But maybe you're thinking of something that could go wrong with my philosophy that I'm not seeing. Please tell me what you were thinking.

I understand you wanting to have a pleasant encounter every morning with the other collectors/scalpers and trying to be nice and social by having a conversation with them, especially when you are seeing them so frequently during the week. It's just that them knowing your financial status, might work against you. For example, last year I bought a new car and I remember Boxcar Willie (HW collector and "friend" to plumber Bob) telling me outside of target "Wow, it must be nice to be rich" as if I had just bought a Ferrari or something. For god's sake, it's a f***ing Toyota! Then I changed the wheels and rims and since, they think I must make a lot of money or something. They asked me how much I make and why do I bother going every morning to the store since I make so much money and could easily buy the stuff from ebay and have it delivered to my door. They now feel they have more rights to the stuff, because (in their minds) they have a financial handicap and I don't.
Sometimes when you are nice, people take advantage of that. I like to talk to people waiting outside the doors, but try to keep the subject about toys. If I feel the person has things in common with me, like a family, a job, etc. I might open up. But if it's a lowlife, who lives out of taking advantage of the system (gets workers comp., wellfare, etc. but can wake up every morning and run for Hot Wheels ), doesn't bathe, works in the porn industry, goes to Tijuana to have sex with minors (yes, I've heard one of this characters talking about doing this), then I don't think I will tell them much about me.
I don't know Tycho, maybe I'm just being too paranoid.

Anyway, let's go back to talking about our finds!

Alhambra TRU had 3 of the Bantha battlepacks this evening. They were all sagging a little though. I already have one, but I'm reporting it in case anyone wants one. Other than that, they didn't have much of anything. 3 TAC 2 figures: two ceremonial Luke's and one Han.

Rosemead Target still has plenty of Order 66, but Pico Rivera Target is starting to run out. It seems the sets with the 501st Airborne and Bow are being bought more than the others.

This is excellent stuff! I should have thought of that. I'll answer you because we're having a conversation about it, but I'm only preaching to the choir here.

1) Even if you have money, it is not limitless, and part of keeping it safe is not wasting it - say by paying over 3x retail for components to your hobby. Especially like how I want 4 Eopies (TPM) which I've never gotten. They are $45 or more on average on eBay, haven't checked for a while though. But they will be $19.99 in a battlepack if Hasbro re-issues them - with young Beru and Owen even if they are generous about it. Why pay over 5x the price there? Boxcar Willie, Headphones, etc. are just looking to earn a client with you. It's akin to a real estate agent asking you "how are the wife and kids?"

2) I luckily have almost no competition for Star Wars. The Hot Wheels guys who are regulars at my store, aren't scalpers, and they don't touch it. The one Star Wars guy who does show, collects 1-2 of everything and that's it. He's not really big competition, and won't come when he doesn't need anything. But you can tell he might be annoyed because if he does come and has to share with me, he might need to continue making trips to the store that we usually leave empty handed from.

3) If I bought from eBay or scalpers-dealers, it would help hurt everyone here, and raise the number of scalpers going for the stuff and make it harder for this one Star Wars guy, too. (He was nice today, btw) He just shares more comradery with the Hot Wheels guys. I also figure I'm the youngest there (maybe - it's a close call). But the Hot Wheels guys (most of them) are nicer to me than someone in my own hobby. Whatever.

El Puerco lives! unfortunately i saw him this morning at La Brea Target

Los Feliz TRU had all 4 of the exclusive titanium ultras this afternoon. i picked up the JSF. i also saw a wave 2 figure for the first time - Luke, but passed on it. if only i had gone there for opening instead of La Cienega TRU, i might've scored some of the other wave 2's.

I saw the Titanium Ultra Anakin Jedi Starfighter at TRU the other day. I have to admit it looked nice. I didn't post about it though as I don't collect those. Maybe I should have said something though.

The X-wing was there, too. I was curious, so I counted the wing stripes: 3.

That's Biggs Darklighter's ship! Sort of cool. It's off scale to the Jedi Starfighter though. The X-wing should be huge next to Anakin's little ship.

that's because the X-Wing is the old Action Fleet mold and by extension, the Republic Gunship should be huge next to the X-Wing :p

Hasbro really should've had the JSF Ultra in the very first wave instead of the Droid Fighter. who knows, it might actually have made a difference in the fate of the line.

Hey Crunchy, I was there looking for TAC and saw you grab that Bantha! I was in Van Nuys helping a friend move some furniture in his home and stopped at that TRU. What was weird was seeing Jackie Chan there too. He was bragging that he scored 3 Fetts at Burbank Target and that there were no other collectors at opening. After going every day of this week to that Target TAC hits on the one day I decided to wake up late, and to make it worse, Jackie Chan got the good stuff (by the way, he has no idea who McQuarrie is). :( Oh well.

Tech,

I was there yes, but that was my good buddy who posts as Darth Anton over at RS & JD who got the Bantha. Funny how there was only ONE on the shelf. It's been so long since I've run into any of the "usual suspects" that I didn't even recognize Jackie Chan.

Spotted and boughtted the newest Galactic Heroes at Target Pasadena.

TRU Los Feliz had a bunch of those Bantha battle packs, just the red variant, not the tan.

If you guys see a white TIE and Sassy Jedi Starfighter, odds are you missed the V-wing and Sith Infiltrator, stupid ****ing Hasbro put them in the case with the new vehicles. Jerks.

I feel like I've been out of the loop for a while cuz my wife finally had our baby last week. It's a boy...and yes, we've already watched Star Wars. It's been an interesting transition to parenthood I tell you.Congratulations! That's awesome, not sure what the ol' boy will get out of SW at only a week old, but better to get him into it now while you can... but no prequels. :D

The TRU CW Ultra Titanium Gunship was the first of the ultras i ever bought that came with that plastic display case so i was surprised at how difficult to unscrew the vehicle from the base. i really don't like the holes that it leaves on the bottom of the ship.Yeah, the screws are the biggest drawbacks to these, they leave holes and often stick. I had a Galactica where the screw completely sheared off in the vehicle, that sucked so bad.

Congratulations, Jeff!

Let me know when I can stop by to see lil' Crunchy. :)Oh man, I'm totally snickering to that one. :D I can't help it.

Picked up the TF Alternators Ravage on Saturday morningWhich WM did you find it at?

Check this out. I just offered my comments:

-No AFA grading
-Make improvements to HasbroToyShop (allow pre-orders, limit # of figures per customer, increase supply to match demand)
-Better case ratiosYeah, I shot their grading idea down in flames. I also blasted them with the following: "I collect 4 Hasbro lines - Star Wars, Titanium Series, GI Joe, and Transformers - in all 4 instances, product availability has dropped significantly due to poor case assortments and poor shipping schedules. Product availability has become the single most destructive aspect of collecting in my area, fueling horrible amounts of scalping which only worsens the situation. This is exacerbated by favorable product not shipping in later waves while less desired product continues to be restocked. The threat of missing an item has ruined the fun in collecting these toys. Please do more to address the problems of product availability."

