The word is the show won't air until September!

The Season 6 DVD set isn't coming out until around a week or less before then, too.

Grrrrr.

I like time to watch all the last season before the next one starts, but you always feel so rushed. Why do they do this?

I saw an interview with Paula Garces  (Tina) and she is returning and says her character will have cool things to do. Here's to hoping many of those things won't necessary have to have her doing them with her clothes on!

Meanwhile, we left Season 6 after some very serious ground was covered regarding Lem's murder. Vic knows about Shane!

It's all coming to a head now.

Thoughts? Predictions?

I can't wait. This show can only end in one way.

Any word, other than this summer, when season 7 starts?

I can't wait. This show can only end in one way.

What way are you thinking?

Vic kills Shane?

Shane kills Vic to make it a tragic surprise to the viewers.

What of Aceveda, Claudette, and Dutch? They are also kind of primary characters.

I really don't know which way to call Aceveda's fate. He started out good and slipped down the slope because of Vic. All the stuff he's done could come back to bite him. Or the show could keep with the theme that politicians are corrupt, and David will continue along with the worst kinds of skeletons in his closet (the real ones).

Claudette seems "done." She made Captain and as such, will probably take (or could take) the others down. I don't see her character going anywhere else unless she gets promoted to Assistant Chief of Police for all Los Angeles. But maybe she'll get so close, and then her illness will reach out and help the Reaper take her?

Dutch is the most interesting. After all these years of trying to get in the minds of the sickest serial criminals in order to catch them, I think all the pathologies will manifest themselves in him and he'll go crazy and rape and kill or something.

Meanwhile, whatever happens between Vic and Shane, Vic will realize that he created Shane in his own image. But Vic was a bad cop who cared about others. Shane became the worst kind of cop, who cares only about himself.

Any word, other than this summer, when season 7 starts?

Other than September? - which isn't actully until the Fall. Makes me so mad...

For the last couple of seasons, I've felt/thought that Vic is going to die. It's payment for his transgressions, and it's the only way the series can end.

How? A shootout with Shane? Maybe. A hit orchestraed by Shane? Possible. But Vic definitely isn't going to retire.

The final strike team member (Terry?) may break and do some time. Then again, he might skate free.

Claudette will stay in charge at the Barn, and Dutch will be promoted out of the barn, to Robbery Homicide, that premiere LAPD unit.

Acevada's past will come back to haunt him, too. He's carrying too much baggage, emotional and otherwise. He'll fall, too.

Ronnie Gardocki. Terry was the rat they killed in the very first episode.

Ronnie's the one you're thinking of.

Interesting. So you think Shane is going to survive it all, having become the monster made by Vic, who kills Vic (and Lem obviously) in the end result of his "training."

That's possible. Man is that wicked!

Claudette will stay in charge at the Barn,

I wonder if the Barn will be shut down, symbolic of the show being shut down?

OC47150

Ronnie!!! He's like that fourth member of the Doors' whose name I can never remember.

I don't think Shane will survive either. He has to pay for his sins, too.

Closing the Barn would be a symbolic end to the show.

Oh, yeah. It's also a good television show.

I'm watching season 6 on DVD right now.

Remember Dick 'N Granny? It was a Poles 'N Holes production. (Guy dresses up like Richard Nixon to make porn with grandmothers).

And the Salvadoran slaughter house - Dutch walks into the crime scene and calls it in saying there's 4 - no make that 6 - no make that 9 - no wait a minute...you gotta be ****'n me! The house of dead, machettied bodies with all the neighborhood's stray cats eating them! That was just something you do NOT ever see on television!

Dick 'n Granny. Boy, I forgot about that one until you mentioned it, Tycho.

I can't wait until tonight.

Frank Darabount (Indiana Jones script editor) directed the big confrontation between Vic and Shane in the parking lot where Lem died.

I was watching a documentary that came with my Season 6 DVDs and it impressed me to learn this. Looks like Shawn Ryan can bring great work out of Darabount - who's very into The Shield.

It's amazing how the Hollywood fraternity gets around, huh? The Shield has been far better organized than Indiana Jones though, for sure.

Did you like Vic Mackey and the Kingdom of the Crystal Meth? ;)

OC47150

Shawn Ryan's also behind the Unit, in case you didn't know. He's brought a few big names -- Sidney Lemet, for one -- to write and direct an episode of the Unit. Ryan's real-life wife is Corrine, and she's appeared on the Unit, too.

Read an interview earlier today with Ryan. Clark Johnson, who filmed the pilot episode, also filmed the final episode. Nice touch.

Tonight was a good episode, but I was slightly disappointed that for some of this final season, everything goes back to the status quo with Vic and Shane working together. I would have almost preferred a season of them hunting each other to the death!

