-2007, 03:03 PM
This thing looks HUGE. It seems to be more to scale with the mini-figs. There seems to be a little bit of interior, but I don't think the whole thing opens up. Luke fits in the gun turret. Did you notice his longer hair? My son and I are going to get this for Christmas. We were going to get the Star Destroyer, but glad we waited. I'd better pre-order soon to get that free shipping.

02-13-2007, 03:06 PM
Did you notice his longer hair? I noticed that as well. I'm not sure if I like it but I'm leaning more towards the not portion of it. It's not like Luke's locks were THAT long in the movie...

02-14-2007, 08:57 PM
I also noticed the long hair wig and didn't dig it, but I have a few Luke wigs laying around so it shouldn't be a problem.

FBTB has a little detail news about the ship: http://www.fbtb.net/

I honestly can't imagine hanging something this nifty from the ceiling, the underside has some detail this time but it's the least-interesting part.

02-20-2007, 12:02 PM
It's an impressive looking model, but man, that's a lot of dough for just one toy. I don't think I've ever spent more than $400 on any one LEGO set, and that was for an unopened Airport Shuttle (http://guide.lugnet.com/set/6399) monorail that had been out of production for years.

If the interior was a little more developed I'd be sold. Is that the ANH Leia from the original 7190 Falcon? I remember people shelling out $40-50 just for that mini-fig.

Is that the ANH Leia from the original 7190 Falcon? I remember people shelling out $40-50 just for that mini-fig.Well, the peach version anyway. Seems to come with Luke, Obi-Wan, Han, Chewie, and Leia.

Anyone ever snag one of these?