Love those recommendations. I know some people don't like it when brick and mortar stores limit the number of figures you can get, but it's apples and oranges when someone can apparently buy 99 of a single figure online. I think it's reasonable to assume they're not mere army builders.Totally! Here's my feeling, if you're not going to make an infinite amount available to the public, then try to make sure everybody who wants 1 can get 1. Of course, why stupid ol' Hasbro can't make infinite amounts available of anything on their own site is beyond me.

That sucks. The closer you are to Frank & Scalpers, the worse the scalping (with Burbank being a possible exception, being the home of some of the most high-profile lowlifes in the SoCal area). The irony is that the closer you get to that wretched hive of scum and villainy, the more Targets and WMs there are to choose from.

Hasbro really should've had the JSF Ultra in the very first wave instead of the Droid Fighter. who knows, it might actually have made a difference in the fate of the line.A-freakin'-men brother! That Titanium Droid Tri-Fighter is so damn boring too, it's the only one I never bothered buying out of all the Ultras, they really brought nothing special to that party. Instead they gave us that and the underwhelming ARC-170 with its non-movable wings, and then pushed the boring-as-hell Slave I on us as well thus clogging shelves for the superior wave 2 and 3 entries.

Thank you. At 12:30pm (an hour after your post, CA time) I was able to order 6 DST and 2 Reb Honor Guards. Except for the Fetts (I don't plan on getting all McQuarries but I can make 2 Mandalorian Commandos out of this figure) I'm basically done with this wave.

I spent $9 and some change total (between 8 figures) with shipping over what I'd spend at retail. Now I didn't see a chance to put in your code, but the total was only $5.69 for shipping. I drive a V-8 Grand Cherokee, and I also like to sleep in when I don't get enough rest, so this was very convenient. I look forward to getting my figures. i understand that but the point i'm trying to make is that for casual customers and buyers of SW figures, having pegs full of TAC and Order 66 at the same time might hurt sales of the 2 packs. so they remedy this problem by putting only 2 pegs for TAC on the current planogram.

it could have been crack. some people are just like that, i happen to run into lots like that everyday.

I can't find them either Turbo. They were all gone that day I got the Sith Infiltrator (that I know you want so badly ;) )

Anyway, I get the feeling one of the Hot Wheels guys and the other regular Star Wars collector at my Target don't like me.

I've never done anything to them, but I may be (at least for the past 18 months or so) the new face at "their" Target since I've moved away from my old "lucky" Target.

Now I say "hello" and talk to some of them, some of the time, but I think they resent me for 2 reasons:

1) I'm new on their turf - which might have been "their turf" since at least 2004 or earlier, and I arrived late 2005. (not that I touch the Hot Wheels at all anyway)

2) Because I don't work. Those guys are off to their jobs after they hit the stores, but from talking to me, they know I go home and get back into bed. They know as well as some of you might, that I kind of have to. I know I'm lucky to be in my financial situation, but I don't need to suffer more stress and blood pressure issues (which nearly killed me in the first place) so that I can have solidarity with the rest of the world that works. If you were in my shoes, you'd be making the same choices that I do in that regard.

But anyway, since I don't butt into their conversations much or anything of the sort, I'm not even annoying by my behavior or conversational additions. I mean I know I like being a pariah at times when I'm trying to be, but when I feel like I'm being relegated that role without any reason for it, that can irk me.

I thought about it today because the one Hot Wheel guy brought a retail bag over to the Star Wars guy's car before they approached the door for "the waiting." They glanced my direction (could have been at the door - but you know me and my paranoias), and though I suppose it wasn't my business, I asked what was in the bag when they approached. They wouldn't tell me and joked that it was "crack." I didn't get upset (visibly) but I just instinctively thought to myself, "clandestine toy deal."

Any ideas what's up?

Well, as far as me working goes, I've perfected at least 225 pages of my novel to prepare it for final publishing form. Granted I'm sick, I mean semi-permanently, so I can't work a regular salaried or even time-carded job, but if this sells, I might make some pretty decent money. I still have probably 50 pages or so to add once they get straightened out. In a different way, that is a lot of work. Then comes the marketing after the writing is all over with.

What does that have to do with the Just Found Forums? I work differently than the morning hunters who go to jobs after they hit the stores. It's their problem if they don't like what they are doing for their work. As far as I am concerned, except for Fett, I am done with Wave 2 since I ordered them from Hasbro Toy Shop. (but maybe the real reason I bought them was just to annoy Stillakid ;) - J/K. When he was out of town I mailed him figures, Bikerscouts if I recall what we dealt with last).

i saw the Saesee Tinn TF at Smeagol Rock Target. Well, it's a good thing I didn't research the situation or anything to find out. It's wave-carryover dingleberries, Sassy's JSF and the white TIE are from vehicles wave 7 (Hasbro's sticking to the TSC asst number on these, I guess because stores were happy with that product line and didn't want to change it), wave 7 has been out for short while through multiple revision iterations with various earlier wave packed vehicles, and Hasbro doesn't think we're done looking for that repainted junk so they're refreshing it in wave 8: http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HS85196H

Wave 8 already has 5 revisions planned as well, all of them bad - some with even older releases, some with no V-wing or Sith Infiltrator, most of the revisions are 1-per-case on the new vehicles:
http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HS85196H1

http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HS85196H4
http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HS85196H5
(I'm fairly sure that last one is a mistype and it'll be Vader's JSF, not the TIE which isn't scheduled until a later wave, but maybe revision 5 is a precursor to wave 9)

Finally found the Concept Stormtrooper today at Los Feliz Toys R Us. They had their pegs full of TAC wave 1 and 2 (looked like at least 2 cases per). Only 1 Concept Stormtrooper and Boba Fett though. Another collector took the Boba Fett. There were several Death Star Troopers, but no Honor Guards, unless the other guy took them too, but even then it would have only been two. FYI - Upcoming case ratios...

Wave 5 - Juli/August 2007
1x Hermie Odle #29
1x C-3PO #30
1x Roron Corob #31
2x Yoda w/ Kybuck #32
2x Anakin w/ Tatoos #33
1x Darth Revan (Fan's Choice Figur) #34
1x Darth Malak #35
1x Pre-Cyborg Grievous #36
2x McQuarrie Luke Skywalker #37

Wave 6 - August/September 2007
2x McQuarrie Snowtrooper #50
3x Han Solo w/ Torture Rack #51
2x Lando Calrissian (Smuggler Outfit) #52
3x Rebel Trooper with McQuarrie headsculpt #53
1x 4-LOM (Super Articulated) #54

Wave 6 only has 11 figures listed, so there must be one more, it's just not named yet. Here's some thoughts and questions.
So a Kybuck must be pretty small for it to come on a basic card.

Is there any pics of Grievous before he was turned into a Machine?

Which Mcquarrie Luke will this be? That one from the C4?

Very happy to hear about Mcquarrie Snowtrooper and 4-LOM!

The Kybuck's pretty small... it only has to carry Yoda, after all :) It'd probably take up as much space on a bubble as a Droideka.