I did shout out at the foot-cutting moment. That was a nice touch and a little bit of a surprise in this episode. Next week's looks intense with more gun battles. Still, they had some shooting going on already - though I'm mixed up a little as I'm watching my Season 6 DVDs still and have everything twisted around in my head until I catch up. I've watched 4 of the 10 from Season 6 so far - trying to remember what went down like 16 months ago. It's been so long!

My first reaction was, I wished FX would've showed the last few episodes (I know they've done this in the past, or maybe I just missed them) so I could remember everything that was going on, but the pre-credit montage helped refresh my memory.

Ronnie was turning into a little Vic there when he shot Ari in the motel room. I hope Ronnie heeds Vic's advise and not travel down that dark path like Shane.

Billings' little sequence was funny. Trying the fraud the system.

Wanna bet it was Tina who didn't clear that room for Danni?

Good episode. Can't wait to see where we go this season.

Tycho
09-03-2008, 01:06 PM
Wanna bet it was Tina who didn't clear that room for Danni?

Of course it was. They added Paula Garces to the permanent cast for this final season. I noticed in the credits. Obviously Tina will then have a full season of all 10-13 episodes.

I wonder where they are going to go with her? I know they used her as a grievance for Dutch who was trying to get with her, but lost his chance when Kevin Hyatt swooped her up in the 6th season. Now Dutch has either given up and forgotten about her, or her character will continue to exemplify "an under-trained cop," and maybe she'll eventually get killed due to some situation that Vic and Shane cause?

Tycho
09-10-2008, 04:06 AM
I think Vic is going to use the Armenian Mob to take out Shane so revenge for Lem won't blow back on him.

The question is whether Ronnie won't try to act on his own to avenge Lem as well??? It's not typical of Ronnie, but you never know with those quiet guys.

OC47150
09-10-2008, 09:32 AM
It didn't record!!!!!!!!!! Arrgggggggggggggghhhh!!! I thought I had enough tape; I taped the Fringe (it's so-so) and the tape ran out.

FX normally reruns the episode Friday or Saturday night so I'll have to catch it then.

OC47150

Mm, smores.

Shane's line just cracked me up. He had another good one in the show but I can't remember it.

And the lady fed in bed with the Mexican bad guys! Interesting twist.

Tycho
09-25-2008, 02:18 PM
Are we talking about the same show? Oh: Lady FED as in FEDRAL AGENT.

OK, I thought we were talking about some type of Mexican Geisha for a minute. See where my mind is at...

Great show as always. The tension is taught and things are going to explode - especially because we know this is the final season. I still hope Shane gets what he deserves and Vic dishes it out to him.

Ronnie is the wild card. His pair has dropped and he's armed for the kill. Now which way is he going to shoot?

OC47150

Acevada (Benito Martinez) was on this week's episode of the Unit. He played the President-elect, Castillo.

It will be interesting to see if he pops up again on the Unit.

Tonight's episode was awesome. Note the extended car chase and lots of extra action - Michael Chiklis (Vic Mackey) directed this one. I think he directs all the episoides until the end of the season because their regulars had to go out on strike, but the rest of the crew wanted to finish the show.

It was awesome with Chiklis at the helm.

Besides that, Clebone Gardner was terrific! I loved seeing him come back on the show and face off with Claudette.

That kid that Dutch is after IS a killer - and he's on his way to becoming something worse every day.

Using the gang to rescue that chick was pretty good.

Man there was a lot happening in one show. Oh, judging by the preview, Vic has not forgiven Shane IMO and Shane is being set up. That's just my guess.

You know the writers will never end the show in any manner that we could predict. That's what I love about The Shield!

My timer shut off just when Vic was confronting the lady fed!!!! Arrggh!!!! I'll catch it during this weekend's rerun.

Great episode. Lot of action. I thought it was interesting Vic was driving his Charger again, not the beat-up old Chevy.

And you're right about the kid, Tycho. He's a killer. Dutch wants to make one big arrest in his career.

Tycho
10-01-2008, 01:33 PM
Dutch wants to make one big arrest in his career.

Dutch has made plenty! Oh - yeah. I guess you could say they were with Claudette's help.

Now he's more or less on his own because Billings doesn't do anything.

But in the first season, he nailed that serial killer that had 19 bodies burried under his aunt's house.

Remember that line, "If you're so clever, then how come a lowly, civil servant like me just caught you?" - awesome! And all the Strike Team and the rest of The Barn were watching him kick butt up in the observation room.

Dutch has gotten some big fish already - actually almost on his own. I don't remember why Claudette wasn't in with him on that one ("Broken Tail Light") but Dutch took it personally to nail that guy. He was awesome!

