View Full Version : QUESTIONS FOR HASBRO - round 27

Please post your VOTE for up to 6 {six} of the questions provided in this thread, letting us know which ones you most want to see asked on Friday, April 20th. Keep in mind that your votes in round 26 do not count in this round, so if your question is still on the list, you may want to vote for it again.

Also, feel free to post new questions. For reference, here are Hasbro's answers from previous SSG questions (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/index.php?categoryid=13&p2_articleid=76); and from other sites (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/index.php?categoryid=13&p2_articleid=510). And here are the questions we asked last round:
Will the moisture vaporator be available only with this upcoming Luke figure so those who want multiples of this accessory will need to buy multiple Lukes, or will there be other ways to get it in the foreseeable future? (One possibility is to reuse the accessory with Ep 2 Owen Lars, Beru Whitesun, and Cliegg Lars figures.)
There has been some confusion about the upcoming Vintage-style Han Solo in Hoth gear figure, specifically his headgear. Pictures from Toy Fair show a version with a removable hat/goggles combination, but will the figure also be able to wear the hood-up look that covered the hat in the movie, and if so, how will this be achieved? If not, why is the movie-accurate hood-up look not being utilized here? What was it about Vintage-style Han Hoth's hood-up accessory which made Lucasfilm pull approval of that item?
In the Toys R Us-exclusive Bantha with Tusken Raiders boxed set, the Bantha's pelt appears inaccurate with curly fur and the eyeholes not cut or attached correctly, compared to the movie character and the original POTF2 Bantha that this is based upon. What is the reason for the unattractive visible eyeholes and bizarre curly fur? Also, if boxed Star Wars items sell better the closer they are to $20, why turn the Bantha into a larger $45 set?
Recently, several unique figures and accessories have been released in boxed sets (multi-packs, vehicles) - for example: Zev Senesca, removable-helmet Snowtrooper, white AT-RT Driver, the Geonosian energy binders, etc.. As many collectors who have been with the line for 12 years haven't wanted to purchase (for example) yet another Snowspeeder they already had just to get a new figure, have you given any thought to releasing these figures separately, either carded or as hasbrotoyshop.com exclusives?
In the vintage line, Kenner included a cloak with Bib Fortuna that was made out of a wonderful material that lay down closely to the body of the figure. The modern cloaks leave a lot to be desired, as it appears a number of materials have been tried but all coming up lacking in one way or another. Why not use the material that was in the Bib cloak?
Now that we've seen photos of the new Jedi Luke figure with cloth vest, what can you tell us about him? Is it an all new sculpt? Is his Death Star 2 costume on underneath the vest, is the vest and outer belt removable? What accessories will he have? What are the chances of seeing him repacked without the vest?Current questions (vote for up to 6):