The 2 images after the headshot in Wookieepedia's Grievous article are of pre-cyborg Grievous: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Grievous

I'm hoping the Luke will be the same; the original source of the wave rumors came out before the CIV exclusive nonsense... hopefully it's the same Luke in regular packaging. No exclusive CIV card or coin. I don't care about those, I just want a bunch of Lukes with masks & such to customize :)

I'm hoping that the Luke is NOT the same as the CIV exclusive. When, in recent U.S. history, has there been an exclusive that has been the same figure as a basic release figure?

(European Saleucami Trooper & European VOTC Vader don't count)

Ok, so I was checking my Entertainment Earth order status and found that they have pulled the Thirtieth Anniversary WAVE 1 coin figures from the site. However my "status" still says backordered.

So I went over there today to find out what's going on. They were shorted on the shipment of WAVE 1 so they aren't taking anymore orders for it. The long and short of it seems to be that they just don't know if any more are coming, so I'm still officially "backordered" with no guarantee that I'll ever get what I ordered.

Waves 2-4 are on order still so no news there.

What this means for me I guess is that I have to assume that they'll pull a KEBCO on me and screw me over. The only thing to do is cover myself and look for the missing coin figures myself. It might mean caving into Ebay scalpers to do it. :( Taking stock tonight to see what's missing that i didn't pick up at retail yet (most of them).

So, if you have an order with EE, I'd check in with them to see where it stands.

Ciao.

I'm hoping that the Luke is NOT the same as the CIV exclusive.

I hope it is. I also hope that R2 and C3p0 get released on a regular card as well. The different coin that comes with the CIV exclusives could be enough to set it apart from the general releases.

(European Saleucami Trooper & European VOTC Vader don't count)

I guess that all depends on your perspective. Half of all the figures in the order 66 packs are straight repacks, the other half are just repaints.

The same goes with the Felucia pack.

I know you qualified your statement by saying "recent...history," but the Luke Skywalker figure they gave away in theaters with the rerelease of ROTJ SE was just a straight repack on a slightly different card.

Basically, if they do release these figures as both exclusives with a "unique" accessory, and a general release, then Hasbro has covered their rear-ends. We can't complain about not having access to figures and the people who go to the conventions get their exclusives.

I still think it'd be better to label Girl Luke "Leia" even in the rumors, even if the source art really is the early hybrid rather than the later Leia concepts (the ones dressed like the maskless Luke sketch with the upper-chest harness & computer-panel thing). I don't wanna have to pay through the nose just to get Luke for the duel (which probably won't happen since it's an HTS exclusive and will show up online anyway)... that's why I hope it'll be repacked at regular retail price. Same with the droids. I wish they'd done some 'metalized' paint-scheme for the CIV version so everyone could have a chance at the regular ones, clearly different, for a mass-market release. The coin and card are the real exclusive bits as far as I'm concerned, just like that ROTJ:SE Jedi Luke that was going for $100+ in '97.

Anyhoo... Burbank Target was a ghost town. Looks like someone returned a bunch of Lushros, I don't recall there being so many (or any!) recently, and most are beat-up. There was an AAT in the vehicles, but it's junk. A return, badly sealed, with no inner cardboard. Whether the vehicle's in it or not, there's SOMETHING rattling around in it. Best to avoid it. Probably a broken disassembled AAT, or just a bunch of junk. Someone on RS ran into a scam like that.

TAC pegs are down to ONE; after someone removed a tag from the 2nd one last week, it's been replaced with a TSC tag. The toy department redshirt arranged the figures 2 to a peg, with one peg having a few more, after I tried consolidating them (on a whopping 3 and a half pegs). He did the same with the three JLU figures they had, one on each peg with one JLU peg bare. All about presentation, I guess.

A few more strangers wandered in while I was roaming the aisles, including this large hispanic dude that was one of the strangers last week. He turned into the action figure aisle, but finding nothing there I found him at the Hot Wheels loading up. At least he doesn't show up right at 8.

They instituted a 2 figure per purcahse limit (on the same figures I guess)? Must have been just after I got 6 Death Star Troopers just to spite Stillakid. ;) Guess my hoarding and his complaining ruined it for everyone?

But they e-mailed me saying they shipped my 6. I'm sure everyone doing that left them swimming in Hans and Lukes.

They need to have a totally separate "military line," like SideShow. New card size, so employees at retail can stock them without mixing them, like Greatest Hits, and then do all the troop builders for 3 3/4" that way. That way if the pegs get bought out, the smart systems in stores will order more military line and characters like Lushros or even Han and Luke, or Obi-Wan and R2D2 won't pile up.

The inventory at HTS would be affected in the same positive way.

Alhambra Target had 1 Sith Infiltrator. I'm passing on this and the V-wing so if anyone wants me to stash any of these in the SG Valley, let me know. Though I think they'll become easy to find eventually.

Temple City KMart must have had TAC 2 this morning. I only saw a Luke and a Han. Rosemead Target had squat but Obi Wans and R2s. If I'd gone to KMart first I might have found the Fett, who knows. But KMarts are so inconsistent with having stuff, who ever knows to even bother to go there first?

I was able to hit Alhambra TRU this morning but they also didn't have much of TAC. There was only one other guy there. He was going through all kinds of stuff and gabbed on a cellphone. Maybe I'm wrong, but when I see that, I think dealer.

Hasbro's distribution of TAC has been pretty sad so far, but at least we're not drowning in Rieekans, Derlins, and R2s like last year when Wave 2 hit like a freight train at TRUs and, later, Targets. That much TAC Wave 2 would be nice, but not when all the Fetts, DSTs, and RHGs get scooped up by a couple people (or managers, at Burbank TRU) leaving pegs of Hans, Lukes, and Biggseseses.

Burbank Target was another bust today; more of the new GHs, but that's it. Picked up the Royal Guard & DSG, left the rest for now.

Well they certainly weren't at Burbank Target! I hope they throw out a peg for 'em soon, or just put 'em on the bottom Galactic Heroes peg or something. Just more revision stuff today, weird bits from various waves: a Combat Engineer, another Rieekan, Coruscant Obi-Wan, R5-J2, Endor Trooper, Grievous, Kashyyyk droids, Hoth R2... enough to fill a few pegs. Again, Target employees put figures on the TAC peg.

Someone bought the AAT! Or it was removed from the floor if it really had crap in it. There's enough space for more vehicles now, so maybe tomorrow'll have a V-wing or two. If I spot one and nobody else is there, I'll pick it up rather than stash it.

I passed because I'm not that into most of the vehicles, but the V-Wing does look cool. The one in San Dimas(I think it's that one, the one of the 210) and the Pico Rivera had some.

