Please post your VOTE for up to 6 {six} of the questions provided in this thread, letting us know which ones you most want to see asked in January 25th, 2008. Keep in mind that your votes in round 42 do not count in this round, so if your question is still on the list you may want to vote for it again.

Also, feel free to post new questions. For reference, here are Hasbro's answers to previous SSG questions (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/index.php?categoryid=13&p2_articleid=716); to ActionFigs.com's questions (http://www.actionfigs.com/index.php?categoryid=12&p2_articleid=1384); and from other sites (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/index.php?categoryid=13&p2_articleid=510). The questions we asked last round can be found here (http://forums.sirstevesguide.com/showthread.php?p=586308#post586308).

Current questions (vote for up to 6):

- Canadian collectors miss out on a many of the US-only store exclusives. Any chance Canadians could have every exclusive figure/vehicle/combination made available on shop.starwars.com after their shelf runs in the US stores?
- In recent years, many Darth Vader figures have included a silver piece of fabric material around the neck to represent the chain that holds Vader's cape on. However, every time this feature has been included, the "chain" ends up looking too big and out-of-place, while Vader figures that do not include this chain end up looking much better. In the interest of accuracy, could the chain either be scaled down (to better match its look in Episodes III, V, and VI), or done as sculpted plastic (as on earlier incarnations), or simply left off (as in Episode IV) on future Darth Vader figures?
- The Snowspeeder has only been an exclusive item in the past two releases for it where prior releases were regular mass-retail. Why the exclusivity and accompanying higher pricepoint on this vehicle? If it's due to its somewhat large size compared to other vehicles, could it be scaled down to accurate proportions (since it is actually a little too large as-is) and released in the $20 line?
- Are there folks today at Hasbro who were working on the Star Wars line back when it was reborn in 1995? Was there any clue behind-the-scenes back then that the Star Wars toy line would garner such a huge adult collector following? Were adult collectors considered at all on any level back then when forging the line's beginnings? What do you folks think of the extensive adult collector enthusiasm for the line today, 12 years later?
- Twice during the prequels, a vehicle toy's MSRP was dropped significantly without any changes to its mold - the first being the Episode I Naboo Royal Starship which went from $100 to $50, and the second being the Republic Gunship which in the Saga line was $40 but subsequent releases were $30. What were the causes of these price drops? Why hasn't this happened with other vehicles in similar high pricepoints?
- With there being so much competition in regards to high end collecting with other licensees, has Hasbro considered perhaps making the figures' accessories out of metal like the already established saber hilts from the 2002 Saga line? (This was even recently used again with the reissued Sith Training Darth Maul from the end of the TSC line.) They could also do it this time with blasters and other non-lightsaber accessories as well.
- The new Clone Trooper and Rebel Trooper role-play blasters are pretty cool and seem to be selling fairly well out of the gate. With that in mind, will Hasbro be offering more role-play weapons such as all-new sculpts of Han's blaster, the Stormtrooper blaster (with more accurate size and folded stock under the barrel), Biker Scout pistol, and perhaps even larger ones like the Hoth Rebel rifle and Clone Trooper long rifle?
- What are the requirements that a retailer must go meet to get a Star Wars exclusive, do they have to be a certain size company, make a certain number of Hasbro orders a month, etc.? Is there some sort of process that a retailer has to go through to get an exclusive, do they work with Hasbro on what item to produce or is it out of their hands?
- Many collectors have noted that Moff Jerjerrod was not a great seller and can still be found in stores, while it seemed as though Admiral Ozzel, Captain Piett, and Grand Moff Tarkin seemed to have sold better. There are times where Hasbro really nails a likeness, but unfortunately Moff Jerjerrod did not look like the actor and had an angry facial expression not seen in Return of the Jedi. Would Hasbro ever consider resculpting this figure or does the perceived poor performance of the Jerjerrod figure make it unlikely he would ever be revisited. Do you agree that if this figure sold poorly it may have been in part because of a poor likeness?
- Would Hasbro consider releasing a complete set of clone troopers with only a basic, plain white deco? Many customizers would enjoy having a blank clone to decorate with their own designs, and regular fans could enjoy the uniform look - the white AT-RT Driver from the Ep 3 Commemorative Tin set looks great and is easy to customize. So how about a box set with all the various clone types without specialized deco or even weathering? It could even be offered in simpler packaging, white mailer boxes with simple baggies.