- Having met some of you at SD Comic-Con, where I've been able to talk to you and learn all sorts of things about the struggle involved in making these toys, I wonder if maybe you'd consider sharing a lot more of that with collectors in general? If not, why? - asked by Plasticfetish
- Back when you were posting updates about the Fan's Choice figure development on your site, it did a lot to generate interest. Any chance that you'd go back to doing something like that? If not, why?
- I've seen the Kenner and Galoob logos on a few things lately. Is that just a "special" thing, or are we looking to see a relaunch of some old brands?
- Are more properties aside from Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Marvel, and Transformers planned for the Titanium Series lines?
- Canadaian collectors miss out on a many of the US-only store exclusives. Any chance Canadians could have every exclusive figure/vehicle/combination made available on shop.starwars.com after their shelf runs in the US stores?
- Is there any possibility of seeing a 7" Unleashed Clone Wars Animated wave?
- What is the status of the Holiday line? Any thoughts to a release of a Padme & Anakin with baby Luke manger type of scene?
- With talk about the Expanded Universe figures returning in 2007, are the EU figures going to be short-packed like TSC's Scorch or will there be enough for everyone?
- If Hasbro feels that mid-sized vehicles is the way to go, then will we be seeing more airspeeders and landspeeders in the forseeable future? Some of the airspeeders are pretty much snubfighter sized.
- Eventually will all the Episode III Clone Commanders be released as an entire set?
- With the release of the George Lucas in Stormtrooper Disguise and the Lucas Family Collection, can we expect to see a George Lucas the Director action figure in his trademarked flannel shirt and perhaps variations of old and young Lucas?
- Are there going to be any more silver 'raw metal' Titanium 3" ships like the silver Slave I, 5-pack Millennium Falcon, 5-pack Death Star, etc.?
- Since we've seen Star Wars crossovers with Transformers done in the Star Wars Transformers line, the Attacktix line, a Galactic-Heroes-styled line, and even some might argue the Titanium Series line; and Marvel Superheroes now have Titanium and Galactic Hero-styled entries, will we get other kinds of crossover entries, perhaps GI Joe Galactic Heroes? Star Wars, Transformers, and GI Joe all had their first comic ties to Marvel, so it'd be... uh... "perfect"!
- Though you said you wouldn't be releasing any new Separatist Leaders or Neimoidians in 2007 does this include repaints and retools of existing ones?
- What does Hasbro think about using the New Jedi Order (Yuuzhan Vong) series of novels for source material for the Expanded Universe collection?
- Since the Saesee Tiin's Jedi Starfighter is an orange version of the AOTC ship, does this lower the chances of getting the green & gray (with yellow droid) ROTS version of his ship as seen in the Clone Wars cartoon episode 23, or is it possible that we will still see one in the future?
- Since the AAT has been rereleased with the mid-sized vehicles, will the similarly-sized TX-130 Saber-class tank - seen in the Star Wars: Clone Wars and Battlefront videogames - ever be made? The vehicle was even used for both Republic and Imperial troops in Battlefront II.
- Any chance of ever seeing the Ultra Battle Droid made that appears in the Clone Wars Adventures Volume 1 comic story Heavy Metal Jedi?
- Understanding you don't want to divulge specific figures, can you tell us how many (if any) figures in the 30th Anniv. line will have running-change variant figures, a la The Saga Collection Endor Rebel Soldiers?
- The images released of the 30th Anniv. wave 2 carded and loose Death Star Trooper show him coming with the standard E-11 Stormtrooper blaster, however in A New Hope these troopers are shown sporting the DH-17, the blaster most often used by the Rebels (this blaster is even represented in this same wave with the Rebel Honor Guard and Biggs figures). Why did the Death Star Trooper figure ship with the incorrect E-11 stormtrooper blaster?
- Any chance that Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast will get together and pack in WOTC's Star Wars minatures with Hasbro basic figures?
- Any chance that we could get a new Rancor, perhaps packed with a Dathomir Witch or Sith Witch instead of Luke?
- In recent years, many Darth Vader figures have included a silver piece of material around the neck to represent the chain that holds Vader's cape on. However, every time this feature has been included, the "chain" ends up looking too big and out-of-place, while Vader figures that do not include this chain end up looking much better. In the interest of accuracy, could the chain either be scaled down (to better match its look in Episodes III, V, and VI), or done as sculpted plastic (as on earlier incarnations), or simply left off (as in Episode IV) on future Darth Vader figures?
- What are the chances of getting the Scorpenek Annihilator Droid from the New Essential Guide to Droids?
- With the excitement generated by Sideshow's 12" figure line, does Hasbro have any regrets about cancelling their 12" line, especially since it's clear that there is a strong market for high-quality 12" Star Wars figures? Did Hasbro recognize a deficiency in their 12" Star Wars product which didn't meet consumer's expectations of quality leading to a lack of success, and was that a chief factor behind the decision to end it? Is there anything that in hindsight Hasbro would have done differently with the 12" line to keep it in-house?
- With 2007 being focused on the 30th Anniversary Collection, what plans if any are being made for 2008?
- In the Betrayal on Felucia Battlepack, why wasn't the corrected or more movie accurate variation of Commander Bly with brown accents used?
- Will you ever be rereleasing the Geonosian Starfighter, perhaps as a repaint? The ship had only a small release in a non-movie line and could use a rerelease. If so, is there anything you can do to strengthen the droopy dual-nose issue? This is a great mold with a very nifty exclusive pilot figure, but that droopy nose thing detracts from this cool set.
- In the Ambush on Ilum Battlepack, the C-3PO figure is gold, but during this sequence in the Clone Wars cartoon he was the same gray colors he was in Attack of the Clones. Why was the figure chosen to be in the inaccurate gold? The vac-metallized gold costs more to make even so this seems to run counter to a main goal of the battle pack line. Will we see a running change in the correct colors, or will it stay wrong? If this is just another example of "it's what we had on hand", could you walk us through the decision-making process that ok's something inaccurate like this?
