Looks like the name for the new Bond film (http://commanderbond.net/article/4809) has been revealed.

According to the synopsis, Bond girl Camille, played by Ukrainian-born Olga Kurylenko, leads the secret agent to Dominic Greene, member of a mysterious organization and a ruthless businessman, seeking to control huge natural resources.

Greene is played by Mathieu Amalric, who starred in the Oscar-nominated The Diving Bell and Butterfly. The plot follows on directly from Casino Royale as Bond aims to uncover the truth about Vesper, the beauty who betrayed him, and discovers that she had been blackmailed. "James Bond is after revenge, and Camille is after revenge and they have slightly different goals, but in the end they are going to have to collaborate," Kurylenko told reporters.

"The crux of the story is an emotional element called a Quantum of Solace, the smallest unit of human compassion that two people can have. As long as that compassion exists, people can survive, but when it is gone, when your partner no longer cares about your essential humanity, the relationship is over."

What a weird title. But at least it's not as strange as "Octo*****".

That is a dumb name. Was this actually a book by Mr Fleming?

My understanding is that it's a short story from Fleming. I think it's a pretty interesting name. I'm excited for this flick.

Worse title than The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones.

How many stories does Fleming have in the closet that haven't been used yet?

They're bringing back Lazenby, right? That man is the only Bond I care about.

This title is total junk, it's clunky and awkward. The details about the film in the opening post seem like a total mess and utterly undermining what little strength the last film's overarching tale had.

I agree that it's a carpy title. It just doesn't have that Bond sound to it like "Goldeneye", "Moonraker", "Die Another Day", etc.

It almost sounds like it could be a lame Harry Potter title.

Does that mean you don't like it, JT ?

I'd like to get Double G's opinion on that before I consider the matter further.

I thought it sounded so random that it was a reference to coded messages or something.

Sounds like the title of a Star Trek movie...

 I like the idea of a huge organization; it's very reminiscent of the SPECTRE, which I think would be interesting to bring about.

The short story that this movie is based on has been used before. It was the source behind the screenplay for "for your eyes only"

Even though they still look like they're using the Bourne series as inspiration it still looks damn good. They did a great job in Casino Royale in making Bond interesting again, which looks like he's got even more characterization this time.

Also loving the fact that its a direct sequel to CR rather than the Bond Reboot 2.

No doubt this will be a good film (if Casino Royal is any indication), but they must have attended the George Lucas seminar on giving your films titles that are ridiculously stupid but hard to forget.....

Isn't the Quantum Solace a new Sedan by Lexus?

I forget, which is the singular/plural. Quanta or Quantum. Either he's got a lot, or he's only got the one.

Wouldn't Solace make it singular?

LOL

Wouldn't Solace make it singular?

Want to check the word, make sure this really isn't a giant cluster frak. It is indeed the singular.

and Laidler and Mieser 8th Edition Physical Chemistry.

So James has just the one.

If Kangaroo Jack macks a cameo, I'd want my money back. :p

I do like the aspect of it is a direct or almost direct continuation from the very ending of Casino Royale. Trying to tie things together more concrete than other Bond films is a slightly new/different twist.

Does this mean there would be motherf###### crocs on my motherf###### plane!?

Wasn't Quantas of Solace the name of the Indian who guided Lewis and Clark to the men's room?

I saw a commercial for it yesterday, and it made me realize that I've never seen a James Bond film in a theater (or a theatre, either). Might need to rent Casino Royale to get caught up on this'n.

See it! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I don't think it's the best Bond film, it's just different, in a good way. It takes the "liscence to kill" moniker to its logical conclusion.....James is a hardcore mutherf#####........

I think each Bond speaks to its own generation....the Cold War Bond worked well in its time, the post-Cold War Bond did what it could do, and now the post-911 Bond fits the times.

I hear they're going to drop the 'shaken not stirred' and 'Bond, James Bond' quotes that Bond is famously known for. I'm not a big fan of those lines and always thought it was time to retire those lines.

I enjoyed Casino Royale a lot, it will either make or break your view of Daniel Craig.

I'm going to see this in approximately 2 1/2 hours!

This is 00-Zero. Over and Out.

BTW: my evil plan to subject the world to my Dork-O-Tron device is proceeding exactly as I have forseen!

You may be a nerd already and not even be aware of it! [Evil laughing]

Quantum of Solace was just awesome! One of the best Bond movies easily!

There was so much action and a great story. Daniel Craig is the most physical / action packed Bond ever!

Way to put the same thing in two threads.

I'm gonna go and see Quantum of Solace again tonight.

Quantum was good however it is not a standalone move. If you don't see Casino Royale you will be lost to what is going on in the movie. Quantum seems to me to be the end of the Casino Royale movie not another movie in itself.

I'm going to go read the books. I need a new series to start seeing as terry pratchett has pretty much ground to a halt. i've read two or three of the books already but so long ago i'm getting them mixed up in my head. I'd like to read the whole lot and then compare bonds. see which movies live up to the books.

That's a cool idea Jargo. Did Ian Flemming write all the Bond books, or are they making movies from original pieces now? Or will they be doing that in the future? (Make Bond movies off new material).

I don't even know if Ian Flemming is still alive.

Fleming died in 1964. He wrote 14 books I believe. 2 has several short stories so they had to come up with some of there own storylines and titles for the movies. Most of the titles have some tie in to flemming like "Goldeneye" was the nickname of his ranch.