- The idea of having 2 Battle Droids on a single basic card is a good one, as it lets fans build up armies quickly and cheaply. However, the Saga Legends Battle Droid 2packs feature very distinct-looking droids - the first set has a Commander, and the others all have battle damage - resulting in droids not suited for army-building due to identical markings. Will future versions of this 2pack be released in "clean" versions for more army-building potential? In the same vein, will this set ever be retooled to allow the droids to hold the blaster with both hands as the movies consistently showed them, and a few previous figures emulated?
- In the Galactic Heroes line we have just gotten an AT-AT Commander and Driver figures. Might that increase chances of getting a Galactic Heroes AT-AT?
- Why are nearly all of the Galactic Heroes figures smiling, even bad guys like Tarkin and the AT-AT Commander?
- With the awesome VOTC Boba Fett figure released in the Saga Legends line, might we get an ESB-themed repaint with the green gauntlets, darker jumpsuit, brown cape, and green rocketpack?
- Is Hasbro considering continuing the Galactic Heroes line with more figures from Jabba's Palace (like Tessek, J'quille, Oola, the band etc.) and the Mos Eisley Cantina (like Elis Helrot, Kitik Keed'kak, Muftak etc.)? Also, bounty hunters Aurra Sing and Zam Wesell would be round out the bounty hunter set nicely.
- Since Hasbro is showing some interest in SW: Battlefront, releasing the multipacks and the Rebel Vanguard figure, will the rocket launcher from the Battlefront II Clone pack be included if a blue ARC Trooper is ever released on single card again? (It's the weapon he carries in the first Battlefront game.)
- Will you ever release any Neimoidians & Separatist Leaders in the Galactic Heroes line?
- Will you please shed some light on rumored vehicles for next year? The rumored Homing Spider Droid and V-19 Torrent (clone starfighter), and any new developments in the AT-TE department, what about those?
- Do you have any plans to release the V-Wing Fighter in Imperial colors as seen at the end of ROTS?
- Seeing Titanium Series 2008 wave 1, will Hasbro correct the paint application on the Saesee Tiin Jedi Starfighter? The photo shows the incorrect 6-spoke Imperial logo instead of the proper era-specific 8-spoke Republic logo which is found on the other versions of this vehicle released so far, Obi-Wan's and Kit Fisto's.
- Often with the basic figure line, Canada does not get the final wave or 2 of any given series. Is there any truth to the rumors that the last 4 TAC waves won't be available in Canada - waves 6, 7, 8, and 7.5?
- Although Hasbro has stated that plants aren't high on the potential accessory list, Hasbro's also shown interest in completeing the cantina scene. With that in mind and the increased focus on producing figures of concept art, has there been any consideration of doing a figure of the plantlike Revwien alien developed for the cantina scene, maybe as an accessory or pack-in figure due to its unique design? Would he/she/it be given a proper name?
- We understand the need for exclusives, but isn't it too much when 1 store has multiple exclusives all at once? Target having the 2 Ultra Battle Packs, 2 vehicles (TIE Bomber and ARC-170), a regular Battle Pack, the AT-RT 2-pack, and 2 Galactic Heroes battle packs all coming out in roughly a 30 day period - and that's just 1 of the 3 major retailers with exclusives! What happened here? Plus, with all these exclusives coming out at once on top of regular new product, it makes getting them even more difficult, is there any chance we'll be seeing production continue on the harder-to-come-by stuff such as the Target- and TRU-exclusive Galactic Heroes battle packs? Could next time, you get them to space out their exclusives' releases a little better please?
- Would Hasbro ever consider releasing figures based off artist Feng Zhu's Imperial Recruitment posters which appeared in the Star Wars: Visionaires comic series, perhaps as Comic 2-Packs? There's 2 designs in the official series, and 4 more posters (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Imperial_Recruitment) drawn but not released. Besides the sexy female recruits in the posters, the SW: Visionaries comic has other great characters like cyborg Darth Maul, Darth Sidious and the Sithisis Worm, Corporal Jobin just to name a few that would make great action figures, especially coming off the heels of the TAC concept figures since the comic was done by ROTS concept artists.
- Since Hasbro has just stated that it is unlikely that RA-7, Oola, BoShek and Takeel will ever be updated, is it likely that they will be re-released in the forseeable future with new/better paint jobs? And how about doing an Original trilogy version of Sy Snootles with the puppet's smaller eyes, perhaps even with the tusks and the feather hat and microphone - how likely is that?