- Some collectors missed out on the Vintage-style figures and now must look to ebay and other wretched hives of scum and villainy for these fine figures. What is the likelihood of seeing any or all of those Vintage-style figures rereleased and getting more of collectors' money directly? (They'd prefer to give it to you rather than overpriced after-market guys.)
- Will we be getting a Geonosis Battle Droid and/or Commander in the Saga Legends line like the regular colored Commander?
- Why do hologram figures come with weapons when they're almost never shown using weapons in the holograms in the movies?
- Concerning Titanium Series 3" repaints, will the Titanium AT-RT get another release with a repainted green & brown driver the way the repainted Clone Swamp Speeder did with its pilots? And will we be seeing the Titanium AOTC Jedi Starfighter repainted in all the color schemes the figure scale one has come in (Clone Wars teal, Saesee Tiin's, Kit Fisto's), the way it is currently slated for a Plo Koon repaint?
- What are the chances of seeing mult-packs for the Titanium Series 3" vehicle line where the package can double as a play environment similar to the recent Galactic Heroes line's 3 battle packs? Concepts like multipacks of the Trench run, Battle above Endor, Battle above Coruscant, etc., with play environment packaging and the appropriate repacked vehicles.
- The movie scene photo on the back of The Saga Collection #50 Naboo Soldier's card shows characters in red versions of the same uniform, was this considered for a variation during production, or perhaps will we be seeing it in an upcoming year?
- The Snowspeeder has only been an exclusive item in the past two releases for it where prior releases were regular mass-retail. Why the exclusivity and accompanying higher pricepoint on this vehicle? If it's due to its somewhat large size compared to other vehicles, could it be scaled down to accurate proportions (since it is actually a little too large as-is) and released in the $20 line?
- Many fans feel that the Super Articulated Clone Trooper mold from the ROTS line is the best version of this figure, however there are several problems with the sculpt that continue to show up including: upside-down belt packs, one elbowpad strap smaller than the other, different-heights on the knee joints and a 1mm variance from the left to right upper leg leading to leaning figures, and an asymmetrical "cheek" sculpt on the helmet. Will these issues ever be addressed on future figures?
- Will Hasbro be re-releasing the straight sections of the cantina bar in the near future to coincide with the release of the curved end pieces coming out? If so, please consider re-releasing the blue Snaggletooth from the K-Mart exclusive as well.
- Since Boba Fett from the Holiday Special has now been revealed, and POTJ Zutton is actually taken from the Holiday Special as well, is there a possibility for other figures from the show, most notably the cantina scene?
- Why didn't the Kashyyyk Elite Corps Clone Trooper from The Saga Collection come with the long blaster rifle the figure is shown holding on the figure photo on the back of the card? That is the weapon a number of these troopers sported in the movie, yet the figure only comes with the Biker Scout pistol and the Clone Trooper blaster pistol.
- Why have there been so few Ep 2 & 3 Anakin figures with accurate likenesses of Hayden Christensen?
- The Titanium Series line has shared its space with Battlestar Galactica license for some time now with much success. Can you give us a hint as to your plans for the future of this license? Also, what happened to the plans for the Titanium Forged Figure of the Cylon Centurion?
- With the Titanium Series 3" Star Wars vehicle line, there's been a growing problem on the pegs consistently reported from all across the nation. At each of the 3 major retailers (TRU, Target, Wal-mart), the Titanium 3" Transformers figures - even though they ship in separate cases under unique assortment numbers meant for separate spots in stores planograms - often end up getting placed on the Star Wars Titaniums' pegs by employees because the packaging is the same unique shape and both lines sport the "Titanium Series" badge at the top. That ends up mixing 2 dissimilar lines together, burying and even choking off pegspace for the Star Wars Titaniums while slowing sales for the Transformers Titaniums. Your current solutions mentioned above (asst #s, planograms) don't seem to be enough at the retail level to ensure a separation of product which often means no pegspace for Star Wars Titaniums so they don't get put on shelves as often - can you do something else to ensure that Star Wars Titaniums aren't overwhelmed at the pegs by Transformers Titaniums?
- Are there folks today at Hasbro who were working on the Star Wars line back when it was reborn in 1995? Was there any clue behind-the-scenes back then that the Star Wars toy line would garner such a huge adult collector following? Were adult collectors considered at all on any level back then when forging the line's beginnings? What do you folks think of the extensive adult collector enthusiasm for the line today, 12 years later?
- Recently, you were quoted about a Battle Pack with 2 figures and 2 speederbikes as saying it "is not part of the same Battle Pack line that is at all retailers. We are open to thinking of figure/vehicle packs like this for ideas further down the road. Stay tuned…" and we've since also seen the Bantha/Tusken Raiders Battle Pack that fits within the concept. With Toy Fair now behind us, what are some plans for these future non-traditional Battle Packs?
- In the rumored upcoming TRU exclusive Geonosis beasts pack which supposedly includes the Acklay, Reek and Nexu, would the Nexu and Reek retain their electronic sounds or would those features be absent? Also, would the Acklay's weak legs problem be fixed so that it can stand on its own, along with the irregular jointing of the hips where some move vertically and others move horizontally (adding ratcheting swivels to the legs just below the universal-joints would probably solve this)? And will there figures included in this set as well as creatures, and if so which ones?
- Similar to the Toys R Us exclusive AT-ST that came with a speeder bike, have you ever thought about doing a vehicle multipack? Getting two or three vehicles in one package would be awesome. How about a pair of X-wings?
- Why is it that Hasbro produces some vehicles that are incredibly difficult, even impossible, to fit regular figures inside such as the Ep 1 Flash Speeder, or Ep 2 Zam's & Anakin's Speeder?
