I was just looking back at how ESB fell:

Utriss M'Toc
Treva Horme (on the original list from my poll)
Wiorkettle

all will likely never make our finalists. They range from No. 12 /13 to 24 on our new poll results, and well behind resculpts of figures like Wedge and Han Bespin.

I don't even know that those resculpts will make our list. I'm not going to vote for them.

So sad. Cloud City loses so much love.

Yeah, I hear ya. I agree that these three are just as figure-worthy as Jabba's palace and cantina characters! Hasbro stated that there was a "strong possibility" they would look at Utris M'toc the next time they do a Bespin security guard. The other two are probably shuffled in with the rest of the OT aliens so who knows when we'll get them. I'm not really interested in any ESB figures except for these three plus Zuckuss, 2-1B and a new Probe Droid.

As far as the current list goes, Cane Adiss and Dice Ibegon are my two favorites and I hope they make the list (although it's looking less and less likely each round ). BG-J38 and Brainiac would be great too!

We just got 2-1B. Are you not satisfied with the 2008 figure? He looks OK to me.

Utriss M'Toc
Treva Horme (on the original list from my poll)
Wiorkettle

All three of these were in my top 5 ESB wants (Utris was my #1), shame they won't make the finals.

The 2008 version is an Ep3 version of the droid, I think Cane Adiss was asking for a ESB version, which has many differences including a left hand and no disco, bell-bottom feet.

For any of you doubters (DROID) who questioned MadSlantedPowers' polling process, I just noticed this:

Only once, with ANH's list, have figures within a movie category trumped their predacessors.

While voted on separately, Dr. Evezan (resculpt) won the ANH poll. (And he is doing very well in Round 3 right now).

However, ANH's remaining Top 5 have ALL placed in the whole poll's Top 10:

Wioslea, Brea Tonnika, Bom Vimdim, and Senni Tonnika. Since we're asking for all the Top 50 to be made, it certainly won't matter much when you can point to all of these characters in the Top 10, and Evezan falls within the Top 15.

AOTC shows the same pattern with Cliegg, Owen, and Beru. Now offered are Queen Jamilla and Padme in her yellow dress from the Waterfalls, (No's 6 & 7 on the AOTC list) but they did not surpass the Larses, who remain ranking right where AOTC voting showed them to rank.

MadSlantedPowers' system is working perfectly.

Great job!

MadSlantedPowers' system is working perfectly.

Great job!

Time will tell if the system worked "pefectly" and I agree that MadSlantedPowers is doing a great job of running the polls. I still have yet to hear an argument why submitting a list ranking your top 25 choices wouldn't yield a perfect result and will be interested to see how the rankings compare to the current poll if that was done.

1) This process lasts 10 weeks or longer and it's more fun to wait, anticipating results. A list poll would be over with overnight.

2) It's less of a headache to prioritize 5 figures versus 25 or 50.

3) In this discussion thread, people can post, focusing on specific characters that "are up or on-deck" from week to week. For example, it looks like Dr. Evezan is going to rank in Round 3. I would most likely NOT buy this figure, but all the people voting for him could pipe up about it. Meanwhile, I think several Padmes should be people's priorities. I could argue more about that - though I haven't been in the mood to. Meanwhile, Beru already made the list, so there really isn't a need to focus on arguing for her unless you really think she also needs a ROTS variant figure and that comes up. But NO ROTS figure has ranked yet, but a larger General Grievous appears he might do so (This would bring Owen - ROTS up for a vote).

Anyway, I just discussed 4 figures I think (above). Maybe someone cares to comment on one or all of them, but I doubt anyone's going to read through a whole documentary about 25-50 of them at one time.

Here are the results for Phase 2 Round 3. There were 30 voters this round. There was a 31st but he put Luke & Leia as a two-pack and didn't update it so I had to discount the vote. His vote for Luke Medical Frigate would have bumped a figure out of the top 5.

1. Dr. Evazan.....41 points on 10 votes (5,1,4,0,0)
2. General Grievous.....27 points on 6 votes (3,3,0,0,0)
3. BG-J38.....24 points on 7 votes (1,3,2,0,1)
4. Cane Adiss.....23 points on 7 votes (2,0,3,2,0)
5. Dice Ibegon.....23 points on 6 votes (1,3,2,0,0)

6. Luke Medical Frigate.....21 points on 6 votes (2,1,1,2,0)
7. Sgt. Doallyn.....20 points on 8 votes (0,2,1,4,1)
8. Tey How.....19 points on 6 votes (1,2,1,1,1)
9. Queen Amidala Return to Naboo.....19 points on 5 votes (3,0,1,0,1)
10. WED-15-ST68 Septoid Droid.....18 points on 8 votes (1,1,1,1,4)
11. Jocasta Nu.....17 points on 7 votes (1,1,1,1,3)
12. Uncle Owen.....17 points on 5 votes (1,2,0,2,0)
13. Gamorrean Guard.....15 points on 7 votes (1,0,1,2,3)
14. FX-6.....15 points on 5 votes (1,2,0,0,2)
15. Joruus C'baoth.....15 points on 4 votes (1,1,2,0,0)
16. Brainiac.....14 points on 7 votes (0,1,1,2,3)
17. Edian – Black Bespin Guard.....14 points on 5 votes (0,1,2,2,0)
18. Utai.....12 points on 3 votes (2,0,0,1,0)
19. Leia Medical Frigate.....11 points on 5 votes (1,0,0,2,2)
20. Torynn Farr.....11 points on 5 votes (0,0,2,2,1)
21. Captain Needa.....11 points on 4 votes (0,1,2,0,1)
22. Ratts Tyerell.....10 points on 3 votes (1,1,0,0,1)
23. Barriss Offee.....10 points on 3 votes (0,2,0,1,0)
24. Padmé Loyalist Committee.....5 points on 2 votes (0,1,0,0,1)
25t. Daultay Dofine.....5 points on 2 votes (0,0,1,1,0)
25t. Nom Anor.....5 points on 2 votes (0,0,1,1,0)
27t. Jacen Solo.....5 points on 1 vote (1,0,0,0,0)
27t. Breha Organa.....5 points on 1 vote (1,0,0,0,0)
29. Jaina Solo.....4 points on 1 vote (0,1,0,0,0)
30t. Ben Quadinaros.....3 points on 2 votes (0,0,0,1,1)
30t. Gilad Pellaeon.....3 points on 2 votes (0,0,0,1,1)
30t. Queen Jamillia.....3 points on 2 votes (0,0,0,1,1)
33. R2-D2 Shield Bunker Damage.....3 points on 1 vote (0,0,1,0,0)
34t. Padmé Yellow Picnic Dress.....1 point on 1 vote (0,0,0,0,1)
34t. Midwife Droid.....1 point on 1 vote (0,0,0,0,1)

So our overall list now looks like this:

1. Cliegg Lars
2. Guri
3. Wioslea
4. Brea Tonnika (blue)
5. Owen Lars (AOTC)
6. Bom Vimdin
7. Beru Whitesun (AOTC)
8. Sim Aloo
9. Senni Tonnika (green)
10. Wooof
11. Dr. Evazan
12. General Grievous
13. BG-J38
14. Cane Adiss
15. Dice Ibegon

Well, the Round 3 Results suck (IMO). But by no means is it the fault of the poll.

Dr. Evezan and General Grievous are resculpts.

BG-J38 is not terribly exciting and Lucasfilm originally made the droid out of 8D8's parts with different paint and a different head - so that's all Hasbro has to do. :tired:

Cane Adiss I'd never heard of, and thus never yearned for before this poll effort.

And Dice Ebegon is basically a prop. She should be a pack-in if released. Ketwol, who replaced her, wasn't that much more exciting either. But I'd probably enjoy having Dice - just not carded by herself.

If the next 6 that fell in after our Top 5 winners from this round, make it next round, they'll make for awesome figures! (and all winners from my previous poll's)

I think I'll go ahead and post Round 4 now since it is Wednesday. Normally I don't stay up this late during the week, but I'm on vacation and won't be getting up at my usual time in the morning.

Edit - these are the new additions in Round 4:

Saurin (Hrchek Kal Fas/Sai'torr Kal Fas)
Trinto Duaba
Admiral Ackbar
Lumat
Owen Lars (ROTS)

Only one of my choices made the cut this week, but I reckon the list is shaping up pretty well, with a nice mix of unmade, yet very important humans (ie, the Lars family), and Cantina / Jabba's Palace aliens.

I'm not usually too worried about getting resculpts (though I do have to buy them if made), and I'm pretty happy with all the Grievouses I've got, but the original Dr Evazan looks nothing like the character, so I'd love to see him updated with improved sculpt and articulation.

I'm surprised to see Cane and Dice so high (well, not really surprised, since Cane in particular has some very strong and vocal support), but both are nothing more than puppet heads. I agree that Dice would be great.... as a pack-in. As for Cane, I can't imagine what sort of body Hasbro could come up with that would make for a cool figure..... maybe someone could point towards some concept art for the character that is already out there? (No disrespect meant to the supporters of these characters, just interested to see how the props could translate into decent action figures.)

At least now I can vote for the Saurins in the next round.

Go to Cane Adiss's aricle's talkpage on wookieepedia. There are some idea's of what Cane's probable body would look like (actually, I'm Plavalaguna on that site if you were wondering). Also, I posted a thread about Cane Adiss awhile back on these forums basically making my case for a figure. I based my speculation on facts found in Cane's databank entry on his size/dimensions etc.

Also, there's a link in that Wookieepedia talkpage for a custum figure by Michael Collins that's quite good. That is pretty much how I envision Cane to look like, but maybe with a more slender body.

Thanks for that. I think I read somewhere that he should be a four legged animal something like I giraffe, which I imagined as being pretty lame, but your idea of a lizard that can rear up on two legs sounds a lot better. I tend to prefer the humanoid aliens, but that's just me, and I know it's preferable and more "realistic" to have a scene populated by as many different body shapes and configurations as possible.

Apart from the giraffe comparison, I think I've been put off 2-headed aliens by Fode and Beed, which was one (two?) of the most contrived and unconvincing aliens of the saga.

Yeah, based on his head I figured he could look like a giraffe. He could be a TRU exclusive!

Here is the breakdown of how each of the categories fared this round:

ANH...109 points on 36 votes
ROTJ...88 points on 30 votes
ESB....63 points on 24 votes
ROTS...61 points on 16 votes
TPM....56 points on 18 votes
AOTC...41 points on 16 votes
EU.....32 points on 10 votes

ANH leads the way for the third straight round. It has qualified two figures each time. ROTJ continues to do well after a slow start in Round 1. AOTC is starting to fade now that the Lars family is done. EU is not getting much support yet. ESB and TPM are the only ones that haven't put a figure on the list yet. Queen Amidala Return to Naboo starts strong every round but then falls out of the top 5 by the end.

The list so far has 6 ANH, 4 ROTJ, 3 AOTC, 1 ROTS & 1 EU.

Well, I have to say I'm pretty happy that 3 characters I'm most stoked about have made it onto the final list.

Cane Adiss ~ would make an awesome third big Jabba's palace figure after Ephant Mon & Hermie Odle. I guess if Hasbro continues the build-a-figure concept, Cane would be a good candidate for that. (As would his friend Kal'falnl Cndros from the streets of Mos Eisley)

Dice Ibegon ~ another alien in the same boat as Cane Adiss, I think most assume she has a wormlike body so essentially she'd just be a bendy. That means she would work best as a pack-in with another Cantina alien, perhaps a new or repainted Lak Sivrak due to the EU tie they have.

BG-J38 ~ yes he shares parts with 8-D8, but I'm looking forward to an all new and well articulated figure for BG. Of course he should include his little gaming console as well. Been wanting this one even before I knew who Cane Adiss was!

I'm excited for pretty much any Cantina/ Jabba's Palace figure Hasbro will throw at us. Here's hoping Hasbro eventually includes Holiday Special cantina characters into the mix as well as some of those species never appeared in the movies. Hoping for updates of Evazan, Ponda Baba, Gamorrean Guards, EV-9D9, Orrimaarko, Nien Nunb and Admiral Ackbar as well.

Here's a little voter analysis of the first three rounds.

Voters by Round:
Round 1 = 34
Round 2 = 31
Round 3 = 30 (+1 rejected vote)

40 different people have voted.

25 people have voted in all three rounds.
5 have voted in two rounds.
10 have voted in one round.

Those who have been most successful in having their votes make the top 5 each round:

8 - Droid
7 - Cane_Adiss
7 - evenflow
7 - Jabbapalacespy
6 - bigbarada
6 - Obi-Jiff Kenobi
6 - omnithx
5 - joe-da
5 - sebillba

Of those who voted in all three rounds, pegger must be the most frustrated. Only one of his choices has made the list. Battle Droid and JediTricks have only had two make it. This is only considering whether they made it in the round they voted for them. I didn't check to see if someone voted for a figure in one round and didn't make it, but made it in a later round in which they didn't vote for it.

Only 3 of my choices have made it. Kind of ironic that Droid has the most since he preferred a different method for Phase 2.

Here is a breakdown of how the votes have been distributed through all three rounds. The numbers in parentheses are the percentage of total points and percentage of total votes.

ANH...354 points on 119 votes (24.84%/25.05%)
ROTJ..267 points on 92 votes (18.74%/19.37%)
AOTC..207 points on 73 votes (14.53%/15.37%)
ESB...171 points on 60 votes (12.00%/12.63%)
TPM...169 points on 54 votes (11.86%/11.37%)
ROTS..141 points on 43 votes (9.89%/9.05%)
EU....116 points on 34 votes (8.14%/7.16%)

JediTricks

Results seem consistent with voting and the general feeling I've been getting out there for the past few years, it looks like the OT is favored about 65/35 in this, lots of cantina and palace aliens as usual.

Well, the Round 3 Results suck (IMO). But by no means is it the fault of the poll.

Dr. Evezan and General Grievous are resculpts. You're a resculpt!

these are the new additions in Round 4:

Saurin (Hrchek Kal Fas/Sai'torr Kal Fas)
Trinto Duaba

Owen Lars (ROTS)I think it's unwise for Owen Lars ROTS to be in there, it's the identical character and costume to AOTC which is already in the winners' circle, that scene was even shot at the same time. IMO, Owen Lars ROTS should be bumped and the next ROTS figure should be put into the slot.

