Just for curiosity because this collection will probably never reach the US.
Atlas, a french brand is making a new line of small die-cast starships & vehicles from Starwars. Made of die-cast metal with a few details made of plastic, they are a little bigger than the Titanium minis (about 1/4 to 1/3 bigger). Here are a little preview of what's to come. 65 vehicles are planned incl. (Death Star 1 & 2, Tie fighter, Vader's Tie, Amidala flying wing Ep2, Amidala Nubian starship Ep1, Slave 1, ETA-2 starfighter, Jawa Sandcrawler, Jabba's Barge, X-wing, A-wing, Grievous wheelbike, AT-RT, AT-AT, Naboo fighter, Sith Infiltrator, Y-wing, Juggernauth, Star Destroyer... etc...*
Product is Lucasfilm Licensed.

Two wrong points. First they are incredibly expensive at 14.99 Çuros each (french are frackin' rich it seems  ) and they will be only available in France by now.
Anyway, just for curiosity, here is a few pics of the first issue with the Millenium Falcon.

Better pics here :

Holy crap! I want!

Man, importing would be bad enough, but 14.99 euros each? That's insane, comes out to $21 USD. :crazed: They look nice though...

Wow- those ARE pretty cool but definitely a little pricey- however 65 ships?!?!?!? That'll put Hasbro to SHAME!

Do they have any "action features" or are they just static die-cast models?

Man, those are craaaaazy! The pricepoint is unholy, even with that display box, that's way too much scratch. They look nice, a VERY different take on some of those designs like the Falcon and the Jedi Starfighter from Hasbro's designers. I don't understand that packaging at all! Looks like a huge waste of materials and space.

I like those Atlas ships...no distribution in N American? Very sad....would like the Naboo Cruiser and the wheelbike and....i'd pay $20 for a few of em.

Are you the same person with the Action Fleet site? If so, thanks...it was very helpful.
Gotta say that the Death Star II looks pretty kewl too.

Hey James,

Hope your French is good... mine's sketchy to say the least. Bon appetit.

http://www.editionsatlas.fr/p/06606/star-wars.html

This site doesn't show much of the list that Sicqnus posted but it's all I've seen so far online. And how did he score those first ships?

Damn, that Naboo Cruiser looks good to me...never seen one in 3 dimensions.

Check out Rebelscum for a little bit more about figures from this line, too. Look crap to me...

Hilariously, there's controversy about the "TR-TT".
From Wookiepedia:

The Nocturn˘ appears only in the French-language RPG magazine <Casus Belli 99> as a result, its canonical status is unclear.
The scout walkers carried aboard the battlemoon are identified in French by the designation TR-TT or Transport de Reconnaissance Tout Terrain. At the time the magazine was written, this designation indicated the AT-ST; but some French fansites claim that the same designation is shared by the smaller, older vehicle known in English-language material as the AT-RT.

In French, the words "Reconnaissance" and "Scout" can only be translated by a single word : "Reconnaissance" (others translations are less adequate, like "Observation" or "Exploration"). The AT-S(scout)T is translated officially into TR-TT, and AT-R(reconnaissance)T must also be translated into "TR-TT" - or "Clone Army TR-TT". However, the Transport de Reconnaissance Tout Terrain designate in French the Imperial model of TR-TT (All Terrain Scout Transport), not the Grand Army one (All Terrain Reconnaissance Transport).

Too funny...I'll take Sicqnus' word for it. I like the sound of battlemoon, though.

This is called a Gallofree, apparently... news to me:

http://rules.swcombine.com/?Freighters&ID=31 (http://www.starwars-holonet.com/holonet.php?fiche=ship_mtrn)

I just can't understand why we've seen only 1 Rebel (semi) capital ship from Titanium, and no T-16 Skyhopper... these are canon classics. The SW minis are ok for some of them but larger and diecast would be better. I'm with you James... more capital ships.

I am surprised that Atlas would launch this line now... things are fairly slow in the SW universe until The Clone Wars next autumn. I'm am pleased though.

sicqnus

In fact I took two subscriptions. One for me and the other one for my neighbors. I'll pay for Issue 2 and 3 (the 3 gives you two ships : ETA-2 JSF & Classic Tie fighter), after this I'll cancel the neighbour's subscription and will keep mine.
Atlas is lauching this lone now because it's the 30th anniversary of the "A new hope" release in theaters here in France.

The figures line is a totally different line that is coming from Spain. There are a few ships in it but they are all crap, very badly done.

Hey Sicqnus, I'm in the Uk, the Atlas website won't let me order (have to be in France). If you have any news about this magazine being released in the Uk, or know of any other way that i can subscribe to it, would you please post the info.

Thanks

I can navigate japanese sites pretty well and my japanese doesn't exist. I know a few french words thanks to my dad who lived there for a few years as a child because my grandfather was in the army and they moved around alot. I can probably navigate this pretty well. BTW this site doesn't have many pictures of the ships yet but I can guarantee these will be imported to America at some point. Just like the easy model ships a US company will see the marketability and import these. My capital ships preference is pretty small, like the ISD SSD Mon Calamari Home One Interdictor Victory and Eclipse for starters. This site is pretty bare at the moment thanks for the link I'll keep checking it for more pics.

Some more shots... gotta say they look pretty good.

I noticed an illustration of the Outrider in there.. looks like Sicqnus can add it to his list, I'd think. He did have a shot of the same page but it's not on the list.

Atlas doesn't promise one but I'd think they're making it... thus the page. Hasbro promised a Titanium Outrider but never coughed one up. Whadda fu...?

There's a pic of studmuffin Dash Rendar in there... gotta chuckle... are the shoulder pads there for servicing his Wookie?

I hate to say it, but those while having a design improvement over the Hasbro versions, are sorta underwhelming with wonky paint on the trans parts and thick paint on the main bodies.

Oh man, is every page in that calendar a different image? Why can't we get a calendar like that in the US? I'd love a 365 vehicle production art calendar!

That AT-AT looks very monotone, they should have tried some paint beyond gray. It looks like a good sculpt though, what don't you like about it?