- Hasbro mentioned recently that some of the later 2007 waves would be carried over into '08 swapping their coin pack-ins for the stands, particularly wave 7.5 and 8. Some collectors haven't been able to complete their coin albums because of lack of availability of these last 2 waves, are there any plans to get more of these coin waves out to retail to ensure more folks can complete their coin albums before the switch over to stands?
- A few times in Q&A's history, you've suggested collectors submit their local stores' pegwarming data to you so Hasbro store reps can get these problems fixed. Some of the stores did show signs of improvement in this department, however others still suffer old TSC pegwarmers (Moff Jerjerrod is pretty consistent) and show absolutely no signs of moving, and the reports on these were coming in from all over the country. What if anything was done to fix the problem, and what will be done in the future? If nothing else, having several Hasbro Star Wars pegs filled up with very old product is going to hamper sales of newer product hurting your business and hindering collectors' ability to get new figures.
- What are the chances of seeing an Evolutions set of the Seperatists' droids, consisting of updated, all-new versions of the Battle Droid, Super Battle Droid, and IG-100 MagnaGuard (aka Grievous' Bodyguard)?
- The current R5 droid mold (used on R5-D4, R5-J2, and R5-F7) is close to "perfect", but there are a few glaring issues that should be addressed before this mold becomes the all-purpose version. They include the antenna, which comes out and may be lost easily; the pop-up motivator, which worked on R5-D4 but had diminishing returns on later uses; and the chest plate being a separate piece, which has been a problem on every figure to use the VOTC R2-D2 body. The head could just be retooled and used on the more-accurate R4-G9 body. Will these issues be addressed, or will we continue to get more less-than-perfect R5 figures?
- Now that we're getting an ROTS-specific 2-1B droid, is there any chance we'll be seeing an updated ESB-specific version in the near future? There are many differences between the two designs, both large and small, including head, torso, arms and legs - which is pretty much everything - so the ROTS one wouldn't really fit in an ESB scene. 2-1B is one of the rare OT non-hero droids to actually have lines, and is quite memorable, so an update would be much appreciated.
- With photos confirming Tsui Choi from the Order 66 2packs now out there, are we likely to see Ratts Tyrell - another member of the same species - in 2008? Could we see 1-2 Podracer figures per year the way we're now seeing Ewoks?
- It looks like The Force Unleashed video game has been pushed back again, from April to late August. Will this affect your plans for the release of products in any way? Granted some of the toys are on shelves already and it wouldn't be a surprise to hear the initial 3.75" figures are already shipping from Asia so they could be on shelves in time for the previous spring release. But will the bulk of the product be held back so it ships simultaneously with the game? Will early product be re-released to coincide with the game?
- On a recent CNN segment featuring new Hasbro products for 2008, there was a small glimpse of the AT-TE. With this small tease, a lot of collectors are quite excited and hunger for more info. Now that the cat's been let out of the bag, might you give us some more details on the set, perhaps give collectors a full image? (Voters beware, Hasbro may simply say "no comment" to this until after Toy Fair in mid-February.)
- Concerning pegwarms and Saga Legends taking up TAC shelfspace, back on Sept 28th you told us "stores will be resupplied based on what has sold down, not based on what is sitting on what pegs, which is invisible to the automated ordering systems. So if Saga Legends is selling in those stores, it will be reordered. If 30th Anniv. is selling, it will be reordered. To finish that discussion - the stock of one has no impact on the other." Understanding that you have the 2 separate SKUs and assortment numbers in place to avoid these problems, what your argument seems to miss is the rampant amount of human error in the process, pegging Saga Legends on TAC pegs (whether done by store employees, or customers who simply don't notice the difference between the red accents vs orange accents of the basic cards), so in your argument, if Saga Legends takes up all the pegspace, TAC can never sell down and be reordered because it never leaves the back rooms to hit the pegs in the first place. Keep in mind, the TAC & SL cards are pretty much visually identical, and the assortment numbers which are supposed to separate them don't stand out on packaging and at a quick glance appear the same (87500 vs 85770) especially for an overworked, underpaid retail employee who is trying to get too many things done at once. So how can sales be generated for a specific product if it doesn't reach the floor in the first place?Vote now, and suggest new questions too. Thanks for participating!