Battle Droid and JediTricks have only had two make it. This is only considering whether they made it in the round they voted for them. I didn't check to see if someone voted for a figure in one round and didn't make it, but made it in a later round in which they didn't vote for it.Yeah, I voted for Evazan in round 2 but not 1 and 3. I find that very interesting, not because it was my choice or anything, but because it is what I was talking about before, the mixing of the movies can indeed change how the final list could develop differently from the individual movie polls.

Just posted my votes in round 4. My list order changed slightly, despite it being an anti-strategic result, it's just that the mood strikes me differently at this point a bit. I still think this would have been easier if it was 7 or 10 votes tho'.

You're a resculpt!

Yeah, well you haven't had your figure updated since 1978 and you probably wear a vinyl cape and play with your telescoping-something around the house. ;)

Here I sort of agree with JediTricks. The thing with Owen is: would a soft-goods accessory robe over the "Luke Skywalker style outfit" make the ROTS figure into the AOTC figure? If so, that's one route.

For the plastic-shell lovers, this wouldn't be as fair though: see the 1997 Han Endor figure for an example, but the arms of his cloak would need to be molded wearing the sleeves of his hooded robe, and the rest of the robe would be put on his figure like a long vest.

The only other problem with the hard-shell robe is that he wouldn't be able to sit down for that exciting scene when Owen seats himself at the table for a refreshing blue-milk beverage when Anakin and Padme come to visit in AOTC.

I'm being sarcastic, but I voted for the AOTC figure and plan to make dioramas with his figure - though not actually of that scene.

Kind of ironic that Droid has the most since he preferred a different method for Phase 2.

This was too funny.

ROTS pic 1 (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Image:Beru-owen-luke.jpg)
ROTS pic 2 (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Image:Owen-OP.jpg)

Beru's outfit in the first ROTS pic is even more different from her AOTC outfit (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Image:Young_Owen_and_Beru.jpg).

I think most people want the AOTC version the most, as we have seen with them already making the list. If others are thinking as I am, the birth of the twins packs that have been released should have included the ROTS versions. Perhaps a future release could have them, Obi-Wan, an Eopie and part of the homestead.

Thanks for the pictures of the Larses, MSP.

I take back some of what I was saying about soft-goods for a cloak, etc. Though it is still a consideration of whether folks want an AOTC Owen figure to be able to sit down and have blue milk.

Wow, I didn't know they were at all different. That sucks, I really hope the completists don't get their way on this one, it's ridiculous, but yeah, it should make the list. Damnit.

04-23-2008, 09:35 PM
JT: By "completists," do you mean people who have to have a figure of every single character or creature in each film?

If so, we should decide upon a new term for that kind of enthusiast.

"Completist" has been widely used to mean someone who buys every figure Hasbro releases, every variation, and nearly every packaging variation.

They are True-Collectors, but not necessarily the people who campaign for every character on screen to be made into a figure.

Ah-ha! Maybe those are True-Completists, as different from True-Collectors?

These terms may be worthy of being entries into Tycho's True-Dictionary.

bigbarada

Onscreen completists - those who want a separate figure for every onscreen character in every costume that they were shown wearing.

Toy completists - those who buy every toy and every variation of every toy.

Tycho

Good definitions BigBarada

But I don't know how to classify myself.

I could care less that many of the Separatists changed outfits for their scenes in ROTS. The AOTC Screen Scene figures of them suffice nicely for me.

However, I just want the ones like Rogwa and Senator Tiikes to be made that don't have ANY figures of them yet.

But when it comes to Bail Organa, I want all his outfits made - especially since they picked one of the boring ones for ROTS' first figure of him. (I want the Senate and Airspeeder Pilot figures for Bail asap).

Mad Slanted Powers

I would say I'm a figure completist. I don't care about carded variations, and I don't usually need figure variations like all the different POTF2 Boba Fetts and TPM Mauls that had some sort of variation. I have some repaints/repacks. A lot of it depends on pack-ins or how different the repaint is.

I'm not trying to get myself banned in my first post, But I have been watching these polls and never felt the need to comment. But senses and my dignity as a collector has been offended yet once again.

Why is it that these polls always include 95% obscure or useless characters? Why do we need another R2? Why do we need these obscure aliens? There are variants of the core characters that are worthwhile, and they are represented here...but who wants characters that are just gonna lay around in some dusty diorama. They are ACTION FIGURES...so why not make those that have some ACTION? And Sim Aloo.

I had to respond to this. We want these figures because the fact that they are made at all is what sets the Star Wars line apart&above all other toy lines. The core characters have always and will always be made and various versions will always be available - we hardly even need to ask for them - this is why polls such as this are a chance to let Hasbro know which background characters we want. Needless to say you're not a diorama builder - fair enough. But since, as you say yourself, various core characters are represented in the results and will be made, I don't see why the additional presence of 'dust gatherers' on the lists is an affront to your dignity as a collector.

...having said all this I'm a tad hypocritical because whenever I see giant EU wishlists.....

OK. There are a LOT of different types of Star Wars customers. Anyone with different purchasing patterns / wants from yourself isn't trying to offend you. As you will see, I am one who is VERY different in my buying habits than yourself.

Why is it that these polls always include 95% obscure or useless characters? Why do we need another R2? Why do we need these obscure aliens?

Speaking for myself, I am one of those who wants their "dust-collecting dioramas" set up everywhere (but hopefully behind glass, so there'll be less dust).

I am not "a collector," but I have thousands of figures, and many upon many Imperials and Clones for example. Why? My hobby is making these dioramas. In a sense, you should be glad I'm here, because the money I spend contributes to Hasbro's success with the line and making the figures that YOU want, too.

There are variants of the core characters that are worthwhile, and they are represented here

Hasbro confirmed a new Death Star II Luke is coming, and an updated Slave Leia, and a Sandstorm Leia are on their way by 2009. Plus figures like the Medical Frigate Luke and Leia (from the end of ESB) will definitely make the list - looking like Round 4 or Round 5 will see them rank there. I seriously want these (well not another Slave Leia, unless if she's the Sandstorm one) but I want my diorama filler stuff too.

So to each their own. Our purchases help each other out - and having a variety makes sure the line sells, Saurins, Tonnika Sisters, and Skywalkers all.

Hope to see you around the boards and voting some more!

JT: By "completists," do you mean people who have to have a figure of every single character or creature in each film?Character completists, not figure completists. I'm ignoring the rest of your jibber-jabber, foo' (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Eisa5AZ20W0).

Personally, I find these fan lists to be way over the top, there's so much stuff in them that would make for boring, unselling figures, but because they were briefly glimpsed onscreen, they're demanded by a few guys. The merits for a figure should be screentime, screen value, recognizability, and toyetics - probably 90% of these fan lists fail on half or more of those merits.

Great post Devo (except for the part about giant EU wish lists ) -Tycho

Yes I know - the EU hate - I'm sorry. I find I can't help but be disappointed when I see 'New Rumor list' in the news section and its all EU. I personally just look forward to seeing wave lists featuring 1 or 2 OT core characters and the rest new OT background guys or resculpted troops. Or indeed new prequel core characters* like TPM Obi-wan, the new evolutions Qui-gon etc. But theres another part of me, the money conscious part, thats relieved when its 'just' EU.

*Actually there again I may be hypocritical - when it comes to the prequels I don't see much point in ever seeing figures of most of the background characters - but thats because no prequel scene will ever be as iconic and studied as anything in the OT and there is simply way too much anyway. Hasbro would need to still be putting out Star Wars figures in 20 years time in order to have covered a meaningful amount of PT backgrounders for a diorama builder to set up a complete scene. And while I'm sure many of us would have been surprised in 1995 to know that the figure line would still be going in 2008 I very much doubt it'll still be going in 2028.

Question: Wasn't Lumat already confirmed for 2008 or 2009 or was that just an outdated rumor list?

Question: Wasn't Lumat already confirmed for 2008 or 2009 or was that just an outdated rumor list?

This was from a Rebelscum Q&A (http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/Hasbros_51st_STAR_WARS_QA_The_Answers_113685.asp) earlier this month:

Rebelscum: Where's Lumat? On the sticker sheet in the Action Figure Base Packs, Lumat appears on the list. While the "Graak" figure from 2007 appears to be based on the same Ewok photo that the vintage Lumat figure was based on, they apparently are different characters. Speculation was that we'd see Lumat in the ROTJ wave (what's now been revealed as The Legacy Collection wave 1), but that turned out to be another Ewok named "Leektar". So back to our original question....where's Lumat? Has he been bumped in favor of lesser-known Ewoks, or are there plans for this long-lost figure to come out? Longtime fans want to know if we can look forward to checking off another vintage upgraded figure!

Hasbro: Yes, indeed. Lumat was originally meant to be the figure we were doing in the two-pack with Romba. Lucasfilm asked us to change him to Graak, but the sticker sheet was already out to be printed. Someday soon we hope to get to Lumat.

So, as of April 4, he hadn't been announced, but they hope to get to him.

What determines whether a figure comes off the Phase II voting list?

There are some curiousities:

EU: Exar Kun - seems to be rumored

ANH: Bom Vimdim, but he made it anyway. Either Tonnika Sister, Hasbro won't comment on amidst speculation about legal woes if they do.

AOTC / ESB: Hasbro once said 2 out of 3 with Yarna (seen already), Beru, Torynn Far - seems we are still voting on all of them, save for Yarna who's realized in plastic now. And I also think in the same answer, Hasbro said "all 3" by 2009.

ROTJ: Slave Leia / Sandstorm Leia - wouldn't these be very similar? I suppose the presence of super-articulation or a desert poncho would be the defining attribute?

ROTJ: Luke Death Star II? Hasbro said they were finally going for this as well, but I don't recall if it was said "2009" or just "soon."

ROTS: What did they say about the accurate size Grievous?

1) Do we need a picture of the painted sample to cross it off the list? Seems the safest route to go.

2) Do we just need the definitive "Yes, we're making that character for 2009?" Is 2009 too far into the future to take it seriously anyway?

3) Does, we'll get to that character "soon," like in the example with Lumat, count?

ANH: Bom Vimdim, but he made it anyway. Either Tonnika Sister, Hasbro won't comment on amidst speculation about legal woes if they do.Has there been an announcement of Bom Vimdin? I thought he was rumored last year, but I don't recall if there was anything more specific than that.

AOTC / ESB: Hasbro once said 2 out of 3 with Yarna (seen already), Beru, Torynn Far - seems we are still voting on all of them, save for Yarna who's realized in plastic now. ROTJ: Luke Death Star II? Hasbro said they were finally going for this as well, but I don't recall if it was said "2009" or just "soon."I think for both they said if all goes according to plan, we'll see them by 2009. That sounds like they do plan on releasing them, but there could always be something that holds up the process and pushes it back. Either way, I believe they are coming.

ROTS: What did they say about the accurate size Grievous? With Grievous, last I heard there is a larger size one in the Clone Wars line, but he will be in the animated style. People weren't satisfied with that, otherwise I would have left him out of Phase I voting. I've not heard yet of any other version.

With Luke & Leia, it was more definite in that they said if all goes according to plan we will have one in 2009. That sounds like they are in the works. It's just a matter of how long it takes to make them.

If we include the omitted figures in our Phase 1 results, they will still see those figures as being wanted.

Re Slave / Sandstorm Leia, it seems neither are coming in 2009 after all:

"Galactic Hunter: As a follow-up to your revelation of a new Princess Leia - Slave Girl and Sandstorm Princess Leia planned for 2009, can you clarify if these are meant to be one in the same, or two separate figures coming next year? If they are one and the same, can we expect Sandstorm Princess Leia to accurately resemble the Princess Leia - Slave Girl we know once the cloak and goggles are removed? (From Shabby Blue)

HASBRO: Regarding Slave Leia, we have had a bit of a change-up in our plans and will clarify. Originally, we wanted to do the Sandstorm Leia, but have instead selected a different version of Leia for our EpVI wave. We think that you will find this Princess Leia every bit as interesting, if not more so (that's all the info we can give!). We will eventually get to Sandstorm Leia, but we think you will like what we have for her in '09."

I'd also be really interested to know if Bom Vimdin's been confirmed somewhere?? I'm sure they'll get to him eventually, but he's top of my most wanted list, so I'll be celebrating if he's confirmed for his year, or early next.

What other options for a ROTJ Leia are there? The only version that hasn't been remade in 10 years is the Ewok Gown Leia. Which, based on how she peg warmed back in 1998, I don't think Hasbro would be referring to her as "every bit as interesting" as a Slave/Sandstorm Leia.

She only wears 4 different outfits in ROTJ: Boushh Disguise, Slave Costume, Rebel Uniform, Ewok Gown. We got the Boushh Disguise version in 2006 and, while flawed, we still got a Rebel Uniform Leia last year.

I think Hasbro's hinting at a different version of Slave Leia, they're just not doing the Sandstorm version. Maybe a reclining version?

We have our first ESB figure to make the list. The Saurin makes the list on its first try. Turnout was still pretty good considering three people who had voted in the first three rounds didn't vote in this round. ANH continues to dominate by placing 3 more onto the list.

Here are the figures that will now be eligible for Round 5:

Red Leader Garven Dreis ANH
Rebel Technician ANH
Han Solo Bespin ESB
Kithaba ROTJ

These are awesome figure choices right here!

We've done right by the OT with this list of sure winners!

In fact, the only PT figures were the Lars family, who are very rightfully wanted - though it now looks like Jocasta Nu, several Amidalas and Niemoidians might make it to the top.

ANH continues to provide us with the most figure inspirations. I have a feeling that all the new ANH choices will do well. That movie is so iconic!

And including the Expanded Universe did not at all prove to be problematic, but fairly gauged the interest in the EU that's out there. It's still hard to believe that Guri did as well as she did (No. 2 overall?!) but C'Boath might be the next EU to ascend.

Watching the votes come in, I didn't think they were looking too interesting, so I had a nice surprise to see two of my choices make the top 5!! I'm especially pleased that the Saurin has made it through on the first week, to get into the top 20.

Good to see Luke in there as well, I've come very close to voting for him. Doallyn is ok, but I can't get excited about the WED droid... though it would make a great pack-in with another jawa, or an updated Uncle Owen.

I'd still like to see the Utai do better.... I had high hopes for them after they topped the ROTS poll. Same goes for Ratts Tyerell, who was #1 on TPM list. Everyone seems to love the Tsui Choi figure, so I'm surprised not many are wanting the film version of this species.

Of the new choices, I'd love to see an ultimate Bespin Han, but I'll mostly vote for new alien characters first, so Kithaba is the one I'd be most excited for.

Actually, the WED droid is the most interesting to me. It could be rather large, or at least big enough to be single-carded.