The Naboo Royal Cruiser seems very off to me, the tail is too pronounced, the wings not wide enough, and the main body not round enough.

Darth Duranium

I want that Naboo Cruiser, even though it looks squished. Why hasn't Hasbro made one? Arghhhh.

I always thought it looked a bit like the nazi plane from Indy I... classic flying wing.

JediTricks
12-20-2007, 04:19 AM
The Naboo Royal Cruiser was based on a real flying wing, a '50s Northrop prototype flying wing.

You ever wonder where the Nazis were supposed to have been trying to put the Ark on that flying wing? (I have a nifty Action Fleet-scale version of it from Disneyland).

Darth Duranium
12-21-2007, 08:14 PM

I know there's a hatch for it, but the box is BIGGER than the height of the fuselage, so unless they were planning to let it hang halfway out...

Finally, I received another shipment. This time nothing too exciting with a bland looking Star Destroyer, a nice but curiously made Death Star and an amazing Grievous wheelbike.

First, the wheel bike :

http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/9553/yydscn8988xy4.jpg
http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/5859/yydscn8990rr2.jpg
http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/183/yydscn8991oq6.jpg

And the Death Star & Star Destroyer. The Death Star has panel lines in relief which is a strange way to mold them. Probably it is to make it more attractive and less "flat". :cross-eye
The Death Star is roughly the size of a Tennis ball.

http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/205/zzdscn8977oz2.jpg

Next time, the Tydirium shuttle, another Amidala's cruiser and the Jabba's sail barge. This last one is good looking. Haven't seen yet the first two.

It's interesting... by the end of the year, Hasbro's will have produced about 68 unique SW Titanium ships over the space of 4 years.

This 68 includes the ones announced as part of upcoming waves (and seen at SDCC '08). Obviously, this doesn't include the X-Wing retool, any repaints, Ultras, BSG, Marvel, Indy, etc.

Hasbro averages about 17 new tools per year... this year we'll get about 20 new tools if things hold up. 21, if you include the new X-Wing.

Atlas has produced about 22 of the 60 unique ships that they've announced... all in about 1 year. Not bad for their first year...

These ships have been announced by Atlas but have not yet been announced as joining the Titanium line (some have been hinted at, though):

- Death Star II
- Homing Spider Droid
- STAP
- Geonosian Fighter
- Medical Frigate
- Escape Pod
- Zam Wesell's Speeder
- Corporate Alliance Tank Dro´d
- Owen's Swoopbike
- Grievous' Wheelbike
- Mon Calamari Cruiser MC-80A
- Anakin's Speeder
- BARC Speeder

So, Titanium and Atlas share about 47 ships, and Titanium has produced 21 ships not yet announced by Atlas. About, cuz some details are sketchy.

It'd sure be nice to mix and match, like Sicqnus. Wish we could pick these up here without getting hosed on eBay.

Strangely, I can't find Atlas' SW website anymore... anyone know where it is now?

As far as I know, the Starwars section on the Atlas website has been removed because they've sold enough subcriptions to sell all their production. They do this for most of their collections.

Thanks for the pics and website info, Sicqnus... the Atlas ships are quite a bit bigger than the Titaniums... so my apples-to-apples comparison is a bit misleading. Still, 47 ships (so far) in common between the 2 lines. It's hard not to compare...

The detailing is quite nice on that AT-RT (or whatever it's controversially called en francais) and the TIE, too... very "clean" markings and paint on the Atlas ships, compared to Titanium. Quite often, they're quite a different riff on the same ship design...

The TIE looks about the same size as the Kenner diecast TIE from the 70's... but much nicer, obviously.

I'd love to see a loose white Titanium TIE next to the Atlas TIE... but that's asking a lot, I know. The same for any other ship you'd care to do a comparison of. Do the Atlas ships even come off their stands?

The only thing that irks me is the price... over $22 per ship is frakkin' scary! I'd probably have to be choosey about this line if it was even available here. Is the line available at all in shops in France?

But I'd be picking up the Atlas capital ships for sure! The ISD and Venator are outstanding, IMHO.

I even like the Braille Death Star... or is it scratch and sniff?

Darth Windu
08-29-2008, 10:26 PM
Well the price sucks, but thats partially the result of limited distribution - if they expand into the UK and US the price should come down.

Having said that I think they'd make a companion piece to the TS vehicles, but I'd only buy the ones I REALLY want, like the Venator and Delta-7 Jedi Starfighter.

FYI:

Looks like this line is now available in the UK and Spain and is being retailed by DeAgostini... identical to the Atlas line.

The British site is offering a Darth Vader statue as a bonus, instead of the big Death Star. Seems a lesser bonus to me... DV statues are dime-a-dozen. No kewl calendar either.

The British site's below:

Perhaps this line will make it to N. America and elsewhere after all... I hope they're available a la carte.

My wife just got back from a trip to Spain and Portugal and she was kind enough to bring me back a Falcon and a TIE Fighter (the only two she saw while she was over there). I have to say that they're both quite well done. It makes me want more of the series. I just wish I knew Spanish so I could read the booklets that came with the ships.

Heads up for my American buds...

Someone in Buffalo NY is selling the Atlas Naboo Cruiser on eBay for $3.99 (Buy it now) and they've got at least 4 of them.

They're the German edition (!?) but the ship's the same.

They don't ship to Canada (a 10 minute drive from Buffalo!) or internationally so I'm screwed (unless someone wants to grab one for me and I'll reimburse you).

Anyone have any idea what order these are appearing in. So far I've gathered...

Anakins Jedi Fighter + TIE fighter two pack
ISD

Between those two I saw the AT AT, and before all of them I saw the Falcon and X-Wing not sure how much else has been released as I haven't been checking that often.

Have just got to get some Venators, but these are seriously expensive so I'm being very picky as to which I pick up. Liked Anakins fighter and the ISD, passed on the At-at and only have the TIE as it came with Anakins.

I really love this line of diecast Star Wars vehicles. Part of the thrill is, simply that you cannot get these here in the states. The other part is, that some of the key pieces are just better than the Titanium line. So far, I've got the X-Wing, the Millennium Falcon and the Star Destroyer. I also love the little magazines that come with them that are packed with all sorts of interesting information. I look forward to collecting more of these as well as those cool Figurines that DeAgostini offered a few years earlier.