I can't believe the Neyo question got asked last time - there are only two clones like that in the film, both of which have identical armor seeing as how they're based on the same digital character. It seems like a wasted question, but whatever.

2, 11, 19, 23, more later, I guess.

Can we ask them about HTS selling AFA graded collectibles?

"What considerations were made by Hasbro before making the decision to sell Action Figure Authority graded collectibles through the Hasbro Toy Shop channel? Many collectors are feeling outraged over this, while others see it as a natural and welcome expansion of the business model. Could you please provide some insight into the rationale behind a decision that has inspired some very passionate debate, including some collectors vowing to never buy from Hasbro again?"

New Question:

Would Hasbro ever consider releasing comic packs based off the art of Feng Zhu which appeared in the Star Wars: Visionaries Comic Series? The Imperial Recruitment comic featuring female recruits are some of the best looking character concepts ever seen, and with these female Tie Fighter Pilots, Biker Scouts, Storm troopers, and animal wranglers customizers, and army builders could get great diversity in their armies. Other great characters like Darth Maul as a cyborg, Darth Sidious and his Sith Worm, Corporal Jobin just to name a few that appeared in this comic would make great action figures, especially off the heels of the Concept figures featured in the Thirtieth Anniversary Collection.

Hasbro HAS confirmed that waves 6, 7, 7.5, and 8 will be coming out on CAD cards in Canada in the new year!!!! (on Sandtroopers)

I'm SO happy now.

So, you don't need to ask question 21!

new question: In the answers to the 12/21 Q&A, someone asked about Obi-Wan and a tractor beam console accessory in the basic line, to which you replied something like "it is not a possibility in the basic line." However, you already have the makings of a great ultimate battle pack if you put 2 of the 25th anniversary doorways (that had Luke & Leia in the chasm swing), create the complete tractor beam console, and then add the best Luke w/stormtrooper belt, Leia, Obi-Wan, and a few stormtroopers. Would something like this be a possiblity and something Hasbro would be interested in creating?

I'll list my votes for other questions later

Sorry I haven't gotten around to dealing with new business here, between the holiday and some family issues, I've been falling behind, but I will be doing cleanup and vote-refunds on any/all of those after Christmas.

My votes so far:

2: In recent years, many Darth Vader figures have included a silver piece of fabric material around the neck to represent the chain that holds Vader's cape on.

3: The Snowspeeder has only been an exclusive item in the past two releases for it where prior releases were regular mass-retail. Why the exclusivity and accompanying higher pricepoint on this vehicle? If it's due to its somewhat large size compared to other vehicles, could it be scaled down to accurate proportions (since it is actually a little too large as-is) and released in the $20 line?

12: In the Galactic Heroes line we have just gotten an AT-AT Commander and Driver figures. Might that increase chances of getting a Galactic Heroes AT-AT?

Also, bounty hunters Aurra Sing and Zam Wesell would be round out the bounty hunter set nicely.

and if my other question gets added, here's a re-edit, which I guess the other one was past a time limit or something and I couldn't edit my other post:

In the answers to the 12/21 Q&A, someone at JediTempleArchives.com asked about ANH Obi-Wan Kenobi with the Death Star tractor beam control station accessory in the basic line, to which you replied "There is no chance that that would happen in a basic figure line because of the sheer size of the piece." However, you already have the makings of a great ultimate battle pack if you put 2 of the 25th anniversary doorways (that had Luke & Leia in the chasm swing), create the complete tractor beam console, and then add the best Luke w/stormtrooper belt, Leia, Obi-Wan, and a few stormtroopers. Coupled with a good background photo of the chasm walls, it could look awesome in the package. Would something like this be a possiblity for the Ultimate Battle Pack and something Hasbro would be interested in creating?

Important New Question To Improve Distribution

The background to frame the question: might be edited as JT deems appropriate -

Theoretically, I think the Saga Legends line should have been perfect to carry out Hasbro's attempt to keep the core characters out for newbies and kids. Like a Spider-Man line keeping an actual figure of Spider-Man available, Star Wars should usually have:

1) Han
2) Luke
3) Leia
4) Chewie
5) Vader
6) C-3PO
7) R2-D2
8) Lando
9) Boba Fett
10) Palpatine (OT or PT)
11) Yoda (OT or PT)
12) white armor (OT Storm or PT Clone)
13) Obi-Wan (OT, definitely PT)
14) Anakin
15) Padme
16) Sith (Maul or Dooku)
17) Separatist Droid (Battle, Destroyer, Super)
18) Jango Fett
19) General Grievouos

That could be 24 characters if you offer every major type of white armor from each era and 1 of each main Separatist Droid.

24 characters = 2 cases of 12 figures each.

If a store's auto-re-order is triggered by the number of skus registered to a SL case made up of characters above being depeleted, then the re-order could be done by computer. It doesn't matter what the sticker on the end of the peg says if an employee scans it with a handheld. The best thing is that would not be the way the employee can re-order. It would all be automatic.

Thus if TAC sold off the same pegs, the inventory depleted should register as TAC not SL, and TAC should be auto-re-ordered.

Again THEORETICALLY it should have worked. An employee at Wal-Mart told me where they thought it failed:

The warehouse / distribution hubs get in these cases that all look alike. The guys that make stock pallets for the trucks to leave the distribution hub don't have time to note the difference between a 12-figure box of SL or TAC. When the truck leaves the distribution hub headed for individual stores, each is lucky if they get what they can use.

