Sorry fellas, been working booku OT lately. Company giving incentive of 50 dollars extra for every 4 ours of ET worked on top of OT pay. So for every eight hours of ET I work I have been making close to 300 bucks. Cant turn that down. I will post a league this weekend as I am taking a few days off.

I try not to do more than 3 if I have to change everyday. Football is easier since you make changes once a week. I can do 5 of football. Cappy, if you end up needing an extra in Pappy's league, I will fill in.

I am ecstatic over our new qb!! I am still kind of in shock that the Jets got him, but damn!! Now that he is a Jet, this team is going to be all over the media.......I am glad the saga is over and we all know where he is going to play. I do kind of feel bad for Chad (his talent is lacking but his heart is tremendous) but this is a business move and it definately brings the team up a level, maybe even two or three!!

Had my big Fantasy Football draft last night, the one that pays out over $800. I placed second last year, hopefully I will place first this year. :D

Here is my team:

Starters:
QB - Donovan McNabb
RB - Marion Barber (KEEPER)
RB - Maurice Jones-Drew
WR - Larry Fitzgerald
WR - Greg Jennings
WR - Justin Gage
TE - Chris Cooley
K - Phil Dawson
D/ST - Seattle Seahawks

Reserves:
QB - Eli Manning
RB - Chris Johnson
RB - Maurice Morris
WR - James Hardy
WR - Bobby Engram (was my starting WR3, but found out he was injured after I drafted his ace, usually I am on top of this stuff :(, I do have Gage (Ten #1) and Hardy (Buf #2) to fill in, which isn't so bad).

I signed up. Hopefully I'll be able to participate in the live draft because I can never decide how to do the pre-rankings.Those tend to be useless anyway since all of the players you'd take the time to rank are more than likely gone in the first 2-3 rounds. Its OK for your first and maybe your second pick, but after that your just getting the highest ranked anyway.

We (auto:mad: )drafted in my father-in-law's league the other night and I feel like I ended up alright, especially at RB:

QB Ben Roethlisberger
WR Terrell Owens
WR Marques Colston
WR Torry Holt
RB LaDainian Tomlinson
RB Marshawn Lynch
TE Jason Witten
K Jason Hanson

QB Derek Anderson
RB Jamal Lewis
WR Laveranues Coles
WR Kevin Curtis
TE Owen Daniels

DEF Jacksonville

I'm gonna try and draft live, but I probably won't make it. I didn't draft live last year and I won the damn thing, so maybe I'm better off auto-drafting. Anyways, I'll try to make it but I may not be able to.

Hey Cappy, you going to create a "Survival Football" league again this year? (I believe that was you last year who created that).

Bel-Cam Jos
08-28-2008, 06:55 PM
I joined a league with some friends of mine, and some others I don't know from Adam Jones. It's a simple keeper (only two) but you get rookie rights for 3-5 years. I took over somebody's fairly loaded squad (T.Romo, W.Parker, R.Wayne, T.Houshwanawangamalikilokicommasplicezadeh, T.Gonzalez, M.Harrison and others... I decided on Romo and Wayne to save, plus I get Chris Henry as a rookie). We'll see.

We have LOTS of extra players (ends up being up to 22 with an injured list of 2  ). Here's what the Womp Rats field to open the season:

QB: T.Romo DAL, M.Ryan ATL
RB: R.Williams MIA, T.Jones NYJ, C.Henry TEN, A.Stecker NO, M.Bush OAK, T.Duckett SEA
WR: R.Wayne IND, M.Clayton TB, S.Moss WAS, D.Driver GB, J.McCerrans [sp?]

24 total players including injuries? That's absurd!!!Actually, if I read the rules correctly, it's 20 + up to 2 injured. But I agree, I think that's too many in a 12-team league. Then, I ain't the commish, so's that's the way it is.

However, I forgot to include that I also have RB C.Taylor MIN, so that adds up to 21.

I thought of an irony alert. Who wanted to be traded in the off-season? Chad Johnson (if you looked on website rosters, that's what you'd have found). Who legally changed his name to an incorrect Spanish "phrase?" Chad Javon Ocho Cinco (I guess he kept and liked his middle name). Let's say that the Bengals get tired of his antics and do trade him, to a team where the player wearing 85 won't give it up, or it's retired. Therefore, "Ocho Cinco" would be wearing 81, or 15, or 89 or something. Cue the son-dad conversation:

Son: "Dad, why does that guy have a different number on his back than his name?"
Dad: "Well, son. Do the River Dance wearing a yellow sports coat and then putt a football, and maybe it'll answer your question better than I could."

:D

Them damn 2-1B's beat me in our league. :( At least I lost to a worthy adversary. ;)

I won in my Family and Friends league, stomping the guy by like 40+ points.

My big league, I am ahead 85 to 83, he has Adrian Peterson and I have Greg Jennings left. I hope Green Bay can hold Peterson in check. If they do, I should pull out the W; as long as Rodgers can float some balls to Jennings.

I have Chris Johnson in all 3 of my leagues, and should have started him in every one. He is the Titan's offense. I was scared when he left the game with an injury, but was greatly relieved to discover it was just a cramp.