My only beef with the Star Wars Starships and Vehicles collection is that I've not yet figured out how to get them off of the stands. If I'm not mistaken, they appear to be screwed in at two locations, one at the base of the vehicle and one at the baseplate. There's a covering on the bottom, I'm not sure if I can use a flathead screwdriver on it without marring it too much to gain access to the screw. If anyone has any suggestions, they are much appreciated!

Cheers!

Hey, welcome to the conversation! Surprised to hear from someone picking these up in the US, that is some dedication. I haven't seen these anywhere except in this thread, not at Comic-Con or at Frank & Sons (it's a small weekly collector show here in Los Angeles), so I haven't wanted to shell out to find out how they are, especially with the price quoted in the thread. How much are you paying for them, if you don't mind me asking?

I've seen a few German ones available from US eBay sellers... but so far, I haven't seen any at retail, either.

I'd love to pick up the capital ships from this line... very nice, indeed.

Ok, I'm addicted to this line. I love the little magazines that come with them. I've got the A-Wing on order now. Found one from a US seller on eBay. I also have a few items (the Falcon and the Imperial Shuttle) from DeAgostini's earlier Figures line. They are different from the Starships. The ships from the Figures line appear to be made of a heavier metal, perhaps lead. Quite heavy whereas the ships from the Starships line appear to be made of Zinc or white metal (which is the defacto material in other fine diecast models from makers like Corgi, etc). The Figures line ships also do not come with the display case and have a different base.

Now that the TS line's slipping into oblivion, it might be time to consider the ships that Atlas/DeAgostino etc. have listed that Hasbro hasn't done in the TS:

Death Star II
Homing Spider Droid
STAP
Geonosian Fighter
Nebulon-B Medical Frigate
Escape Pod
Anakin's Speeder
Zam Wesell's Speeder
Corporate Alliance Tank Droid
Gungan Sub
Owen's Swoopbike

I've seen the Death Star II on eBay, but none of the others.

Does anyone know if these were actually released? The above list reads like my Titanium Wants list...

Good news!!

For those of us in the U.S. who have been considering getting into these, Diamond Comics are going to start offering them for order. $18.00 a piece though, but for those who didn't want to deal with importing, at least this is an option. They have 4 of the them available for order from your local comic shop in the next Diamond Previews. They've been selling the similar Marvel and DC figurine lines for a while.

#1 - Millenium Falcon
#2 - X-Wing
#27 - General Grevious's Wheel Bike
#28 - Naboo Royal Cruiser

Expected delivery is October though. But at least it's better than importing.

Found a bunch of the DeAgostino/Atlas vehicles at my local comic shop yesterday... I was extremely pleased... my first opportunity!

They had the X-Wing (bland paint), TIE/Anakin JSF combo (both sharp, clean), Nebulon (very chunky and huge...maybe 75% bigger than the TS), AT-AT (no detail, bad sculpt, cheap looking), Falcon (meh paint), and AT-RT (very nice).
I passed on those but I grabbed the Naboo Cruiser and Grievous Wheelbike.

The DA Naboo Cruiser is about an inch smaller across the wings... Hasbro's is much more accurate in its sculpting (especially around the main fuselage), but I do like the beefier profile on the DA. I knew it was inferior to the TS when I bought it but dammit, I just couldn't say no a Nubian when it was in my hand.:D

The Wheelbike is most impressive, so to speak... would make an excellent ninja throwing star.:ninja: The wheel and its guts are solid metal and the cockpit and arms are very nicely cast resin. Drawbacks: I miss having Grievous riding it and nothing moves. Still, it is suh-weet, IMHO.

Gonna be very selective about which ones I get (overkill factor in effect) but I'm becoming a huge fan of the line! Less like toys, more like scale replicas.

And yes, once you pop off a plastic cap, a Phillips screwdriver will remove the screws that hold the ships to their bases.

DW, if you mean the AA-9 Transport, I'm definitely interested, too. Pic below.

The smaller WOTC Wheelbike (w/ rider) put the seat on the wrong side, though according to the booklet there was originally a seat on each side before Grievy modified it.

http://www.journaux.fr/liste.php?sousfam=100545&collec=1&choix_tri=date_asc&abo=&fig=&livre=&dvd=/

Sicqnus said that there'll be about 65... I hope they keep going and I like that they stuck exclusively to ships/vehicles from the flicks. I could do without the box, stand, and magazine though... would be cheaper that way.

The AT-RT looks great DH, but aside from the guns the DA Tantive IV looks very cheap-looking. How is it in person? At least it hasn't been stretched forward like the Titanium version.

Darth Duranium
12-02-2009, 06:24 AM
I like the DA Tantive IV a lot, DW... it really makes the Hasbro ones look scrawny, as you point out. In person, I thought it made the TS ones seem cheap, actually! It could use some more paint for sure (cockpit!), but the tool itself is very heavy and all-metal and I really like that all the seams are hidden.

The sculpted detailing around the (huge) engines is much nicer than Titanium's, IMO. No screws, either. But they screwed up the dish (it's round!)... Hasbro's is more accurate.

Hehehe funny... always with you it's guns and phaser strips, DW!:D I like the guns, too... pretty important feature to add on. Actually, this Tantive is well scaled to go with the new TS Nebulon B... it's the same length.

Agreed, the AT-RT is excellent... again, no seams or screws. I put a TS speederbike trooper in the saddle (with saddlebags!) and it fits fine... it is truly Titanium sized. Detailing is excellent on this one... especially the instrument panels.

I will definitely be grabbing the capital ships and some of the others from this line... I've been quite impressed with the overall quality.

Hi everyone. Long time no post. Sorry.
I've been very busy at work these past two years. The economical crisis is hitting most companies and we have to work even harder to save what can be saved, which left no time for the hobby. Will be better in the future.
Fortunately I took a subscription to the Atlas Vehicles and I still get them in the mailbox twice a month. I thought a few pics would be good.