And it will have multiple points of articulation like FX-7 did in the POTJ line.

It will be cool because it will be so different from your standard action figure.

I'm more than a little pleasantly suprised to see basically every cantina character has entered the final list! I think we have some great figures here, although there really are no "core" characters included. I find it hard to believe that Hasbro will get to all of these before the line ends in 10 years while still balancing it out with the core characters but you never know. I hope the license gets extended!

Anyway, I know I would buy every figure listed, with the possible exception of the Lars family and Luke.

Wow no love for the Solo Twins...Kinda as how i expected.

Not a bad list though over all, but i doubt we'll ever see all of these figures made, but i would gurantee that at least half of them will eventually see the light of the day. I'm excited that Guri did well...(My only pick to make it so far!) I was also glad to see Luke Medical Frigate finally get some love, as i would really like to see that figure made, but only with Leia! I also can't believe Jocasta Nu and Toryn Farr haven't been added yet! Sheesh!! Even though i think toryn Farr is a wasted vote as she's coming out within the next year or two...

Jaina and Jacen are a couple I definitely want, but I've been trying to keep consistent with what I voted in Phase 1, and the figures I've been voting for haven't made the list yet the past couple rounds. In addition, more figures I want to vote for are becoming available to vote. In some cases like Saurin and WED droid, they made the list without me voting for them anyway.

Here was the breakdown by source for Round 4.

ANH...128 points on 40 votes
ESB....86 points on 28 votes
ROTJ...81 points on 30 votes
AOTC...70 points on 23 votes

I think the group will attempt to draw blood from stone with regards to getting everything they can out of ANH. That movie is so iconic and it seems to fit the pattern. When most of the viable choices from ANH dry up, the other films will get more traction, though ROTJ is going to perform well in any event.

Eventually, AOTC will be the leading Prequel choice (well it already is with the Lars family). But ROTS was really well-covered by Hasbro and TPM is just not as popular, though the aliens abound from TPM above all other prequels. ROTS lends itself to the most prequel droids now, and AOTC to the most figures of women.

The EU may or may not be tapped further, but we have 6 more rounds to go before we have designated a Top 50 even. However, the results have been almost totally predictable. It still amazes me that even with ANH figures for the modern line starting over again 13 years ago, there still is the strongest demand for characters from that source.

I don't know. I never really pay attention to the ratings. I did notice someone use a thumbs down icon in Round 1 I think.

1. Cliegg Lars (AOTC)
2. Guri (EU)
3. Wioslea (ANH)
4. Brea Tonnika (ANH)
5. Owen Lars (AOTC)
6. Bom Vimdin (ANH)

8. Sim Aloo (ROTJ)
9. Senni Tonnika (ANH)
10. Wooof (ROTJ)
11. Dr. Evazan (ANH)
12. General Grievous (ROTS)
13. BG-J38 (ROTJ)
14. Cane Adiss (ROTJ)
15. Dice Ibegon (ANH)
16. Brainiac (ANH)
17. Sgt. Doallyn (ROTJ)
18. WED-15-ST68 Septoid Droid (ANH)
19. Saurin (ANH)
20. Luke Medical Frigate (ESB)

9 - ANH
5 - ROTJ
3 - AOTC
1 - EU
1 - ROTS
1 - ESB

Total votes and points by source after five rounds:

I think it's more or less than ANH is what brought most collectors to the show and most, not all of us give credit to the fact that ANH is the begining of the best movie series there is, and fiction source for that matter... Personally i don't care if ANH get's tapped further, don't get me wrong i want the aliens, and a soft goods jawa just like the next guy, but i want figs from other sources just a little more. though I also wouldn't complain if any of the choices got made as i can count maybe 5-10 figures from all the total lists i wouldn't buy if they were produced.

ESB coming in second is the real shocker to me, how can something with that many points get so few figures into our current to list?

ESB is only ahead of ROTJ by 5 points and 2 votes though. The ROTJ choices are just obviously more of a priority for folks supporting them and ranking them higher on the list.

However, Torynn Far and the Black Bespin Guard will surely make the Top 50 - they made it last time, too. We've only determined a Top 20 thus far - and every last Cantina Alien just glimpsed of seems to be someone's next most-wanted. Leia from the Medical Frigate is also doing well (and made Kidhuman's Top 50 previously), plus I think a re-do of the Vintage Style (original 1980) Hoth Rebel will fair well if he becomes available for a vote (likely if a resculpt of Han Bespin wins one).

And look at the huge drop in interest for the prequels, that doesn't really surprise me, just the order and that's swayed by the Lars family.

Well, ROTS is probably the easiest to point to as the most-liked-prequel. But Hasbro really covered the figure possibilities from that film. If various outfits for Padme and Bail Organa aren't doing well, it's not going to go anywhere, even if people think the film's better than AOTC or TPM.

Yes, AOTC is making the most steady gains. It heavily leans towards female figures and thus IS a kind of source for that sort of variety in the toy line.

TPM is honestly the source for the most diverse figures of various alien forms, but they are mostly podracers who will not have their actual racing pods. Not to mention the fact that there's plenty to like about Star Wars with NEVER being a huge pod racing fan.

ESB has only placed one so far, but it was in Round 4, and overall their choices did well compared to others. If you add up the places like a cross country meet, this is how they ranked in Round 4.

ANH - 1st, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 15th = 30
ESB - 5th, 8th, 11th, 18th, 24th = 66
ROTJ - 2nd, 10th, 17th, 19th, 20th = 68
AOTC - 6th, 13th, 22nd, 23rd, 26th = 90
TPM - 9th, 16th, 28th, 31st, 34th = 118
ROTS - 12th, 21st, 25th, 33rd, 35th = 126
EU - 14th, 27th, 29th, 30th, 32nd = 132

Bleh! Jocasta Nu, that's just so wrong, an old lady librarian figure, that should be the very last SW figure ever made. Let's just hope that's not actually the case if she ever is made.

The rest of those are so not interesting to me. Barada 2, electric boogaloo is too similar to the one we have for me to buy.

Tzizvvt is not too surprising to me considering he's a cantina alien, but Trinto Duaba was preferred to the fly originally on the ANH list and more recognizeable when you watch Ep 4 I thought. (I never can see Tzizvvt anywhere in the movie). But I'd buy the figure.

All that made it are cool figures, but Needa is a little boring. For an Imp Officer, I'd much rather have Palleon from the EU.

Anyway, Torynn Farr is likely anyway - Hasbro sort of suggested that. I'm glad Jocasta regained her status as a finalist. She's the 24th most-wanted on MadSlantedPowers' list and she was the 24th most-wanted on my poll results list 4 years ago as well. Go figure.

Kithaba is also rather boring. I think other people care more than I would that he's different looking than Barada. But I'll buy 1-2 Kithabas, so what the heck.

I still have to vote for the same 5 I've put up since votes were called for Round 3.

R1, and R2 went partially my way. But I haven't had a character I voted for make it since. But I'm glad everyone is getting guys they like. As I mentioned before, figures I'd have voted for later on anyway are making the list. This time it was Jocasta Nu.

I've got to agree with JT.... Jocasta Nu would be one of the most boring figures ever. I don't care if she was once a great jedi; human female jedi don't make interesting figures (see Bultar Swan), so a crotchety old retired-jedi woman has got to be right at the bottom of my wants list. But people have voted for her, so she's on the list fair and square.

I'm really pleased Kithaba made it through, that means at least one of my choices has got through in each round, so I can't complain. And Tey How is poised to make it next week.

And although Tzizvvt isn't the greatest alien design, it's another cantina creature on the list, so I'm happy. :)

I think the final list is turning out pretty good. The last round was very kind to me, I voted for 4 of the 5 additions. Overall, I am liking 10 of the figures on the figures moving on to the final rounds.

However, this current round is looking pretty nasty. I am chomping at the bit to cast my vote, but I am going to hold off until a few more people vote and see if a couple of good figures are going to be given a chance. No reason to waste my five or four point support on figures that do not have a chance or will absolutely make it on the final list, anyway.

I have to completely disagree with you, JediTricks. Jocasta Nu is awesome. I have a number of friends in grad school for library science and their love of libraries and those who gaurd them, has rubbed off.

Not to mention she is a fiesty old woman with a different looking Jedi outfit than the rest.

Oh, and she verbally backhands Obi-wan for questioning the power of the archives.

She still pales in comparison to the awesomeness of Nute Gunray and all nemoidians, but such is the fate of all other Star Wars characters.

We had an Aunt Beru figure who was an old lady without too many more lines than Jocasta Nu. To me, Jocasta Nu is an essential figure. If I was a kid and wanted to act out the movie with my action figures, she would be necessary because she speaks and interacts with Obi-Wan. They've made a lot of background aliens that I barely remembered. Even a lot of the ones that are more prominent aren't really important other than as something to fill out the Cantina or Jabba's palace scenes. For the Cantina, the necessary ones would be Ponda Baba, Dr. Evazan, Greedo, Wuher and perhaps BoShek.

Speaking of Niemoidians, I think Tey How will ascend to the Finalists in perhaps this round or the next. Tey's look is interesting and different from past Niemoidian figures, but Tey How and Daultay Dofine made my last Top 50 list I polled for.

I expect that poor sales of Lushros Dofine temper the demand for Niemoidians, but they will eventually get done. If Nute is supplied instead, his ROTS hat or his TPM Hologram figure are possibilities, as is a deluxe version of him with the Mechno-Chair, though that must also fit a Darth Sidious Hologram figure as well.

I'd do a battle pack or something with the Mechno-chair, a Sidious Hologram re-release, a softgoods TPM Nute Gunray, and 2 Security Battle Droids, or 1 Droid and Qui-Gon or young Obi-Wan. Pilot (blue) Battle Droids would actually be more useful, come to think of it, but less appropriate for that pack.

I'm not strategically voting at all. It's relaxing not to be. I'm just plugging away at getting the figures that I need most to complete my largest dioramas. Meanwhile, many other characters that I'd eventually have voted for have been voted for and made the list anyway - like the Saurin from ANH, who I'd purchase the most of out of any of the figures competing - and Wooof, who I wanted really bad but never voted for.

I suppose with strategic voting one can make a difference. But I haven't been trying. My picks will make it eventually.

I hear yah, Tycho. I think they could insert ROTS Nute a number of nice ways that would help him sell. My DREAM would be a Mustafar Assasination set that would include: Anakin, ROTS Nute, ROTS Rune, Denaria Kee, and Rute Gunnay. Granted, that is a lot of new nemoidian sculpts, but one can dream, right?

In the end, I just hope they will toss me a bone and do the figure, stand alone. I have heard from Hasbro, in their various interviews, that four groups of figures tend to sell pretty poorly, Nemoidians, Senators, Non-jedi females, and Imp/Rebel Officers. This is really unfortunate because these groups cover many relatively important characters/variants and some of the neatest looking ones, too.

And Jeditricks, I never said Jocasta would sell. She would probably become the General Mcqaurrie of its time. I still want her, though.

Or just wrap a cloth Jedi robe around a stick. Or use one of the felt robes, they stand on their own well enough. But to say that Jocasta Nu is anywhere in the same ballpark of SW importance as Aunt Beru, or has the same number of lines, or that the lines even mattered the same, that's lunacy.

Tycho
05-13-2008, 04:02 AM
A better comparison is the Imperial Dignitaries - they never had action, importance, or lines. The most they interacted with a main character was their nods of obedience to Palpatine. It was part of the Emperor's character aura to have these underlings.

At the same time, it was part of Obi-Wan's aura to have a character - with speaking lines - help him to demonstrate how the Jedi cooperated (while the Sith subjects had to obey).

I myself appreciate Jocasta Nu for the way she helped out like The Oracle might have helped out the Justice League - only in the Scholastic Young Jedi books (Apprentice, Quest). Beyond that, she aids in making another diorama of the Jedi Temple interior - the library in this case - so one can display the heyday of the Jedi era in the Old Republic.

I understand she doesn't "sell the line" the way another Darth Vader might for a newbie, but I think we represent a majority of Old School types here amongst us long-time forum members. So solidarity behind figures we have never had made before is a nice courtesy to offer fellow fans. Jocasta Nu fits in that category nicely.

JT, you don't find something kinda cool, in a weird way, about a crazy old lady Jedi librarian with a Japanese hairdo and an inability to accept that her library may be less than perfect?

It's cooler than an army of clones with all individuality suppressed (and this explicitly stated onscreen) become a bunch of fashionistas just to sell more toys.

She's just a cool character to be honest. If they made Jocasta and gave her a book case of some sorts (Like the one's in battle front 2) this figure would be great.

It may be true Jocasta isn't as important as Beru, but she's the same type of character, and she has a lightsaber which sells to the kiddies, as aunt beru came with a droid and cup of blue milk...still never seen one at retail either. (Which says something about the demand of the figure.)

I'd say Jocasta stands a good chance of being made eventually as she's one of the last characters from ROTS that hasn't been made yet.

I want her mainly to reinact her death (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Image:Jocasta_Nu_Death.JPG) at the hands of Darth Vader as seen in the ROTS video game. Best video game cutscene ever. :D

Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader: I want acess to the temple's signal beacon.

Great choices won! I'd buy all perhaps except Uncle Owen - unless the new Owen is included in that moisture farm playset thing "Disturbance at the Lars' Homestead."

I'm glad Reegesk will be up for voting on as one of the cantina aliens.

Now I wonder with the EU if Exar Kun will be offered, as he seems strongly acknowledged by Hasbro as "coming soon." Admiral Daala would be next offered on the EU list if Kun is skipped. I personally don't care for her. If they want to do a lady Imperial from the EU, it ought to be Ysanne Isard!

Anyway, I did get Joruus C'Boath off my vote-for list, so I have to figure out who I'm adding on. Nom Anor, Leia Medical Frigate, Padme in yellow, Breah Organa are all good contenders. I think that logically, it should be Nom Anor.

With Tey How making the cut, none of the remaining figures are screaming at me. We still got some really cool ones though.

As always, I will wait and see which figures float to the top and which ones are DOA, before I cast my vote.

I will definitely vote for Taym Dren-Garen. How could you not want the guy who ACTUALLY managed to shoot Luke Skywalker! He managed to pull off what Boba Fett, an entire legion of Stormtroopers, and all of Jabba's thugs could not. Heck, only Vader and the Emperor got in more punches on ol' Luke.

I also think it is time for another Gamorrean mold. The original POTF mold was pretty good for it's day, but these characters were placed pretty prominiently in ROTJ, they deserve a second go.

