Trailer for Slow Burn (http://lionsgate.com/slowburn/)

It seems like a murder / rape story embroiled in District Attorney political intrigue. Sure it's been done before.

An interesting twist is that Jolene Blalock is playing a character of indeterminent race.

I never thought she was black before, or even pictured her being part black. She does have an exotic look that is hard to place though.

In this movie, characters speculate whether she's a black girl pretending to be white, or a white girl pretending to be black. In today's era of very mixed races, it might be relevant in some crime investigation for the purpose of identifying a suspect, victim, or witness.

I thought you said this had something to do with Star Trek fans. :p

This looks awful, and hanging the film on Blalock is a perfect way to fail since she's a horrible actress (and not believable as a white girl passing for black, or vice versa). Apparently, this movie was made back in '03 but the studio, Lions Gate, felt the film wasn't good enough so apparently it was only seen overseas (where it got poor ratings and claims that it's a ripoff of The Usual Suspects) and has been sitting on shelves for years waiting for a recut, it's apparently had 2 previous stalled release attempts in the US. I'm just surprised it didn't go straight to video.

I was going to point out that Blalock's career has stalled out since Enterprise, but since she's got the looks and acting talent of a San Fernando Valley stripper/porn actress, it's not like she SHOULD be in more movies and tv.

I saw a commercial for this thing. Toobad I didn't really throw up that might have been amusing. This looks like mega crap. Get a mental picture of a guy taking a dump through a civic si sunroof there ya go. Hollywood makes unbelievable unremarkable *bleep*.

Oh I agree with you James. Hopefully the novel I'm writing will be adapted for film (or even more hopefully - literally translated) and I'll give Hollywood a new idea or two.

"Hollywood"? Who is "Hollywood"? When you blame "Hollywood" for making bad movies, who do you give credit to for the ones you enjoy?

Dude, Dollywood, duh. :p

Regarding the topic, I'm surprised Jolene was in a movie that wasn't made for the sci-fi channel. I tried watching Enterprise again a few weeks back and I just can't get over how absolutely unconvincing she was at anything.

It's simple, she sucks as a vulcan now they are selling her as a slutty city government official. She'll fail at that too. lol To answer the other guy's inquiry the good movies are few and far between but the people who stick to traditional material not this trash.