- Might we ever get the Mustafar hovering lava harvesting platform for the Mustafar Lava Miner, Obi-Wan, and Anakin as Vader to ride on, perhaps also coming with the lava panning droid for Vader to ride on top of? Granted, the hovering platforms were done in the Mustafar playset, but those seemed too small and lacking in accurate detailing.
- Will the troop-builder clones from the Order 66 2-packs, Treachery on Saleucami Battle Pack, Betrayal on Felucia Battle Pack, and Mace Windu's Attack Battalion Battle Pack ever be released as basic figures?
- Will Anakin's Jedi Starfighter and the regular Jedi Starfighter from the Clone Wars line ever be re-released? How about the ROTS green Anakin and blue Obi-Wan Jedi Starfighters?
- Twice during the prequels, a vehicle toy's MSRP was dropped significantly without any changes to its mold - the first being the Episode I Naboo Royal Starship which went from $100 to $50, and the second being the Republic Gunship which in the Saga line was $40 but subsequent releases were $30. What were the causes of these price drops? Why hasn't this happened with other vehicles in similar high pricepoints?
- Why are basic carded figures so much more expensive in relation to battle packs that have 5 figures in them? A battle pack which MSRPs for $19.99 and has 5 figures, or 4 plus a larger accessory of some kind, costs less than 3 carded figures (who MSRP at $6.99 a piece). Any chance that the MSRP might be dropping on the single basic carded figures in the near future?
- For Star Wars' 30th anniversary this year, the US Postal Service painted hundreds of mailboxes to look like R2-D2. Might Hasbro create a figure of R2-D2 as a mailbox to commemorate this quirky postal tribute, perhaps a 2-pack with Major Derlin as a mailman (since Derlin was played by John Ratzenberger who for 11 years portrayed know-it-all mailman Cliff Clavin on the sitcom Cheers)?
- A number of questions about the possibility of seeing specific figures vehicles realized as toys have met with answers about their chances largely hinging on whether or not they appear in the upcoming Star Wars tv shows. Hypothetically, if Lucas changed his mind tomorrow and decided the Clone Wars and live action Star Wars shows were just not going to happen at all, what would happen with those potential toy concepts, and how would Hasbro's general outlook on the future of the Star Wars line change?
- As this is the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars' release and your line this year is called the "30th Anniversary Collection", now seems the best time to ask this one: what are the chances that we'll be getting a figure of the very first person ever seen in all of Star Wars, the white-haired Rebel Fleet Trooper who shows worry and then steadies to hold off the Stormtroopers for control of the Tantive IV? This would also be a great chance to do a new, better-articulated Rebel Fleet Trooper body.
- In a recent question about the new Vintage-style clamshells, you were quoted as answering "The clamshells will be sealed, like the majority of last year's run." However, the heat-sealed Vintage-style Saga Collection clamshells were generally rendered unusably damaged once the seals were opened, thus defeating the main purpose of the supposedly-reusable clamshell packaging that is part of the significantly-increased Vintage-style pricepoint. So will that issue be taken into account, or are collectors going to have to damage the clamshells to access the contents within?
- The preview pictures and images from Toy Fair of the Vintage-style Snowtrooper show a cloth "skirt" on the figure that is shaped significantly differently from the movie version. This looks like a great figure, but we don't want an awesome sculpt to be held back by lesser "soft goods". Will you be fixing/altering the cloth skirt so that the VTAC Snowtrooper hits shelves as accurate as can be? If not, why not?
- Now that you've redone many of the ESB Bounty Hunters, such as the upcoming IG-88, Bossk, and rumored 4-LOM, when will we be getting an all new Zuckuss?
- With there being so much competition in regards to high end collecting with other licensees, has Hasbro considered perhaps making the figures' accessories out of metal like the already established saber hilts from the 2002 Saga line? (This was even recently used again with the reissued Sith Training Darth Maul from the end of the TSC line.) They could also do it this time with blasters and other non-lightsaber accessories as well.
- Will we be getting a new Hoth Rebel Trooper in the foreseeable future? We've got a new, high-quality Snowtrooper coming finally but the Rebel side of the battle hasn't been well-represented in quite a while. The last version was in the 2004 Saga line and was very short (shorter than the protocol droid R-3PO from the same wave even), had little usable articulation, was overly preposed, and had an odd face. It seems like most of the other OT troopers have gotten decent figures in the past few years except the Hoth Rebel Trooper, the Hoth battle scenes are very 1-sided over this, when will it be his time?
- What will the pricepoint be on the recently revealed Galactic Heroes single packs?
- Fans are enjoying the characters' artistic renderings featured on the TAC card fronts, is there any chance we'll be seeing something like a poster containing all this art, perhaps as a giveaway through conventions or the official Star Wars site or Hasbro.com? It would make a great display piece.
- Hasbro still seems to be focusing a lot on Revenge of the Sith. If the Target-exclusive Order 66 packs do well, would Hasbro consider making similar packs based on Attack of the Clones? For example, a clone trooper in each pack with either a Jedi or a Separatist force?
- With the announcements of the McQuarrie concept R2-D2, C-3PO, and Luke Skywalker figures as exclusives for the 2 upcoming Star Wars Celebration conventions, there has been some confusion as to the exclusivity of the actual figures. The language in the announcements is a little ambiguous on the matter and has opened the possibility to the packaging and coins being the exclusive elements rather than the figures. Will any/all of these McQuarrie concept figures be offered through other venues besides Celebration IV and European Celebration, and if so, in what manners?
- The new Clone Trooper and Rebel Trooper role-play blasters are pretty cool and seem to be selling fairly well out of the gate. With that in mind, will Hasbro be offering more role-play weapons such as all-new sculpts of Han's blaster, the Stormtrooper blaster (with more accurate size and folded stock under the barrel), Biker Scout pistol, and perhaps even larger ones like the Hoth Rebel rifle and Clone Trooper long rifle?Vote now, and feel free to add new questions too. Thanks for participating!