I will also vote for Daultay because he is a nemoidian. Although he would not fit well into my display scheme. I have my figures arranged on seperate shelves by affiliation: CIS, Republic, Empire, Rebels, and Scum and Villiany. Dualtay was one of the unfortunate characters to not make it to AOTC, so he technically never became a separatist. He sort of falls into the same nebulous affiliation void as the ewoks, Beru, Owen, and Shmi. Not really members of the republic/alliance but not really scum and villiany, either.

Sorry for the rant. Best of luck voting, everyone!

From this latest round, the latter 3 winners are ones I have lightly supported, though I don't think I voted for any in phase 2 except Owen.

JT, you don't find something kinda cool, in a weird way, about a crazy old lady Jedi librarian with a Japanese hairdo and an inability to accept that her library may be less than perfect? No, I don't, not in the least, not in a ha-ha way, not in a serious way, not in an eye-for-detail way, not in a prequel way, certainly not in a Star Wars way. She's essentially Jira but with even less importance and screen presence.

It's cooler than an army of clones with all individuality suppressed (and this explicitly stated onscreen) become a bunch of fashionistas just to sell more toys. No, it's not, not in the least.

How do you guys think the Top 30 has turned out?

30 Finalist Choices for Figures

2 Expanded Universe
6 Prequel Trilogy Figures
22 Original Trilogy Figures

1 TPM
1 ROTS
1 SOTE (EU)
1 HTTE (EU)
3 ESB
4 AOTC
6 ROTJ
13 ANH

5 Jabba the Hutt sequence characters
11 Cantina / Mos Eisley

With these Hasbro could do:

1 Prequel Wave
2 ANH Waves
1 ROTJ Wave
1 ESB Wave, perhaps adding figures as we select more

The EU choices that we picked could easily go in comic 2-packs.

I doubt the clone's made the color/style alterations of their own accord.

My guess that was done by either:

1.) The Jedi General's to help visually distinguish their forces in joint actions.

or

2.) Was the idea of some Senator on an Armed Forces Appropriations Sub-Committee, whose world's primary export was industrial colored ink cartridges.

I'm amazed that not 1 Padme has made it yet. Disappointed actually.

You won't find me voting for Padme figures (or any other prequel human woman in a fancy dress) because I think they are all boring in the extreme. Padme I would probably buy however. Breha Organa? Queen Jamillia? Prequel Beru? Pass Pass Pass. I know some people will want to crucify me for saying that but there are other people who thing that aliens in the background of Jabba's Palace are boring too. And thats ok with me. I would however jump for figures of Swilla Corey, Jenny, Jess, Laudica, Arica (Mara Jade from the Decipher card game) and even the unnamed "little Aunt Beru" lady from the cantina because I'm nuts for figures from those locations.

I'm amazed that not 1 Padme has made it yet. Disappointed actually.

Me, too.

Padme is a main character for the Prequel Trilogy, like Han, Luke, and Leia were for the OT.

It's Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padme in AOTC and ROTS (to a degree).

In creating dioramas - agreeably that's MY hobby - she's very necessary, and her wardrobe changes every scene, driving those of us who want to set stuff up, crazy trying to make her appearance both exist and be accurate.

Furthermore, her costumes can add a lot of color from the bright yellow with the picnic dress, to the deep blues of the Loyalist Committee dress, to the exotic purple of the Queen's Return to Naboo gown.

Since they'll probably want to make these as carded figures, it was actually interesting that Padme's more bland and colorless outfits are included with her Evolutions set (TPM Pre-Senate is an interesting look though, and ROTS didn't have a lot of flash for her actually).

In any event, were there a Luke Skywalker figure not made (Medical Frigate, Death Star II - kind of confirmed though), they make the finalists if they're needed. Padme's not in "action scenes" in most of her wardrobe changes (her action scenes already have multiple figures except for her nightgown from the Zam Wessle - assasination attempt in AOTC).

So those of us who are in the hobby for reasons like my own (to make dioramas, as opposed to just collecting for the sake of collecting, or to actually play with the toys as a child might), it would appear we must always rise up and vote and plead for more Padme figures to eventually get all these outfits made.

I am thrilled by cantina aliens and Jabba's denizens, but after all, they create only 3 scenes (separating the throne room sequence from the sailbarge), and there are many more groups of SW characters that I also want to display - though in my mind, too - the cantina and Jabba's are still the best of the best.

But I am not thrilled with EU Clone repaints (as opposed to EU characters that have real stories fleshed out in the novels or comics I enjoy) or with continuous minute improvements to articulation or action features being added to core characters in their outfits I already own multiple copies of their appearance in that manner.

Regardless of whether continuing figures of Anakin and Obi-Wan in Jedi outfits they never change sell the line to newbies and variant collectors, I'm not interested in them. I'm glad they sell the line. I'll buy around "the fringes" for those never-made-before-Padmes, etc. and save money for every Anakin and Obi-Wan they come out with that I don't need (note: I want those two as they appeared non-pre-posed, in their Jedi robes, from AOTC though).

But everyone has their taste and preference.

A Queen Jamilla figure could be set up with another new Padme, Anakin in his peasant outfit, Sio Bibble (or a new likeness of him), 2 Naboo Royal Guards, 2 or more Naboo Handmaidens (new figures or multiples of the hooded handmaiden figure from the P-OTC figures). It is not an exciting scene, but the Naboo are colorful, and for those who want to recreate dioramas of the movie, frame-by-frame (for at least scenes with different characters) Jamilla is a centerpiece. Jocasta Nu works the same way for the Jedi Temple library. Beru Whitesun (Bonnie Peicies) is even more important for her scenes, even though I think "Hello" is her only line of dialogue left in the entire PT.

The diorama hobby doesn't have to come down to whether the OT or PT was better. It comes down to whether you expect to have room (especially), and funds for all these dioramas, and then how diverse each new one is from the next. Not every scene is your favorite scene. I certainly don't think the Jedi library is cooler than Jabba's Palace either. But I have funds and expect to have room for both. I also don't "collect" everything and discriminate as to what I'll buy in my own way.

tycho why weren't there more votes for wedge snowspeeder pilot?

I don't know. He still has a chance in future rounds - but it looks like other characters are wanted more, before him.

I never voted for any snowspeeder pilots for these reasons:

1) I have a Wedge snowspeeder pilot in my Echo base display. He's not focused on, the command center with Leia and General Rieeken, K-3PO, Major Derlin, hopefully Torynn Far one day, - that's my focus because its the only scene with most of these characters in it. (Wedge has X-wing and snowspeeder gear, and I've customized him in civilian clothes as he appears in the comic books)

2) My other Wedge figures are flying vehicles (snowspeeder or X-wings) and you really can only see their heads through the windows in the cockpits, so while I'm glad they weren't made wearing ladies' dresses, it doesn't matter to me how much they're detailed or articulated from the neck down.

3) I display Wedge where you can see his full-body in custom scenes in his civilian clothes, or his dress uniform, and once in his X-wing gear for the briefing on Home One before the Battle of Endor (I'm NOT making the Ewok party scene, I think).

So I'm just voting for what's useful to me. I can't say what anybody else is doing.

Yeah, I'm with all that, including the Jabba's Palace background aliens being boring. Padme just isn't an interesting character in the movies, we have TONS of figures of her already which bore me to tears, I don't need yet another figure in a ridiculous costume where she did nothing of mention. She's too passive a character, half the time she's not really even a character, just a MacGuffin. And she's not even interesting to look at like a SW alien would be, she's just a model in ridiculous fashion choices.

I think this poll shows clearly that SW fans just don't care that much about collecting Padme action figures anymore, they have enough iterations of the character, from colorful ridiculous costumes of little importance to her 2 action scenes 2 her more mature ridiculous costumes - most folks don't want EVERY costume, just a basic representation of the character in key states, and we've got that heavily covered as it is. Also, I think the more costumes they threw at her, the less importance each one had, so there's no reason to get them all unless you're a scene-completist, they mean very little otherwise.

The list is so-so to me. While there are a lot of characters on there i like, there are others i have to think why, or WTF, but to each his own, though most of my WTF comments are pointed to the Droids, and some of the lesser known or important Tattoine characters from ANH. I love a lot of those aliens, but there are 100 different characters from OT, PT, and EU that should be made before characters like Mosep...Tzizvvt ...Brainiac . Just to name a few. To bad the old CCG isn't still going, we'd have the PT fleshed out by now.

As for Padme. I have to agree with Jedi Tricks and Cane on this one. A lot of the Padme costumes are Blah, and not very exciting, as i purchase the one's they make, i do so very reluctantly. As the TAC Padme: Bondage Gear :) was a very cool idea before i seen the figure close up...then i wasn't so excited or pleased with the final product. Does Hasbro need to make every Padme? I have to say no. Should they make key out fits? Sure, as they may have importance to some scene builders out there... But for casual collectors Padme just isn't as important as other characters.

There are a lot of different people participating in the creation of enthusiasm for different Star Wars figures.

1) There are diorama builders like me, who want to set up almost every scene from every movie, and even some EU, to see what they can create to match the original media, only with toys. In this case, almost every single wardrobe change that Padme wore is important. Since there are a lot of unmade characters, resculpts and repaints aren't appreciated by this kind of Star Wars figure enthusiast all that often. Also one saves space and money by not buying the same character over and over again. Plus the originals, even on steroids as the early POTF2 were, have some nostalgia for some. They invite back memories of the hunt, midnite madnesses, and new friends made, etc. It's all part of the experience.

2) There are carded-collectors that just buy whatever, it seems. Their interest is in having every new item that comes out, sometimes even if only a variation in the packaging distinguishes it. While I don't understand this kind of collecting that well, I don't expect these collectors to be terribly concerned with the creation of specific new products like Tzizvvt. Some like Wioslea would be very unique, but a new Uncle Owen might or might not do anything for them. If they don't open their figures, it might be harder to tell if Hasbro improved any resculpts (but not always).

3) There are loose collectors, who care very much about every product improvement. They still want a new Bespin Lando with different features, for example. They're probably a mixed lot. Some want that Lando, while some would never buy him again - and still others would just want Wioslea more because we don't have that figure yet.

4) Also there are cantina / Jabba diorama enthusiasts. These purchasers of SW only want to recreate less than 5 iconic scenes in Star Wars, but because of the variety of characters and creatures, several of the OT's most diverse scenes resonate the most with them. This is why the cantina aliens conquer everything. I think the majority of fans of the figures who want diverse background characters make Mos Eisley their highest or even only priority. I'm going to love setting up the bar scene myself, but it is not my only interest.

There are other smaller, fringe groups with different interests in SW figures that determine their purchases, but these 4 might just explain the votes we are seeing.

Queen Amidala Return to Naboo was #2 in Rebelscum's TPM poll, trailing only Obi-Wan, who has already been made. Post-senate and a remake of Theed Battle are 5th and 6th. The AOTC Padmé's rank a bit lower, and ROTS lower still.

The issue with Padmé is when you combine the polls, there are other unique characters that haven't been made that end up having a wider appeal in the Phase 2 polls. In both Phase 1 and 2 polling, it seems that Padmé's success is based on a few people that rank her high, at least with the Return to Naboo version. She has done well in each round, but always drops out of the running by the end because outside of the 3 #1 votes she usually gets, there isn't as much support. The results show that anything from the Cantina keeps rising to the top, even if they were barely visible in the film.

What does the next Padme costume figure offer the bulk of collectors? Nothing but another figure of the same character, a character which didn't really resonate THAT strongly, and another kooky costume that generally has little to do in the film. Lucas gave the character little to do or say, defined her primarily by being the MacGuffin and by her wacky constant costume changes rather than make her actions and statements important. Just because Padme said "Let's go home" in 1 costume and "Let's join the Gungans" in another, that doesn't mean they both are important, in fact it means each is LESS important because the importance of those acts is split between looks.

The purple Queen's outfit can be used to finish crewing the Naboo Royal Starship playset / vehicle. (So can Sabe in black-travel, but the purple Queen's more colorful). I'm just saying from a diorama enthusiast's POV.

The Post-Senate black outfit was also worn when Nute Gunray was arrested and Palpatine arrived as the new Chancellor with all the Jedi Masters who arrived to investigate the re-emergence of the Sith. With the variety of Naboo and Jedi Council members, Senate Guards, etc., this might be fun and visually interesting to set up using many PT figures that are new to our collections (versus stuff we had some incarnation of over the past 30 years).

JediTricks' comments regarding the CHARACTER of Padme have some merits, but aren't entirely accurate. I just don't think a thread about which FIGURES to make is necessarily the place to debate this.

Even many of the most hard core collectors are not building dioramas, particularly a diorama of every scene in which Padme wears a different outfit.

TPM is considered the worst Star Wars movies by even die hard fans, so there may not be too many dioramas from that film being constructed around the coutry.

If the criticisms of Padme as a character have merit and make her a lower quality character, it would follow that she would be a less desirable action figure.

I personally will probably buy the various outfits, but would be perfectly content if they never made another Padme figure. I have enough.

I hope they make the figures you guys want though.

Yes, but the Royal Starship is a nice toy and crewing it is kind of a fun thing to do.

As to Nute's arrest scene - here's another chance to use all the members of the Jedi High Council, (and while that can go down with Anakin and Obi-Wan), Nute's arrest scene also uses the Naboo.

So even if you aren't re-creating every scene of the movies, here is one, and another with quite a memroable toy / ship / playset where you can use a lot of the figures all in single scenes.

TPM is considered the worst Star Wars movies by even die hard fans, so there may not be too many dioramas from that film being constructed around the coutry.

Maybe. But there ARE people who bought the figures and that starship. This helps them to complete some kind of display with it.

I hope they make the figures you guys want though

New additions to the voting for Round 8 will be:

Commander Praji
Pello Scrambas
Queen Amidala Post Senate Black
Jess
Corran Horn

A pretty decent voting round result:

Reegesk - made my Top 50 votes the last time, a great choice

Gamorrean Guard - not on my wishlist over other never-made-before figures, but this guy could be done very nicely

Daultay Dofine - made my Top 50 votes the last time as well, and I'd buy him, but it worries me that he'll pegwarm as much as Lushros. Release Tey How first, and wait for that figure to clear the pegs. Or do a Trade Federation Battlepack (with pilot droids!)

Nom Anor - awesome! A very worthy EU contender whom I was voting for! This could be a very cool figure. He could be put in a Crimson Empire comic 2-pack, but as a carded novel figure he'd work even better so diorama builders can buy exactly how many Nom Anors they need and not have too many extra Kir Kanoses or whomever.

