It's pretty simple....it's October 1st and we'll do the contest for a month. We are all honest on here and can this contest is on the honor. You try to watch as many horror/horror related/monster movies as you can until October 31st. You can have one post and just keep editing it all month long. So just have fun with it, I want to try and go for at least 31, one a day. I'll book mark the 2nd post as mine, so take that you double post demon out there!!! Have Fun!!

Anybody ever see that movie they show every Holloween, where the hero has to fight his way through a house with a lawnmower? It really is gory, and funny (kinda like Evil Dead)

It is a classic, but I can't remember the Title.

If I'm not mistaken it is an Australian film/ Director

I'd really like to get a copy of it, as it's one of the most enjoyable horror flicks of all time for me anyways.

Anyone?

Wow! Peter Jackson. Well, he showed some talent there.
I was close. New Zealand is off the coast of Down-under.
Excellent horror flick.
"Dead Alive" and "Evil Dead" (1&2) are my favorites.
The Upstart sure went on to bigger things, just like Sam Raimi.

I also really like "Killer Clowns from Outer Space"

"The Thing" still really scares the sh** out of me.

A few other good sci-fi-horror flicks are:

They Live (with Roddy Piper)

The Hidden (with Kyle McClachlan)

He also starred in Blue Velvet, which wasn't a horror flick but kinda dark and scary.

UKWildcat

I really like the first House movie, that one is a classic and has some sentimental value to me. The sequel isn't the best, it's actually really bad at times, but I had to put it on after watching the first one. They sure do like the cast of Cheers, don't they? lol. I didn't realize that was Bill Maher in the second one either.

I did have all of the Critters movies at one point but sold 3 and 4 some time ago. Hanging onto the first 2 though, love those.

It has been forever since I have seen either of the first two Ghoulies movies, never saw the third or fourth at all.

I don't know what's dumber on that list: the inclusion of Bambi (horror film? seriously? this isn't meant to be a joke?) or this ridiculously stupid quote about Phantom of the Opera: "This film was remade many times, most recently as V for Vendetta."

I take it the guy didn't actually watch V or read the graphic novel it was based on. The similarity ends at the main character wearing a mask to hide his hideous scars. For that matter, he could've said Fantastic Four was a remake of Phantom, too.

Well, I'll be the first to say that I really enjoy Day of the Dead. I enjoyed LOTD too, but not as much as Day. It's been a while since I have seen either one.

The Return of the Living Dead - "Burt? Frank. We have a little problem here." The best dead movie of all time!

Awesome movie!!! One of my favorites. I watched that one early on in the challenge and will try to fit it in again (although I seriously doubt that I will be able too), thats how much I enjoy it. All of the characters are outstanding, especially Burt and Ernie, Frank is good people too, and the kids... Trash... :lipsrsealed:

Just out of curiosity, what don't you like about the film? :) I didn't find any of the characters really all that likable, so I don't really care what happens to them. And unlike Dawn, Day is just one long, dark depressing movie without any light-hearted moments to give you a breather from the horror. In Dawn, the characters get to enjoy a brief respite from the action, having the run of the shopping mall, and I can identify with that.

My goal was 31 and I ended with 39, so I guess I did alright. I was able to knock out Halloween I and II last night which is what I was wanting to accomplish. The second one ended after midnight, but don't tell anyone. ;)

Whats funny is that a couple of people over at DVDTalk have "watched" over 320 movies during their challenge, sometimes claiming anywhere between 15-20+ titles a day. I mean, come on. I have been following the discussions and people have been calling them out and arguing about it; it was quite entertaining, before the mods stepped in. Why would people lie about a horror movie challenge, besides the fact that the winner would win a gift certificate (which was a horrible idea)?!?!?! Its a crazy world.

15-20 per day? Damn! Even if you're on the low end of that, and they're short movies, you're still talking 15 hours! There are only 24 hours in a day. 20+ would be absolutely impossible.

Oh, and I win. I watched the most. I just didn't want to brag.

I didn't get around to watching my usual Halloween cartoons either: Great Pumpkin, Garfield's Halloween Special, Far Side Halloween Special, and Disney's Legend of Sleepy Hallow. Still, Halloween isn't over until The Simpson's Treehouse of Horror episode airs, which thanks to baseball, will be this Sunday.

Didn't come close to my goal of 31. I had wanted to watch one a day, but it got hard when I went out of town a couple times, once for alumni weekend and other time to visit the lady. I'm going to start up one in December for Holiday Movies, or movies that take place during the December Holidays.