#16 can be changed from "upcoming" to "current" or something.

#29 should likely be changed to a past-tense question only since this pack is pretty much on the way out of stores.

#39, about the cantina scene, was more or less answered the most recent time when they said the Animated Debut Boba Fett would likely be the last Holiday Special figure they make.

4 - Are more properties aside from Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Marvel, and Transformers planned for the Titanium Series lines?

12 - Are there going to be any more silver 'raw metal' Titanium 3" ships like the silver Slave I, 5-pack Millennium Falcon, 5-pack Death Star, etc.?

17 - Since the AAT has been rereleased with the mid-sized vehicles, will the similarly-sized TX-130 Saber-class tank - seen in the Star Wars: Clone Wars and Battlefront videogames - ever be made? The vehicle was even used for both Republic and Imperial troops in Battlefront II.

33 - Concerning Titanium Series 3" repaints, will the Titanium AT-RT get another release with a repainted green & brown driver the way the repainted Clone Swamp Speeder did with its pilots? And will we be seeing the Titanium AOTC Jedi Starfighter repainted in all the color schemes the figure scale one has come in (Clone Wars teal, Saesee Tiin's, Kit Fisto's), the way it is currently slated for a Plo Koon repaint?

34 - What are the chances of seeing mult-packs for the Titanium Series 3" vehicle line where the package can double as a play environment similar to the recent Galactic Heroes line's 3 battle packs? I just noticed the removal of the figures-rereleased-on-vintage-card question, shame they didn't actually answer to the idea and just did their usual long-winded explanation that doesn't really help much.

I vote for:
22, 28, 34, 49, 51, and 57.

51- Will Anakin's Jedi Starfighter and the regular Jedi Starfighter from the Clone Wars line ever be re-released?

---Can we have this altered to say we want a reissue of the green ROTS fighter from Mustafar? If we pose it as is, they will say "we are releasing the yellow Anakin starfighter for the 300th time this year."

Question 51 altered. Question 39 stricken. Due to the following answer from March 30th:

JediInsider.com: With the release of the Boba Fett figure from the Holiday Special, will we see more figures based from that Special?
Hasbro: That is the only one we are planning and will probably ever do.

#16 can be changed from "upcoming" to "current" or something.D'oh! Nice catch, fixed.

#29 should likely be changed to a past-tense question only since this pack is pretty much on the way out of stores.Good point, I'll leave that part in the question for now just in the offest of off chances that they do reissue it, but likely cut that by the next round (please remind me if I don't).

#39, about the cantina scene, was more or less answered the most recent time when they said the Animated Debut Boba Fett would likely be the last Holiday Special figure they make.NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! I can't believe I missed that, i go through all the answers from other sites SPECIFICALLY for this reason. Thanks for the catch, luckily nobody voted for it yet.

I just noticed the removal of the figures-rereleased-on-vintage-card question, shame they didn't actually answer to the idea and just did their usual long-winded explanation that doesn't really help much.Yeah, I covered this in the last round:
540794. I thought they were giving 2 reasons why it wasn't going to happen, if you take it that way then they are answering the question.

51- Will Anakin's Jedi Starfighter and the regular Jedi Starfighter from the Clone Wars line ever be re-released?

---Can we have this altered to say we want a reissue of the green ROTS fighter from Mustafar? If we pose it as is, they will say "we are releasing the yellow Anakin starfighter for the 300th time this year."I changed the question, but I can already tell you their answer will probably be no to the green ROTS JSF because it was an exclusive.

and my question?

Really enjoying the artist's renderings of the characters being featured on the card fronts for the new collection. Any chance of a poster containing all those card fronts maybe as a giveaway at conventions or through starwars.com or your website? It would make a great art piece for display.

Hasbro still seems to be putting alot of focus on Revenge of the Sith. I wonder if the Order 66 packs do well, would they (Hasbro) consider making more based on Attack of the clones. For example a clone trooper in each pack with either a Jedi, or a battle droid.

There was talk about Hasbro doing more evolutions sets. Is this going forward, and if so can we get some teaser as to who the sets will be based on? Please Hasbro, Obi-Wan evolution sets, (Episodes I,II, & IV) don't make me beg!!!

One vote for Question 56 - As this is the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars' release and your line this year is called the "30th Anniversary Collection", now seems the best time to ask this one: what are the chances that we'll be getting a figure of the very first person ever seen in all of Star Wars, the white-haired Rebel Fleet Trooper who shows worry and then steadies to hold off the Stormtroopers for control of the Tantive IV? This would also be a great chance to do a new, better-articulated Rebel Fleet Trooper body.

Also, as suggested by someone in another thread, how about a question like this:

Will the McQuarrie R2 and 3P0 FIGURES be exclusive to the conventions or just the packaging? For instance, the 1997 Special Edition Jedi Luke handed out at theaters was an exclusive, but the Jedi Luke figure was certainly not an exclusive. In other words, will the figures be available through other avenues this year?

JediTricks, feel free to change the wording however you want. I assume you get my meaning. I'll also vote for this question.

Hi Guys,

I have a question for Hasbro.

Will the Vintage Snowtrooper's waste cape or what ever it is be corrected or are the pictures we have seen so far the final version?

I also would like to add and vote for a question based on the Celebration Luke similar to the one I proposed about the McQuarrie 3P0 and R2. In the alternative, I would like Luke included in the R2/3P0 question.

Question to add:

The new Rebel and Clone blasters are very awesome and seem to be selling well already, will Hasbro be putting more 1:1 scale weapons out such as Han's blaster, the Imperial E-11, the Biker Scout's pistol and larger ones like the Endor/Hoth Rebel rifle?