Out early to a Valley Target this morning to finally get a Wii (Target has them in the ad) and found some TAC, wave 2 revision 1 (12 different figs). One other guy had the McQuarries, and a few others and offered to share a Death Star Trooper. I passed, as I ordered Wave 2 from EE so I should be set. Not sure if it was one of you guys or not, but if it was, thanks anyway for the offer.
I did stash one of 2 V-Wings there though. PM for location. These will probably be abundant, but they are cool. After the Target reset, hence the clearance stuff, I'm sure there will be more pegs for TAC.
Interestingly, I was punching in a DPCI for Battle packs of which there were none but I wanted to see if they are on clearance if they had some, (WEHO still has them regular price) I put in a wrong number and up popped the Tie Bomber at 24.99. Burbank Target had Wave 2 this morning. I picked up the only DS Trooper (my 2nd) and both Fetts. Too many employees & other customers wandering around to stash so I figured I'd just get 'em both and stash later (brings me up to 3 for myself, one for g/f's son, good stopping point for awhile). All that's left for vehicles are 3 Hailfires; no sign of comic 2-packs, and now there are NO tags for TAC on the pegs. I should've fought for $6.64 for my 3 figs since they were on TSC pegs :p That last TAC peg's entire tag-holder was gone. Still a few TSC figures scattered around, tons of Endor 3POs, 2 Rieekans, an Endor Rebel, and both Rep Beens and Naboo Obi-Wans.

2 new guys waiting outside; one entered just behind Bob & Willy, then cut around them and ran. Bob yelled out "Hey, no running in the store!" right as the guy ran past a manager. Funny to see. The noobs were heading to Hot Wheels, and complaining about Bob & Willy getting in their way as they entered the store (hence the one guy running). He was full of it. Glad he and his little buddy didn't find anything!

I got 2 V-wings this morning at Target! Whooo-hooo! I opened one up in my truck while sitting in the parking lot. There's a lot of parts to put on, but it is one of the best vehicles Hasbro has ever done. A nice surprise!

As soon as I got home I put a Shadow Pilot on board one. I might have to have 4 of these instead of 2. It's that good.

I want a "wing" flying (hanging from the ceiling with good 'ol fishing wire) and I might make a hanger display with pilots and firespeeder guys, astromechs, etc.

Then again, maybe I'll come to my senses and find something better to do with my money (not only for more ships, but figures, etc.) I'll be thinking about that today for sure.

I decided to buy the V-wing this morning from a Wal-Mart. It really is a great looking ship. I don't know if it's the paint, but it just looks better quality, with more vivid colors, than most other ships.

I ordered wave 2 (the 1/2 case) on 3/30/07 at 3:29pm and haven't heard anything from EE. My account still says "on backorder".

I wonder if it's because I first emailed and then went to the store in person to complain inquire about the fluid status of Wave One. Perhaps someone nice there was trying to appease me or something as I've also got quite a few hundred dollars worth of other orders pending as well.

Or maybe it's just luck of the draw. :lipsrsealed:

Hey Toonimator, hook a buddy up with those McFetts, will ya?
Sure! I can only part with one though, the other's for g/f's son. I'm at Target at 8am pretty much every day lately so that's the best time to meet up  Weekends are more flexible of course!

After another DS Trooper for fodder, I'll have had my fill of Wave 2 for awhile. Fett's the only other figure right now I've got definite custom plans for and will get a couple more for sure... had some ideas of mixing Fett parts with McStormie parts to create an elite squad for him in his role as Super Stormtrooper, in addition to making KOTOR-era and Saga-era Mandalorians. Hopefully he'll be in rotation all year! Extra Lukes, Hans, and an extra Honor Guard for an Indiana Jones custom can wait!

Some wave 1 TAC at Target LA Cienaga, got there a little late so good ones already gone. Found galatic hero Darth Vader with removable helmet. Target on Jefferson had another Vader removed from coin album and shows a price of 9.99, no other TAC though.

Nope, there was a Wave 2 revision case today. One Fett, one DS Trooper, a Galactic Marine, a couple Hans & Lukes maybe, Lava Miner, Obi-Wan, R2. The big hispanic guy that's been showing up lately took the Trooper and Marine, I'm pretty sure; swabie picked up Fett for a friend I think. I picked up a V-wing, if anyone local wants it!

Got to Target late, only a Mace Windu on the pegs. The complete lack of people in the toy section or at registers says there was nothing anyway... except the Runner and his buddy in the Hot Wheels section, along with another guy the Runner was educating on the cars.

I returned the V-wing I picked up yesterday, so if anyone wants one zip on down to Burbank Target today! There's still a Sith Infiltrator in the toy aisle.

Funny thing today was there were 3 V-wings (I bought 2) and NO Sith Infiltrators. If you looked at the quality issue, it should be the other way around. But I'm so happy with this ship I own 4 of them now. I hope I'm satiated. Now I have to find pilot figures, firespeeder pilots, and astromechs to catch up with all of this.

Just when I thought I was going to cut back on Star Wars... (technically, that is still true - but I don't see more new vehicles being released in the next few months at the very least).

I also bought a Saga2 C-3PO with interchangeable head since I was never thrilled that the Illum Battle Pack came with a gold C-3PO instead of the AOTC version. My store had 6 pegs of Saga2, 2 pegs of TAC, with the only TAC being 1 Mace and 1 R2D2.

You can cross astromechs off your list, since the V-wings use a particular kind of astromech, the Q7-series. Just get a big marble the size of the droid-head on the ship and paint it :p Apparently they're spherical droids with repulsors in their lower hemisphere, no real bodies or legs. I don't mind that explanation, as the droid on the ship's too small & off-model to your average R2 figure anyway!

Went to Target near the 710 fwy and Paramount (City) today- they had lots of TAC Obi/R2/Mace- and wouldn't get any from the back because they are collectibles. The guy told me that they won't get more stock out until the pegs are empty- and that guys like me tend to either hide them or buy and return stuff, so they won't accomodate me. Hasbro is really dropping the ball by not flooding the retail/online outlets with these.

Well, I'd be using the astromechs (1-2) of them as external ground grew service along with firespeeder pilot dudes. I think it was figrin bran who took an awesome picture of a hanger scene he made like that. I want to be unoriginal for a bit here and copy that one. I so admired it and I love this ship. So I need 5 more pilots, 2 Firespeeder pilots, 1-2 astromechs now.

Well, he was speaking in general terms, not pointing directly at me, but insinuating that I had unethical motives like the others he'd dealt with. The whole thing sucks, and there's just no way to win. On the other hand, he says they have the same policy for wrestling figures- god I hate those wrestling figures- they bring out the worst type of people, and I've seen it infect all ages, genders and ethnicities. There's just nothing cool or admirable about collecting those things.

Some of 'em seem like they'd make good custom fodder for those working in the Marvel Legends/DC Superheroes scale. I've looked at a few, there's some decent ones. The women seem to have nicer builds & articulation than most Hasbro/Toy Biz ladies... but the wrestling ladies' faces are all pretty nasty-lookin (the figures, not necessarily the women they're based on!). Too manly, most of 'em.

Anyhoo, Burbank Target was still lacking new TAC. Mace is still hanging around from yesterday, but Coin Albums are 50% off! I finally picked one up, along with TF Classics Optimus Prime (also half-off as the Classics give way to movie toys, I imagine; didn't seem like the Cybertron toys were marked down). Lots of POTC stuff clearanced, too, nearly everything but the figures.

That's why I DO go to store openings. I won't pay these guys to grab these figures up and then scalp them to me, nor visit them at the Swap Meet (the closest thing we have to Frank & Scalpers)

But seeing Headphones running through a parking lot with a Target bag is a funny image. I've never seen him, but I picture a guy wearing the same crusty sweatsuit everyday, a radio headset of course, greasy unkempt hair, but not enough money to afford a car of his own. Perhaps he was racing across the lot to a bus stop?

