More fun from Hasbro and this amazing line that they want to hype, but don't want to just give us at retail.

TFW2005.com posted this scan (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=3747) of the new Comic-Con magazine, which lists Hasbro's exclusives.

There's also a "501st Legion: R2-KT." No idea what that is, but I'll wager it's a repainted R2 unit. May be cool, may be stupid.

In other news, Alternator Rodimus [Prime] looks to be an all-new sculpt (or at least a new import from Takara). There's also a Titanium Menasor, which is rumored to be a black repaint of Titanium Rodimus (because a gigantic robot made of a tractor-trailer and four race cars looks so much like a futuristic sportscar/truck  ).

Marvel Legends will have a She-Hulk (repaint?) and Stan Lee. And we already know about the Pimp Daddy Destro(s).

So, with at least four of the exclusives being new sculpts, this is a new approach to exclusives for Hasbro. I guess Nemesis Prime and Stormtrooper with 501st Logo didn't do as well as planned?

Yeah, all these stupid exclusives are driving me batty! According to my pals who sent in the spy report, there's also an exclusive Shadow Biker Scout with bike in the exclusives display for Hasbro: http://www.sirstevesguide.com/index.php?categoryid=37&p2_articleid=861

BTW, Rodimus there is just a repaint of Mirage. And you're right, Titanium Menasor is just 6" Titanium Rodimus Prime in black & purple - lame!

According to Galactichunter's site "R2-KT is a spunky pink Astromech Droid named after Katie Johnson (the daughter of the 501st founder, Albin Johnson)."

Hasbro revealed pics of R2-KT today at CIV, and he looks like an easy pass. I think they've officially saturated the market with useless droid repaints.

And, since the info says that they've already given a donation to the Make a Wish Foundation, the proceeds would be going to charity.

But not quite as saturated as the useless trooper repaints. :p

And you people joked about pink clone troopers, but it is a pink astromech that we get before that.

I like the looks of the R2-KT. I'll definitely be getting this one if I can. The life-sized one (http://photos.sirstevesguide.com/showphoto.php?photo=22583) looks great as well.

I'd like to officially request pretty please with sugar on top that someone who is going to SDCC would be so nice as to pick up an R2-KT for me. If you did, the reward would be . . . well . . . well more than you can imagine. I'll reiterate my request closer to the date, but thanks in advance to whomever helps with my plight.

Sure, the droid may look silly in a military scene, but I could see a being on the street with a pink droid.

By the way, Hasbro:

Storm Commandos (http://www.starwars.com/databank/organization/stormcommandos/index.html).

Just thought you might be interested in knowing that solid black Scout Troopers already existed in EU, and they already had a much cooler name than "Shadow Biker Scout."

I know about these guys. :) Storm Commandos appeared in the game Rebel Strike led by Captain Sarkli (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Sarkli), a Rogue Squadron traitor and nephew of Admiral Piett (who made a brief appearance in Return of the Jedi). In his final battle with Han Solo in Endor's Shield Bunker before it blew Sarkli himself is seen wearing Storm Commando armor. He also nearly killed Wedge Antilles on Geonosis using an abandoned Republic attack gunship left over from the Clone Wars.

Storm Commandos also piloted the rare TIE Hunters (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/TIE_Hunter).

You would think it would be made available online since proceeds are going to Make a Wish. It would be borderline irresponsible for them to limit sales that are going to charity by not making it widely available.

Proceeds aren't going to charity. Hasbro made a donation, then made the figure to inspire "goodwill." They were just a little sneaky in the way they worded it.

The guys on the design team actually all seem like cool fellows. But they're not the ones making the decisions on what gets the final OK, or how and where it will be available.

well who does make decisions on what gets the final?

there's got to be a person who is in charge of this making star wars figures! we have to see what happens. we can get the team to talk to them about making figures and get the team to talk to some who ever is in charge of what to make figures.

There's a head of the team (I forget his name), but even he has to convince the other departments (R&D, Marketing, etc) and the executives and stockholders.

If you're going to SDCC, go to their Q&A and talk to them at the booth. I may be one of the loudest complainers against Hasbro's policies as a company, but these guys do some awesome work, and they seem to enjoy talking to fans.

R2-KT sucks.

I hate when people use something like star wars for cloying sentimental guilt trip reasons. I'm sure there's people out there would have donated without this pink droid. it's just a bit eeeeuuuwwww all round. makes me cringe.

I wouldn't go as far as to say R2-KT sucks. I think as far as generic colored R2 units go it could be used decently enough for dioramas and such. I'll agree with you on the sentimental guilt trip thing. That wasn't really needed to sell this figure. Even so, it is neat to at least know the story behind R2-KT's initial creation. Without it the R2-KT figure is just a generic pink R2-D2 knockoff.

I don't see what's so bad about it. A little girl wants her father to make a pink astromech; it turns out she's going to die before he can get done with it, so another guy donates time, effort and money to finish it before she dies. He finishes it, uses it to promote concern for pediatric cancer. Hasbro hears and makes a figure out of it to promote the same. Hasbro has already honored the 501st with the Stormtrooper and RotS did so with the clone trooper. It's not like they don't have precedent for honoring this group, but we had no problem with those items simply because they were done for no reason? I mean, what's the difference between this and buying an expensive chicken dinner for charity? Rather than condemn Hasbro for what you perceive to be exploitation, email Mr. Johnson and see if he gives your concern an ounce of weight.

The life-sized one (http://photos.sirstevesguide.com/showphoto.php?photo=22583) looks great as well.It really does, I saw a lot of R2s that week and KT was among the best work. Something I noticed when KT was near me, there was markings on the back: http://photos.sirstevesguide.com/showphoto.php?photo=22585&cat=5338
Anyway, when they were showing off the figure version to the crowd, I had Steve ask to shoot the back and sure enough, Hasbro went detailed enough to put those markings on the figure:
http://photos.sirstevesguide.com/showphoto.php?photo=22594&cat=5338
At that scale, they're quite intricate.

Trying to get the Bust Ups was a joke, as was trying to get anything else GG made that wasn't preordered.Even if you preordered from GG, you may not get your wares. I was shocked to learn that, they tapped out of product on Thursday in under 2 hours so anybody who preordered the exclusives had to come back the next day, wait in line and hope they get what they came for - I thought that was kinda lousy.

Speaking of details, what is up with the packaged version of R2-KT compared to the loose version they were showing off at CIV? Why does the packaged version look like it has black letters (WTE) painted on the front of it while on the loose one it didn't?

HFE is "Hasbro Far East" and I am not sure why they wrote it on some of the figures, my best guess is an "ok" to confirm the packaging is final version, or defacing figures so they don't end up on ebay.