Will the McQuarrie R2 and 3P0 FIGURES be exclusive to the conventions or just the packaging? For instance, the 1997 Special Edition Jedi Luke handed out at theaters was an exclusive, but the Jedi Luke figure was certainly not an exclusive. In other words, will the figures be available through other avenues this year?

If it gets approved, I vote for this one. I want the concept Threepio and Artoo, but the only thing I want LESS than having to travel to C4 to get them is having to pay $150 for them on ebay.

If Hasbro had taken the time to vac-metalize both of these figures, it might be worth the effort; but not with this cheapo looking "metal-colored" plastic.

18. - Any chance of ever seeing the Ultra Battle Droid made that appears in the Clone Wars Adventures Volume 1 comic story Heavy Metal Jedi?

24. - What are the chances of getting the Scorpenek Annihilator Droid from the New Essential Guide to Droids?

31. - Will the Battle Droid Commander in the Saga Legends line have a backpack or just the antennas? And will we be getting a Geonosis Battle Droid Commander in the Saga Legends line like the regular colored Commander?

Bacta Beast, you have 5 votes left.

Droid, you have 4 votes left.

Welp, the DS Trooper is out and comes with the E-11 so #20 can either be removed or just modified to ask why he didn't come with the DH-17?Good point, thanks, I've modified the question. I'm considering consolidating it with another wrong accessory question in the next round.

There was talk about Hasbro doing more evolutions sets. Is this going forward, and if so can we get some teaser as to who the sets will be based on? Please Hasbro, Obi-Wan evolution sets, (Episodes I,II, & IV) don't make me beg!!!Those were just wishful thinking rumors, Hasbro has said over and over that there wouldn't be any more Evo sets, that they'd prefer to put that quality into the basic line when there's no movie to support it.

All my votes go question 15! I want NJO figures (especially Jedi Knight Jacen and Jaina Solo)I'm afraid it doesn't work that way, you can only vote for a question once per round. You have 5 votes left.

Hi Guys,

I have a question for Hasbro.

Will the Vintage Snowtrooper's waste cape or what ever it is be corrected or are the pictures we have seen so far the final version? There is a similar question already in the list, #58. I'll count your post as a vote for it.

I also would like to add and vote for a question based on the Celebration Luke similar to the one I proposed about the McQuarrie 3P0 and R2. In the alternative, I would like Luke included in the R2/3P0 question.I had already added Luke into the question, and counted your vote for it.

Given the time frame, I move to ask Droid's question about C-3PO, R2-D2, and Luke regardless of the number of votes.I'm a little apprehensive to put that much weight on it since I believe the announcements make it clear these are exclusive figures, not just packages, but I'll take it under advisement.

Question to add:

The new Rebel and Clone blasters are very awesome and seem to be selling well already, will Hasbro be putting more 1:1 scale weapons out such as Han's blaster, the Imperial E-11, the Biker Scout's pistol and larger ones like the Endor/Hoth Rebel rifle?Hmm, I'll have to word that pretty carefully or they'll just think we're trying to recycle the old versions.

Given the time frame, I move to ask Droid's question about C-3PO, R2-D2, and Luke regardless of the number of votes.Should I count that as a vote for the question while I decide on the matter? I have not as of yet counted it as a vote.

If it gets approved, I vote for this one. I want the concept Threepio and Artoo, but the only thing I want LESS than having to travel to C4 to get them is having to pay $150 for them on ebay. Ok, I counted your vote for it.

If Hasbro had taken the time to vac-metalize both of these figures, it might be worth the effort; but not with this cheapo looking "metal-colored" plastic.I personally disagree here, I think the paint captures the art far better than some cheap, chipping chrome would.

Questions 58, 62, and 65 have been stricken.

Due to some Hasbro answers this week, those questions have been removed, though I can see some room to put some of the questions back if there are good enough arguments.

JediDefender.com: Also from the recent news pile, pictures popped up this week of single carded Galactic Heroes figures. How and when will these be available? Summer conventions? Are they exclusives?
Hasbro: These will be available through some of our non-mass-based retailers - Family Dollar and Big Lots. These figures will be 100% repack figures from prior 2-packs (no new deco), but figures who are not in the current Galactic Heroes lineup.

JediTempleArchives.com: Will the Celebration IV exclusive 2-pack be available only at Celebration IV, or will it be available online like the SDCC Stormtrooper was? How about the European version?
Hasbro: There are no plans to make the droids available other than at Celebration IV, right now at least (the same goes for the Europe version). Gencon (the group organizing Celebration), not Hasbro, is the actual retailer for this product, so Gencon is setting the strategy for its own exclusive. However, the McQuarrie Luke is a HasbroToyShop.com exclusive, so we have more control over that. If we do make it available online through HasbroToyShop.com, it won't be for some months after the Convention unless there is leftover Convention inventory.

Rebelscum.com: Will the McQuarrie droid exclusives be available on Hasbro.com or Star Wars Shop or eventually in retail but in non-exclusive packaging? Please say yes and say it won't be too long after the end of May 2007!

