Thanks for the birthday wishes, guys! That was a nice surprise.

Wow. A birthday is like your 365th day anniversary or personal new year each and every year.

Well, for me, they are getting stranger every year.

This year Hasbro made me a Star Wars action figure ;) Who'd have thought? Now I know how TheDarthVader feels, well sort of 1/90th of the way he feels.

And yeah, thanks to Michael Bay, the Transformers got to star in a live action movie that I've yearned for since probably 1984. (You can see the robots in between shots of all the humans, and sort of distinguish between them when 2 get in a fight who are at least marginally different colors.)

So while I'm enjoying that, I am staying alive. After 2005, the question of "how many more birthdays will I have?" has always been roaming around in my mind. While none of us know the answer to that question about anyone else (except for whomever you plan to kill), we also can't know that about ourselves.

I still hold on to hopes that:

1) I'll finish and successfully publish my book to great acollades
2) I'll get a big house and display all my toys the way I want to
3) I'll find myself in a great relationship with the best girl for a few good years

Then if I achieve these things, I'll look towards:

1) working on the movie adaptation of my book
2) writing more books and developing a great reputation as an author
3) entering politics
4) creating a Grand Army
5) building my own Death Star
6) taking over the planet earth
7) making the world a better place!

One day it would be awesome if I had enough to fly everyone over for the San Diego Comic Con, and have you all over as my guests for a visit to my displayed collection, like it was Rancho Obi-Wan or something, and just enjoy what we all had as a hobby.

JediMasterSal, I'd request that you stayed the longest and helped me with my own dioramas. I'd do the same for you. In your collection, I'm especially interested in Utopau.

General Grievous, it would be the height of all humor around here if you actually found a cake that was shaped like Michael Bay's head! LOL

Hey thanks guys. My birthday was depressing. I thought everyone had forgotten.

I'm getting the belated birthday wishes now - but it feels good to be remembered.

I spent my birthday on dialysis after a emergency surgery to replace the catheter in my heart. Yeah: I'm wondering if I WILL have another birthday.

Anyway, I spent my birthday alone basically. It was reflective.

Sunday I got out with a friend and saw Quantum of Solace. It was awesome! I'm in a James Bond phase.

I didn't get a cake or even have anyone around to celebrate my birthday with.

It was just as well. But the day after I went to the James Bond movie with my friend and he treated me to lunch.

I also got some late cards and presents finally - and a few more forum posts.

But I wasn't expecting much.

Thanks everyone.

Yes it amazes me that I saw another birthday. Thanks to BobaFrett here, I'm around to make this post.

I went to the shooting range with my friend Yvonne yesterday and I fired a .9mm semi-auto and a Smith & Weston 6-shooter (it goes with my novel I've been writing). Curiously, I was a much better shot with the S&W - maybe because I had less bullets to spare. But for sure, that old-style gun had a much stronger recoil than a modern "piece of convenience." I'm not sure we can post videos on SSG or if I want to bother opening a YouTube account. But I'll link to it later if I get my videos up there. I think I have still shots of me and my target hits though.

Anyway, afterward, we went to Joe's Crab Shack for dinner and I got my steak and shrimp, plus an awesome chocolate desert!

Then we watched Gran Torrino with Clint Eastwood on pay-per-view. [Clint Eastwood was starring in the movie, but he didn't actually come to my birthday party, although I didn't think to invite him. He might have enjoyed the shooting.]

Here's some pictures from yesterday at the shooting range.

I have multiple videos but I don't think I can get them directly up on SSG.

Thus far, I've resisted starting a YouTube account or something.

All the videos I could post are just of me hitting baseballs or firing weapons.

Michelle and I went to the theater and caught "Deathtrap" on Sunday, for my birthday and hers. Then we watched zombie movies!

My friend Nicole is taking me out to eat today.

So it's not all that bad. But on my actual birth day - I was alone this year.

No biggie. But thank you all for the thoughts!

JediTricks
12-07-2010, 05:02 PM
What's Deathtrap?

Tycho
12-08-2010, 11:45 AM
It's a live theatrical play. A friend I served with on the local city planning board is a sponsor, manager, and actor in many productions.

This play is about a WRITER  who after being a guest-speaker at a conference, meets a young "apprentice" writer who wants his help polishing up an unproduced (and never seen before) play.

The older writer scares his wife that he plans to KILL the younger writer and steal his work so he can bring himself back into success.

When efforts to get rid of his wife fail, she witnesses the murder.

Then, after the victim is burried in their backyard, she dies of a heart attack when the bloodied dead writer digs himself out of his grave (like a vengeful zombie) - only the younger writer's death had been totally faked!

It was a plot to cause the wife to die of a heart attack so that the older writer would inherit her estate and the two scribes could become partners on the new play.

Only their trust breaks down in the face of the police investigation and the interference by a vodoo/pyshic lady (who was just hilarious) and there are a few more good twists and turns in the plot that you won't see coming.

I probably spoiled too much of the story already by revealing that the younger writer's death was only staged. It looks very convincing when performed.

In any case, this whole plot leads to multiple homicides and plenty of action though it got off to a very slow start so the audience gets convinced, in a long drawn-out dialogue with just the older writer and his wife, that he IS capable of murder for a good story.

It was very ironic that I am a writer and this play spoke so much to me.

In the gunfighting and civil war re-enactments I do to promote my own novel, I kill a lot of people and post the pictures and video of all the action on my webpage. (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Joshua-Adam-Weiselberg-The-Author/117114551640217)

It was a nice surprise from BobaFrett and jonthejedi, as I certainly wasn't expecting your birthday wishes now.

Yes Barry, we did have a great time visiting on the phone. How is the Cubs' lineup doing now? It looks like the Padres have completed their trading before Spring Training (I think). I've put the lineup into my Nintendo and I crushed Seattle, sweeping the Mariners! I play Texas next as I'm on Interleague in my team's schedule.

So maybe next time we'll have a "serious" baseball conversation. Meanwhile, Go Bears! They've earned this one.

I have tomorrow off, and I intend on watching the Bears play. After they beat the Packers, I'm going to call my brother up and rub it in!