Some of them are really good, some others are total crap.

I got the DeAgostini AT-AT and it is as bad as described, in fact even worse because one of the lateral cannons was broken as soon as I got it out of the package. :sad:I think this might be the worst AT-AT replica made in any size, even worse than McDonalds Happy Meal AT-AT... The book is quite cool though, but not sure what is with Dexter's diner inside this book...

I'll be looking for Titanium Ultra AT-AT, F-Toys AT-AT and Hallmark AT-AT in the future. People said the F-toys AT-AT is great, but I didn't find a reliable European store to carry it yet.

Sergiu is right about the AT-AT... Others are bad. Here is my list of the "must not have" :
1 - Nebulon-B frigate (atrocious, a joke...).
2 - Death Star II (very bad sculpting... even if the DS1 is pretty cool).
3 - Naboo Fighter.

Others are nice but need some paintjob :
1 - Blockade Runner.
2 - Star Destroyer.
3 - Slave One (Lateral pads are... orange).
4 - B-wing (missing lines on canopy).

I've just received the Escape Pod and the Dro´d Fighter (EPIII). I'll post pics tomorrow.

Thanks Sergiu and JT, Happy New Year to everyone.

Here are the pics of the Nebulon-B Medical Frigate. As previously said, it is not pretty... I should say we will have hard times to marry her. :D
But I still have my Nebulon-B from Wayne Pugh (Scale Solutions - Australia) which is pretty nice. It is a one piece resin sold by three or four. Don't remember the exact price but it was pretty cheap, even with shipping from Australia included.

Thanks for the pics again, Sicq... appreciate them a lot. I just ordered the Escape Pod.

Just got the DA Escape Pod... here's some pics of it next to the AF Battle Pack version and the TS Vader TIE.

I decided to use the base as a stand and chop it down to take up a lot less room ...and it angles the pod better. I couldn't find another stand that worked, anyway. Sucker's heavy!

I like it a lot... almost solid metal and much closer to the onscreen version than Galoob's.

Picked up the DA ISD and Venator today... both are quite nice.

The Venator's got a nice battleship grey hue to it... very similar to Hasbro's... maybe a little sharper. Could use more paint. Nice but skippable if you've got the Titanium.

The ISD is awesome... a wider profile and much closer to the onsceen version. Got a nice sharp front hull, tight detailing all around. Could use more paint, especially on the engines. Recommended!

Darth Windu
01-20-2010, 05:40 AM
I like the Venator. The red and yellow circle is bigger, as it should be, and the details don't seem to be over-exaggerated as in the Titanium version.

Not too sure of the ISD though, looks like it's too wide just like the 'Starship Battles' Executor.

Darth Duranium
01-20-2010, 04:25 PM
Agreed DW... the DA ISD is a little wide but the TS is a little too skinny and tall. I agree with JT: it looks great in the Fleet on the shelf.... another ship of the line. At least it's not warped to hell like the WOTC ISD was... and to me, the slim side profile really makes it look bigger than it is. I gotta say I much prefer it over the TS ones.

I like the big logos on the DA Venator too... and the detailing on the hull (to the sides of the bridge) is quite awesome. Again, the slim profile works really well to add scale. And I like that the paintjob's so distinct from the others.

Really wish they'd done an Acclamator!!!!

So far, I've skipped all of DA's snub fighters but I'll pick up the fighters that Hasbro didn't do. I am totally hooked on DA's medium transports and cap ships!!! Next up, the TF Battleship!

Merci beaucoup, Sicq.

The DA Liberty's a bit more chunky and substantial but much less detailed than Titanium's. No seafood sauce paint (woo hoo) but I'm not so crazy about the DA's desert camo paint... reminds me of Rommel's Afrika Korp. Still, I will buy it when it gets here.

I like the DA T-16's black canopy and that the longer main cannon's better sculpted than Titanium's, IMHO. The painted pneumatic cannons are good, too. Looks a nice size and it's probably 95% metal, too. That percentage is reversed on the TS one.

The DA T-16 has a little missile bracket or something hanging from under the port-side wing, which is a cool detail I've never seen in a replica before. Hasbro missed it. Luke didn't.:) Anybody know what it is? It's not on the schematics I've seen.

Darth Duranium
01-30-2010, 03:48 AM
My DA Geonosian Fighter just arrived... it's quite good and I'm chuffed to have it. Sucks that Titanium ignored Geonosian ships.

Nice size, lots of metal, and it looks pretty good with Dooku's shuttle, IMO.

Here's some comparison shots of it with the AF Solar Sailer and the TS Neimoidian Shuttle.

Are these the De 'Agostini ones I see listed at BBTS??? I didn't see Luke's landspeeder or T-16 listed so I guess they're sold out. Hust how big are these, and where do you guys purchase them from? I'm intrigued...haven't seen these before.

Darth Duranium
01-31-2010, 05:26 AM
Yep Jon, they're one and the same... they're called Atlas in France and DeAgostino in most other places. Actually, they're usually called "Official Ships and Vehicles Collection" here.

The first ships were released in France 3 years ago, but the line just reached N. America last fall. France is way further ahead in the released ship department (T-16, Landspeeder) but we'll likely catch up this year or next. They've shown 61 ships on the French site, but BBTS only shows 36 for sale or pre-order so far. Cheaper at TFAW, anyway.

http://www.journaux.fr/liste.php?sousfam=100545&collec=1&choix_tri=date_desc&abo=&fig=&livre=&dvd=/

I got the Geonosian Fighter on eBay from France for $6... that's the only reason I've got one "early". Arrived in a week, "super-eco" cheap shipping. Glad I speak a little French. France's postal system seems pretty good.

For more info, Sicqnus has posted loads of pics further back in this thread. Generally, they're a little bit larger than the Titaniums, but some are the same size as Titanium or smaller.

Well I received my two Atlas/Deagostini vehicles today and I'm quite impressed, especially since they cost the same as the titaniums.