Rebel Technician - the Flight Technician from Yavin Base should come with boarding ladders for figures to mount their X-wings and Y-wings and this was a figure that did very well in the previous poll - coming in at No. 11 (almost Top 10!)

As to those that came close?

FX-6
Leia Medical Frigate
Padmé Loyalist Committee
Utai
Red Leader Garven Dreis
R2-D2 Shield Bunker Damage

These are all really good choices!

Our new additions?

Commander Praji - boring
Pello Scrambas - I'd buy him, but I hate his totally stupid name
Queen Amidala Post Senate Black - she's got my vote!
Jess - who? I'll have to check the photos.
Corran Horn - yeah, the Jedi Knight from NJO maybe, but I'm not the huge Corran fan that some are.

Two of my choices made it again. But my Utai didn't get any closer - they came 9th last week as well.:( I don't collect EU, but I will buy an EU figure if it looks cool, and Nom Anor looks like he could make an awesome figure. I love the Gam Guards, but I'm not voting for resculpts just yet. Rebel Tech is a big yawn to me.

Tycho, Jess (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Jess) was a dancer at Jabba's Palace.... I could be wrong, but I think she's supposed to be Mara Jade in disguise.

Tycho, Jess (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Jess) was a dancer at Jabba's Palace.... I could be wrong, but I think she's supposed to be Mara Jade in disguise.

That was "Airica," who is not in the movie, though I think Decipher and other EU tried to say she was. (Of course that's because Tim Zhan said she was). ROTJ comics now depict her amongst the dancers, though "Airica" wasn't really there.

Her whole thing was to go on the sailbarge and when R2 launched Luke's lightsaber to him, use the Force herself to snatch it, thereby leaving the Weequay to finish Luke off (but she was assuming Luke could not fight without his saber?).

Anyway, the things people to that wind up causing them to fall in love...

Jess was a dancer/musician in Jabba's palace and was often seen with Bib Fortuna.

Arica (the correct spelling) was Mara Jade in disguise. I don't think Decipher intended to decieve anyone into thinking Arica was actually in the movie, they just wanted to make a card for the game that made sense given Mara's EU story.

In any event, I want figures of both of them. Jess has been on my wish list for a while so I'd want to see her first. Im pretty stoked that I can vote for her now!

MSP, thanks for posting that breakdown of votes by movie, solidifies things greatly I'd say. I'd appreciate you creating a final one of those when we get to the end, I'd like to include it in the packet we give Hasbro.

Look at the sharp dropoff after ROTJ!

The purple Queen's outfit can be used to finish crewing the Naboo Royal Starship playset / vehicle. (So can Sabe in black-travel, but the purple Queen's more colorful). I'm just saying from a diorama enthusiast's POV.Yes, that's the majority of collectors' primary interest.

For a second I thought you were saying the outfit was worn BY Nute Gunray. :D But again, "who cares?" is my response (you can officially always take my "who cares" to mean "who cares except for a very very small majority of collectors, usually whose collecting interests fall outside the norm"). It's a flat nothing of a scene and the action figure equivalent of a tea party.

JediTricks' comments regarding the CHARACTER of Padme have some merits, but aren't entirely accurate. I just don't think a thread about which FIGURES to make is necessarily the place to debate this.I would disagree, it's a fine place to do so because it highlights the justification for making a figure, or in Padme's case, the lack thereof.

I can't remember for certain either, but I think she was supposed to be on the barge, but for some reason couldn't make it. The Arica (http://decipher.com/starwars/cardlists/reflections2/dark/images/arica.gif) Decipher card looks different from the Jess (http://decipher.com/starwars/cardlists/jabbaspalace/light/images/jess.gif) Decipher card.

No problem on the stats. I can probably come up with a lot more things to tabulate.

Do we still want to try doing an alternate method after we get a top 50? I think having people submit a top 25 from a list that contains the top 25 from each poll would be the easiest route. If we decide to do that, I might forego my plan to come up with a top 75 via the current method as I wouldn't want to have both going at the same time. There will be over a month after the end of Round 10 before Comic-Con.

As far as the Padmé's go, they could do one a year and it would sell well enough if they got the case ratio right. If they have a TPM wave, Padmé, a podracer, Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, Darth Maul and a droid would be a pretty well rounded wave.

Mara tried to use the Force on Jabba to get on the barge so she could fulfill her mission, he thought she was trying to kill her so she had her pulled out of rotation.

If we have time, which it looks like we will, an alternate method might be fun, 2 rounds, lists of 25.

Top 75 seems a bit much to me, we're already kinda scraping the bottom of the barrel at 50.

I don't think we're scraping the bottom yet because there are still a lot of figures I haven't had a chance to vote for, either because they aren't available yet, or I had other figures I chose to vote on instead.

"Arica" didn't actually get on the sail barge, and I'm not sure if she had a plan. JT's right: the whole thing about her snatching the lightsaber was a dream Luke had. She had no idea where the saber was hidden.

I personally feel that we're starting to reach the bottom of the barrel also. From the choices given, I only feel really strongly about my top two (Ackbar and Ponda Baba), the other three I could easily be talked out of. I know that Taym-dren Garen shot Luke in the hand, but the human guards are just not extremely exciting to me.

I don't think I've voted for a single PT figure yet and I know I haven't voted for any EU figures.

I personally feel that we're starting to reach the bottom of the barrel also.

That is a point that an exercise such as this poll should be driving home to a majority of the fans here: that's "it's over."

Your choices are from the bottom of the barrel (OT only for the die-hards, figures like Taym-dren Garen, who I still think would be cool), never-made-yet PT figures (especially Padme, though I realize the Utai have a lot of merit), and the EU for those of us that would like to keep things interesting and varied, and continuing for a little while longer (as long as good EU sources like NJO are tapped, and "Children of the Jedi" and books like that aren't even approached with a 10 foot pole!)

Or quitting.

I don't know how many people can stick around and get excited by the next minute improvement in the articulation of a Darth Vader or Luke Tatooine figure.

I don't think others who do quit should stick around the forums - by that I mean the toy-matter-subject-sections, and not our larger community - if they are just going to be negative and put down everything. It hurts the fun and enthusiasm that others can still share. I don't want to lose board-members - we're like a family here - but all I'm saying is that for some who will quit collecting, the temptation for causing trouble will probably be there. We don't need that either. For those who can do happy-flips over Yuuzhan Vong figures, just let us bounce off the rubber walls. We're not harming you. But we tried to leave you Treva Horme, Wiorkettle, Utriss M'Toc and so on as some consolation, so you'd have some OT figures you could look forward to - if they're the only "new ones" left.

I'd like them to get into Jude Watson's work. She's writing pretty much the only EU that doesn't suck now.

Wait, Last of the Jedi is over. There is no good EU left. I'm going to go pour myself a nice tall glass of Greedo and drown my sorrows. Hopefully I don't get so drunk that I fall in love with a computer and download my mind into the Death Star.

I really liked the Jedi Apprentice series, but still haven't read the Jedi Quest ones yet. I read the first Last of the Jedi book. I'm so far behind. I'd like to start from the beginning and go through chronologically. If I get to one of the less than stellar post-ROTJ stand alone novels and don't feel like reading it again, maybe I'll just read a summary on Wookieepedia or something. I won't mind reading the X-Wing books or the Han Solo books again. Seeing Rogue and Wraith Squadron figures would be cool.

How would you propose the two rounds work?We could do "order this list of 25" and then the next tier the same thing, or give them 2 sets of 5 and each they pick their top 25 from. I just don't think folks are going to want to do top 50 all at once, they won't participate.

Let's finish THIS approach to the polling first. There's a vote closing today for 36-40, and then we have 10 more slots to fill with 2 final calls for votes.

Meanwhile, I think this whole thread should be moved to the new Legacy Collection section (whichever is the most modern-line section for the SW toy forums).

MadSlantedPowers already seems to have made the decision to start running the final polls in that section as well.

We thought that might be attibutable to the sudden drop in participation the polls seem to have encountered - which I gather had occured at the same time the new toy section opened.

So please move this thread.

Since we will only have a little over a month, I'm thinking that we just have people submit one list of 25 and tally the results. That seems to be more in line with what people were suggesting as an alternative to my method. Doing it in more than one part makes it more like my method. I agree submitting a list of 50 would be too much, so keeping it at 25 will be a bit more manageable for people.

Sure, move it to the new section.

What's the point of this then?I'm not sure what you are questioning. The point is that we did it my way and some people didn't like the method. I don't think it was a perfect method either. So, I'm suggesting we do what Droid and others suggested to being with. Have people submit one list. I'll provide the lists of the top 25 from each poll and people can select their top 25 overall. I was agreeing with you that submitting a list of 50 would be too much work for people. However, what you suggested a few posts back sounded like it would involve multiple parts, which is what we have already been doing with my method. Maybe I misunderstood.

I also agree that we shouldn't wait to discuss this because I'll want to start shortly after Round 10 ends in two weeks to give us as much time before Comic-Con. Before we begin, I'll also post the lists here to be sure we can agree which figures to leave off due to having been announced.

I mean "is this for fun, or will there be some statistical point to this list, and if so, what?"

Anyway, a top 25 list is ok I guess, but it can't be out of 25 choices, that's for sure.

BTW, I really hated the outcome of this round. Those are some dubious results. This is why I like a bigger sampling of voters, less chance to wonder if results were anomalous.

I mean "is this for fun, or will there be some statistical point to this list, and if so, what?"Well, when Tycho turned in his list before, they also got Kidhuman's list. They were arrived at by different methods, but had many of the same results. That's what I forsee with this.

Anyway, a top 25 list is ok I guess, but it can't be out of 25 choices, that's for sure.It will be out of 175 choices (25 from each movie and from the EU). That might make it difficult for some to narrow down their choices. I know I'll have some trouble figuring out which ones I want the most. That will only be an average of less than four from each poll. I could easily vote for mostly EU, but there are still a lot of movie figures that I will want to vote for first.

BTW, I really hated the outcome of this round. Those are some dubious results. This is why I like a bigger sampling of voters, less chance to wonder if results were anomalous.Somewhat anomalous maybe, but giving the popularity of the OT, especially ANH and ROTJ, it isn't too surprising that Jess and Taym Dren-garen made it. Baniss Keeg is yet another Cantina alien on the list, which shouldn't be too much of a shock. Ratts and the Utai were the winners of their movie polls, so it makes sense that they have finally made the list.

Yoda Spirit? Where'd that one come from? I must have overlooked it in the early rounds.Yep, we'd like to see one done in the newer style like OTC Obi-Wan or TAC Anakin, rather than the blue POTF2 versions.

Well I for one am pleased with the results of this round. It has kept the trend of at least two of my choices each round making it to the list. I am pretty happy with this voting method. When it was first pitched, I was a little skeptical only because my limited intellect prevented me from completely comprehending it :D. But I think it's working pretty well, at least in my favor for the most part ;).

I was a little disappointed that so few people voted, so I'm aware that that throws a cloud of skepticism over the unlikely winners. I figured the Utai would make it in, but Jess and Tayme dren-garen I thought were too much of generic humans for people to really be interested in action figures of them. There are rumors galore of an upcoming Ratts Tyerell figure so I thought that would mean less people were voting for him as a result. Baniss Keeg was a bit of a suprise as well, as I honestly couldn't predict how people would take yet another potentially pegwarming Duros/ Neimoidian.

None of my votes made it this round, but two figures I'd happily buy were picked by many of the rest of you:

The Utai are definitely a good choice.
Taym-Dren Garen was one I always liked. He shot Luke. I mean that's something.

Baniss Keeg bores me. I put a "Leia Collection" Luke Ceremony gold jacket on Elors Madak back in 2001 and I was done with it.

Rats Tyrell might be coming anyway, now that they molded Master Tsu Choi for the Order 66 packs, so I think he could have been a wasted vote. I got Dud Bolt, my favorite previously unproduced podracer. Next I like several racers from the cartoon that I don't think got seen in TPM: Aldar Beedo and Wan Sandage. Meanwhile, Quadrinaros always just seems to narrowly miss the list and he'd made mine and Kidhuman's Top 50 before, but now it would appear he's lost just a little bit of crucial appeal.

Jess? - is really pushing it for background ladies. Why not Nyrat Agira or several others more scantily clad from the Outlander versus this one hardly noteworthy figure from Jabba's Palace? It seems like she made it for completely PT-bias reasons. Not to say I wouldn't buy Jess' figure. I'd buy 2 and put one in the Outlander anyway. But I have to scratch my head and wonder why Jess makes it ahead of the others, and Padme as well - a female but actual main-character with many figures of her still lacking.

Seems like a lot of us like R2-D2 Shield Bunker Damage.....13 points on 5 votes (1,0,2,0,2), but just don't rank him high enough.

I'm also surprised that Edian – Black Bespin Guard.....11 points on 3 votes (1,1,0,1,0) hasn't made it yet.

Amongst the new additions for the next poll:

Red Leader's R5 Unit - eh
Kitster - I'd vote for him if we had Wald coming first.
Warok - it'd be nice to get all the vintage redone, but I think Warok will be coming
Yoda Spirit - eh. I didn't go for the Spirit of Hayden, so I don't need Yoda.
Padmé with hair buns - she's getting my vote. I need her to complete the Landing Platform Scene.

Looking at Tycho's recent vote, I'm wondering what will happen if the Padmes continue to pile up and you end up with nothing but Padmes and Queen Amidalas to vote on for all three prequel films.lol

I'm already there. 4 of my votes were for Padme, 1 for Queen Jamilla, and I dropped my support for the Midwife Droid from ROTS for the meanwhile.

I'd like that Black Bespin Guard and the Solo kids as Jedi, Adm. Palleon, Red Leader, Leia Medical Frigate, Bariss, Lumat and Warok, and Breah Organa, but from the figures available to us to vote for, I think the Padmes are the most important to completing my dioramas. They're main-characters for the Force's sake!

Your point seemed to be that Hasbro was ignoring him despite the fan interest, yet he didn't make Rebelscum's finals and he didn't make the top 50 in our poll. So, the fan interest doesn't seem to be there other than a few that really really want him. I'd still buy him though. I just haven't read the Marvel series. So, when I was voting in the EU poll, I pretty much stuck to stuff I was familiar with. When possible, I tried to pick characters that appeared in multiple stories. That was kind of how I decided which Rogue/Wraith squadron pilots to pick. That's also why I would pick a couple figures that finished just behind Jaxxon: Garm Bel Iblis and Kam Solusar.