SWcollector.com: Since it was confirmed in the last Q&A that the VTAC Snowtrooper does indeed have a removable helmet, do you have any "unmasked" pictures that you could send us?
Hasbro: See attached image. (http://www.swcollector.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=4943#4943) Also, please note that the front of the kama has been shortened since the time it was presented at Toy Fair, and in fact it's a little crooked in this sample. That will be corrected in final production, but this length is correct for the front.

New question:

Okay, let's be blunt. Why is it that pretty much anything we ask for either goes on the back burner, or is deemed infeasible, and we get rainbow Clonetroopers and armies of poorly-made Tatooine Lukes instead? Why does Bossk need an umpteenth resculpt before we get Cliegg Lars or even Jabba the Hutt? What is so damned hard about giving us a frigging Cloud Car? Why do you make us buy two POS Droidekas (which no one bought the first two times) to get one shield, which will invariably have a huge line where the pieces snap together, instead of just making one simple Droideka that can fold up?

When you do make something cool, why does it have to be an impossible-to-get overpriced exclusive (McQuarrie CIV figures and pretty much all the BattlePacks), or a pack-in with a $30+ vehicle you've released several times before (Zev Senesca, dragonsnake)?

How do you consider a vote of 8% of readers of the biggest fanboy wank comic magazine out there, with a margin of only 2%, to be a "mandate" that we're interested in seeing Darth Fill-in-the-blank from every video game ever made?

Do you not understand that the whole point of a business is to make people happy, not give them fodder to go on message boards and complain how stupid you are?

Do you know how much we are laughing at you behind your backs? At least when we're not contemplating kicking you?

Do you realize how many hardcore collectors have already stopped collecting, or are on the verge?

And why is it so incredibly hard to answer our damned questions? You give us the forum to ask, so what's with all the Secret Squirrel crap? These are damned toys, not matters of national security.

Serious, JT. If you're willing to put it out there, I'm the first to vote for it.

Serious, JT. If you're willing to put it out there, I'm the first to vote for it.Nice to see you going concise there. :p Ok, seriously, first off, let me apologize for not getting to this sooner, I've been having problems with my new desk chair that cause aches which drive me away from the computer.

Now, here's my problems with your question (and this is purely about the details because I have no problem giving them both barrels on these sorts of things):
- "and we get rainbow Clonetroopers and armies of poorly-made Tatooine Lukes instead?" Hasbro would say that a rainbow of Clones is because both collectors and kids alike buy them, they like them, there's a desire for them still. And as for Luke, they've been not doing much with Luke for years, the only reason they are now is because of the 30th Anniversary and Luke is the main character - main characters sell with kids, kids are who buy the line.

- "Why does Bossk need an umpteenth resculpt before we get Cliegg Lars or even Jabba the Hutt?" They'd say Bossk is a 'cool' character while Cliegg is an old nobody who just gripes. And I don't think Hasbro sees why the Saga ultra Jabba is a problem, so that'd probably require a separate question of its own.

- "What is so damned hard about giving us a frigging Cloud Car?" They've answer this, we just don't like the answer. Here's what they've said there "The vintage tool is not available for the Cloud Car, which has left us with the problem of needing to do a new one if we make the decision to re-release. However, we don't feel it is one of the strongest to redo just yet. We will probably get to it someday. With the new vehicles we have on the slate, I think everyone would agree that holding off on a new Cloud Car is a worthwhile tradeoff." and truthfully, I think they're right, new tooling for a vehicle barely in the film that is pretty boring is risky and will impact the other potential vehicles' budgets, if kids don't like it, it'll rot hard. Granted, they've spewed out new molds for less, but they seem to be more concerned about SW ever since it nearly took their entire company down in 2000. The budget angle about the Cloud Car might be another separate question, but you'll have to decide if you want to pursue that.

- "Why do you make us buy two POS Droidekas (which no one bought the first two times) to get one shield" They explained this, the whole shield wouldn't fit on the bubble, I thought it was a reasonable claim. Granted, they're using the lesser of their Droideka options, but they did also point out that they were changing some things to improve it.

- "...which will invariably have a huge line where the pieces snap together" How else could they do it? If it was a solid sphere with a cut open underside, there's no way on earth it'd fit on a basic card, it'd make Ephant Mon look like R2-D2.

- "instead of just making one simple Droideka that can fold up?" They answered this with "We looked at making it transform and collapse, but with the spindly small parts it didn't result in a satisying figure. But we'll continue to explore it."

- "When you do make something cool, why does it have to be an impossible-to-get overpriced exclusive (McQuarrie CIV figures and pretty much all the BattlePacks), or a pack-in with a $30+ vehicle you've released several times before (Zev Senesca, dragonsnake)?" Good question, I could add it separately if you like, but I don't see how I can include it the main question. Might you be willing to explain to me where the connective material would be? Are we asking about a pattern of behavior, and if so, how does this tie to the original part of the question's pattern of behavior?

- "How do you consider a vote of 8% of readers of the biggest fanboy wank comic magazine out there, with a margin of only 2%, to be a "mandate" that we're interested in seeing Darth Fill-in-the-blank from every video game ever made?" I don't understand this 'aspect' to the question, the figure won, it gets made. Or are you complaining that the 8% win led to the EU 2packs?