(Jay Karnes has a recurring role as an ATF agent on Sons of Anarchy tonight!)

This season is turning out well, might be one of the rare final TV seasons that were really good.

Dutch is usually outshadowed by Vic's arrests, most of the guys he brings in are usually psycho killers. Not hardcore bangers like Vic.

Personally, I'm a big Ronnie fan.

OC47150
10-22-2008, 08:40 PM
Shane and family on the run! Vic the rogue cop!!

WOW!!! It's getting guuuuuuuuuuuuuuudddd!!!!

When the gang-banger was spilling his guts, and the pieces started falling into place, and Shane was slipping out the door, my heart started racing!

This was the first episode in a long time that Danni wasn't featured. And Paula Garces (Tina) hasn't been in an episode for weeks!

Tycho
10-28-2008, 09:19 PM
It's showdown time!

I'm rooting for Vic in the shortrun. Shane needs to pay for what he did to Lem.

That being said, Vic is a jerk and if Ronnie needs to wash his hands of both of them - then fine.

In the end, I'm rooting for Ronnie.

Oh - and Shane's family: pregnant Mara and Jackson? They have to die.

The only way I can see this going down differently, is if Vic lives and adopts Jackson. That could almost be predictable.

But do you think Ronnie is going to die? I don't see that happening. They haven't turned his character into a potentially tragic loss, but rather a cold-blooded killer, if he needs to be.

I don't see Shane surviving though, do any of you?

40 minutes until show-time!

OC47150
10-28-2008, 09:53 PM
I see a lot of gunfire and when the smokes clears...I don't know who'll be left standing.

Well, Claudette and Dutch, for sure. Maybe Billings. ; )

Tycho
10-29-2008, 12:15 AM
Oh man, was tonight's show intense or what?

Do you think Vic was going to kill Shane and Mara at the hospital?

OC47150

Oh man, was tonight's show intense or what?

Do you think Vic was going to kill Shane and Mara at the hospital?

I agree.

I was wondering if he'd shoot Shane. Mara and Jackson, that would be wrong.

And Ronnie is moving more and more over to the Dark Side, too. I think he'll do what's necessary to save his job.

Tina was back!

Dutch isn't letting the Lloyd storyline go away. I wonder if it will wrap up in the last four episodes.

Tycho
10-30-2008, 03:26 AM
They could all go down:

Vic could kill Shane.
Corrine will betray Vic, maybe when Ronnie finishes Mara and Jackson.
Mara will have put the blackmail file (on the strike team) into play if she dies.
Vic will try to hide in I.C.E. but Pezuela will have him killed.
Aceveda will have Pezuela killed and I.C.E. will get him elected mayor of LA.
The strike team file will get Ronnie arrested and sent away to jail.
The Barn's tragedy will get it closed down and cause Claudette her job.
On top of that, Dutch will get fired for fooling around with the mom.
He'll rat on Billings setting up the sex offender, thinking Billings sold him out.
Like I said - the Barn will be closed, costing Claudette her job.

Julian and Tina will be the last ones standing, and be reassigned to other departments, looking back on their experience at the Barn as something they were lucky to survive.

This is the first way I'd predict it will go down at this point that the show's at now.

sith_killer_99
10-30-2008, 01:39 PM
T, I think that would be a good way for the show to go out. Vic and Shane end up paying for the original crime of killing Terry, the whole barn "burns down" and very few people are left standing.

Think about it, the whole thing was created by Gilroy...a corrupt cop. It would be fitting to see the whole thing rot in a very poetic sort of way.:Pirate:

OC47150
10-31-2008, 11:56 AM
I still think Vic will die, as well as Shane. The Barn closing is foreseeable, too.

I don't think Corrine will play that big a role in his downfall. She's looking for the kids, as she has from the very beginning.

Mara's a wildcard.

I always had a feeling Vic was a .45 man.

OC47150
11-05-2008, 08:57 PM
Great to see Claudette and Dutch working together again. They make a good team.

Shane and Mara were enjoying themselves a little too much in the hideaway house.

In regards to our past conversations about how the series will end, after last night's episode, I could see Aveveda buying it.

Tycho
11-06-2008, 06:07 AM
Aceveda kicked some butt, unexpectedly. Vic and that Cartel guy were sort of shocked, LOL. They both stood there dumbfounded as Aceveda beat Pezuela good. It was kind of a shocking and then funny scene.

Shane and Mara do not illict sympathy from me. Almost. I didn't like seeing them get robbed. I think the score must be settled with Shane, but Vic and Ronnie must do it personally.

OC47150

I've collected the DVDs and actually do re-watch this show. It was worth investing in them.

Tycho
11-19-2008, 02:16 AM
I can't believe Vic sold Ronnie out! (I bet that's not really his plan though).