I just made an all-genre Top 25 list just in case that's needed for a different style poll.

I chose:

1) Movie figures that I absolutely needed to complete my scenes, prioritized from the largest to the smallest (this is how I got 4 Padmes that I have to have, as well as the Lars family).

2) EU that completes scenes I've already started (this is where I included Exar Kun for example, because we now have Mandalore, and even if Hasbro said they are making Exar, I want to make sure they know I want him). The Solo kids and Nom Anor, plus single-carded Yuuzhan Vong had to qualify here.

I have some concern that I'd waste votes on figures that Hasbro is already making, but I have to wait and read MadSlantedPowers' rules about who's eligible before I go any further with that.

If my list were to be compared to our final poll results we're achieving with the current method, probably 14 / 25 figures might be the same as everyone else's (depending upon how the 4 Padmes I want do as the competition to make this list closes).

Are a lot of you new to collecting and not have Admiral Ackbar and Ponda Baba?

Ackbar and Baba were first introduced into the line in 1997. So I guess it's possible.

I think that Ackbar is perfect and don't require a better sculpt or super-articulation for that character. It's useless if you ask me. I like the figure I already own.

Ponda Baba was re-released with bending knees or something between 2003 and 2004 I believe, in one of the K-Mart or Wal-Mart exclusive bar sets. He might have had a removeable arm, but other than that, I don't think the figure needed any improvement. I think I bought that set probably just to get the bar, and I customized a Ponda Baba with droid arm attachment as was described in the EU, by dismantling a 2-1B that I used for the Jabba Droid Torture Dungeon scene.

But as I noted, I was around and buying the figures in 1997 and unless I didn't have them, would not at all be enthusiastic about Hasbro revisiting these characters over others that they have never done.

I'm sure a loose or MOMC '97 Ackbar and '97 Baba are available easily enough through private sellers now. What the heck would you do to update these guys?

Mad Slanted Powers
05-31-2008, 02:17 PM
I wouldn't mind seeing a new Ackbar. I think a new Nien Nunb would probably be more necessary in terms of improving the sculpt, as he has a bit of the bulkiness of the early figures. I'm not too interested in a new Ponda Baba. I was pretty impressed with the Cantina Bar one with the bending knees, but I would get a new one if they made him. He would be a good candidate for the Vintage line when it returns.

In preparation for the alternate method, I want to be sure I exclude all the figures that have been announced. I'll begin by posting the list again for ANH. Only 25 will be eligible to be voted on, but I'm listing the top 30 here in case some in the top 25 need to be removed. I've crossed out ones I believe have been announced. Please chime in if there are other solid announcement that should require the removal of any of these figures from the list.

1. Dr. Evazan
2. Brea Tonnika
3. Wioslea
4. Senni Tonnika
5. Bom Vimdin
6. Brainiac

I've been collecting since '97, and already have Ackbar and several Ponda Babas in my collection, and I've been reluctant to vote for resculpts up until now.... but from the choices left, there's very little else I want. Sorry Tycho, but I don't particularly want any more Padmes - I don't really like the character, and find figures of her very boring. Having said that, I wouldn't mind if she was made with the Leia hair buns, as it would provide a nice link between OT and PT, but I would still rather get an SA Ponda Baba or Ackbar of VOTC quality first.

In a Q&A with Hasbro, 3 or 4 ANH cantina figures were listed, and I think they included Arleil Schous and Brainiac, as well as a human midget, and Bom Vimdim.

Hasbro's response was "we've planned for one of those for sure." It isn't confirmation of Bom Vimdim, but he is the most likely since he's the most recognizeable of that group (and most different from Lak Sivrak).

But I want Bom Vimdim, so I'm not advocating that you take him off the list as the more support that's shown for him, the better.

Finally, the Queen made it. I wonder if one of her votes was legitimate, because there are new forum members voting who've never posted before. I'm just questioning whether they are really newbies or people with extra log-ins. The latter would not be me. If I made a second profile for myself, it'd be as "The Anti-Tycho" and I'd post-pad by debating myself in the Rancor Pit. :crazed: Or I'd be "The Attorney Tycho," and agree with everything that I just posted in an immediately preceeding thread.

Anyway, I'd buy all the figures the rest of you voted for except Ponda Baba, as I already posted why I see no need for him.

Lumat's the best other new finalist, as I want all the vintage figures re-made for the modern line.

It still concerns me about how bad the black Bespin Guard is doing. I can't justify voting for him right now, but I'd have certainly liked that figure over a few we've voted for as a group now.

I think Wald and Paploo are great additions we're adding to the list for would-be finalist possibilities. The Naboo Pilot in the trench coat might also be a worthy addition. They could re-release the N-1 fighter again at some point, too.

A lot of the support she had in earlier rounds disappeared when those people, mostly newbies, did not vote in later rounds. All four votes she received this round were first place votes. The lower turnout helped her this round, as this time she was able to get by on the strength of those few but high ranking votes.

Cool for the Queen. Attached is a custom from somewhere that shows how cool a soft-goods version of this figure could be for diorama builders (to put in the Royal Starship).

Meanwhile, these are the figures that were formerly Top 50 winners who still have not placed in the new poll with the added competition from ROTS and the EU that they did not have before. (Although really, huge turnout of support for ANH and ROTJ selections have been really what's contributed to the change, IMO).

Queen Jamilla
Keeolkeech -Ewok warrior (didn't place over other Ewoks)
R2D2 Endor Shielf Bunker
Padme Loyalist Committee (Palpatine's Office)
Treva Horme (Cloud City alien who didn't place high enough to be offered)

Yeah, I can really see why you'd want a figure of that. Another clown-faced, sitting, unimportant version of the character, only now she has bags over her hair, whoopee. Lame.

This poll confirms for me what I feared, the smaller samplings of voters has created anomalies in the results. Look at how different the top 15 results here are.

The funny thing is, out of this round, the ONLY figure I'd consider buying is Ponda Baba.

Good job! I think we should give MSP an achievement sticker! ;)

9/10 of MSP's Top 10 were also from my previous poll's Top 50 (EU's Guri is the only new addition)
20/45 (at present) in MSP's Top 45 were also voted in my Top 50 (MSP's poll's not done yet)
22/50 of my previous Top 50 were already made into action figures between 2005 and 2008:

Hem Dazon
General Veers
Herme Odle
Lando Smuggler
CZ-4
Yarna dal Gargan
Moff Jerjerrod
R5D4
General Tagge
Han Bespin Torture Chair
Colonel Wulf Yularen
M'iiyoom Onith
Jango Fett (Kamino Apartment)
Luke Endor Gear
Elis Helrot
Anakin AOTC
Major Derlin
Clone Trooper (Training Gear)
Chief Chirpa
Rep Been
Biggs Darklighter (Academy Uniform)
Padme Black Leather Temptation

17 /22 made were OT choices
5 were prequel choices (3 of those, main characters: Jango, Anakin, Padme)

Any way you cut it, the OT has more fan-love, though the PT has more choices for unmade figures.

But MSP's poll shows ANH and ROTJ STILL dominating the demand for unmade figures even as we hit the bottom of the barrel (Jess???)

8 ANH figures got made
4 ESB figures got done
5 ROTJ were made

With the prequels

4 AOTC figures were made
1 TPM figure was made (Rep Been) - though we also got Gragga who came close to making this list.

There were still some ROTS to be made if you look at 2006 and Commander Cody especially, but the movie had not even been released when I did my poll, so entries were not offered for ROTS. As it turns out, that movie, while the most popular prequel, has been best-covered by Hasbro and has garnered the least amount of support for characters to be made from it in all of MSP's polls.

Luke Death Star II
Admiral Ackbar

Your ROTJ list looks up to date to me.

Meanwhile, Padme from Palpatine's Office and Queen Jamilla don't seem to be remaking the finalists.

They were definitely scene-completers that I needed for my dioramas. Hopefully Hasbro will not overlook these ladies.

Admittedly, the Padme will probably get done and would sell well enough to be single-carded and thus not require being backed in an Evolutions.

But for AOTC, they repeated Arena Padme again!!! (whereas TPM and ROTS got all-new figures).

Arena Padme has 3 different variations at least (not counting multi-packs)

Anyway, Queen Jamilla is a little more obscure, and admittedly boring, but she placed before and was being voted for. Her support just seemed to have evaporated in this final round. She's more useful than ROTS' Queen Appelina or whatever her name was. Jamilla had speaking lines.

The blue battle droids are available in the Toys R Us exclusive Geonosis Droid Army Battle Pack: there are 2 STAPs with blue battle droid pilots and one silver Super Battle Droid.

The paint schemes are really cool actually and I'd buy some of these if I could make use of them.

However, I think people really still want the blue battle droid to be single-carded.

I do.

[EDIT] Freakin' Ewoks are now overrunning votes for Padme. At least the furballs need to be made so that all the vintage gets updated in the modern collection. - But then where's the love for the Black Bespin Guard? Or the Hoth Rebel Soldier?

A sort of disappointing end with the results of the final 5 chosen (but most of the Top 50 are great!).

I suppose Admiral Ackbar is the only figure of the last group that I would NOT see a reason to buy.

Wald and Kitster I’d definitely get at least 2-3 of, but they’re just not that exciting. They did always linger close to making a polled-for wishlist though.

Warok is needed to complete the vintage figure update for the modern line. That was a smart choice.

Now as much as I’m into the Expanded Universe, I’m just not on top of the fans’ list that backs Corran Horn. And was it ever settled if this is to be a NJO Knight figure of him, or CorSec, Rogue Squadron, what? (I vote for NJO)

Meanwhile, there are 8 potential figures that were formerly Top 50 winners who never placed in the new poll with the added competition from ROTS and the EU that they did not have before. (Although really, huge turnout of support for ANH and ROTJ selections have been really what's contributed to the change, IMO).

Queen Jamilla
Keeolkeech -Ewok warrior (didn't place over other Ewoks)
R2D2 Endor Shielf Bunker
Padme Loyalist Committee (Palpatine's Office)
Treva Horme (Cloud City alien who didn't place high enough to be offered)
black Bespin Guard
Mommy Ewok (Leektar isn't female, right?)
Tonbuck Toora (seems Hasbro indicated she's slated)*

But I still want to know where's the love for the Black Bespin Guard? Or the Hoth Rebel Soldier? The Human B-wing Pilot is supposedly packed with the re-release of the fighter ship. The Imperial Cmdr. was probably best represented by Praj and was close all along. The oft-seen Saga Legends “Imperial Officer” probably suffices for many people, though that jumpsuit wearing Imp is of lower rank.

So out of our votes:

32 /50 voted for were OT choices
14 were prequel choices
4 were expanded universe (Guri, Joruus C’Boath, Nom Anor, Corran Horn)

Any way you cut it, the OT has more fan-love, though the PT has more choices for unmade figures.

But MSP's poll shows ANH and ROTJ STILL dominating the demand for unmade figures even as we hit the bottom of the barrel.

ANH - 17
ROTJ - 12
TPM - 8
AOTC - 4
EU - 4
ESB - 3
ROTS - 2

And MSP, based on your stats, Red Leader would not have made the Top 50 list anyway, so that was a good call about allocating the points from the voter who didn't follow your directions (only Hasbro can create 2-packs).

Looks like Bariss and Paploo came the closest to making our list of the ones that failed which I liked.

I wished another Padme had gotten further, as well as R2 Endor Shiled Bunker Damage.

Is it over? I thought we were doing a list of 75 or some really high number? I had argued for 50, but didn't know that it was decided that would be the number.

I am really pleased with the final list. The only four figures I really care about that didn't make the list are the Black Bespin Guard, Breha Organa (who is rumored anyway), Shas Tiel, and the Emperor from the formation of the Empire speech (I never expected him to make the list). Shasa Tiel would have been in the running for the first time in the next round and I think would have made the cut in the next round.

I am really surprised that the Black Bespin Guard and Leia Medical Frigate didn't make the list. I think that if it was a one on one match up between either of those figures and Jess (I still don't know what that is), Jess would get creamed.

Great list. It was fun. Thanks for putting it together!

Yay Horn made the list, though i hope it's NJO Horn as that's the only one that really matters. (Though X-Wing pilot wouldn't be bad...just not as cool as a jedi.) I actually had nine figures make the cut. Great job on the poll MSP.

Is it over? I thought we were doing a list of 75 or some really high number? I had argued for 50, but didn't know that it was decided that would be the number. That was my original plan, but once we decided to do the alternate method like you originally argued for, we decided to just stop at 50 rather than have two different polls going on.

Starting this weekend sometime, I'll start a new thread for the alternate poll. In this, you will be able to vote for your top 25 from the 175 figures that made the top 25 of the seven individual Phase 1 polls.
This will be to see how the results compare with two different methods. Tycho and Kidhuman did two different polls the last time something like this was done, and many of the results were the same.

If I start Sunday night June 15 and keep it open for four weeks, it will be completed ten days before Comic-Con.

I'm very pleased with the end results. Most of the figures I voted for did not make the finalists, however, I was stressing my priorities for my dioramas which came down mostly to getting Padme in there.

Of the final 50, I'd buy almost all of them and would have eventually voted for 44 of those characters except:

11. Dr. Evazan (ANH)
12. General Grievous (ROTS)
29. Uncle Owen (ANH)
32. Gamorrean Guard (ROTJ)
42. Ponda Baba (ANH)
47. Admiral Ackbar (ROTJ)

all of whom are resculpts that I don't need. Certainly there are some that are on our list that I'm less enthusiastic about, but I'd buy all but the 6 above.

19 / 50 from MSP's list match the remaining 28 figures that were never made from my original Top 50 voted list.

The 9 who didn't get repeated support were:

R2D2 Lightsaber Launcher resculpt
Queen Jamilla
Keeolkeech (Ewok)
R2D2 Shield Bunker Damage
Padme Senator (Loyalist Committee)
Treva Horme (Cloud City cut scene alien)
Black Bespin Guard
Mommy Ewok
Tonbuck Toora (supposedly slated by Hasbro anyway, though Rogwa is who we want)

Of those, the R2s actually have merit. I'd cry over the Padme that I believe is so necessary, as is Queen Jamilla. The Ewoks would be fun. The lack of turn-out for the Black Bespin Guard - a vintage not yet updated, surprised me. And I'd always advocate Cloud City being an under-tapped source for new classic figures from the OT, so I see Treva Horme being a better choice than other people, I guess.

Some of you guys have obviously seen this:

Rumors of figures we voted for being revealed at Comic Con (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38214)

Thank Beast for bringing this to the site's attention.