Furthermore, (to Jango Speck) that employee insulted all of us when he insulted you. It's his job to stock and assist customers. If they have a store policy to not go into the back after stuff, then that's all he needs to say. It's not his right to reflect a prejudicial judgement on you or any other customer who asks for help. He can't say, "we don't assist black people, Jews, gays, Republicans, transgenders, whatever." In a toy isle, "collectors" as a demographic subgroup is going to be the most common. It is a slur when he says that and implies that collectors are also scalpers.

Back to what you were saying about not "doing the mornings," - I bet all of us would love to saunter in at 3pm or stop over after work and before dinner for a brief reprieve from rush hour or something, and find exactly whatever it is we're looking for on the pegs / shelves and so forth. But that's never been the way this hobby worked, unfortunately.

You're lucky when you get product that way.

That being said, it would be torture to be on these boards and be posting, "I just found 2006 Lushros Dofine MOMC" while someone else making a morning run just got the 2008 figures from the Clone Wars TV show by out-pacing Dirty Sanchez and Plumber Bob.

Just wanted to mention that the two figures I got from Hasbro today were in great shape- no bent cards or dented bubbles. I was sure they'd arrive damaged because they were wedged into a large box with 5 cases of Hasbro Cases. Everthing was great, and only covered in a small layer of bubble wrap.

Tycho: During ROTS, Target used to stock the pegs several times a day- so I could show up early, midday or late and have a good chance of finding stuff. The fact that they don't do midday stocking at all is why their policy of not getting stuff from the back is really frustrating. Their policy is achieving the very thing they claim to want to avoid- a frenzy of 8am collectors/scalpers getting everything, and kids getting nothing but disappointment. This whole problem would go away if the online retailers would carry this stuff in mass quantity.

This whole problem would go away if the online retailers would carry this stuff in mass quantity.

The problem with that is Army Builders and scalpers will still cause problems.

I ordered 6 DSTs from HasbroToyShop like almost the HOUR before they instituted a 2 per customer limit (so I hear). Luckily I only wanted 6. If they were up and running back during AOTC, I'd have ordered 40 SA Clones, as soon as I could. That is how many I wanted.

Now with a limit per order, I have to play a game even with them to get an army (fortunately there's nothing left I really need an army of). Should a scalper get to an online source before me, they'll consume my army and put them on eBay or at their store, etc.

In the meanwhile, there best be at least 6 people that want anorexic Han with iPod and Cancer-Treatment Luke, else HasbroToyShop is going to be stuck with my leavings.

There needs to be a military line, case assortment, or whatever. It's Hasbro's game plan to push as many Hans and Lukes on their retail partners as they do the troopers. That hasn't worked for 12 years. Enough already.

And those of us who want armies should be allowed to purchase them - but in a way so there is enough for everyone who wants an army to get one at retail price and in a decent amount of time.

figrin bran
05-04-2007, 12:20 AM
Tycho, if you ever make that Militaries of SW proposal as a petition, i would support it fully.

Before HTS' limit, i could order as many troops as i wanted and get free shipping with coupon codes. now since we can only get 2 of each trooper, there's no way we can get enough to qualify for free shipping and so unless we want to pay for shipping, it's just not economical. i usually cap off at around 10 troops but for someone like Jedi Master Sal, this has more of an adverse effect.

Jango Speck
05-04-2007, 12:45 AM
I'm not saying there should be a two per person limit on everything- but maybe on whatever is "new" and "in-demand"- but a 24hour ordering limit on any like items might work. The flip side is that Hasbro needs to keep their damn web store stocked and up to date. There should be pre-orders, email me when in-stock notices, and accurate availability estimates. I'm an army builder, but I'm willing to buy over time if I know I'll have a fair shot at getting what I want. Paying for shipping sucks, but that's life- shipping costs are a no-brainer trade-off for not having to go out and hunt (IMO). I think the retail stores should just realize that there is a lot of demand and go the extra mile to do midday restocks so that everyone has a fair shot.

Tycho
05-04-2007, 04:20 AM
It's their case assortments. They set the production numbers and receive the cases as they are packed for any other retailer here in the US. That being said, in response to you:

The flip side is that Hasbro needs to keep their damn web store stocked and up to date.

How many Hans & Lukes (and eventually Biggs) should they be stuck with and pay for storage for while we army build the DST and RHG, and get at least 2 Fetts per individual? Their stock storage will look the same as Wal-Mart's warming pegs.

Paying for shipping sucks, but that's life- shipping costs are a no-brainer trade-off for not having to go out and hunt (IMO).

I'd agree. But there is some thrill of the hunt, though I don't have competition like you do at my stores near where I live.

I think the retail stores should just realize that there is a lot of demand and go the extra mile to do midday restocks so that everyone has a fair shot.

There's not really a lot of demand. They have probaly thousands of customers every day. There are at best 20 regulars that at some point scour their toy isle on a daily basis. Believe me, they can live without us shopping there. Furthermore, even a specialty toy store like TRU has hundreds of customers, and maybe only 20-30 per day (maximum) that are specifically adults looking for Star Wars (for collecting or scalping them). Finally, HasbroToyShop sells ParkerBrothers board games to people online shopping for birthdays. Their business model wouldn't be profitable either if it were just kept open to increase the convenience of Star Wars collectors.

I'm afraid it doesn't work that way.

Figrin, thank you for your support for Militaries of Star Wars case / collection assortments. It is the only way I see even HasbroToyShop being improved. They could keep their "armor and officers" in production and maintain a re-ordering practice for them regardless of worries over stockpiling Lushros Dofine or Biggs or Luke. To help the retailers, a different card SIZE and style is the only way to go so "Heroes and Villains" or "Greatest Battles" don't clog the pegs with the military end-stop stock labels. Right now, Target is pretty efficient with 4 racks of Saga and 2 racks of TAC. (Most of us would like that reversed, but it will be in June). In any event, employees who know nothing about Star Wars can see the TAC and Saga2 are different products. But Saga2 and GB or H&V all look pretty much the same even to us. Yet that strangely cut TAC card with a coin in it stands out, huh? So would a extra larger or extra smaller MoSW card on which basically ships troop builders. If they're going to supply a lot, and these figures are going to be opened, smaller cards would help them stock a lot. They could be in packages as narrow as the Titanium ships even. For carded collectors, the same figure could ship on a TAC card, but if you're an army builder and your MoSW figures are in stock and an obvious alternative, you could just leave the TAC carded versions of the troops alone. What do you need the card for when you can buy your whole army on the peg next to it.

JediTricks offered the only reasonable (but not actually reasonable) objection to my proposal - that the retailers don't want to handle so many skus. Well handling them would make them more money. Isn't that what they are in business for? As to HTS - it's their product! They should do whatever it takes to support it.

Finally, if this solution was ever implimented, it's almost 12 years late. (I don't think that in 1995 they foresaw as many adults army building as they wound up with - especially by 1997, but the lessons could have been learned then).

