If you do six a year, you can do two from each movie. (If you want to do 12 a year, that would even be better) Eventually, I would like to see the entire Kenner line made into Hasbro VOTC.

Here's my list of figures I think really need this treatment PDQ :)

Star Wars

1. Walrus Man
2. Snaggletooth
3. Death Squad Commander
4. Jawa
5. Death Star Droid
6. R5-D4

The Empire Strikes Back

1. Han Solo Bespin
2. Leia Hoth
3. Leia Bespin
4. 2-1B
5. Zuckuss
6. Hoth Rebel Soldier

Return of the Jedi

1. Admiral Ackbar
2. Amanaman
3. Klaatu
4. Barada
5. Nikto
6. Weequay

And a special Sy Snootles Rebo Band in a vintage box

ABSOLUTELY!!!

I would substitute the Emperor and the Gamorrean Guard and the Emperor's Royal Guard (just for that impressive cardback:D) for Klaatu, Barada, and Nikto in the ROTJ wave. I would also substitute a newly sculpted, super-articulated TIE Fighter Pilot to the ESB wave for one of the Leia's.

They should do some prequel figures in the same style on faux vintage cards. :)

Or why substitute anyone? Just make them all. Add a new Wicket and Paploo to your ROTJ list and we have a second 6-figure ROTJ wave.

Yes, that'd be cool, Ep1 would fit the best in this style because it's the most Star Wars like of the prequels, the first wave could be:

Ep1
1. Darth Maul
2. Anakin with Podracer Helmet
3. Qui-Gonn Jinn
4. Obi-Wan Kenobi
5. Queen Amidala (Theed Invasion)
6. Jar Jar

I have to be the voice of dissent here, simply because I open almost everything, and Hasbro's proven they can make a $7 figure with the same level of articulation as the "Vintage." I'd rather they make good figures as cheaply as possible and couldn't care less about the packaging.

Agreed. Especially since more often that not, the vintage line ends up containing just as many seriously bad figures as good ones. And many original trilogy figures have already been made pretty much perfectly (for instance, I don't want another Momaw Nadon just for the packaging when the 2006 one is perfect).

vintage figures did have the advantage of those smaller blisters though. they should keep that up. snip a little off the cost and use less plastic in packaging.

i'd add imperial dignitary to the list. still want the vintage one redone to go with janus greejatus and the emperor. that one they gave us instead of the vintage dude is alright but he isn't the vintage dude. sim aloo or whatever he's known as. skinny scary old dude.

Which was more than completely undone by the ginormous clamshells on the modern vintage ones.

true. I'm thinking the rising cost of plastics might preclude that now. and possibly a multi-pack of a vintage wave could be done. some sort of diorama background with a plastic base like the cinema scene figures had. vintage style artwork and simple front of box only window. plenty of room on the back for character blurb. would cut down on a lot of packaging with regards to plastics. but would still do what hasbro wants and present their product in a premium way. one multi-pack per OT movie.

I do realise that hasbro isn't really motivated by green issues though and would likely just dish up the same packaging style as the previous vintage offerings. and that the cardback nuts would be furious if they multi-packed figures.

personally i'd accept all figures in a non window simple box with a picture on the front of the contents. some sort of sticker seal over the box flaps so if it was broken you'd know whether the box had been tampered with. I don't agree with blind packaging where you don't know what you get inside the box but yeah simple small recyclable packaging would suit me.

talk about a waste, look at the new packaging coming out this July. I'm not a carded figure collector except for the original vintage (but I also have them open), the hasbro VOTC. Everything else...opened. I throw ever figure's cardback and bubble into my recycling bin, so at least I know I'm doing hasbro's job for them

I feel sorry for carded collectors this year because the new packaging is honestly the worst stuff I've ever seen! It IS down right hideous! The more I see it, the uglier it looks. The only thing that works about it is for the animated clone wars figures.

I welcome Hasbro, as I said in my first post, to do all of the original vintage line in their VOTC line. Even if that means repacking figures such as 4-Lom, or the Jawa from TAC, Saga Boussh...these figures are superbly made but I would gladly buy them again if they were packaged on vintage cardbacks. I could do without the clamshell if that will lower the cost, but I also don't mind paying the $10 price tag with the clamshell.

