After getting my Darth Revan in yesterday and cracking it open last night, I was stoked since I really looked forward to actually finding this character, even though im not big on the KOTOR game series, but the comic series really captured my attention and love for the "Tales of the Jedi era."
Darth Revan
Points of interest: A removable cloak, a light saber hilt, a light saber, and a coin . . .
Articulation: 11-12 points of articulation, above average for star wars figures but not SA by no means, but that was to be expected. Head, Swivel arms, elbow joints, wrist joints, waste joint, and legs though not in the knees:(
Sculpting: The sculpt and detail in this figure is awesome! In the begining I said I wouldn't buy this figure unless he had soft good treatment, but after seeing the details in pictures and such I had to give it a go, because the amounts of detail they placed in this figure couldn't have been captured by soft goods, though the skirt Revan wears would have been a prime place to use soft goods, since there is little detail there and this would have allowed knee articulation.
Problems: I was hoping for a Removable mask that way we actually get a cannon visage for Revan, though they didn’t go that route, but it was forgivable. I was also expecting a hole for the light saber hilt but no such luck there either, which is also a problem for malack. Though I can say, the figure stands nicely on its own, and looks great next to other EU characters.
Overall: If you’re a KOTOR fan, this I suggest this figure. If you’re a Movie only person, then I gotta say this figure might not be worth your time since it offers nothing revolutionary in star wars figures. If your an EU lover then this figure should give you some fodder for that Exar Kun, and Ulic Qul Droma figures....oh wait they made this guy first! My bad. But seriously Revan is a great figure, even if it didnt and wont live up to alot of the hype that was around it, though i may dare to say he will be a chase figure in wave five, and is already fetching some cash on the secondary market, but thats only important if your a wall-street collector.
6 out of 10 rating overall.

Thanks for the review. All joking about "Darth Cobra Commander" aside, I was wondering about him. I picked up Revan and Malak for a friend, and not for myself. But I was looking at Revan, thinking, "That figure does look pretty good." I was wondering if I'd made a mistake in not getting myself one. You giving him a 6 out of 10 tells me that he's only on the high end of average, and I'm passing on main characters who are only okay, so I feel more justified in passing.
(If I bought every toy that I thought looked cool, I'd have nowhere to put any as I'd have to sell my house.)
It's absolutely not worth it.

But you say that for every SW figure nowadays.
I'll be getting at least two of Revan.
But you say that for every SW figure nowadays.
Not Hermi Odle.

LOL, Darth Cobra Commander! "High end of Average" is exactly what this figure is, though it looks great in the card, but opened he's pretty standard, very much like a POTF2 era figure but with greater arm movement, it's sad because they could have really done a great figure here, hopefully. Darth Nilhous (Spelling) in the Sith evolutions pack in 08 will be a little more on par for modern star wars figures. I expect at least a Soft good robe!! Though Darth Malack while doesn't have the coolness factor of Revan his figure is awesome, second best figure in the wave next to Hermi, which is a great figure!!

I'm not a KOTOR fan, but I'll probably get a Revan so Palpatine or Vader can kill him.

I'm already getting a Revan in the case I ordered. I'm going to get at least one more to make a custom Tusken Raider Chieftan from it. (Mostly the robes)

It's not that I mind EU figures, it's just that there are so many figures yet to be made (well) that I wonder, WHY?

I can't wait til they make the Wo;eityW[POGJwpevj guy from that EU book that will be released in two years. As long as it has 15 points of articulation though. Anything less will be a waste.
Oh, and his ship too. What's the point of having a Wo;eityW[POGJwpevj without that killer ship that has the special EU R:Oighbaqep[oriheboah ;OQBGH 4 guns. Seriously.

It's not that I mind EU figures, it's just that there are so many figures yet to be made (well) that I wonder, WHY?Weird, I get a strong feeling of déjà vu when I read this.
Again... there is a demand for these EU figures based on the overwhelming popularity of their source. (The games sold millions and millions of copies.)
Also, having Hasbro decide to make these figures doesn't directly effect their decisions to make or not make the other figures you listed. Hey, if the demand is there for those, then they'll make them also.
Remember, Hasbro wants your money.