The AT-TE is significantly larger, more detailed, and better painted than the titanium AT-TE. However, the main turret doesn't turn. I didn't realise this at the because it does turn if you put a little force to it, it will break off though, as I learnt first hand. Thanks god for superglue gel. :)

I'll get a comparison pic of the titanium vs atlas AT-TE's tomorrow hopefully, but now looking forward to the others even more. :)

Oh, does anyone know how to remove them from their base?

Darth Duranium
02-08-2010, 09:31 AM
None of the DAs I've seen have any moving parts... and agreed, the small amount of plastic on 'em is pretty brittle. Have to be careful not to drop them! Superglue rocks.

To remove the stand, I first used a pair of vicegrips to pinch in both of the black plastic tabs on the circular disk under the stand... just hold them tightly and twist. The disk comes off to reveal a small Phillips screw which comes off next. You'll have to use an even smaller Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the teeny screw that attaches the ship to the clear stem. VoilÓ. Free at last.

I ended up modding the (HUGE!) bases by chopping the stand into a 1-1/2 inch strip (width-wise with the hole in the middle) and turning the ship and stem to a 45 degree angle from its original factory position. Often, the stems and the hole both take a little sanding with a Dremel so that the ship angles like it was on a Titanium stand. Well anyhoo, there ya go.

Darth Windu
02-11-2010, 07:28 AM
Well I've removed both die-casts from their bases. Ended up destroying the caps covering the screws, which I'm fine with. Even without the caps the bases still look fine considering that the screws etc are still black! Makes me wonder why they bothered with the caps at all.

The DA Skiff is awesome... the detailing completely blows the Titanium away! I will definitely get one, too! Alors!

I see what you mean about the Bongo's windows... not the best idea. Still, it looks like it will have to come home with me in the future. I wasn't very upset when the wheeled(!) Titanium one was cancelled. This is better, IMO.

Looking forward to Zam's speeder... looks nice. I hope it's a little smaller than the Tiger one, which is quite good. DeAgostini cancelled Anakin's Coruscant speeder, didn't they? Shame... they would've looked good together.

Okay, had to share this with you guys. I contacted DeAgonstini and asked them if they'd be doing a Republic Assault Ship/Acclamator. The reply I received is thus:

"Thank you for your correspondence.

I wish to confirm that unfortunately it is not been confirmed that the below
will be launched, however should this be launced then it will be widely
advertised.

Should you require further assistance, please do not hestitate to contact us
directly."

From what I heard, there will only be 60 vehicles and that's it. A little French company near Paris made the resin masters (they were bigger than the actual minis) with the help of Lucasfilm. They said they sent a huge list to LFL and the choice was made by Lucasfilm.

I've never heard of an Acclamator. They could make a second collection but I really doubt they will.

Darth Duranium
04-16-2010, 06:36 AM
Thanks for the info, Sicqnus... good to know. Hilarious response DW... I wrote to them last year and they told me that the DA ships wouldn't be available in Canada... but they are! Helpful? Mais non.

Yep, the French Atlas site stopped at issue #60 shortly before it disappeared into the night. No Acclamator, though.

Technically speaking, there's 62 ships in total, if you add the JSF/TIE double issue and the Death Star 1 which I'm fairly certain was exclusive to France.

So far, we've seen 50 ships listed for N. America but I imagine we'll get the last 10 listed for pre-sale soon.

Thanks to the noble Sicqnus, I am now the proud father of the Atlas/ DA Death Star! It just arrived all the way from Paris and I'm really happy to have it... never thought I'd ever get one. I think that they were only released in France and Germany and I've never seen one on eBay.

Again, thank you very much, Sicqnus! They're nearly impossible to find and you've made this collector very happy! I know you went to a lot of trouble to find one for me and I really appreciate it. Woo hoo!! You the man!

Nice score on the Anigrand MC Liberty, Sicqnus... I've seen them sell for over $500 on eBay! Should look amazing with your Aussie Nebulon B... sculpting looks sharp. 21 inches is huge! Shame they're out of the SW business.

BTW, DeAgostini/Atlas never did produce a Sentinel-class shuttle for France, did they? They're listing it for release here in N. America, but we think it'll be replaced by the (excellent) Naboo Skiff.

sicqnus
09-14-2010, 05:35 PM
Sorry for the delay.

I bought the Anigrand Liberty for far less than that. Circa $150. That's still expensive. But rare and discontinued. It's on the to do list with the Scale Solutions Aliens "Derelict Ship" resin kit.

And unfortunately no, the Sentinel shuttle was never made (De Agostini / Atlas). It was on listing here as well but was cancelled. Very unfortunate IMHO. But still, lots of cool ones anyway.

Hello All:

I just stopped in at the BBTS and looks like DA isn't stopping at just 60 models after all.

#61: Bespin Cloud City (!)

#62: Naboo Flash Speeder

(sorry if this is old news --it was new to me)

Darth Duranium
09-25-2010, 07:24 PM
News to me, too! Everybody thought they'd stop at #60 so this is a very nice surprise! Thanks for the heads up.

BTW guys, TFAW is selling a lot of older issues for $5.40 each! There are free shipping specials too. Thanks to LeoFett for the heads up.

briar_mackinney
09-26-2010, 11:02 AM
No prob, thought you guys might like to know. Of course now I can't help but wonder what #'s 62-63 will be if they keep going. I haven't been able to find any lists containing the new models. (Banking Clan Frigate? Perhaps maybe even an Ebon Hawk or Raven's Claw?)

And thanks for the heads up on the deals at TFAW (I had forgotten all about that site!). I just started collecting this line (finally) and I'll be able to save a bundle on 'em now.

UPDATE: Man, TFAW's discount % formula is all messed up! Some of them were marked UP from $10 to $14.40 and it still said "save 20%!!" next to them. Still got a nice assortment for $5.40 each, though. Thanks.

Yep dude, this line's like a Zombie Energizer Bunny: :)

Two more ships were listed at BBTS, so that's 4 new ones past Issue #60. I hope our friend Sicqnus can find them in Paris.

Weird that F-Toys and DeAgostini both chose the TIE Crawler as their first EU vehicle. And I can't wait for the Theta shuttle.

Damn, the last dozen or so ships are gonna cost me a fortune... I want almost all of them. I hope I can snipe them cheaply on eBay, like most of the others.