This would suggest Hasbro could continue with their distribution plan, only alter the look of the SL cases on the outside, or change the entire figure packaging (to tubes similar to the smallest titanium ships?) so that SL is clearly a different product even if a similar 3 3/4" figure is what's actually inside the packaging. I'd say that then the problem's solved.

THE ACTUAL QUESTION which must be asked:

Could Hasbro offer something like Saga Legends in a distinguishably different package and shipping case variation and this way keep the 3 3/4" core group available, while opening up more slots for collector figures in the basic line? Why is Hasbro not doing a Saga Legends type line in 2008 anyway? Wasn't it a great success?

I'll list my votes for other questions laterI don't think they'd go for it, they want to do "battle" action scenes, and unfortunately the part with Obi-Wan is pretty much all non-action. Plus, the doorway you mentioned is actually cardboard, that POTJ 2pack only came with a floor piece, not much to build a set with.

I saw RA-7 mentioned specifically, but not the others. Also, I am looking at a pic of puppety Sy and not seeing tusks, can you get me confirmation on that?

Wasn't it a great success?"The cases look alike" is utterly the stupidest thing they've ever told you at WM, that's ridiculous, the cases are numbered and barcoded so they break down the cases based on what's written, not what they look like (they're all purple and black and say "Hasbro Boys Toys", by his argument that means anything Star Wars could be mistaken for anything Spider-man). Also, your thinking doesn't really cover popular costumes like Luke ANH, pilot, Bespin, and Jedi; or Leia ANH, Hoth, Bespin, and Jabba's Palace; etc.. And they've already said no to packaging that looks different from the main line for Saga Legends.

New question,

What are the chances of us getting a General Grievous voice changer?Based on the slow sales of the Vader one, and the fact that all their voice changers are based on main characters, I don't really want to add this.

A clone trooper one is rumored, and Grievous isn't a main character?

JediTricks

You're arguing Grievous *is* a main character? He's in just 1 movie, and he's not in it for all that long. I'm just not seeing it. And the voice changing part's gonna be EXACTLY the same module that's in the Optimus and Vader helmets, except with different prerecorded lines - and consider what those lines will be, it's not like he even said that much, mostly he coughed and spit a few lines that didn't stick particularly well.

They were asked about on other sites Q&A's this past week I believe. I figured you kept track of all that. Also, look closer at Sy's puppet. The tusks are just beneath her long lip trunk thingy and theres actually another wider mouth down there. Read up on the Pa'Lowick species and you'll see what the EU's explanation is. I would really like to see a Vintage style Sy done someday.

I saw an answer on the other site, it said:

4-inches.de:In the q&a-session from 12-01-06 Hasbro made clear that POTF2-figures won't be recycled for the T30AC- or following lines because with the enhanced production methods these figures are antiquated by now. Why does Hasbro then still re-releasing POTF2-figures furthermore like it happens with the Max Rebo Band as repack or the RA-7? And a possible release of an Oola figure recently has been noted as a likely repack of the POTF2-version. Why don't you go any further and only use repacks for the more modern figures while use new molds for re-releases of "older" figures? (Daniel)
Hasbro: Daniel - we are staying true as far as characters that will be updated with a new sculpt. There are certain figures, specifically very fan-centric figures like many aliens, that we simply will not be updating with new sculpts any time in the next several years, if ever. There are simply waaay too many interesting and new figures to create before we would go back and redo these. In many cases, these figures (such as the Jabba's palace figures) are still quality figures in terms of aesthetics, even though they may not be highly articulated like many modern figures, and there are many new collectors to Star Wars who are interested in adding them to their collections. In these cases, we evaluate the continuing demand of the figures and see whether a re-release makes sense. Since we are not going to be redoing any of the Jabba's palace figures in those sets and doing new ones like Ak-Rev instead, a re-release made sense. As to RA-7, you may not know that it and other figures were determined directly by fan vote for inclusion in the Saga Legends line. We let fans select these, and they determined it was important to bring these back, and we agree it is a good idea since we will not be updating him.

As for Sy, I'm not seeing it here:

I'd go look in the SW Chronicles, but I'm running out of steam.

I posted two comparison shots of puppet Sy. The second I have her tusks circled and her second mouth has a crudely drawn arrow pointing to it. I can't believe you couldn't see that.

Also the other site that asked about Takeel, BoShek (and also Evazan, Ree-Yees, Tessek and Orrimaarko) being updated I believe was a newly participating site and Rebelscum had them in their round up report. Currently as I type this it seems Rebelscum has some server problems so I can't check which site it was. Hasbro's answer was somewhere along the lines of "3 of the six you mention are on tap for an update in the forseeable future. But it is unlikely Takeel of BoShek will ever be updated because we nailed them already."