- "Do you not understand that the whole point of a business is to make people happy, not give them fodder to go on message boards and complain how stupid you are?" They'd say they're doing their best within their business model and blah blah blah "budgets" blah blah blah "the majority are satisfied with the line" blah blah blah "kids vs collectors" blah blah blah "not everything comes out of the factory as good as it should" blah blah blah "thanks for your input, we'll take that into consideration".

- "Do you know how much we are laughing at you behind your backs? At least when we're not contemplating kicking you?" I think they do, they'd say they read the boards and get feedback from these Q&As and they take it into consideration alongside other aspects. Blah blah blah. If this and the one above were vital to the question, I'd have to HEAVILY rework them before I'd ask them.

- "Do you realize how many hardcore collectors have already stopped collecting, or are on the verge?" Which way would this go, the "we don't discuss our numbers" route, or the "sales have been up, kids and collectors alike are buying more, and we try to cater to collectors as much as we can" route? I guess it'd depend on if they were feeling defensive or cocky. If you can show me the connective tissue running throughout your question, I could probably include this part as an upshot to their patterns of behavior, but I'm not sure what it'd accomplish.

- "And why is it so incredibly hard to answer our damned questions? You give us the forum to ask, so what's with all the Secret Squirrel crap? These are damned toys, not matters of national security." They've touched on this with "We prefer to keep things as close to the vest as possible so we have new things to talk about, and not have the line gradually revealed all the way until the end of 2008." We're talking about a business choice here, they are doing what they think is best to protect their bottom line - if they give away everything they've been asked about, what would they show off at SDCC, how would they keep momentum of the line going when collectors are waiting over a year for an item, what would happen to expectations if something was changed or canceled early in development? I know we all want the perfect collecting experience here, but since nobody can even agree on what that means and Hasbro has to protect the future of the line to ensure there is one, I think these Q&As are a happy medium. Would I like them to be more forthright with their answers and accepting of our ideas? Absolutely. But I have to look at the breadth of the answers they have given and say that they haven't done us entirely wrong, especially since it's a hell of a lot more than they were answering this time last year (which was no responses at all since there was no Q&A and no communication at all between the fans and the company).

Anyway, I've rambled on long enough, I just wanted to close by saying that I don't want you to look at my response as shutting you down, far from it, I'd like you to take it as constructive criticism intended to help get your question asked and answered.

66. - The new Clone Trooper and Rebel Trooper role-play blasters are pretty cool and seem to be selling fairly well out of the gate. With that in mind, will Hasbro be offering more role-play weapons such as all-new sculpts of Han's blaster, the Stormtrooper blaster (with more accurate size and folded stock under the barrel), Biker Scout pistol, and perhaps even larger ones like the Hoth Rebel rifle and Clone Trooper long rifle?

Cause I want more Star Wars toys that fire big suctiony darts. :D

I was being a little tongue-in-cheek there, JT. :p

My reference to a "mandate" is that they have used that term a few times, both at Comic-Con and in several of the Q&A's, to describe Revan. However, of the Top 20 runoff, he received only 8% of the vote (not even winning--that was Quinlan), with the next closest being 6%. A win? Yes. A mandate? Hardly. And, IIRC, the runner up was a certain fat lady with three bikini tops.

[9]- If Hasbro feels that mid-sized vehicles is the way to go, then will we be seeing more airspeeders and landspeeders in the forseeable future? Some of the airspeeders are pretty much snubfighter sized.

[40]- Why didn't the Kashyyyk Elite Corps Clone Trooper from The Saga Collection come with the long blaster rifle the figure is shown holding on the figure photo on the back of the card? That is the weapon a number of these troopers sported in the movie, yet the figure only comes with the Biker Scout pistol and the Clone Trooper blaster pistol.

[41]- Why have there been so few Ep 2 & 3 Anakin figures with accurate likenesses of Hayden Christensen?

[44]- Are there folks today at Hasbro who were working on the Star Wars line back when it was reborn in 1995? Was there any clue behind-the-scenes back then that the Star Wars toy line would garner such a huge adult collector following? Were adult collectors considered at all on any level back then when forging the line's beginnings? What do you folks think of the extensive adult collector enthusiasm for the line today, 12 years later?

[45]- Recently, you were quoted about a Battle Pack with 2 figures and 2 speederbikes as saying it "is not part of the same Battle Pack line that is at all retailers.

[61]- Will we be getting a new Hoth Rebel Trooper in the foreseeable future? We've got a new, high-quality Snowtrooper coming finally but the Rebel side of the battle hasn't been well-represented in quite a while. The last version was in the 2004 Saga line and was very short (shorter than the protocol droid R-3PO from the same wave even), had little usable articulation, was overly preposed, and had an odd face. It seems like most of the other OT troopers have gotten decent figures in the past few years except the Hoth Rebel Trooper, the Hoth battle scenes are very 1-sided over this, when will it be his time?

But I see what you mean, and can only conclude that Hasbro's take is that such a nobody fairing so well in the poll is the mandate, not that he placed only 8% but that a nobody like that beating out so many more qualified candidates was the mandate aspect. So, it's a viable question, no doubt, since I was only speculating - LMK how you think it can be put together and I'll certainly add it.