It's just... You'd think they'd notice that some EU characters, like Ulic Qel Droma and Talon Karrde, have been consistently requested for over a decade, and think, "Hmm, maybe we should consider doing these."

which is my major beef with this character being made as well, they should have established a pecking order for EU, make revan and malack fans wait 10 plus years like the rest of us have to get this guy...though it made alot of people happy to see KOTOR figures, so its a double bladed sword for hasbro im sure. though talon karde better be in 08, or im calling BS.

It's just... You'd think they'd notice that some EU characters, like Ulic Qel Droma and Talon Karrde, have been consistently requested for over a decade, and think, "Hmm, maybe we should consider doing these."Do those figures have multimillion dollar video games behind them to prove that there's a legitimate fan base and serious demand for them?
I'm not arguing that there's a point to the whole "what the fans want is what the fans should get" thing, it's just that from a marketing standpoint, it's a little easier to see how something like Malak and Revan would sell vs. some more obscure book/comic book characters.
But again, keep asking, and then present a good reason or argument other than "well, people have been asking," and they'll probably make them also.
I mean, I'll tell you... as cool as I think these comic 2-packs have been, I'm not all that interested in any of them beyond the "classics." For the most part, all of these more modern Darkhorse sets don't mean much to me, because I'm really not familiar with that area of the EU.
That's what Hasbro thinks about when they decide what figures to make. They're thinking, "Who, if anybody, is going to recognize this figure when it's hanging there on the peg at Wal-Mart?" Meanwhile... Quinlan Vos & Vilmark Grahrk peg warm like crazy all around me.

If they were releasing one or two of the dozen or so EU figures that have been consistently requested for years, testing the waters, it would be different from what it is: constantly saying they have no plans for any of them. You'd think that, at least, they would've thrown Corran Horn in the Rogue Squadron pack.
It goes for film figures, too. Everyone I know has complained about Evazan since the day he was released. Yet they found it more important to re-release IG-88, Bossk, Greedo, and Hammerhead three times each, and still say, "We haven't considered resculpting Dr Evazan." We're talking about three characters with a split second of screen time, and a fourth who has as much screen time as Evazan--and who were all handled pretty well the first time (or amazingly, in Bossk's case).
Make the stuff that has tie-ins, sure. But don't completely ignore the fact that people are asking for other stuff that will certainly sell better than re-releases of the mediocre C-3PO with Battle Droid Head they seem to have a weird fetish for.
But, like I said, when asked about them in Q&A's now, they act like the requests came totally out of left field.
Or how about those "April Fools" figures from last year that they still haven't decided to do? It's just a total disregard for the customer, and it's really starting to p*** me off.

It's just a total disregard for the customerSee... as much as I agree with you about things like the droid head 3PO (lame figure) and resculpting IG-88 and Bossk rather than Dr. Evazan, I really don't think it's fair to say that Hasbro isn't paying attention to the fans.
For a non-film, non-cartoon, non-TV show, Non-blockbuster videogame year... I think they're doing a fine job of putting some really desirable figures out there. Besides, who knows what we're apt to see once this frigging myth of a TV show hits. Dr. Evazan could end up being a main character... and then you'll get Dr. Evazan playsets, vehicles, roll play (costumes), tooth brushes, shampoo, party favors...

Starting to? I've had about enough and my collecting days are numbered.
The impression I'm getting is that 2008 is going to be more Expanded Universe, video game, and Clone Wars cartoon orientated. Thats great for the guys that want that stuff, but it isn't for me.

Frankly, I don't understand the Yarna thing. They should have just said, "Yeah, that one's a long shot, but maybe someday. Keep your fingers crossed."
I still think they'll end up making that one as a surprise or an exclusive at some point. Maybe a pack-in with a new (Sideshow?) diorama or something in the distant future.

Darth Revan is Fan's Choice. I would much rather there be voting for a new figure like him than any rehash "Legends" or what they are calling "Fans Choice" like the Sandtrooper? Give me a break!
I never got to read about him and his apprentice, but now I am curious about his story. I want to see the fight where he silces Malak's chin off ouch!
So yeah he's worth it.