Cool!

I'm extremely pleased that the line's carrying on... kinda weird choices lately, though.

C'mon Naboo Yacht and Acclamator!

briar_mackinney

Yeah, can't say I was overly thrilled about the latest as well. But since the line is continuing I imagine it was inevitable that those two would be issued as De Agostini isn't going down the road of re-paint hell like the titaniums did (or, alas, as F-Toys is seemingly doing).

I'm still extremely hopful for the line, though -- they did enough molds that the titanium series didn't in the first 60 issues and 2 of the latest six were on my top 5 "wanna have" list for any series in or around this scale. Plus the TIE Crawler has me thinking that once they exhaust all the more prominant vehicles from the movies they'll move on to stuff from the Clone Wars toon, various video games, and EU ships as well. The only thing so far that really bugs me is that I can't find any info on how many more they're planning on doing or if the line will be open-ended for the forseeable future.

Agreed Briar, there's quite a few I want between 51 and 66 too.... it's gonna get expensive.

That is the million dollar question: how many more? We've never been in suspense before. Maybe Sicqnus' will chime in... he has better sources than anyone else I've talked to about this line. Also might be worth sending DeAgostini an email, for what it's worth.

I'd love to see the movies and EU completely covered before they get into the CW stuff. But LFL calls the shots, apparently.
So many possibilities... how about an E-Wing and an Interdictor, just for starters!

Good news all round :-). I too REALLY want an Acclamator, I'd even pay for a repaint in Clone Wars colours. Actually on that, why don't they do repaints, even for the collector market? The Trade Federation Battleship (Ep1 and Clone Wars) and the Republic Attack Cruiser (Republic and Imperial) would be excellent choices.

Hi Guys. Thanks for the heads up. No news as of yet here in Paris but I will try to find out the availability of the new ones and if possible the production list.

Looking through the list of deagostini's, I was searching eBay when I found that the numbers on sicqnus' list don't match up with the actual issue numbers. This is most likely due to a change in order for the english-speaking world as opposed to France. Thus, I've created my own list for the order of ships and vehicles in Canada, Australia, UK, US etc. I find it can often be easier to search eBay using the number rather than the title. Therefore, here we go with the updated list:

01. Millenium Falcon
02. X-wing
03. TIE Fighter & Jedi Starfighter (Ep3)
04. AT-AT
05. Imperial Star Destroyer
06. Jabba the Hutt’s Sail Barge
07. A-wing
08. Darth Vaders TIE Advanced
09. Death Star II

11. Imperial Speeder Bike
12. Y-wing
13. TIE Bomber
14. B-wing
15. TIE Interceptor
16. Naboo N-1 Starfighter
17. Sith Infiltrator
18. Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Jedi Starfighter (Ep2)
19. Slave 1

23. STAP
24. Cloud Car
25. AT-TE
26. Jawa Sandcrawler
27. Grevious Wheelbike

61. Cloud City
62. Naboo Flash Speeder
63. Imperial Theta-class Shuttle (Ep3)
64. Imperial TIE Crawler
65. Trade Federation MTT

Interestingly, the Death Star I doesn't appear on the list. I hope It'll be released outside of Europe!

Awesome, Sicqnus! I'd love to see a production list. The suspense is killing me. :)

DW, I think #59 is actually gonna be the Star Skiff, if history repeats itself and the magazine cover's correct.

Can't wait! A metal TIE Def will be especially cool. E-Wing's gotta happen.
I'd imagine we'll also see the cancelled French ships (Anakin's Ep II speeder, Sentinel shuttle, Sebulba's Pod Racer) before too long.

I just snagged a DA Tank Droid for $6.19 (including shipping from Europe) so I'm a happy shopper. eBay rocks when there's no other bids.

BTW guys, the seller justprogs has a bunch of $4-$6 DA ships on eBay.. I just grabbed 3 from him recently.
I'm now up to 39 ships... catching up to Sicqnus! :)

Thanks for the drilling from all the "Ros'beefs", Sicqnus! I'm sure you'll hear something eventually. ("Stoopid cougar" is apt, BTW. She's a MILF from redneck hell :) )
When I lived in MontrÚal, we called the French kids "Pepsi tabernacs" and everyone would laugh. You'd get a beat-down for "froggies", though. :)

Yes, I'm definately getting excited about the new DA ships as well. When they first came out I already knew what the first 60 were going to be but know it's almost like when the Titaniums were still active. . .now I just can't wait to see what the next "wave" is going to have in it.

I'd love to see an E-wing, too. It looks like they're definately going with some EU ships now and they can't do TIE variants forever, right? (even though there are about a bajillion of them).

It'll be interesting to see the catamaran when it comes out -- when I first saw the listing I thought they were just calling the Wookie Helicopter (probably my least favorite Titanium Mold) by a fancier name, but it's an entirely different ship from what I can tell. Makes me hopeful that they'll do a banking clan frigate as well, since I think both got about the same fraction of a second of screen time during ROTS.

Darth Duranium
12-30-2010, 03:00 PM
Yeah, I don't know why they'd do Wookiee ships when they've omitted the Acclamator and Naboo Yacht which both got loads of screen time. But it's a new tool so I'm all over it... the TS Wookiee Flyer won't be so lonely.

My least favourite TS is probably a toss-up between the Vulture Droid, the Dewback, the Republic Tank, and the Mist Hunter.

briar_mackinney
01-07-2011, 02:00 AM
Well, I found out SOME news on the new molds -- but it is pathetically vague:

http://actionfleetunlimited.com/alternatives/deagostini.html

Basically it says that there were originally 60 molds planned, but in late 2010 DA announced new ships including many EU models (actually, that's pretty much word for word)

So no list yet, but the line should be continuing for a while at least as I'm assumming that the TIE Crawler and Defender don't exactly qualify as the aforementioned "many EU" ships.

I'll try to keep hunting around -- there has to be something out there SOMEPLACE with some concrete details.

Just pre-ordered the TIE defender the theta class shuttle and the imperial landing craft from BBTS. Also thanks to the news bot today I found out about the Tomy republic carrier gunship with the at-te and got one from the UK. It's been an expensive day.