Maybe you can edit it to where it sounds good JT, but here's a question:
You mentioned in the last Q&A that some of this years TAC Waves would be carried over into 2008 with stand pack-ins instead of coins. Particularly some of Wave 7.5 and Wave 8.
Some of us collectors haven't been able to complete our Coin Albums because of the lack of availability of these last two waves. Are there any plans to put more of these out to retail with their coins so we can complete our Coin Albums before the switch-over to stands?

Not sure if something similar has been asked, and I'm sure JT could flesh it out better, but:

In a Q&A session from several months ago, you asked collectors to submit data on their local stores and their respective pegwarmers. However, some TSC figures (Moff Jerjerrod in particular) are still pegwarming hard and showing absolutely no signs of moving, and the data showed that this was indeed happening on a national level (contrary to what you have constantly stated). What, if anything, was done to fix this problem? What will be done in the future? At the very least, having several pegs' worth of old product on shelves has got to be hurting your business and your ability to get new product on the shelves.

The current R5 droid mold (used on R5-D4, R5-J2, and R5-F7) is pretty good and very close to "perfect," but there are a few glaring issues that should be addressed before this mold becomes the all-purpose one. They include the antenna, which comes out and may be lost easily; the pop-up motivator, which worked on R5-D4 but not the others and caused the weird permanently up one seen on the recent Y-wing; and the chest plate, which has been a problem on every figure to use the VOTC R2-D2 body. The head could just be retooled and used on the more-accurate R4-G9 body. Will these issues be addressed, or will we continue to get more less-than-perfect R5 figures?

What I was getting at with the Y-wing part was how the motivator is permanently stuck in the "up" position (http://www.rebelscum.com/photo.asp?image=/TAC/TACywingdroidfr.jpg) and won't come out or go down, making it look stupid and inaccurate.

RS isn't actually answering for me right now, but I think you mean the one dedicated into the ship, not on the figure itself. I do catch your drift there, but it doesn't seem so common a usage that it'd come up again and help warrant the cost of the remold.

Now that for Wave 1 2008 we're getting a ROTS 2-1b and a Tri-droid, any chance we will see in the near future an ESB specific 2-1B (utilizing the POTF2 body design) or the Octuptarra Droid?

There was a snafu with the submission on my end, I'm waiting to hear back to see if we made it or not, so for right now, I'm leaving this open in case they didn't make it.

The octuptara droid accuracy question was asked by ActionFigs on Sept 14th:

At Comic-Con, you showed off '08 basic wave 1 and in it was the Octuptarra Droid. However, what was shown actually had the details of the much larger Tri-Droid - another ROTS droid that was an upsized, remodeled version of the smaller Octuptarra Droid - so the feet, guns, and eyes on what you showed are from the wrong design. Will these details be corrected so that it truly is the Octuptarra Droid?
We found out about the differences in the two after we were already down the path. So the figure will be coming out as shown. We couldn't really do it any bigger than we are doing now anyway, at least on a basic figure card, so until we have the opportunity to do a larger one, fans will hopefully appreciate the coolness of this one.

Rewrite the 2-1B part to be more of its own question and I'll be glad to add it.

I really don't want to "stir the pot", but some of these questions aren't that good in my opinion. A while back I submitted a question for consideration: Is there any chance we could see a multi vehicle pack such as Wedge's and Biggs' X-wings fighters? If more had voted for this, Hasbro would have responded, "We are currently working on something similar...stay tuned!" And we might have found out about the Target Hoth and Endor sets or at least had fun guessing what it could have been. When I saw that I was the only one that voted for it, I was disappointed. C'mon voters! Lets vote for questions that may actually shed some light on future items or those questions that are greatly insightful. IMO, those are the best questions. And I don't mean to be crass so I apologize to those offended in advance. You guys have fun voting, but I still think other sites ask better questions.

Since pics of Tsui Choi from the Target Order 66 pack have leaked online, are we likely to see Ratts Tyrell or other members of this species in 2008?

Thank you for increasing the size of our Ewok armies. Can you please step up production of Podracers to more or less equal the Ewok average of 1-2 per year? (If nothing else, cut out a few made-up Clonetroopers that no one seems to want anymore.)

Here's another question:

There were a LOT of exclussives this holiday season. I am definitely not complaining about the amount or that one store seemed to have more than others. However, it left many collectors unable to buy everything they wanted and now that there is some cash flow again, many are not to be found for under double the original cost on ebay. I know Target has already blown out both Ultimate Battle Packs (which I was fortunate enough to get), but I can't find the Target Galactic Heroes scene for Jabba's palace, the Death Star Attack or the TRU Galactic Heroes Battle of Naboo. I've search forums and ebay and see people paying way over market price for these, so the desire is there. Is there any chance these might see production again?