In 1997 we had:

Stormtroopers
TIE Pilots
Luke as SOTE Coruscant Guard (army built as grunt)
Sandtroopers
Death Star Gunners
Tusken Raiders
Jawa 2-packs
AT-ST Drivers
Hoth Rebel Soliders
Rebel Fleet Troopers
Snowtroopers
Gamorrean Guards

That's 12 figures right there (a standard case) that could have actually been done:

REV 1
2 x Stormtroopers
1 x TIE Pilots
1 x Luke as SOTE Coruscant Guard (army built as grunt)
2 x Sandtroopers
2 x Death Star Gunners
1 x Tusken Raiders
1 x Jawa 2-packs
1 x AT-ST Drivers
1 x Hoth Rebel Soliders
Rebel Fleet Troopers
Snowtroopers
Gamorrean Guards

REV 2
2 x Stormtroopers
1 x TIE Pilots
Luke as SOTE Coruscant Guard (army built as grunt)
1 x Sandtroopers
1 x Death Star Gunners
Tusken Raiders
Jawa 2-packs
1 x AT-ST Drivers
2 x Hoth Rebel Soliders
2 x Rebel Fleet Troopers
2 x Snowtroopers
Gamorrean Guards

REV 3
1 x Stormtroopers
1 x TIE Pilots
Luke as SOTE Coruscant Guard (army built as grunt)
Sandtroopers
Death Star Gunners
Tusken Raiders
1 x Jawa 2-packs
1 x AT-ST Drivers
2 x Hoth Rebel Soliders
2 x Rebel Fleet Troopers
2 x Snowtroopers
2x Gamorrean Guards

and so forth. The stormtroopers would likely be kept in circulation until 1999 when the CommTech would replace him or a stock pile-up might occur (who could see that though?)

The TIE Pilot would ship as long as TIE fighter vehicles were shipping. That'd make sense. That is also why I kept the AT-ST Driver in circulation.

The Sandtrooper's rank (paint job) could be changed and he returned to circulation periodically, up until 2001 when he saw his POTJ update.

Luke Coruscant (SOTE) might get a Lando version update, and be reintegrated at some point.

The Death Star Gunner, Tusken Raider, etc. The Hoth Rebel might see a non-goatee version (like the head sculpt from the Deluxe figure) enter the assortment as a running change. The last 3 (Snow, Gamorrean, Rebel Fleet Trooper might be scaled back as the 1998 and 1999 Militaries of Star Wars lines adjusted:

And it could go on and on. This would've been the smart way to do it. Think of the figure sales and the way the case assortments could have moved!

They could have taken until 1997 to get a clue (and enough figures to offer the assortment in the first place).

Burbank Target only had Transformer movie preview figures today... I picked up Optimus. REALLY annoying that the instructions are backwards (vehicle to robot, while he's packed in robot mode) and he reminds me of a Rock Lord from the GoBots crossed with the two guys from Masters of the Universe that folded into meteors. Cool robot though!

I agree with Tycho that some army-building revisions would be great. Hasbro's argued against them time & again, but I think some retailers would go for a wave of them if they were packed wisely. This year so far we've got Marines, Airborne, DSTs, RHGs, SBDs, McStormie, Wave 3 Stormie, and probably a few clones in later waves along with more rumored McQuarrie troopers (not to mention the tons of army-builders in the Legends line), plenty for a few assortments of JUST troopers.

Tycho, having trouble sleeping?

Definitely. I crashed at like 10pm on Thursday night after posting about Smallville. Then I woke up at Midnight, and aside from a nap from like maybe 4:30am-8am, I've been up. Made Target and Toys R Us (story below) and had a good morning on the hunt.

Anyway, I recommend making giant lists out of Star Wars toys for all insomniacs. Here's one I'm just about ready to attempt: list the serial numbers for every carded figure since 1995 :crazed: - if you ever see me doing this - don't post a response - just send sleeping pills fast!

The Militaries of Star Wars Collection: Officers and Armor! (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34961) - This one's for Toominator and everyone else (especially JediMasterSal). JediTricks, your opinion is welcome.

TODAY'S STORE REPORT:

I got 2 Quinlan / Villie Comic 2-packs (still looking for more of this one. It is awesome! *scenes I'm hoarding them for will be listed below)

I got 1 Obi-Wan / Alpha 2-pack (and left 1 - I knew others were looking for them at nearly the same time I was. I actually offered 1 of my Quinlans, but the guy knew me and what I did with them, and he offered me the 2nd Quin pack back)

I bought probably 6 different POTC figures - seemingly some from a new wave. They are for random humans on Tatooine and Coruscant (see the custom / diorama forum for my recommended usage)

****

1) Quin vs. Dooku
2) Quin, Obi-Wan, vs. Ventress
3) Quin w. Aayla
4) Quin w. Villie vs. bounty hunting aliens
5) Quin v. Mace Windu
6) Quin w. Villie vs. Kashyyyk BARC Troopers during Order 66
7) Quin in Mos Espa during TPM
8) ? I forgot

1) Villie in Outlander
2) Villie at Podrace
3) Villie in Mos Espa
4) Villie w. Quin - same as above
5) Villie w. Maul & Sidious Hologram (Jedi Council: Acts of War)
6) Villie w. Quin - same as Order 66 scene above
7) Villie in Dexter's Diner

Anyway, isn't 8 enough?

Burbank Target had full pegs of Saga once again- they were practically empty yesterday. :(

There was one TAC Super Battle Droid from yesterday, and the Luke that I returned last night. I'm guessing that means they didn't put any TAC out today. Looks like all the Vader/Albums are gone (didn't see them yesterday either.)

Anyone have a DS Trooper leftover?

Someone you think is a cool Star Wars Collector ends up to be a total JERK! I've help some people out on these boards... I've even helped him out in that store and he throws collecting edict out the window today!! The guy with the long hair that drives the Mustang is a A-HOLE! Today they stocked the TAC revision wave at Target... I grab a Boba and he does also. But then I go down to the bottom peg where there is a McStormie and grab it... then as I am taking it off of the peg he just takes it out of my hands saying he needs that one! Where's the edict with this guy! If he woulda just asked I would of been more then happy to hand it over to him!!! He should know that being that I handed him a V-Wing a while ago just because I really don't need to buy vehicles right now and he was bummed he didn't get one! What a Jerk! So I know Toon and Swabie know him and see him at that store and sometime TRU but beware. He's not as cool as you think... He'll just grab it even if it's in your hand.. Oh Yeah! and he proceeded to talk trash about me to some other guy I've never seen before as IO over heard it on the other aisle. That's when I got really made and gave him a piece of my mind! What an A-HOLE!!!!

Man, that sucks!!! I got there late this morning cuz I felt like crap when I woke up, I saw him in the register line and figured I missed out on stuff, but there was plenty of non-McQ figures left. Didn't know there was drama similar to the Hot Wheels fiasco on Saturday! Sorry I wasn't there to toss out a "Dude, WTF?"

So I picked up a DST (one left on pegs along with a pair of Lukes, 3 Hans, and 1 each of Mace, Obi, R2, Miner, RHG, SBD, Airborne, and GM.. I think that's it, but it was definitely nice to see so many on the pegs when the Target employees don't even have the right tags out!) and another POTC Marty for custom fodder.

