These are definitely coming out and you'll see the pictures at Comic Con.

The figures are in the animated style.

Padme
SpaceTrooper
Magna Guard (Grievous' Body Guard)
R3-F6
Admiral Yualrin
Jawa 2-pack
Commander Gree
ARF Trooper
Battle Droid Sentry

You got me on what some of these things are, but the Clone Wars movie and TV show will reveal them.

The movie is August 15 and I believe the TV show starts in October. It may or may not repeat things that were shown in the movie. I don't know.

There are also these battle packs - they are animated style from what I heard:

B'Omarr Monastary (the Jedi will have to save Jabba's son in order to win safe passage to fight the Separatists in non-Republic space, and we might see when Jabba took over the B'Omarr Monastary seen as his palace in ROTJ). In any case, it's probably a convenient way for Hasbro to re-release the B'Omarr Monk figure.

Jabba The Hutt - this may be an animated version of the Hutt, or just characters he interacts with at the palace. They might do a throne dias here, so they can re-sell it to us as the ROTJ version later.

Clone Wars Attack Group - you got me. But you can bet that Hasbro will pack clone troopers in something.

I've got friends in low places.

But I promised that I would not post the source of my info in exchange for it, and future updates.

I just intend to demonstrate its accuracy so my intell will continue having credability.

I actually didn't seek this honor, if you can believe it or not. But the stuff from the Legacy Assortment (other section) was really too juicy to pass up on.

yes I know....

I think it's just the toy withdrawal speaking. I'll get my meds on 7/26 in the form of the BMF, AT-TE and other vehicles and figures. That shoud tide me over. Though that may be an overdose, heh heh.

About the ARF Trooper, isnt it supposed to say ARC Trooper or is that the what the source of this list said?

My I post this list on the rebelscum forums?

Tycho
07-11-2008, 01:26 PM
Yeah, post it wherever you'd like. I'm not looking for credit either. I just share enthusiasm for the toys with the rest of you.

As to the ARF Trooper? I don't know. Alderaan Royal Fruit Trooper?

These are Clones who were stationed on Bail Organa's planet to keep him in-line but got too addicted to just laying out by the swimming pools at their hotels in Alderra, sipping on martinis, and hitting on the babes. They don't wear a lot of armor but they come with casino chips and that multi-colored umbrella Temura Morrison was seeing playing with behind the scenes during the filming for Kamino in AOTC.

The "Admiral Yualrin" listing is likely a younger Wullf Yularen. That could be cool.

I bet the Spacetrooper was a misprint since there's one supposedly one coming in the ANH wave.

Tycho

With regards to Yularen: I doubt it.

You don't go from an Admiral to a Colonel (well usually - I suppose he could have changed service branches and not been as highly placed in Imperial Intelligence.)

But Navy ranks go Cmdr., Capt., Admiral - and the Empire has Grand Admirals.

Army Ranks go Mjr, Col Maj, Col, Mjr Gen, General - and maybe Grand Moff is above General in the Empire? Unless Tarkin came up the Navy ranks - I forgot.

About Yularen. I looked up the Clone Wars movie on Wookieepedia and I looked at the List of characters and I saw Yularen's name on the list. This means that he is definately an Admiral in the New Movie.

As usual, Tycho's source was spot-on. Can't wait to see the Wave 4 pieces his source mentions. If you watch this clip HERE (http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1809991325/video/8977211) (minor spoilers, I guess) there is a Separatist leader who looks possibly central to the plot and is featured prominently in an action scene. I wonder if this is this "Admiral Yualrin". He is near the end of the sequence.

How does one go from Admiral to Colonel?

How does one go from Admiral to Colonel?

Maybe he got transfered in the reorg after the Republic became the Empire? Or they changed their military rankings to a more army based system?

bigbarada

An Admiral would be roughly equivalent to a Lieutenant Colonel or Colonel in the Army. So, for it to take him more than 20 years to only go up one rank shows that he's kind of a loser.

The only other possible explanation would be that he retired from military service shortly before Ep3, then was recruited back into a different branch of service years later under the rank of Captain or Major, then worked his way up to Colonel.

A Colonel is equivalent to Captain (and a Lt Col = Commander). Only in Battlestar Galactica could you find it going as nutty as what you suggest.

Even if we assume that he changed branches from Army to Navy, he also dropped in rank from a flag officer to a field officer, and it seems unlikely that he'd take that hit and still rise back to Colonel.

Or in the real world. It's not uncommon for people to switch branches of the Armed Force (but it's extremely rare or nearly impossible to do it more than once in your lifetime). That switch usually corresponds with a reduction in rank, but it doesn't have to. It's dependent on how long you've been out of the service and how long you served previously. My brother reenlisted in the Army recently, he was out for 8 years and only lost one pay grade (rank), but he's training right now with guys who have switched over from the Air Force and Navy (even some guys who have been Navy Seals or served in the IDF -Israeli Defense Force) and they've all been taken into the Army and their ranks adjusted depending on their individual circumstances.