If the TIE defender lives up to expectations, I'll be getting 5 more. (I love that ship.)

Darth Duranium
01-07-2011, 02:56 PM
Yeah Briar, that's my buddy Unreality's (awesome) site. He's in the same boat as us, waiting for news about the upcoming ships, methinks.

Nice score(s), Mtriv.
I like the Tomy LAAT/c a lot. I've got the little AT-TE wired into it so that it's being carried in flight... looks cool. All the Tomys are nicely done, IMO. Their JSFs kick the Titaniums' butt, too.

Oh yeah, the DA TIE Def is must-have!

briar_mackinney
01-08-2011, 12:33 AM
Yes, it is definately an awesome site. The comparison pics were great (and I didn't know Action Fleet had so many SW ships -- jeez. I guess I'm out of the loop on that one)

I wasn't trying to knock your friends site or anything (I feel kind of bad now). Just venting frustration on lack of info.

And these Tomy ships. . . .are they decent? I know about the mini-helmets they did but haven't seem much in the way of their ships.

Darth Duranium
01-08-2011, 06:01 PM
Ah jeez Briar, no need to feel badly... I'm pretty sure Unreality feels the same way about the lack of info. Actually, there were 62 ships in the original "Atlas"/DA set (incl. the double issue TIE/JSF and Death Star I) so the AFU info is not 100% correct anyway. ;) Hehe... now I'm the lightning rod!

I've got a fair number of the Tomy vehicles: the red JSF, Anakin on Lars' swoop, the Falcon, the LAAT/c, and I recently ordered the blue JSF on eBay. Their Slave I's are nice but a little small so I skipped them, and I haven't gotten around to the X-Wing or AT-AT yet. BTW, they're 100% PVC... but I'm a huge fan of Japanese plastic so the absence of metal is fine by me.

They're very well sized for Titanium scale. Here's a few Titanium vs Tomy comparison pics:

Aaarrrggghhh!!!!!! Why, oh why, can't they make the bloody Clone Wars ships? By 'Clone Wars' I mean the 'war', not the TV series. I mean come on, is it so hard to give us an Acclamator/Republic Assault Ship, Munificent, the Confederacy Destroyer, I forget its name right now.

Banking Clan Frigate?

It was in ROTS and in just about every Clone Wars episode too.

The Munificant-class is actually the banking clan frigate (I had to look it up; good to know as that's one of the ships I'm holding my breath for).

Looks like the destroyer is the Recuscant-class light destroyer, maybe?

I'm pretty sure that, as long as the line continues - which I think they will until the end of the year at least, meaning anywhere from 10-20 new ships - that they'll simply HAVE to start really knocking off vehicles from the prequel trilogy. I mean, besides from the first Death Star (which they'll do, simply because it was released in Europe and the mold is already made) I can't think of any original trilogy ships they haven't done yet. And out of the last 10 models they've announced, 1 has been OT, 2 are EU, and 7 are PT ships.

So I'm still pretty hopeful that they'll release the aforementioned ships. I'm also crossing my fingers for a SPHA walker and Lucrehulk-class Core Ship (can't believe Titanium didn't do those two) as well as Dooku's Solar Sailer. I'm assuming that Anakin's Podracer will be released as a given, but I wouldn't mind if they did the rest of the pods from TPM as well just as long as they take the line up to, say, 100 or so total ships.

As for EU ships, if they'll be continuing with those, I think they'll eventually do an E-wing and probably an Outrider.

I'd personaly love to see an Ebon Hawk and Ventress's Fantail Fighter as well.

But, anyways, I did a complete brain fart and spaced out the fact that Brian of Brian's Toys is actually a relative of mine, so I sent an e-mail off to him (and the BBTS customer service) asking for any info on unannouced ships. Hopefully I'll hear something back soon.

Darth Windu
01-22-2011, 09:10 PM
I really hope they don't do all of the podracers, mostly because they just won't sell, which will lead to the demise of the line.

I too hope for an SPHA-T and Core Ship, they'd definately go onto my most wanted list!

Darth Duranium
01-23-2011, 11:29 AM
Briar? Brian? I can see the family resemblance. ;) Good luck with your mission!

Thanks for the update, Briar.
I'm happy about the TF Lander but kinda ambivalent about Pod Racers.
But I would buy all of the vehicles you mentioned, of course!

I guess you could argue that Galoob, Hasbro, WOTC, and DA have all made a Core ship, if you take a hacksaw to them.

The WOTC Munificent rocks... one of my favourites from that line.

briar_mackinney
01-23-2011, 02:21 PM
Yeah, I'm not saying that I'm holding my breath for all the pod racers or anything -- just that I wouldn't mind if they did them. I was happy for the TF Landing Ship, too.

They'd better start getting some of those other PT capital ships out of the way, though, or I might start to think that DA is just being a tease.

Darth Duranium
01-24-2011, 06:37 AM
I would love more capital ships and medium transports. *drool*

Agreed, it always seems that the PT (especially AOTC) gets short-changed in the ship department.
A lot of toymakers got pretty gun-shy after the TPM toy fiasco... maybe it's residual AOTC erectile dysfunction. ;)

Forgot to update you all -- heard back from BBTS customer service and they didn't know what the next ships would be (the lady actually recommended that I check out SW collectors message boards --ha!) And neither did Brian's Toys. Sorry, another dead end.

But on another much more awesome note, it was show-and-tell day at my daughter's 4-k class today -- they were supposed to bring in something that started with the letter "B" and she decided to bring in my old vintage Boba Fett figure. Can't get much more awesome than that!

Arggh -- beat me to the scoop this time. I'm lookin forward to that AT-PT too (the pod is nice, too, but we all knew that was coming eventually). I'm most familiar with it from the Roge Squadron games -- I wonder if this means we can perhaps look forward to getting a World Devastator eventually? Probably not. . . but one can hope.

And yeah, I got the daughter trained pretty good on the Star Wars stuff. She doesn't insist on watching the movies as much as she did when she was younger, but every once and awhile I'll catch her playing with her Barbies (or My Little Ponies, or some other little girl toy) and humming the Imperial March to herself. She'll end up as one of those somewhat rare girl nerds, for sure.

