$3.89/gal. here in California's largest oil producing county. It would probably be a lot cheaper if we didn't have to send it south to LA to refine it and ship it back up....

I was stopping by Costco for other purchases, and realized a) I could use some fuel in the ol' car tank, because b) the price was $3.29, which is about $.40 less than most places elsewhere. And so I did.

Major spikes, from an average of about $3.49 to $3.74 in about five days. I haven't heard any justification for it this time; did the oil conglomerates just stop pretending to explain their shenanigans?

Filled the tank for $47 here in OK to start the trek back west today. It took over $81 to fill it when we left Cali three weeks ago...OK (pun intended), let's do the math: if a full tank in CA = $81, and a full tank in OK (still pun intended) = $47, with your tank at 20 gallons, then gas in the Sooner State is $2.35 per, right?

Actually, I had a quarter tank so it was a 3/4 fill. Gas was about a buck more per gallon than your figure. Got home yesterday and watched prices steadily climb. I stopped and topped off at one of our mountain communities (Tehachapi) before coming home at $3.99/gal in order to not buy at our normal corner station which is about at $4.50 again.

12/10/14 - $2.489 including a 15 cent discount
12/27/14 - $2.139 including a 10 cent discount

The last refueling cost under $19.66 for 9.191 gallons. Looks like the last time I filled up for under $20 was on 5/2/09 when I paid $19.71 for 8.963 gallons at $2.199. How are you only buying gas that infrequently MSP? I live less than 2 miles from work. Most of the other driving I do is not too many miles, and usually no more than 3 days a week. My girlfriend lives about 25 miles away, so that uses up a bit of gas if I go there, but usually she comes to see me.

I have to wear a nice shirt and tie to work. Even if I walked (which I have done when it was too snowy/icy to drive), I get a bit too sweaty. If I biked, that would probably splatter, so I would have to change when I get to work. Plus, the extra time it would take to walk would mean I would have to get up that much earlier. 6AM is early enough for me to get up.

Bel-Cam Jos
12-31-2014, 10:38 AM
I had a job where I could walk there, with business attire. As long as it wasn't hot, rainy, or windy in the morning it was fine (and wonderful to leave, instead of getting stuck in the traffic to depart). Also had a job where I worked outdoors much of the time, and I could ride my bike there because it was downhill to get there (in as little as 7 minutes, I timed). Now, when I was exhausted from work, riding uphill home wasn't so wonderful (always MUCH longer than 7 min.).

I wish I could ride my bike to work, but then I'd have to shower there.
So you're telling me there isn't any showers at your school? :pirate:

Down 2 more cents to $2.179. I keep track of when/where/how much gas I buy and in 13 days the price went down 30 cents!

So you're telling me there isn't any showers at your school? :pirate:None where teachers have access, so then no.

The closest station south of my house jumped $.12 in the past two days; no other station has gone up at all.

I stand corrected; I got gas yesterday for $2.49 at a station that had been $.04 less a few days ago. So, some are going up again. :(

I expected to see prices shoot up, as per the news reports of the new California "non-tax" gas tax. Thankfully, I've yet to see evidence of that.

Stand by. When it hits, I think I've read that it will bring a total of 78 cents to every gallon that we will be paying including all other taxes we pay in fuel costs. This, in addition to the almost 6% rate increase for power if you are an unfortunate customer of the Pacific Gas & Electric monopoly like I am. I like to call it the San Bruno tax. Happy New Year!

I've noticed increases, but not a spike. Yet. I'm sure it's a matter of time, and not a long time, either. :(

Weird: that station near me that jumped, just dropped $.02. Few others changing much, if at all.

I was near the Costco, and could still get it for $2.35 per. Not too long of lines (but it was Wednesday evening).

An Arco near me went up from $2.49 to $2.65, then back down to $2.59. But I got gas today at the Arco across town for $2.39. Not quite Costco prices, but Costco's about twenty minutes away and I don't fill up there unless I'm already in the area because that'd be a huge waste and negate the savings.

Overall a general trend downward here as well, though not by much. Maybe a cent or two over the last several days, with many stations holding steady.

It's around $2.59 in Temecula I think.

I drive there a lot from San Diego and I try to fill up there. I think gas is more expensive around where I'm at.

Down 3 cents to $1.969There's hope that SoCal here will see the magic "$1" in front of the ones place... someday (cue the John Williams "Tatooine Sunset" music, and look towards the light).

I got it for $2.23 yesterday (Costco again; I happened to be nearby), which was at $2.35 just about a week prior.

$2.23 around the corner from me and I still can't believe it. I live relatively close to downtown LA and gas is typically much more expensive here. I usually gas up near my mom's out by Monrovia, where it's easily .10 less.

So I lucked out and am the 1138th post in this thread. Coincidentally (maybe even fittingly), I was born at 11:38AM according to my birth certificate.