It happens in reality, but when written into a kids' cartoon, it's just sloppy storytelling.

On the BSG comparison, I didn't mean the switch, I meant the rank equivalences:

I just got confirmation that wave 4 is instock at BBTS and my order was available. I'd say start checking stores for this wave, but out of the few wal-marts and Targets i've visited post-christmas, it's been REALLY REALLY desolate.

Which is actually good, since it means it will be easier for new figures to get into the stores now. :)

I plan to get 2 of each droid, and one of all of the other figures except the clone with the orange

I already have that one from the Target battle pack with Obi Wan, so I don't need another

unless someone shows me there is a difference between the two

saw the first signs of Wave 4 tickling into the retail stores. was at a local Hobby Shop (basically a huge Train and craft store that recently within the past 5 months starting carrying toys as well) and spotted the Magna Guard and 212th Clone Trooper on their pegs. so i get all excited go to the register with 2 comics, a lego set (which was $9.99) and a copy of ToyFare along with the 2 figures. the girl rings everything up and says that will be $75.98. I state "there must be some mistake" she states sorry 2 comics at $3.00 a piece, one Lego set at $10, a magazine at $5 and 2 action figures at $25.99 each.

$25.99 for one Star Wars action figure ????? are these people are crack. now i realize that smaller stores mark things up a bit but over 3 times the retail price ? I said not interested in the figures and just grabbed the other stuff. could not believe it, still in shock about the price

i would have but the manager can be nasty at times and didn't really care to sit and argue a mute point. the smaller stores have always been pricer due to the demand for figures. they know if collectors really want the figure they will somehow justify the price and spend the cash.

this is just one collector who can wait till they are sitting on a pegs at TRU or Walmart and fork over the $7 for each figure.

Got Asajj Ventress from HTS. It's an ok figure, not blowing me away but decent with good articulation, good cloth skirt (removable!), good accessories. I just don't like that head design though.

Mr. JabbaJohnL
01-19-2009, 09:10 PM
How is her skirt removable? I can get the little belt buckle off but it seems like I'd have to warp the other piece to get it off.

JediTricks

Her midsection comes apart easily. Simply pull the buckle out of the peg hole (assuming it's actually in there, mine shipped with it having come away from that), pull the torso off the waist, and viola, they slip right off easy peasy.

you gotta love discussions on how to take the clothes off your figures. lol

I HAVE TO SAY IT, I AM GETTING VERY UPSET THAT THE BEST RENDITIONS OF STAR WARS FIGURES ARE BECOMING THE CLONE WARS VERSIONS.

They are getting better articulation, better plastic choices, better uses for soft goods, they are just better all the way around. This makes me upset because of all the money and time we have spent collecting the Legacy line and now I feel we are getting shafted because these new guys don't have the same aesthetic.

Tycho
01-24-2009, 05:15 PM
I'll agree with the above. Since 2007, one thing I've noticed was the Comic 2-packs are actually getting some great figures and really decent sculpts (no credit to Cade Skywalker, though).

JediTricks
01-27-2009, 09:47 PM
The articulation on the CW figures is not superior to the TLC figs, there are less articulated knees and elbows unfortunately. And the plastic choices? I dunno, my CW Battle Droid has drooped, stupid damnit to hell.

This wave did highlight what works in this line though, it really delivered a lot of great toys. I think I bought every single figure in the wave after all was said and done.

Look at the clones, though. I love the new wrist articulation. On the commanders, the kamas are a softer plastic making for better poseability. The Shoulder pauldrons are molded so they don't spin like on the Legacy ARC Troopers. I agree it can't be a blanket statement because the Jedi do leave a lot to be desired. The best one being Ashoka, which is a shame. As for Droids, Battle droids have always drooped, no matter what version.

JediTricks
01-30-2009, 03:16 PM
The soft kama on Rex is good (I had earlier mistakenly said it was too hard for posing, I was thinking of a different, non-CW figure at the time), but the shoulder pauldron on him spins like a mofo on mine. The new wrist articulation is really good, don't get me wrong, but it came from the non-animated line back in '07. With CW, the clones are a little too tall, so it's not like there aren't trade offs. But all in all, my comment about articulation is meant to represent the other figures in the line, not just the oft-recycled Clone Trooper figure.

And as a side note, I'd really like to see the range of motion on the knees and elbows extended, for joints that round and oversized, you'd think they'd at least go to 90 degrees, if not 100-110, but they stop around 80 which is a little frustrating.