They thought Lem sold them out and he died for it.

Shane is trying to blackmail them or sell them out.

In order to be any different, Vic will have to never betray one of his own and actually sell Ronnie out.

Vic confessing all his sins had my jaw dropping!

I never would have thought I'd see the show where Mara blew two people away - and she didn't even use her mouth.

If Mara dies due to her injury, Shane might feel he has nothing to lose!

I thought Shane might've even killed Tina when he took her gun.

Claudette really seemed to have lost it when she heard all of Vic's confessed sins!

That storyline with Dutch and the prone-to-kill-minor is still playing itself out up until the very final show. What's up with that?

OC47150
11-19-2008, 07:58 PM
Last night's episode was Emmy-worthy for Chiklis and CCH Pounder. His portrayl of Vic as a broken/crushed/desperate man was awesome. And Pounder's explosion of emotions during Vic's confession was great.

I'm glad to see a lot of the familiar characters coming back for the last episodes.

Do you think Shane will make a deal to protect Mara and the kids? I'm leaning towards that.

I think Shawn Ryan is from Rockford, Illinois. I've been there actually. I lived southwest of Chicago when I was in high school and dated girls from all around there. No one was living in Rockford, but a girlfriend of mine had lived there at one point, and we took a drive to see old friends of hers. Memory lane - and remembering when gas was really cheap.

Meanwhile, The Shield. Oh man! That was a great show and really screwed up. My first reaction was disappointment that there wasn't more closure.

Ronnie getting put away for the Strike Team's misdeeds really bothers me. I watched the show twice tonight and that scene where Ronnie is screaming at Vic's betrayal when they take him away just tears me apart.

Shane was predictable in the end. It was really disappointing that there wasn't a final gun confrontation between Vic, Ronnie, and Shane. Except I don't think they could've really killed each other. When Vic learned of Shane's death, and especially of Shane's family's fate, I could tell he grieved for them. That alone makes me suspect that he could never actually have killed them.

But poor Ronnie!

And did that kid kill his mother? What will happen to The Barn? Is Claudette going to die real soon?

Vic's "sentence" to cubicle-clerk hell is somehow appropriate. He'll have his freedom every day at 6pm it would seem. Funny thing is, he'd fair better in prison and might even be happier - but Ronnie is being sent there.

It seems set up for a movie even - starting with Vic busting Ronnie out of custody. I need to see that happen.

The biggest resolutions we got were Shane's suicide and Billings getting his settlement (2 days backpay for his "injury" which is more than the faker deserves).

And maybe Dutch gets the girl in the end. (That's Jay Karnes' wife in real life, I learned.) BTW, Billing's lawyer - I think she played Wyatt Earp's girl Josie in Tombstone if I'm not mistaken (the one Earp really loves and who he eventually ends up with).

Anyway, I'm sure there's so many more things I'll want to add. Bring on The Shield: The Movie! Or make it an FX special event movie. I don't care. I want MORE Shield! Right now!

sith_killer_99

Yeah, Ronnie got the short end of the stick, he wasn't even in on the Terry Crowley thing until way after the fact, IIRC. That was Vic and Shane's doing.

The funny thing is, I think Ronnie would have been better off where Vic is and Vic would have been better of where Ronnie is.:yes:Both would have been happier I think.

Ronnie could have straightened out in that kind of environment and started his life fresh.

For now, Vic's just serving time...three years...then what?!?!

The whole scene in the barn with Ronnie made me sick. It wasn't about serving justice, it was about punishing Vic, the way they all came after Ronnie...looking at him like he was Vic, making sure that Vic saw it and knew that they all wished it was him they were going after.

Kudos to the entire cast, they really sold it, with hardly a word, they conveyed soooooo much!

I loved the scenes with Claudette interviewing the kid, then Vic. CCH Pounder was at the top of her game in this episode.:D

I normally tape the Shield and watch it the next day, but last night I watched the last few minutes and had to watch the show then and there!

After the speculating/guessimating we did on this board, it was interesting to see how it played out.

The commericals were right: unforgettable. Shane shooting himself and the cops finding Mara's and Jackson's bodies in the bedroom will be with me for a while.

Vic's in Office Space hell. And no sign of his family! That's punishment!! Not being able to see his kids will be worst than prison. He wasn't the best father but at least he was there.

The scene of Vic in the interrogation room, glaring at the camera, was just scary.

And I thought it was ironic/funny that the producers touched base with Julian's homosexuality issue from season 1 or 2 very briefing with the two guys holding hands.

Still a lot of unresolved storylines, like Vic's and Ronnie's future, finding Leonard's mom's body, etc... I can see at least one TV movie.