I'd be all for that. I'd even like to see previous vintage figures, like Vader, Chewie, Artoo and Boba Fett, rereleased on vintage Star Wars cards (not ESB or ROTJ).

I don't really understand the complaint about the price. It's a $3 difference! What's the big deal? But maybe I'm just too accustomed to spending $20-$120 per figure on the vintage Kenner line. I recently got done adding the last-15 POTF figures to my vintage collection, so Hasbro could charge $20 apiece for the VOTC line and it would still seem cheap to me.

I second that.

Now if a POTF carded version of Luke Stormtrooper isn't the perfect chance for getting us a SA Stormie Luke I don't know what is.

I'd also like the Amanaman, as that card rocks! And I'd also take the 'Day the Earth Stood Still' Trio as we haven't seen regular carded versions of the vintage figures of any of the three. Sure we have a Barada, but it's not the same guard as the vintage figure.

I'd love to see Hasbro make the Vintage line regular release as NO CLAM SHELLS!!! But they don't bother me as three more dollars for a figure isn't bad with the extra packaging, though it does kinda hurt on army building. And I'd love Amanaman to come on a Vintage card! Oh the Awsomeness that would be!

I hope the line returns in 09. Whether or not hasbro completes all 96 cardbacks is uncertain. I believe they can turn out a few great waves.
my picks:

STAR WARS
walrusman
jawa

ESB
HAN BESPIN
LEIA HOTH
LEIA BESPIN
LUKE HOTH
DENGAR

ROTJ(THIS IS SO HARD BECAUSE THIS LINE ROCKED WHEN I WAS 7; hasbro: you should make all these, but i'll narrow it down)
LUKE JEDI
GAMORREAN GAURD
EMPEROR
LANDO SKIFF
WICKETT
ADMIRAL ACKBAR
JABBA THE HUTT(DELUXE)
THE MAX REBO BAND
AND SKIFF GAURDS ROCK!

Since Hasbro has been relatively quick to turn VOTC figures into regular carded versions or battlepack figures, or since you can pick up most of them opened on ebay for under $5, I don't have a problem with Hasbro continuing the line, as it draws a lot of collector interest.

What I don't care for is collectors complaining because Legends releases the line at a better price point thereby ruining the "value" of the VOTC figure. The regularly carded Snowtrooper needs to come out ASAP!

Agree! Poo poo on monetary value. You would think by now with how ridiculously cheap all the figures from POTF2 and other previous lines have gotten, there's no monetary value in any of this people. Here's an idea, get an education, get a job, invest your money in real things like IRA's, 401 K's and the Stock Market cuz scalping and hoarding these new star wars toys are surely NOT going to help you down the line! Fools!

Like buying a Coach bag or D&G Sunglasses, you are paying for the name, in this case, the vintage card back with the VOTC and that is fine as frogs' hair to me! I love that they eventually release them in other lines because one, now they are more readily available (last years friggin TAC/Saga Legends is a fantastic example) and they are 3 to 4 dollars cheaper so you can actually build armies if you choose.

I would love the VTSC Snow Trooper to come out in a regular line soon and I really hope that do that with Han Solo and Obi Wan and the Sand People.

That should be etched in stone somewhere. If you wanna "invest" in Star Wars, buy high grade, core product, packaged vintage. Even then, your rate of return at this juncture isn't going to beat an index fund (or likely a simple CD).

Now, Luke's original lightsaber from the production of ANH that was at Sotheby's a couple of years ago? That might have been a nice one to pick up!

LOL, people who think these things are worth cash are idiots! Yeah sure you can fetch a few pennies out of a few figures, but not enough to buy a house ETC... Peeps who buy to collect or who are carded collectors, hey that's great, but me personally i open my figures and enjoy them! It's what there for!

And yes Sand People and snow Troopers VOTC please! Like hopefully in 08 Saga Legends...(Even though i know it won't happen.)

Well, obviously they are worth something or we wouldn't be spending cash on them. :p

Buying toys for profit is definitely the wrong venue. I'm a classic OT guy who collects open and carded so it's nice that hasbro gives us that option. Prices are always a concern but we collectors are either patient or willing to pay for what we want or both. We all have the choice to decide what we wait on to pay for or what we wont. I agree on ditching the clamshell to lower the price on the vintage. I would love to see hasbro change the back of the card to original style!

Any why not release Vlix, and some of the canceled Ewoks & Droids series 2 figures