Jango had it right yesterday, nothing great out. Skipped TRU since it was a bust on Saturday, saw Spidey 3 instead :)

You shouldn't be done just because of what someone says about you.

1) That they are even talking about you means that you are somehow important in their lives.

2) You are probably important in their lives because you offer them competition towards the only thing they care about (finding their little toys at Target / TRU etc.) What does that say about them?

3) Hiding from someone like this is so not worth it. Perhaps someone who's so reality challenged as this guy will become intimidated by you continually being there and change stores themselves even?

I got into ONE fight over action figures in my 12 years back at this hobby. There is apparently an unwritten rule (at least down here in my neck of the woods) that the order you arrive outside of the store to wait in the morning is the order that you enter. It does make sense when you think about it. Just when I was younger and started this as a teenager, I didn't pay attention to that. There were just a few 40 -50 year old adults hanging out there with interest in acting as scalpers or something, and I was there to buy for ME at retail, not pay them for doing what I wouldn't be too lazy to do for myself.

So there was one guy who used to even come up to my car and converse with me and my little brother when we would go out searching for the stuff. I liked him and he was always nice. He'd first go to Hot Wheels when the doors opened, so I never really thought he was too concerned with what I did in the Star Wars isle. He'd come over to Star Wars when he was done with Hot Wheels or if there weren't any. Since I army-built / might hoarde due to my collecting circle, he never seemed to buy much Star Wars. He was there though, so I'd offer to share what I'd found. Once in a while I think he'd accept and he'd even offer me things in his stash, I think. It was 7:05 in the morning and I'm sure we each would have rather been shopping at 10am instead, but we don't have that luxury in this hobby.

Anyway, I was to learn that because I might arrive later but launch myself in the doors when they opened, I earned his contempt. I thought no one else cared. I wasn't going to their Hot Wheels. I never touch the cars - in 12 years! But he suddenly stopped speaking to me. I'd say "hello" to him or initiate conversation, and he'd just ignore me and stare straight ahead. I thought, "whatever." It was his problem not mine.

Anyway, I never stopped going to the same stores. Finally, one day, ironically I think it was the Christmas season (how ironic of course), that he threw an arm out and blocked my way. Then he tried to hold me back away from the toy isles. He said I was either ignorant or "a jerk," though he used language I'd be censored over here. It was the first thing he'd said to me in like a year. An intelligent, mature human being would have discussed a problem with me a long time ago instead of obviously ignore a problem they had with me. (I think he actually explained things to me then - while we were pushing each other - or it was another collector that did so later. I don't remember). Anyway, I guess he thought I'd have backed down. On the contrary, if he'd have thrown a punch, I would have finished it. I think I surprised him because I'm smaller and had no fear and was ready and well trained to grapple or fight if necessary. That wasn't going to be a solution.

In any case, I would not be intimidated. Funny thing is, he barely ever shows up at my stores any more. I saw him this past week at Toys R Us - a store I rarely go to actually. I just usually do Target, sometimes Wal-Mart (but they're 24 hr now - annoying actually).

But while I'd rather not deal with someone like that - they seem to rather not want to deal with me. If I keep going, they do not. All the same, if he starts talking to me again, I'll talk to him and let by-gones by by-gones. I don't know if he knows this. I don't care. The world's a better place if we all could get along. But for those that won't get along with me - I'll stand taller.

I suggest you never surrender, JodyB. Go kick some butt for the SSG Team!

Man, I'd never let some idiot take something from my hand. I don't care if it's an action figure or a gallon of milk. That's one thing that would probably set me off. I've heard of it happening, but I've never seen anyone be so bold. Most of the guys I see in my area I'm fairly confident I can kick across the parking lot. Not that I'm Conan the Collector mind you--but let's just say the macho threshold isn't very high.

I haven't been hitting the stores recently. I still have not seen a McFett around my area, even when I do hit the stores. I'm probably just not there at the right time. You miss a day and you never know what you miss.

That totally blows Jody. I remember at Target opening on 4/2 I got to the pegs first and found me a few red Royal Guards(they only had three and I had em all). I handed the other 2 to people there that were looking for them. A few months later one guy started popping about me on another forum and tried to callme a scalper. I confronted him on his board and actually he apologized and we became good collecting friends hooking eachother up. At least mine has a happy ending. Let me know if ya want me to fly out to LA and head butt him for ya.

My SW competition in the morning put them back on the racks which were otherwise all-Saga2.

Anyway, I left it. I first got all excited, hoping it would be Fett.

I bought a Saga2 Firespeeder pilot last night at Wal-Mart. It must have been hidden or a return. But I wanted 2 more of those guys to copy CrunchyNug's diorama and that was "1 down and 1 to go" for me now.

I still have to find 3 more Shadow Pilot Clones. I only like the white Clone Pilots for ARC 170's.

Ah, I love vacation! Got two McFetts at 10:30 a.m. this morning at Baldwin Park Target. I actually hit Covina TRU but they only had leftovers of TAC 1; I was coming home and at the last second decided to turn into that Target.

When I saw the TAC 2 on the pegs I actually said, "Ah crap" because I just couldn't imagine finding McFetts that late. I thought I was seeing the left behind figures. But sure enough behind a DST I found the first, then on the other peg found the other. I was tempted to get a second DST but decided not too.

Rosemead Target had the same TAC 1 leftovers. Covina TRU had at least 2 V-wings and even more Sith Infiltrators.

By the way, came back from Tijuana and they had the Titanium Darth Maul and Pilot Luke at a department store there. It figures TJ would have these but the stores around here wouldn't!

None of us locals got an email from GG- and since I didn't get the advanced warning email from them yesterday, I assumed that I wouldn't get one today. I was watching rebelscum this morning and checking the GG site and noticed that some guys got through, so I tried it out by navigating GGs site, and it worked! They went up for sale at about 10:15am. At about 2:30-3, I decided to go by Toys R Us and they'd just stocked the new Comic 2-packs. I bought 2 Quinlan Vos.

Then I decided to push my luck and let my greed get the better of me. I got 2 more at the next Toys R Us. While I was there a guy came in and bought all the rest (Luke & R2s, Obi-Wan and Alphas) and a lot of the collecting tins and Tantive IV battle packs. I don't know that he was, but he looked like a scalper for doing that! I was glad I'd beaten him by only 10 minutes or something. (I was sticking around because I'm friends with an employee or several there and we were having a conversation. I usually get stuff and fly with it so no one takes unpurchased product out of my hands. I stayed out of that guy's sight so he wouldn't ask, "Oh can I have one of those?" If a kid was looking for them - fine. I'd be the first to share. But this guy looked like a scalper.

Anyway, I now have 6 Quinlan / Villie 2-packs and only need 2 more (or 1 complete shipment's worth). I seem to get all of them that hit the central stores in San Diego County.

Just wondering: for us L.A. locals, what's the best way to get to the CIV show without driving/paying for parking? Can we park for free at the metrolink stations and take a train to downtown? Would I need to take a taxi from the train station to the convention center, or is it walkable?

