Flash to the end of the ESB, Lando an Chewie fly the Falcon into the sunset on mission to save Han. Lando is wearing a Han like outfit that spoke of much more action than the blue suit with the cape.
I bought Lando, cause I thought he was one of those figures that always needed to be made. After opening him up, I'm not so sure.
Check out the rest of my thoughts here:

I agree, could have been alot better, but a decent figure. He gets stuck into a Falconand thats it. Mabe background for a diorama along the lines. The best part of your reveiw was the last pic.

I agree with you engineernerd. I hate those swivel arms.
I don't know if you noticed, but the peg-holes in his feet seem to be a little shallow, as he doesn't stand on a stand quite flush. (always a pet-peeve with Hasbro for me)
All in all though, he's a new Lando at least.

You know since figures quit coming with stands, I don't try 'em on pegs unless they don't stand up. I have some generic ones I picked up before figures started coming with them, I just save them for the ones that really need them to stand or are easily tipped.
I'd guess, as with some of the ones I have tried it with, the foot articulation is the culprit behind this. There's just no where deep enough on the articulated foot for the full peg.
PS. The last pics are always some of my favorites, but this one is probably my most favorite so far.

Though I haven't opened this yet, I know that his feet are the same at the VOTC one; I remember, since these were the first figures to have both ankle articulation and foot pegs together, Hasbro hadn't quite figured out how to combine the two very well. I think some of the newer ones are better, though.

The VOTC Leia didn't even have peg-holes. and niether did the VOTC Boba Fett.
Recently I bought a Legends Boba Fett, and Hasbro put them there, so I replaced my VOTC one with a Legends one that has the peg-holes. I hung the VOTC Boba in my car as my Bounty Hunter mascot, when I go on toy runs. (kinda like a Saint Boba)
These liitle holes are an absolute necessity when you start getting alot of figures close together like I have, so you don't have the domino effect when one falls over. It can turn into a royal mess. Then you have to remember who gets what lightsaber, gun etc. if they fall out of the hands.
The new square Hasbro stands are ok but I like the old clear round ones, as they don't have as big of a footprint.

What would have made this figure nicer was very simple: a separate piece for a removeable vest. No, we wouldn't have displayed him with the vest off, but it looks better - like they made CommTech Cantina Han. They could have used the same vest in fact. It's just Lando's shirt that he wears buttoned up, more formal than Han, because that's his style.
That's it. There's nothing exciting about this figure other than it needed to be made, and there aren't a lot of choices for Lando figures to be done. It was about time for this one - plus we voted for it back in the big 5 movie super-poll.

I have not opened this figure yet, though i always wanted it just because Lando is one of my favorite star wars characters, i was a little dissappointed in the eyes rolling in the back of his head, but other than that i was okay with the standard look of the figure, though when i open it up i may have a different opinion. I'm just glad hasbro tried to at least do this figure, espically with the VOTC Han mold lingering around their factories...decent kit back type of figure. Which is why i was surprised he came single carded.

I just opened two windows in RS's photo archive: VOTC Han and TAC Lando. Now I can compare them side-by-side.
They do not appear at all to be based on the same figure's upper body.
First, that the arm joints are different is obvious.
Next, that Lando's shirt is pinned closed is also obvious.
Now we get to the VEST: Lando's is painted glossy and Han's in opaque. Han's looks much better, either way.
The legs are not the same either. Han has his thigh strap to his gun holster molded on, Lando does not.
Finally, there are subtle differences in the vest sculpt that make me think they are definitely different molds between the two figures. Han's being the more superior.
Oh, Lando's hair is longer, looking more like ROTJ than ESB where the Smuggler Outfit hails from. I am very thankful that Hasbro made this figure, but there is room for improvement. I'd say that down the road, this is the first Lando figure that needs a resculpt before the Skiff Guard or General figures get another (Bespin has way too many as it is, because that's the iconic Lando).

The next Lando to be made should be his outfit from the Ewok victory celebration.

I don't think they are related at all. I think the TAC Lando might be reusing some parts from the VOTC Lando, though. Primarily the lower body and arms.