From our votes:

General Grevious
Brainiac (Cantina Patron)
Trinto Duaba with Dice Ibegon (Cantina Patrons)
Jawa & WED-15 Droid
Wioslea

That could be 6 off our list right there!

Also seriously cool (in my opinion):

Bail Organa (hopefully Senate scene or Speeder Pilot from Order 66 - rumor is Senate)
Breha Organa
Emperor Palpatine (formation of Empire speech or Yoda Duel? Latter would be especially cool)
FX-6

[UPDATE (courtesy of Rebelscum)]:

The Empire Strikes Back Basic Figures

2-1B (Medical Droid) (again?)

Bespin Security Guard (an ethnic black variant?! Hopefully)

Captain Needa - on our list!

Imperial Probe Droid

Luke Skywalker (Dagobah) - this could be cool with the molded Bespin jacket open - if only.

Luke Skywalker (Medical Frigate) - on our list!

Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Spirit) - came close

Princess Leia (Medical Frigate) - came REALLY close

Rebel Hoth Soldier - needed if it's the modernization of the vintage

Toryn Farr - on our list!

Ugnaughts (2-Pack?) - cool!

Willrow Hood (the infamous Ice Cream Maker Guy) - expected and very cool!

Now that makes 9 off our list! (But these reports are RUMORS only - they just have a high probability of coming true for 2009 and 2010).

Is Rebelscum done with their wishlist poll? I'd like to see how our picks and their forum readers' match up side-by-side.

Any similarities obviously strengthen our case, as will results from MSP's alternate method poll.

As I noted, there are 19 figures that won a listing in MSP's poll who were also winners from my 2004-2005 poll. Most likely, they were also winners in Kidhuman's 2005 poll as well, for only 14 of his winners differed from mine. By simple math, that means at least 4 are surely amongst the top requested (obviously Cliegg, Owen, Beru, and Sim Aloo for easy starters - but I'm sure the count is much closer to 19 figures as well - maybe even more.)

I'm not certain if they are done yet. They might still have some EU polls going, plus I think they plan on doing something to combine all the lists somehow.

I forgot about one EU figure I need to take off the list, and that is Kyle Katarn. He is planned for a 2009 Comic Pack.

I don't know why you felt the need to have 9 rules, or why you needed to explain to them how your points system worked, or how you will tally results. So it's really 6 rules. :p

A quick skim looked fine.

EDIT: The naboo pilot trench coat link is malformed, it has part of the VB code in it, and removing it didn't have the right URL.

Also, you'll need to differentiate the 3 Owen Lars's and other repeaters.

EDIT: The naboo pilot trench coat link is malformed, it has part of the VB code in it, and removing it didn't have the right URL.I think it was also a bad link or something too once I fixed it. I was using an older source that I used to create the Phase 1 postings, and I think they weren't necessarily the final posts I used for them. I got that one fixed now.

Also, you'll need to differentiate the 3 Owen Lars's and other repeaters.I think he was the only one that needed differentiation. Beru has a different last name. I've fixed the Owens though.

I just voted in "Phase 3". Maybe I wasn't paying attention, but which results are getting sent to Hasbro? Yes, Kidhuman and I used different methods to garner Top 50 lists, but 36 / 50 of the results were the same, though in a slightly different preferred order.

Hasbro was impressed that no matter which way you cut it, figures like Hem Dazon and General Veers were shown to be solidly demanded by our participants.

I think that the more MSP's 2 poll styles correlate their results, as well as results totally independently obtained by Rebelscum (and JediDefender seems to be doing some polling as well) - fandom will have spoken. It would appear figures not made yet, like Wioslea and Cliegg Lars should have established undeniable demand by the time those results are all compared!

[EDIT] Ha! Aside from the Noghri, I think that thus far, 24 of my highest priority figures were NO ONE ELSE'S, LOL. I like others mostly OT choices and I'd buy the majority of them, but they are not required to complete any dioramas I'm creating.

Can you refer to Wooof as Wooof (vintage Klaatu from Jabba's palace)?

Can you refer to Taym Dren-garen as Tyam Dren-garen (skiff guard that shot Luke)?

I don't know if everyone will click the link to see who Wooof and Taym are.

They're both great choices for figures, that's who they are. They don't make or break my dioramas, so that's the only reason why I didn't vote for them. I really hope Hasbro makes both these figures, especially since Wooof represents one of the last Vintage that needs a modern update. Taym's just cool lookin' too.

The following figures were voted for in my poll and are listed below as they ranked in MSP's poll. They were most likely also chosen in Kidhuman's poll.

1. Cliegg Lars
3. Wioslea
4. Brea Tonnika
5. Owen Lars
6. Bom Vimdim
7. Beru Whitesun
8. Sim Aloo
9. Senni Tonnika
10. Wooof
17. Sgt. Doallyn
19. Saurin (Hrchek Kal Fas)
20. Luke Skywalker (Medical Frigate)
22. Torryn Far
24. Jocasta Nu
30. Tey How
31. Reegesk
33. Daultay Dofine
35. Rebel Flight Tech
41. Ben Quadrinaros
44. Queen Amidala (purple gown) Return to Naboo

If some of these figures continue to place well in the new phase of the polling, we really will have a super-strong-case for them.

Are these the original lists? They seem very incomplete. Or maybe I'm just noticing more figures I'd want (other Bail Organas, U-3PO, Lars garage Padmé, etc.) that are not here, and I'm not sure if they've always been gone. Can there be write-ins, or is the time for that gone?

#15 in our phase 2 results list has been confirmed in all but name for this Fall: "I hope you temper your language around your sons when we finally reveal the pictures of this great wave! There will be *four* Cantina denizens in the wave this Fall, two of them coming in one pack. One of the characters will be Lak Sivrak's lover, which should be enough of a hint for you to be doubly excited."

The way I interpretted things, off MSP's poll results list, indications (rumors) are we will be getting:

3. Wioslea
6. Bom Vimdim
11. Dr. Evezan
12. General Grievous
15. Dice Ebegon
16. Brainiac
19. Saurin
20. Luke Medical Frigate
22. Torryn Far
23. Captain Needa
24. Jocasta Nu
27. Trinto Duaba
29. Uncle Owen (ANH)
31. Reegesk
32. Gamorrean Guard
42. Ponda Baba

And some of these will probably just pan out to be rumors - though they are not too far-fetched to see by 2010.

Whatever's shown at Comic Con we won't get until nearly 2009 anyway.

Tycho, where have you seen Bom Vimdin rumoured? I've not seen him on any rumour lists yet, which I've found really disappointing.

Tycho
06-21-2008, 05:47 PM
A past Q&A asked about cantina patrons and mentioned 4 potentials including Bom Vimdim, Arleil Schos, Dice Ebegon, and the Saurin I think. Hasbro responded that they wanted to do at least 3 of those for 2008 or if not 2009.

Actually, I think one of the choices was a human midget and not the Saurin now that I think about it. Anyway, with Lak Sivrak and the Wolfman Jedi from last year's wave 8, I thought they'd get away from werewolves and Schos wouldn't be slated. While I want Vimdim very badly, his actually being produced wouldn't surprise me. He's pretty recognizeable.

Now that Uncle Owen figure leaves me thinking it's pretty much the 1997 repack shoved in the homestead battlepack. I can't see 2 different Owen figures in '08 - and if there was a new and improved one - why would the old one be backed with a cool, new playset piece?

Mad Slanted Powers
06-21-2008, 07:56 PM
I'll leave the choices as is for the remainder of the poll. If people want to change their votes, that will be fine. I chose not to vote for Dice based on the recent revelation. Still, it was tough to choose and rank the figures I wanted. I tried to keep things in the order I voted for them in Phase 1, but there were some figures that moved up a lot, like the Naboo pilot (I think I voted for a couple specific pilots, but those votes got converted to generic pilot).

I ended up only voting for one Padmé - the Return to Naboo outfit. I would like to have at least included the AOTC Loyalist Committee and ROTS Leia hair buns figures, but I left them off.

I voted ANH Owen #1 in the Phase 1 poll, but left him off here completely. I probably should have found space for him, because if the Battle Pack is just the POTF2 version, he should be near the top of the list for wanted figures.

I didn't vote for any ROTJ figures. I almost included Yoda spirit, but didn't have room for him. My breakdown of figures was:

TPM - 4
AOTC - 4
ROTS - 1
ANH - 5
ESB - 2
ROTJ - 0
EU - 9

Tycho
06-21-2008, 11:49 PM
My breakdown of figures was:

9 AOTC
8 Expanded Universe
5 TPM
3 ROTS

I voted for Zero OT figures - not because I don't want them, but I'll have cantina or Jabba scenes without them anyway. I just can't create the prequel scenes or some of the EU stuff I want to do without the characters I voted for.

Hasbro is not going to abandon classic Star Wars for sure, anyway. It's by far more popular with the fan votes.

So I'll be very glad to buy cantina and Jabba figures - and Cloud City is too often overlooked!

I still haven't been able to determine if Wiorkettle, Treva Horme, or Utriss M'toc appeared in the movie at all.

I was comparing our results to Rebelscum. These figures are ones that are in our current poll, but did not make the cut for their voting.

ANH
Trinto Duaba
Mosep Binneed
Reegesk
Commander Willard
Imperial Officer (grey uniform)
John D. Branon (Red 4)

ESB
Treva Horme
Wiorkettle
Lando Calrissian
Utriss M'Toc
Leia Bespin Escape
Luke Dagobah
Hobbie
Lennox

ROTJ
R2-D2 Shield Bunker Damage (they combined all their R2 votes into ANH as an R4-G9 repaint)
Jess
Warok
Yoda spirit
TT-8L
Geezum
Funeral Pyre Vader
Fozec
Worrt

TPM
Aldar Beedo
Boles Roor
Ark "Bumpy" Roose
Ebe Endocott
Greblieps
Gardulla the Hutt

AOTC
Hermione Bagwa
Cordé
Captain Typho
Nyrat Agira
Naboo Holy Man
Battle Droid Commander
FA-4
Padmé packing to leave
Padmé balcony nightgown

ROTS
Owen Lars
Beru Lars
Bulkier Polis Masson with helmet
Bail Organa airspeeder pilot
Lampay Fay
Maneeli Tuun
Rune Haako
Padmé after Anakin turns

I didn't compare EU since they had 4 different EU polls.

Reading this from Jedi Temple Archives, it seems unlikely we'll see BV until ay least 2010....

QUESTION: It's interesting to periodically ask the staff at Hasbro what characters they happen to be lobbying for as the line continues to be planned. Can we press the Hasbro staff for their own wishlists of OT and PT characters that they'd like to get into the 2009 line?

ANSWER: We think you are asking more about those "personal favorites" that the team members suggest for those few, valuable, hotly contested "collector-focused" figure spots, resulting in debates that often generate fisticuffs and parking lot sabotage when team members don't get their way. But we digress....We went around the team and surveyed, and some personal-favorite figures that have yet to make it into the lineup include OTC characters, like, more Cantina patrons including Bom Vindin and, among others, Yerka Mig, Toryn Farr and Fozec (and other Jabba's palace denizens), while Prequel Trilogy figures we'd like to see someday include Ann & Tann Gella, additional pod racer pilots (the Gran especially), Varactyl, FA-4, the Mon Calamari dancers from the opera, Lava Flea, and Cin Drallig. We have not yet drawn up 2010m but will soon, and we're hopeful that some of these will make the cut.

Looking at some of these list really reinforces how different the collectors desires are for figures. I look at some of these and can't believe what I'm seeing. Not that this is a bad thing. As I've stated multiple places that I'm PT-ed and EU-ed out (for the most part), but I understand that fans of those have lists that are radically different. I can see the Lars clan in the top 10 even, but now I've seen two people vote Kitster above Bom Vimdin. No matter how you look at that, it's just crazy. :Ponder: But even crazier, I guess that I expect the pure-OT fans to think just like me and none of you has the same figures in the same order! What's wrong with you guys? :D

eliwankenobi, did you read the point system on this thread? For instance, your 3rd vote of Rebel Technician receives 23 points for that vote, where your 24th vote (Wooof) receives only 2 points. That may be what you want, but the object is to rate your top 25 most wanted figures out of the list from 1 - 25, which in your case may be all ANH, then ESB, then ROTJ... but it just seems highly improbable.

35 of the same figures were chosen with either method.

Some of those that didn't make it, might be because they are now confirmed figures: Trinto, Dice, Wioslea, Brainiac (I think Brainiac's confirmed - I'll have to re-check). So naturally, people stopped voting for them because in less than 2 weeks, they'll see pics of the finished products at Comic Con.

Treva Horme
R2D2 Endor Shield Bunker Damage
Senator Amidala (Palpatine's Office - AOTC)
Queen Jamilla
Black Bespin Guard

- all figures that had been voted onto my winner's list in the 2004 poll who did not make MSP's first winners' list, came back onto THIS winners' list, and no surprise, they are almost exactly the same number that left MSP's first group due to production confirmation (Wioslea, etc.)

Cloud City faired much better: Treva, Utriss M'Toc, Black Bespin Guard. Nice!

Luke Medical Frigate is confirmed, and there is a Leia on the list and most likely matched with an ESB wave. It's a good bet we're getting Leia Medical Frigate as well.

Nice to see the Solo Twins make the list. It's about time they had EU figures.

I'm very happy to see Rogwa Wodrata, that big Separatist! So often mistaken with Tonbuck Toora - Wodrata is actually in the movie with Count Dooku. So let's get him!

This was a very good list that resulted. As I noted before 35/50 of the choices are exactly the same - and the Top 10 is just a little re-ordered, but also the same - with Wioslea dropping out - but in production anyway.

Great job, MSP!

I've created a PDF that shows the results of all the polls with some brief descriptions of how the polls were conducted (Nothing long winded, I only had a small amount of room to squeeze it in on the page). For the individual movie and EU polls, I left in those that were announced before Phase 2, but did not count those as part of the top 25 (or 50 in the case of the EU). I didn't bother to remove anything that was announced since then. Actually, a lot of those haven't been officially announced yet. So, if you want to update the list created by our alternate Phase 2 method, you can delete the announced figures and replace them with those that are next in line as posted a few posts back. The PDF I created is called "Most Wanted Figure Writeup" and is located at http://idisk.mac.com/madslantedpowers-Public

I just reread previous posts where people put their break downs:

18 OT votes, 7 PT votes, 0 EU votes

ANH - 4
ESB - 4
ROTJ - 10
TPM - 4
AOTC - 3

I can't believe I had 7 PT votes.... can I resubmit my votes and and MSP recalculate??? :D

I am told I should check in to discuss how I'm supposed to present the findings to Hasbro. I see no reason to keep this quiet, so might as well thread it here, it's quickest.