Or do you mean the Ultimate Battle Packs that ONLY we got a response to before the release date because we properly formatted the question in hypothetical terms?

The answer you think you would have gotten would have told us next to nothing and have been disappointing when we found out that multipack was another AT-ST/speederbike combo rather than your hopes and dreams. A multipack of vehicles is contrary to their business model, they can barely sell a single X-wing by itself, how are they going to sell 2 or 3 at a time in a single box? This is what I've been arguing all along, the answer is basically already out there if you follow what they've said in the past about similar issues. I don't think there's a site out there that has asked as many questions about vehicles as we have, but this is a limited resource, we have only a handful of answers per month now. I do appreciate your participation, but sometimes as editor I've got to make some hard choices to best serve the group as a whole.

Boy, am I glad I pointed out I still had a question, because I'm dying for an answer to this one.

It's been recently confirmed that Hasbro will be making the Cloverfield Monster. This item will be a (roughly) $100 piece geared toward collectors, exclusive to hasbrotoyshop.com, will ship about nine months after the movie, and is based on an unproven film property that few, if any, kids will be watching.

Why is it, then, that we, the large, existing collector base for Star Wars toys, are constantly told by Hasbro that large items like Sail Barges and Sandcrawlers, and especially beasts such as Colo Claw Fish, Orrays, even Goraxes and Blurrrgs--all of which have been specifically requested many times--are "unlikely" to ever be produced (that is, when you don't come right out and tell us that they'll never be made)?

JT, can I add that, if this question makes this list, please don't make it more civil. Preface it by saying it was asked by a forum member, or whatever is necessary. I tried to make it as polite and yet pointed as possible, because they have a tendency to dodge the hard questions.

I'd really, really like to know what their reasoning is here. It sounds like horrible business sense and/or total disregard for their customers, and I'd like to hear their explanation (hopefully a third option) directly from Hasbro.

I'd vote for the Cloverfiled question, but rather than "Sail Barges and Sandcrawlers, and especially beasts such as Colo Claw Fish, Orrays, even Goraxes and Blurrrgs" I'd probably say the "Sail Barge, the Sarlaac, a larger Sandcrawler resculpt, a Death Star playset" or something and leave off the beasts you listed. I don't remember people asking for those and without looking I don't even know what beasts your'e talking about. Maybe we should stick to iconic stuff. And if we leave the question as drafted they'll probably remind us that we have the Sandcrawler.

Same here. I've never heard of a Blurrrg, nobody ever asked for a Colo Claw Fish, and you're the only one who seems to ever ask about Ewok movie items.

Otherwise, though, it's a valid question. They'll say something like "it's an iconic monster" and "it's a new movie whereas Star Wars isn't," so maybe you should address these points as well (you kind of did, but reinforcing them would help greatly).

All right. Just don't tone it down so they can totally dodge it, please.

10, 16, 24 and for anoher question: Has any thought been given, due to the collector demand for playsets, to doing a line of modular playsets that could be put together to simulate a Death Star playset and maybe released in the Battle Pack format? For example, looking at the Classic Death Star, releasing one platform at a time with one or two stormtroopers and pylons for interconnnectivity could allow collectors to buy as many or as few as we want, not to mention maybe have docking connectors for our vehicles.

I'd like to vote for questions 19, 20, 26, 30

I'd also like to add a question that's become quite redundant. But I think that's because it hasn't been asked in a specific way. So please Humor me and at least paraphrase my ranting so we can finally have this problem properly addressed.

There have been a lot of complaints about pegwarmers and the Legends taking up shelf space from TAC resulting in certain waves (like the one with Darth Revan) being missed by consumers. Hasbro has stated several times that this doesn't hurt distribution because of sloted peg space and sales. How can sales be generated for a specific product if it doesn't reach the floor in the first place? I don't think a lot of the "kids" working at Target or Wallmart care enough getting paid $7.50 (or whatever) an hour about slot space. Like Tycho suggested in an earlier post this problem could be easily solved by having different packaging. But this would actually require employes too look at the product sku's/skn's. Also a huge problem I've had is when a retailer sells down too quickly they just move another product over wether it's legends or an entirely different toyline. By the time it's corrected stores are overstocked with product that is dated and that I've had to track down for inflated rates online. The 25th anniversary G.I.Joes also had this problem during the holidays and target said it was because of thier reset while a wallmart manager told me she didn't think they wher going to continue carrying them because the computer wouldn't allow her to order more.

Don't mean to stereotype any retail workers on the boards but this is the case in my area.

