The Admiral even says that "It's an older code, but it checks out. I was about to clear them."

Vader obviously believes that there is something wrong.

So why didn't air traffic control in orbit alert the base on Endor to watch out for a suspicious shuttle? And why didn't they track the shuttle to see if it was landing at the base? Wouldn't the Imperials know where the Tyderium landed in the forest and then alert the Biker Scouts who just happened to be patrolling just a few hundred feet away from the landing site?

When did Palps tell Ani that Luke would come to him ?

I can't remember if it was before or after the shuttle landed...I think it was after, which means I have nothing to add to this thread right now.

Thanks.

IIRC, the Emperor had set up the trap on the moon. So, it seems him and Vader were aware that it was full of Rebels as well as Luke, and the Emperor knew Luke would come to Vader.

So, if Vader had had the Admiral send warnings to intercept the shuttle, they might've escaped and their meeting with Luke would be delayed. Or, if they had sent troops to imprison them after landing then a fire-fight could have broken out which, again, would delay their meeting, assuming Luke isn't killed in the process.

The purpose was to entrap and destroy the entire rebel alliance. Intercepting the shuttle would have given the game away too early. Vader gives specific instructions to let them through.

Also remember that the Empire probably had more than one outpost on Endor. The shield generator may have just been a small one, they could have had resorts and casinos on the other side, or at least a red-light district where the construction crews could let off steam. There was probably enough traffic for one small shuttle to get "lost", at least for the 1-2 days necessary to conduct their attack.

I want to say it was before but I can't remember off hand.