I also have Marion Barber in my big league, who put up some serious points. Hope his rib injury isn't too serious... :nerv:

Mad Slanted Powers

I'm losing in the SSG League unless Mason Crosby can outscore Adrian Peterson and Greg Jennings by 38 points.

I'm over 50 points behind in one of my other leagues. I have a better chance to score more points with both Greg Jennings and Donald Lee, but I won't get enough to win.

In my 3rd league, I am only 5.2 points behind with Crosby and Jennings yet to play, while my opponent is done. So, I should be able to win that one.

Looks like that postponed game has ruined me this week. I wasn't around to make any last minute changes. I'll need Greg Lewis to outscore Terrell Owens by more than 4 points to win. My two other receivers are on Baltimore and Houston, while my opponent has Houston's kicker.

As long as Tony Romo has a decent-to-good game tonight and a) he doesn't throw to P.Crayton too much and b) the Dallas 'D gives up some points with few turnovers/sacks/tackles/defensive scores, I should be okay for another win.

Well, I went 3-0 this week.

In my big league I had McNabb and DeSean Jackson (as well as Marion Barber). My final score was 130-53, but if that TD play would have actually occurred, it would have been 150+-53. Unreal. I still won either way, I just could not believe that play.

It seems Turner was my live and die by guy today. In one of my leagues he got 28 points for my opponent and I've come up about 8 point short of victory. I have Turner in a Yahoo Salary Cap league, so that should help me do a lot better than I did the first two weeks. I'm in last place there.

As for my 3 regular leagues, I am 4.7 points ahead in one, with my opponent still having Vincent Jackson going tomorrow night. I'm unbeaten so far in that league. I'm 7.9 points in the league I mentioned above. I'm winless there. If I get 11 points from Antonio Gates tomorrow, I'll get my first victory in the SSG league.

Ugh. I need a 55 point night from LT (with the funky scoring system in place, it averages out to about a 15-18 point game ina "normal" league) to win one league and a 10 point night from Nate Kaeding to win another. They're both doable, but I hate waiting for the Monday night game for things to be settled.

I needed 24+ points from Thomas Jones on MNF to squeak out a win, but alas getting benched in the 2nd half and putting up a nice 3.something game dashed my hopes of a 3-0 start. Still, I'm the 4th power-ranked team in my league, and am leading my division (league's rules for playoffs: the three division winners and next three best records go on).

Weird; I have 7 players on bye this week (are Colts, Patriots, Seahawks, and Dolphins).

Yesterday I went through and picked up some free agents to fill in so that I don't have any gaps in my roster.Actually, I thought I did plan well. Once I drafted someone, I took out just about any other player with his bye week as a possible draftee (which in itself might not be a good tactic). My backups are decent (but who's better than Reggie Wayne at WR?); my bad week will be #10 (Romo and Santana Moss on bye  ).

But this week, a decision to bench the Tampa 'D vs. the Pack for Jaguars at home vs. Texans could be a gamebreaker (+1 instead of +16) for me. Hope Hines Ward has a so-so or off night tomorrow.

After viewing the match ups, I must say that I am disappointed. Just like last season. Though this time we have more owners that are not "playing", or making adjustments for players on a bye, injured, or otherwise not playing, making the league less fun and much less competitive. I'm about to call some people out!!!

kh - I guess I can let your kicker slide a week as you otherwise keep up with your stuff.

jamesbondo07 - I can let steven jackson slide, even though he was ruled out nearly 2 hours before game time, and you didn't have a bench player to replace him.

The Two One Bees - TE on a bye and you left Westbrook on the bench in favor of Julius Jones. I guess you could be playing, but I'm not sure.

Banthas Bartenders - Some weeks you are on top of your game, other weeks you just disappear. Disappointing either way. Good to see you put Roddy White in this week, but Reggie should have been on the bench.

Bald Beavers - 4 out of your 9 players weren't even active!!! No excuse!

Okay. I'm done. :D

I am tied for the 2nd-best record (6-2) in my league, but since I score less points, I'm in 4th overall. However, I give up the least points against me, but that don't mean nuthin' in my league. Defense DOESN'T win fantasy championships, apparently. :( I head into my rough stretch: against the three teams ahead of me, plus my second run-through of my division foes.

Kidhuman
10-28-2008, 10:09 PM
In my other league I am tied for first at 6-2. Damn stupid not paying attention cost me first. Last week I played the guy I was tied with. I dropped my kicker because he was on a bye and picked up another one. I forgot to insert him and lost by 9 points, my kicker would have gotten me 12.

UKWildcat

In my big league I am second with a 5-3 record. Our finances changed this year ($120 entry fee, 12 people) but the pay outs are huge! And we have pay outs for all sorts of stuff, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, most points scored, best overall record. Each add/trade transaction costs $1 that goes to the pot as well. This is obviously the most competitive league I am in (*cough*), and being 2nd is just awesome. I am obviously hoping to finish first, and have the most points scored, that way the pay out will be close to, if not over, $1000!

In my other league I am tied for first with a 6-2 record. I don't have the best team but I am in a weak division and will definitely make the playoffs. I'm hoping to place 1st or 2nd in that league, payouts would be like $160 or $80 respectively.