Good suggestion Tycho.

Questions 32-34 added.

Since we don't already have enough questions:

It has been reported that the video game The Force Unleashed has been pushed back once again to August. Does this affect your release of products in any way? Will they continue to ship simultaneously with the game?

Or something like that.Hmm, that's a toughy because the first batch of figures is already on the boat, and the game will come out after the TAC'08 line is done probably. I've reworked the question, LMK if it's ok.

In light of the CNN video that was shown, I have a new one:

A small glimpse of the AT-TE can be seen on a CNN segment featuring new Hasbro product for 08. Since this small tease has alot of people excited, can you throw us a bone and provide a full image to us?

We'll probably get a "We're waiting until Toy Fair, or Comic-Con response, but it's worth a try I guess.I'm afraid they're gonna pull a "we're not answering questions about the AT-TE right now" the way they did on the Falcon, and we'll have wasted a question. I've added it, but with a warning at the end to voters. You have 1 vote remaining.

Star Wars has an incredibly competitive market right now for higher-end items and Hasbro has a proven track record of failure with items at these price points. Can you think of a way to counter that in the question so we don't end up getting burned? I'm not saying "no" right now to adding it, even uncivil the way you asked (and hell yes your name will be publically blamed for it :p), but I'm not ready to say "yes" yet either.

For example, looking at the Classic Death Star, releasing one platform at a time with one or two stormtroopers and pylons for interconnnectivity could allow collectors to buy as many or as few as we want, not to mention maybe have docking connectors for our vehicles. The very first question we ever asked them was on that topic. June 9th, 2006, SSG:
Q: Have you considered new playset ideas, especially modular playsets so collectors can build larger playsets from smaller sets?
A: A scaling playset is a great idea. There has been a lot of discussion internally on whether this could be successful in today's market. However, we continue to see diminished demand for playsets. If we ever see the landscape changing, it's something we could take a look at in the future. And since then, their comments on playsets have only gotten more negative.

Good suggestion Tycho.I've got a way I think will make the question even better, as this issue has been on my mind for a while. However, I'm leaving that part about stores moving product onto blank pegs out because large retailers have agreements with Hasbro not to do that, instead sticking to planograms sent from their respective corporate offices, so it's only isolated incidences (remember last summer all the blank shelves for months at a time for Transformers?). LMK what you think of the modified question I put up, for now I've counted your vote for it.

Hey guys, what about a cloud car?????They keep saying the same thing, like this one from last week:

Toymania.com: Any chance of bringing forward that one vehicle that hasn't been out in the new line, the Twin Pod Cloud Car?
Hasbro: While there is a possibility we will update it in the future, the Cloud Car is much farther down on our list than other choices. It suffers a bit being not a very aggressive looking vehicle, and not that cool among among kids. It also seems to be one of the most abundant vintage vehicle and can be had very inexpensively, so we just haven't felt compelled to devote a slot to it yet...

Well, that's it for this round... FINALLY!!!

Here's the questions we're asking this round:
We understand the need for exclusives, but isn't it too much when 1 store has multiple exclusives all at once?
Is Hasbro considering continuing the Galactic Heroes line with more figures from Jabba's Palace (like Tessek, J'quille, Oola, the band etc.) and the Mos Eisley Cantina (like Elis Helrot, Kitik Keed'kak, Muftak etc.)? Also, bounty hunters Aurra Sing and Zam Wesell would be round out the bounty hunter set nicely.
The Snowspeeder has only been an exclusive item in the past two releases for it where prior releases were regular mass-retail. Why the exclusivity and accompanying higher pricepoint on this vehicle? If it's due to its somewhat large size compared to other vehicles, could it be scaled down to accurate proportions (since it is actually a little over scale as-is) and released in the $20 line?
Although Hasbro has stated that plants aren't high on the potential accessory list, Hasbro's also shown interest in completing the cantina scene. With that in mind and the increased focus on producing figures of concept art, has there been any consideration of doing a figure of the plantlike Revwien alien developed for the cantina scene, maybe as an accessory or pack-in figure due to its unique design? Would he/she/it be given a proper name?
Since Hasbro has just stated that it is unlikely that RA-7, Oola, BoShek and Takeel will ever be updated, is it likely that they will be re-released in the forseeable future with new/better paint jobs? And how about doing an Original trilogy version of Sy Snootles with the puppet's smaller eyes, perhaps even with the tusks and the feather hat and microphone - how likely is that?
The idea of having 2 Battle Droids on a single basic card is a good one, as it lets fans build up armies quickly and cheaply. Thanks to everybody for participating, look for a new round later today.

We can continue the discussion on the Cloverfield question there.