For you, you would take the Metrolink from Burbank down to Union Station and then take the Metro Redline to the 7th and Figueroa station. from there it's about 4 or 5 blocks to the Convention Center. or you could transfer to the Metro Blue Line and get off at the Pico Station which is directly across from the Convention Center. I'm not sure if parking is free at the Burbank Metrolink station and actually there are two of them - one by the airport, the other near the Mall. i would think it's free but i'm not sure. As for going back home, I'm not sure how late the Metrolink trains run but i would imagine that after rush hour, there probably aren't that many running and so you might want to check the schedules out first or else risk being stranded in downtown!

also, i want the Quinlan comic pack but won't be able to meet up with you tomorrow. i'm sure it won't be that hard to find so if you just want to return it, that's cool.

I planned on taking the train from Universal Station down when I go to CIV , any money and time saved on parking will be better spent on exclusive figures!

Don't know where in the world it came from, but I bought a VOTC Boba Fett today in Pacoima Target. Was 3.26, with a clearance sticker on it. I can't imagine it was a return with a receipt from that long ago, but I thought, I was going to pick up a Legends Boba anyway to open, so this is at least cheaper.
Still waiting on my wave 2 case from EE.

I keep hearing the Los Feliz TRU restocks the new comic 2 packs with every shipment. Just picked up a set yesterday.
I was there at opening today, and they don't have any pegs for them. Not that it'd stop 'em, but it'd be nice if there was at least an empty peg to show there was nothing new!

I missed Burbank Target opening today (went on the Santa Clarita run), but when I got down there at 9:30 they had Vader/Rebel and Han/Chewie comic 2-packs on the bottom peg of basics... does that mean they got in Wave 2? Anyone there at 8?

Santa Clarita was largely a bust. I picked up a couple WWII figures for fodder, and the WM-exclusive Venom. The newest SW any of the 3 WMs had was an Obi-Wan at one and an R2 at another... no Saleucami BPs, no regular BPs, hardly any vehicles. The Target up there had a V-wing, but only one column of figures, all TSC pegwarmers, wedged between SW Transformers and movie Transformers, I think. Pathetic sight.

TRU La Cienega had about 16 of the Ultra Titanium ships. Guess the break down is 4 of each. I found one Sith Infl. and stashed it. PM me and I'll let you know where. They had a weird SW TAC assortment on the pegs. Must be a revision case unless it was from post raided cases from the stock room. Included Han, Galactic Mar., Lava M., Mace, Obi, R2s, No Concept figs at all. The lady who stocks that section said, " I just put out some SW stuff"... kind of embarrassing when TRU employees know what you are looking for-:D

I was there this morning too. Even if they'd had anything, I would have missed out. Several "scalpers" were (running) ahead of me and by the time I got to the Star Wars aisle, they had already run off to Wrestling figures and Hot Wheels.

The new comic book wave is shipping with Vader/Rebel and Han/Chewie. So if you see them on the shelf, it's a good chance you missed the new ones.

Sounds like it's time to beat them at their own game again. When SW is fresh you have to beat them to the finish line. When it dies off you can walk like a sane person. I woke up too late so I didn't bother. Maybe tomorrow.

You probably saw me, DA, since I showed up about a minute after opening. Big brown beard, pony tail, shorts. I saw the scalper bunch attacking the wrestling figures and running all over the place... I skipped Burbank TRU just because it's been dead the last few weekends, and I knew there'd definitely be a crowd there... Los Feliz definitely seems to get more in, or at least keep it around until the weekend.

Burbank TRU has lots of the new Ultra Titaniums out- Jedi Starfighter (Yellow), Clone Wars Gunship, etc. No figures, no comic packs.

The reason you guys found the Comic Packs at Target is because I used the DPCI last night to get the new ones from the backroom. The Obi/Clone was already missing though. The clerk must have put the leftovers on the pegs- the only ones I left behind were from Wave 1.

Turbo- sorry I missed you this morning. Drop me a PM if you have time this afternoon.

Cool. I did see you. It's nice to put a face to the name. I was the Asian guy with glasses and gotee. I usually don't go to Toys R Us on Saturdays, but I also had to go to Costco, so I figured I'd give it a try.

Welcome to the L.A. group bikerscout. You've come after we re-booted the forum, so some of our dialog might sound strange to you, and there's no old posts to read through. If you need help finding anything, we like to help eachother out- provided that you do the same. Are you going to CIV?

I was going through some figures in storage today (air conditioned interior, away from sunlight) and was horrified to find that my POTF commtech figure bubbles have almost totally turned yellow!! Vader is still good, but the rest are truly sad. They look like someone took a leak on them. They've been kept in pro-tech cases for the last few years, but were all kept indoors/in the dark for years before that. Funny thing is that the older POTF figure bubbles (not in protech cases) still look fine. Does this mean that the commtech wave bubble plastic was some sort of cheap batch?

I did the same thing a l ittle while ago. When I checked, my R2 w/ Holo Leia & my Stormtrooper had yellowed, but the rest were fine. Frustrating isn't it?

the leader class Optimus Prime is going to be awesome and have metal parts similar to the old school TF toys. They're also releasing a more complex Bumblebee that will be a little larger than the deluxe models out now. The deluxe class out now is pretty weak I agree.

Got to Burbank Target around 8:10, recognized Commtech's car leaving so I figured I missed something if he was leaving so 'late'. I was right! They'd put out at least 3 cases of Wave 2, naturally all the Bobas--and ONLY the Bobas--were gone unless both Biggs, both Hans, both DSTs, and one RHG and Luke were bought from a 4th case. My guess is the 7th RHG & Luke figures were returns or leftovers. In a sad attempt to save any latecomers the effort of searching through the pegs, I organized 'em by character, 6 to each peg (except RHG & Luke), and split the handful of TSCs among 2 pegs which weren't close to full. Still plenty of room for another case or two to make it out.

Commtech
05-14-2007, 12:40 PM
Yep, Toon is right. There were a total of 6 Bobas, from which I got 4. Mike, the other guy who looks like headhphones, took one and the other one someone else must have gotten it. I'm keeping 2 and the other 2 are going to 2 members here who I know need them and have already pm'd. After missing Boba TWICE from the HasbroToyShop, this is a good way to make up for it!!

But, I also left target 'late' 'cause I had to buy some groceries for the wife.:)

I went to K-mart afterwards, there was nothing star wars related. They did have the Optimus Prime movie helmet, TF movie plush toys and other TF movie merchandise which was being removed from the pegs because some stupid employee put it out sooner than it should be. The release date of the toys is not until June 2nd as the lady employee removing them told me.

TRU Burbank, had nothing new. Ultra titaniums are still there, a bunch of Banthas, x-wings, at-ats, etc.

Hey guys,

I have a Gentle Giant General Grievous bust for sale - $55 - if anyone needs it. Still mint in package, never displayed. I somehow ended up with an extra one.

PM me if anyone would like it - it is one of the coolest busts Gentle Giant ever did.

As far as finds go, nothing new for me. Haven't hit any stores since mid-last week. Supposedly my set of VTAC and TAC Wave 3 are shipping out from D & S this week - got my fingers crossed.