So Friday I got an e-mail from BBTS saying that my theta class shuttle had been added to my pile of loot along with what I thought was an imperial landing craft. I'd gotten an e-mail saying that it had come in in late January. When I logged on to check the order, I was surprised to find out that the imperial landing craft was now a naboo star skiff. Was the landing craft cancelled/replaced with the star skiff? I have an e-mail in to their service department, but I figure you guys will know as much or more about it than they will.

briar_mackinney
03-21-2011, 01:06 PM
weird -- I just checked my orders (I've got the pile o' loot going on at the BBTS as well) and mine looks to still be the theta-class, and it IS still listed as available in the store. Keep us posted on what they say when they get back to you? That shuttle was one I REALY wanted and I'd hate to have it swapped out for something else I didn't actually order.

mtriv73
03-21-2011, 01:50 PM
Sorry, I should have been a little clearer. The theta class shuttle is still there, it's the Imp. landing craft that has mysteriously turned into a naboo star skiff. They offered to cancel that part of the order for me.

Darth Duranium
03-21-2011, 01:50 PM
Mtriv, the Imperial Landing Craft was replaced by the Star Skiff. The same thing happened with the French Atlas line, so I kinda figured the same thing would happen here. Don't know why, and I don't know if we'll see it added back in later.
Skiff's nice, though. I can post pics, if you like.

The Theta-class is indeed shipping and it looks great.

Anybody know what's up with #60 in the DA line (the Executor)?? BBTS has #s 61-64 in stock now but this one is still listed as a pre-order. Weird.

Darth Duranium
04-04-2011, 03:37 PM
Briar, the DA Executor sold out at both BBTS and TFAW but I guess they re-ordered. Right now, TFAW has them in stock again.
Personally, I was quite disappointed at how small it is. Detailing's fine but it would've been so much nicer if it wasn't such a shrimp.

briar_mackinney
04-05-2011, 10:01 PM
Thanks -- the BBTS people are checking to see when it might be back in stock. Otherwise I'll order it from TFAW, I guess. I'm already past the point of no return on this line so I might as well get 'em all.

Darth Duranium
04-06-2011, 10:52 AM
Yeah Briar, it's the Executor! Gotta have it. Understood. :)
I'm not collecting all of them but I'll have 51 by the end of the week, hopefully.
I've been skipping the really big fighters (N-1, TIE X1, A-Wing, V-Wing etc.) and the speederbikes/swoops/STAP.
You're getting the whole set? Are you almost caught up?
Do you collect Titaniums, too?

briar_mackinney
04-06-2011, 01:35 PM
Of course I collected the Titaniums! How do you think I found this message board?

Yeah, I'm probably going to get the whole set. As of now, besides the Executor, I think I've got all that have been release so far either at my home or sitting in my pile of loot at the BBTS. Originally I was just going to get the ships that the Titaniums didn't release, but I ended up finding a bunch of sweet sales (like that one at TFAW you altered us to) and auctions on Ebay so I snagged a good number of them for way below the original sticker price. They do a good job of fulfilling my collecting habit since the Titaniums ended, especially now that they're going in to some of the more obscure ships and vehicles. I've got the first three waves from F-toys as well, and I'll probably get the 4th, but I'll have to see how many re-paints they end up doing after that berfore I decide whether or not I'm going to stick with that line.

Darth Duranium
04-06-2011, 02:24 PM
Oops, my bad... you collect Titanium, too! I'd forgotten. In that case, I wanted to ask for your assistance in a little project I'm helping with. PM sent.

Agreed, if it wasn't for DeAg, there wouldn't be much new product to collect at all!

I've just bought 3 SW F-Toys (ISD, TIE Crawler, and the special Y-Wing) but I've been thinking about grabbing more. They're quite nice, too. Wish they'd do some more oddball ships, rather than just the usual suspects.

briar_mackinney
04-30-2011, 01:05 PM
the next two have been listed at BBTS:

75) Dooku's Solar Sailer (yay! let's hope the sails are out on it)

76) Neimodian Shuttle

Darth Duranium
05-02-2011, 03:49 PM
I was hoping for more cap ships but I'll be happy to add both to my collection.
I like the AF Solar Sailer but a more detailed one from DA would be cool.

Boris from the RS forums has a UK subscription and got a note recently saying that there have been "production problems" which have caused a revised release order, different than we're seeing at US e-tailers:

Revised:
Issue 68 - Trade Federation Landing Ship 8 June
Issue 69 - AT-PT 22 June
Issue 70 - Neimoidian Shuttle 6 July

I'm betting our issue #'s are about to change. If the Wookiee Catamaran and the Pod Racers go, I wouldn't mind at all.

Darth Windu
05-02-2011, 10:02 PM
I'd agree with the podracers - completely uninterested in them. Wouldn't mind the Catamaran, it is afterall one that Titanium never got around to.

mtriv73
09-19-2011, 12:00 PM
So where the heck are the TIE defenders and wookiee catamarans? BBTS was supposed to get them in July but every month they bump up the expected in stock date. It doesn't look like anyone online has them. I was really looking forward to the TIE Defender.

briar_mackinney
09-19-2011, 12:17 PM
There was apparently some major re-arrange of all the last ships being released so the original order as posted isn't how they're being released in reality. The Catamaran hasn't been released yet as far as I can tell, but I don't know what's up with the TIE Defender -- I get mine from the BBTS as well and have my orders held under their "pile of loot" option and have everything shipped out every three to six months. . . according to my account, I've got a TIE defender in my loot over there but I won't have it shipped for another month or two so I can't really verify if that's what it actually is.

mtriv73

Darth Duranium
10-21-2011, 04:44 PM
Nice one, Mtriv. The TIE Def (and AT-PT) seemed to be in short supply.

Yeah, as Briar said, the release order is in total flux. They keep re-arranging the sequence every couple of weeks, it seems. Some retailers sent ships back to Diamond because the sku's didn't match the product released.

Six more DA's and I'm done. How 'bout youze guys?
