The new Master Replicas scaled helmets: MR C-3PO (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2890680&cp=&sr=1&origkw=star+wars&kw=star+wars&parentPage=search) and MR Vader - electronic (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2890681&cp=&sr=1&origkw=star+wars&kw=star+wars&parentPage=search) made after the Riddell helmets

Noticed these the other day and was surprised not to hear of them sooner. I guess being an exclusive they were hush hush.
Since Comic-Con, I've searched the Radio Shack site periodically for the metal laser pointer sabers they had on display.
These are available now as well...
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2845796&cp=&sr=1&origkw=star+wars&kw=star+wars&parentPage=search - Vader and Maul.
Noticed the C-3PO helm also has sound. No mention of light up eyes like Riddell though, just sound.

I'm collecting the Mini Helmets as well. Cant wait for the Clone Troopers at the end of the year.

I'm a little miffed though because I JUST bought the Riddell Threepio and Vader thinking that MR wasnt doing them.

The Rebelscum member Wclehmann wrote a short review of these new helmets - it seems they are somehow lower quality than Riddells:

1. They do not remove from the stands. They are stationary.
2. Vader is not the reveal. It is a single piece that, again, does not remove from the stand.
3. C-3PO's eyes do light up and says the phrases when motion activated.
4. The weight seems to be much lighter than the Riddells. Don't know if it is the materials (seem to be made of plastic for sure).
5. All of the electronics are in the base, and the speaker is in the top of the base in the rear.
6. The phrases are the usual ones: "I find your lack of faith disturbing" + others for Vader. And C-3PO gives his probability blurb + others. Good, iconic phrases were chosen. But the sounds seem to be a bit echo-y. A bit hollow. Especially the C-3PO.

Well that sucks. I might get them so the stands will match the other MR stands. Not decided yet.

I'm surprised to hear the helmets are cheaper, stripped-down versions AND not removable. I wonder what the deal is with this. Of course, thinking about it, it's not like that Vader was cheap original, it was $90 from Riddell, and 3PO was $60 I think. Still, I wonder what the thinking was on these.

Its dissapointing that the MR Vader and 3PO helmets are not removable. Wedge is and I believe Luke, Boba and Stormie are.

Doesnt matter now, everything is a Corgi idea.

Has anyone found the new Radio Shack helmets, or the laser pointers in stores yet?
I would love to see them in person, and then decide about ordering.

Also the build your own FX saber is online now, as out-of-stock...

I have the original Vader riddell helmet and if memory serves I didn't pay even remotely close to $90. I'd like a Jango Helmet.

The original price on the Riddell Vader helmet was $90. However they didnt sell very well and they were sold off for less to distributers who discounted them. Thats why you didnt pay $90.

KBtoys.com used to sell them for $20-40.

Found the new Threepio and Vader scaled helmets at Radio Shack tonight. Pretty cool -would have picked them up if I hadnt just got the Riddell versions.

They also had the build your own FX lightsaber. Not impressed.

Anyone know by chance if the scaled Clone helmets are being sold by anyone else other than Mr website? I wanted a couple extra white clones, but didn't know if I could pick them up somewhere else (Entertainment Earth, other websites, etc.)

On a side note, the shipping for 5 clone helmets is $36.05 to California. Seems steep, but I guess everything is these days.

Boba Fett and Stormtrooper scaled helmets now shipping -finally!

I recommend BigbadToyStore.com for the scaled Clone helmets. Theres where I preordered mine.

Got my Stormtrooper helmet the other day, very awesome! I picked up the shadow stormtrooper helmet at SDCC and they look great together. Tried to put the helmet on my cat, but alas, his head is too big :( He looked at me like I was crazy but let me try anyway.

Wow, a cat's head is larger than 45% of a human head? I never would have guessed! What about your head? It's kinda small, right? Is your cat's head close to your head's size? ;)

Yer killin' me smalls!! :laugh::laugh:

I'd say about 3 of his heads = one of mine? I'm guessing, totally!

JediTricks

If that were the case, there's no way the scaled Trooper helmet wouldn't fit, it's .45 scale, 55% bigger and it fits on a human head. Maybe the problem is you're not pushing hard enough, I'm sure your cat won't mind. ;)

What are the chances we see the Stormtrooper, Wedge or Boba helmets they have in stock clearanced before 12/31 to blow them out? I'm guessing they are going to take pre-orders for all of the rest until 12/31 and then make a decsion whether or not to make them based on quantity ordered. Any thoughts on this?

I cant post pics at SSG -too hard to do. BUT, I have opened my Stormie and it's f'n sweet! Nice detail. Very clean and classic. Makes me want my 1:1 even more!

Also got a ship notice for the Boba mini. Eeeek!

The 1:1 doesn't have the interior details like the Riddell/MR scaled one. It seems the scaled stormie helmet is exactly like the Blackhole scaled helmet.

I checked out the 1:1 and scaled BHS helmets at the MR CIV Party in LA this last year. Both are spot on in likeness.

Got my shipping notice for the Luke Scaled helmet!

About two months back my mother recived a $150.00 gift card to Radio Shack when she bought a new cell phone and she let me and my sister pick use it to pick out Christmas presents for ourselves.

I saw the exclusive MR products they had and so I picked up the C-3PO Scaled Helmet and the Vader Lightsaber Laser pointer. These are the first two High-End Star Wars Collectables I've gotten and I'm very impressed.

Love the C-3PO helmet. I may go back and buy the Vader helmet to go along with it.

The vader helmet is on sale this week for 29.99. Worth it for that price IMO, and if you can loosen the glue on top, the reveal feature is great. My was already apart in the box. Don't think they will restock now, and once they are gone that's probably it, they don't stock many toys, collectible gadget stuff, after Christmas.

For $29.99 I'll get it after having just bought the Riddell version.

My Luke X-Wing should be here tomorrow.

Since I'm in Romania too bad I cannot order the MR Vader one. But I have the Riddell (signed by Dave Prowse) and might get MR Vader in the future.

Picked up the Vader helmet at Radio Shack to go along with my C-3PO. There was nine bucks left on my Mom's Radio Shack card so I got the helmet for twenty three bucks.

By the way does anybody know where to purchase display cases for my new helmets at a reasonable price?

JediTricks
01-06-2008, 08:32 PM
I think the company that makes the Star Cases for action figures also makes hard cases for displaying those Riddell mini-helmets (they're technically for mini-football helmets, but they're the exact same scale so they fit).

sergiurusu

$30-$40 last time I looked. I don't remember the company or site name anymore, last time I saw them was in person at a local collector show.

The 2 MR helmets with the plaque stand look good flanking the Riddell Vader (w/out plaque).

I picked up my 3 scaled clone helmets (Gree, 501st, and regular) from my parents this past weekend. All 3 look great, but the window area near the right eye is broken (on all 3). No damage to the helemets tho. I don't yet have them up for display.

Radio Shack has the MR helmets for 19.99 now, in store only (sold out on website).
You can locate stock online though. I picked up an extra 3po to try to weather, next to my MR clean one.
Can't beat it for that.

Hey, that sounds pretty cool, gonna add paint or go further with chipping the vac-metallized finish and denting (tough!)? Let us know how it goes, include pics if you can.

I'd love to try a dangling eye port if I could, without wrecking the electronics, or maybe adding different insides if I can't do it without damage. I figure for 20 bucks, it'd be a fun project battle damaging it in the name of Star Wars!