I figured I'd briefly explain the process of Phase 1 and 2, give them the results (I'm thinking top 75 since a bunch of the top 50 are actually believable rumors at this point), discuss the results (I think at this point the "duh" factor will be kicking in for me, so anybody with a weird name will be described on the list in simple, easy-to-recognize concepts); then if there's time, present the Phase 3 results. I wouldn't want to take too much of their time up though so as best to present the poll as respectful and able to speak for itself. That's all I got.

Our first Phase 2 only had 50 on it, so we can't go to 75 on that one. The alternate Phase 2 (or Phase 3 as you referred to it), does have much more than 50 so you can go as deep as you need to if you want to replace any announced or rumored figures.

I'll be heading out of town about the time Comic-Con starts, so I won't be available after Wednesday morning (unless I decide to buy an iPhone this weekend). I probably won't have time that morning anyway, so we should make sure you have what you want and need by the end of the weekend.

I didn't see it until now actually, I accidentally was clicking the XLS files instead.

I don't know about the layout used, it's landscape printing which is awkward and not as professional as I'd like (it's not a chart after all), and will end up not really selling the main list that well since it's 5 pages in. Also, should we put written-out URLs for each poll or is that kinda pointless? And there's a few "who the hell is that?" names which I'd like to see explained like "Rogwa Wodrata (AOTC)" and "Taym Dren-garen (ROTJ)", we're not going to have easy access to Wookieepedia to look 'em up on the fly if asked. I dunno, I'm not set in stone, I can be persuaded to change my mind on some of that stuff.

Good point about Phase 2 only having 50 results, guess that notion's down the drain.

Your poll was named Phase 3, don't blame me.

Mad Slanted Powers

I can rearrange the order to put the Phase 2 and 3 results up front. I had it in landscape mode because at first I had three polls per page. I changed it to two columns because some of the longer names wrapped to the next line.

Putting extended descriptions in the actual list might detract from the "professional" look you want. Perhaps if I make it one poll per page I would have more room to make it look better. URL's might be helpful for them to look up later, but not if you are going over the list with them in person with no way to look them up.

I try reworking it a little and post some different versions to the same spot later.

What do you think will happen when we "go over" the list? I have no expectations here at all, having never done anything like this before - Tycho's done this before, not me.

Having proper identifiers under or beside the names could only improve information usage, which sounds professional to me. Oh, and mention how long each poll ran for, should give a little more weight to them. We may have to go with landscape mode just because the polls might look odd on a page, they'd probably only take up 3/4s at best.

Don't overwrite the original, I like to contrast new and old ideas at the same time to examine whatever changes are made and see how they work out. Also, it's "SirStevesGuide.com" as the site name.

Most of the figures on the list won't need descriptions. If you don't have any expectations of a lengthy discussion, then it may not matter as long as the character name is there for them to refer to later. I may need to be a bit more clear on some such as which Padmés are being referenced. What I might do is provide a URL for a digital copy that has hyperlinks to the Wookieepedia. Then I could go through the list and link each figure like I did in the polls.

I can coach JT on the names he does recognize.

Taym shot Luke's hand on Jabba's Sailbarge and Rogwa Wodrata is the large mouse at the Separatists' conference when Obi-Wan spies on Dooku on Geonosis prior to being captured.

I know there will be more. But perhaps I'll be WITH JT when he wants to deliver the list. It should help consistency, as he's correct, I represented SSG in this matter before (in 2005 with Dr. Evezan). By the way: having several site representatives there at the same time helps us be taken seriously, as opposed to one guy with a list with Luke Snowspeeder Pilot written on it 50 times. ;)

But JT will have considerably more time at Comic Con this year than I will, due to my medical concerns. I may or may not be able to join him when he wants to do this. We can discuss it further.

As to the obscure names? It's Hasbro's responsibility to know who they are. They're the ones who paid a million or more for George Lucas' licence and put the Star Wars brand name on their door. I should think that means something in terms of what they got on board for when they signed on. And hey, in 1998, they knew who Pote Snitkin was and I did NOT. So there's hope.

Anyway, I'd keep the lists very neat and simplified. WE can tell them who a character is, versus have wrap-around text in Excel cell boxes. A straight list without descriptions or links is what I handed them last time. Since then, we got about 22-25 / 50 figures made or so, in about 3 years.

Should we bother breaking down how many from each movie made the top lists for Phase 2 and 3 results on the page? Could even do it as a chart and then better justify the landscape mode. ;)

What if they want to consider it later while I'm not there? Where's the harm in saying "fly alien in Cantina", or "Jabba guard who shoots Luke in hand" under the names? Most speak for themselves, but not all do, not by a long shot. We don't need it for every list, just the top lists in phase 2 and 3 results. You feel the need to describe the various Padmes, why not the various really poorly-known named characters as well? Anyway, I'm thinking of this poll as paper, in person, because that is what best resonates in these sorts of situations, that's my primary focus, making what we hand them immediately understandable to someone who knows much but not all of this stuff. That's why you linked 'em in the poll, but on paper it needs description too.

What's lengthy about discussing a list? "Here's how we came up with these results, you can see who is what." I suppose we could get into which properties were most popular, but that too should be a relatively short conversation. I'm trying NOT to editorialize it so as not to taint the results.

"Digital copy"? I had no intention of giving Hasbro a flash drive on this. If Tycho wants to cough up $5 for one of those 128mb drives you buy in the Target checkout line and do that, I'll include that, but I assumed paper would be good enough. If you want to do digital with resourced links, you should be able to copy-paste the results of the top characters from the Phase 3 poll since it has EVERYBODY in it linked (just make sure those links work when you do, some programs eat links).

Sounds like I should either put a link to it or describe it... ;)

For some reason, I can't download any of the files on that page anymore, they refuse to do anything.

I can coach JT on the names he does recognize.I don't need coaching, the names are all linked in the phase 3 poll, my concern is for a free exchange of ideas on BOTH sides. And don't make me point out that 90% of the time, I'm correcting YOU on the spelling of those sorts of names. :p

Taym shot Luke's hand on Jabba's Sailbarge and Rogwa Wodrata is the large mouse at the Separatists' conference when Obi-Wan spies on Dooku on Geonosis prior to being captured.Yes, I know that, I could have looked it up at any time, but when I'm at the show, it should be INSTANTLY obvious who these names are, Derryl shouldn't have to turn to me and go "what is this?", a lot of these characters aren't named anywhere but CCG and Wookieepedia, there's no reason he SHOULD know them, but if you describe them, the information will be right there.

We can discuss it further.I cannot assume you'll be there. You are not going to be at the show much this year, and the Hasbro team is VERY busy, and I cannot make time to be in the booth when you are. If you want to take over this task, LMK now and I'll step out of the way so you can make that easier, but for right now I'm assuming this is all me.

You are mistaken. It's our responsibility to quickly and cleanly communicate our results, and these vague, impossible-to-say names with next to no screentime and no recognizability are a big problem in that department. They do a damn good job getting these things done, we're trying to LIGHTEN the burden on them to smooth the way to getting what we want, not increase that burden simply because you feel they owe you somehow.

It's too late for simplified. Simplified would have been just the final Phase 2 results, the end. No asterisked-out characters who are confirmed to be made taking up space making polls uneven, no endless results for EU characters at the bottom of that list which got 1 vote each.

I'd only give Hasbro a list of characters that got the most votes. I wouldn't give them a list that showed "THIS character only got one vote." You're bascially telling them that we did market research and found out that a lot of the characters collectors ask for can't even generate interest among collectors.

You don't want to show them they are scraping the bottom of the barrel since next year we'll be yelling for figures that never even made the barrel and ended up on the floor.

The PDF file doesn't have the bottom of the barrel figures that only got one vote, and it doesn't say how many points or votes the figures received. It is just the Top 50 from Phase 2, the top 50 from our alternate method (Phase 3), and then the top 25 from each of the Phase 1 polls (except for EU, which was a top 50 poll).

I did not intend to give them a flash drive with the file on it. What I said was, "What I might do is provide a URL for a digital copy that has hyperlinks to the Wookieepedia." That simply means that the sheet would have a URL listed so that when they take the list back to their office, they can look it up and see the file that has the hyperlinks so that they can look up anything they are not familiar with. Even without links for each character, they can still look up the names. That is why I think it is more important to describe something like the different Padmés. There is only one Taym Dren-garen, but there are a lot of Padmés and they should be sure they know which one we are talking about.

I can't seem to download the files either. It might be a problem with Apple's transition from .mac to MobileMe. I'll see if I can figure something else out. If not, I'll need an e-mail address so I can send them to you.

Try this link (http://madslantedpowers.home.comcast.net/~madslantedpowers/Figure%20Poll.html) - it should have links to the two files.

Actually it is already too late for that because the results have been posted in this thread. But, as I mentioned, that is not what JT will be presenting to Hasbro.

Link works, thanks.

I think they mean the lower placing entries on the individual movies and EU polls which got kinda low votes. I was thinking of not mentioning that stuff unless pressed, maybe try to go percentages. :p It appears MSP was thinking the same thing.

If we're going to offer digital resources, it's going to be right then and there so they can see it if they want right then and there. If they ask, I will provide the web address (via email) but I'd prefer to either go with none or go with a flash drive if we don't do "none".

Here's what I see happening, someone from Hasbro, probably Derryl, will take the list and maybe we'll go through the main results real quick. When we get to "who is that" names, most of them I know right now but I want them not to have to ask that. I also don't want to accidentally blurt out "some dumb Ewok" or "another pointless pod racer", which is VERY possible, I've got an inability to self-censor when I get excited. But, if you guys are ok with that risk, I can do it on the primary poll (I prefer to call it "Primary Method" and "Alternate Method" polls since that's how I saw them). I'm not even sure how I'd describe Trinto Duaba in text anyway, "he's kinda like the skullface guy but with eyes" should probably be said rather than read; "ratface in jawa costume in cantina"; "bimbo background dancer in Jabba's palace"; "that other duros in red in the cantina"; "the guard who shot Luke's hand"; "another dumb Amidala dress, I think this one was purple and had bags on her hair and looked stupid." ;)

I don't want to bother going through the alternate list's results which are more varied and really more of a counterpoint to showing how alternate methods could reveal similar results (when similar). I want them to be an offered resource, but not put as much stock into them (I don't think that poll played out quite as well as hoped).

I was just reading the final poll results from RS and the guy that conducted the poll said they were giving Hasbro all their data. Of course, they had vastly bigger numbers than we did. They also didn't have a poll to combine the results. They just used modifying adjusters to the figure scores from the individual polls based on how each poll average compared to the overall average.

I'll do some more work on it tomorrow and try to work in some of the suggestions. As I have it laid out now, there isn't room for descriptions on the overall top 50 page if I want to keep it on one page. There is more room on the individual poll pages to put a brief description, so that is where I will put them. I'll see if I can fit the descriptions I used in the Phase 3 poll and see how that looks. Describing something like Trinto Duaba would be kind of difficult, so I'd probably just put "Cantina Alien". He has a distinct name, so even if you forget who he is, they have the info they need to research the figure. In this case, this figure is already rumored to be coming anyway.

That's the one thing I am excited to talk about with the Hasbro guys, how the individual polls don't always translate to the overall, that there is an X-factor when meshing all the realities together which alters voting patterns. Our final results show it in the Phase 2 poll results if you know how to look for it, but on the surface it doesn't show that well that ANH has more results.

I think it's obvious that ANH is the favored movie of all the Star Wars saga - for figures for sure, that is.

ROTJ was still behind, even though it came in second.

This does not necessarily reflect the movie preference, as ROTS is probably the most-liked prequel, but is very well-mined for action figures.

Similarly, ESB is very well-mined for action figures and it may be the fan-favorite film of them all, but doesn't hold that rank in terms of getting action figures, though we're making progress with that new Lando (Smuggler) and the confirmation of Luke Medical Frigate, and strong hints that Leia Medical Frigate will accompany him in that wave.

But there is no doubt that ANH is the crowned "Emperor" of Star Wars in terms of a figure source.

I've added descriptions to all the movie polls, and I've begun to make the names into links in case someone is viewing the file online. I've managed to do that so far for ANH and ESB.

Unless I make the EU poll two pages, there won't be room for descriptions on those. I'd like to keep 50 listed there since that was the original intent of that poll and it covers a much broader spectrum than a single movie poll. I'm not sure how to describe them all since I am not too familiar with some of them. I could just reference the source, but some are in many sources.

The link (http://madslantedpowers.home.comcast.net/~madslantedpowers/Figure%20Poll.html) is the same as before, and you can get the current update by clicking on "Most Wanted Figure Writeup #3.pdf".

You definitely don't want to give them that last version. I just noticed as I was adding links to TPM that I had the line "Ann or Tan Gella – Sebulba's blue Twi'lek assistant" without the "istant" at the end.

Okay, the same page now has a link to version 4 of the file. I have links for most of the figures, and I added a page at the end that lists the breakdown of both top 50 lists and which figures were on both lists.

http://home.comcast.net/~madslantedpowers/Figure%20Poll.html

If anyone has any suggestions for the following things, let me know:

Links for figures that don't have links
Descriptions for figures that don't have descriptions
Better descriptions for figures that do have descriptions

Also, if anyone can sort out the whole Lumat situation, that could be helpful. I got confused trying to figure it out from Wikipedia.

Aren't we just going with who KENNER said Lumat (the Ewok) was when they produced the vintage figure in 1984?

That's what people want: a modern update.

That's what people want: a modern update. That makes sense, except that they might not call it Lumat since he has been defined to be a different Ewok. Then again, Wookieepedia says that the Graak figure was based on the old Lumat and looks more like the new Lumat than Graak.

They're just talking about similarities between the figures.

This (http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/6/6e/Lumat_kenner.jpg) is the first Ewok named Lumat, and the one Kenner made a figure of.

This (http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/8/8b/Lumat_ccg.jpg) is the "new" Lumat, as decided by Decipher and the CCG.

This (http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/4/43/Graak.jpg) is Graak, who sort of looks like the new Lumat (but isn't).

Don't worry about what they say about the figure; they were just noting similarities.

BTW, totally agree that for EU, it's far too complicated to describe them, they're ALL exceptionally difficult to explain, that's the nature of their entire context.