In our league I am 3rd. Nothing but bragging rights here.

Oh yeah, I won last year. </brag>

I still have a chance because I have Portis and Moore tomorrow while the Beavers have just Hines Ward.

humans have Heath Miller against Jason Campbell for the Dolphins in 08, so that could swing the other way.

red 6 has Pittsburgh defense, so probably not enough to catch jamesbond.

Grins have S. Moss, W. Parker and S. Suisham against the Bees' Randle El and S. Holmes. This remains undecided.

Bartenders have Cooley, so barring large negative yardage, they have Brett Favre beat.

Strangers have Washington defense, so they have this one sewn up as well.

BTW, last week I hung the first 'L' on the formerly-undefeated squad in my league (by more than 30 points), and as long as WRs L.Evans and B.Edwards score less than 58 combined on MNF tomorrow, I'll move to 8-3 and closer to #2 overall in the league.

I won in both of my other leagues. Destroyed one guy in my big pay league, 104-67, in my other smaller pay league I won 108-105, to stay atop my conference and 2nd in the league.

Thankfully I still have a chance to win (and already clinched a playoff spot).

Need 24 points or less from WR M.Colston tonight to reach 9-3 and possibly #2 in my league. Would've been easier if WRs R.Wayne and S.Moss, plus TE D.Clark would have produced more than 19 total points (but getting 130+ from the 7 other spots was awesome). Womp Rats should lock up a playoff spot if I hold on this week.

I stand corrected. Both players combined for 41 points, giving me a 13 point victory. In that league, I am now the #1 seed in the league and have clinched a playoff spot.

You think that was good? Check this out:
In my other league I was down by 46 points with Brees and Colston left to play tonight. The other person was played out. These two combined for 49 points, giving me a 3 point victory. Unreal.

Colston got 13, which was not enough to outscore me. :whew: My 144-point, 10-point margin victory moved me to #2 seed in my league, which if I can hang on (#1 is far too high a scorer to catch), gets me a bye in the playoffs' first week. I go up against a friend of mine who WON BY 100 points this week while giving up 76. Go 'Rats!

Just to balance out all of you that had great weeks, I had my worst week of the season and went 1-3 in my 4 leagues. I had always managed 2-2 at the very least.

Aaron Rodgers pulled me to within 3 of KH which made Kevin Curtis' zero points look even worse.

I won in two leagues this week, but I think I'm out of the playoff picture in all three leagues. The other two leagues I am in are only top 6 for the playoffs, and they are starting in week 14 so that they finish in week 16. This is so they don't have to deal with teams resting their starters in week 17 and messing up everyone's fantasy roster.

"A clams test", meaning that he is testing whether or not the vags of New England can hold out for Dreamboat's inevitable return or if they'll drop trou for Dreamboat v.2.0. This could lead to several different "clam tastes" in his mouth.

If all else fails, he can enter the Poo-lympics and earn some "scat metals".

But isn't "Matt Cassel" really an anagram of "Scott Mitchell" or "Steve Bono?"

I just wanted to let you guys know that the regular season in my "big pay league" ends tonight. As I sit right now, I am a lock with the #1 playoff seed. I have the best regular season record and most points scored (both of which will stay the same after tonight's game), which pays out 20%, or slightly over $300. I have a bye next week, so I don't play again until week 15. If I win week 15, then I will be in the finals in week 16 (where I was last year but finished 2nd). This year I am looking to win, obviously, which will be about an additional $800, or my total winnings would be $1,100+. :D I'm at least guaranteed $300, which is sweet, but I want MORE! :D

I'll keep you guys posted on how it plays out.

In my other pay league I am 2nd right now and am guaranteed to make the playoffs and have a shot at either $160, or $180; I can't recall the exact amount.

David Garrard's garbage time TD helped me to salvage a 2-2 record for the week in my 4 leagues.

I am in first place in my other division as well. I didnt lock it up, but have at least secured a tie for record, and I am behind for points by about 40. I do play the last place team next week. I have a good shot at being the #1 seed in the playoffs whih start in week 15 and 16.

The league I joined this year uses Power Rankings (combination of ranks of Point Scored, actual Record, and versus everybody Breakdown record), where I was #2. I was #3 in record (top 2 tied), #2 in points and #2 in breakdown, so I get... the 3rd seed and no bye this week. :( Oh well. I'd never made the playoffs previously, and I get the Commish in playoff week 1 this week.

Tonight, I and my opponent both had our defenses going on MNF. Unfortunately, no defenses showed up, as I still squeaked out a 3pt win to move onto play the the 2nd-seeded team in the playoffs semifinals (this was the team that was 9-0 when my Womp Rats faced them and won, but I'm a little beaten up now [RB P.Hillis done for the season, my WRs deciding that statistics aren't necessary], so it'll be much harder).

Still, I bask in my first-ever playoff appearance and win.

A new league led to new results. After a 3 or 4 year hiatus from fantasy sports, the Womp Rats will play for the championship. I just hope my season-high (151) point total last week in the semis won't tire out the players this week. Same here. I wouldn't say the Jets won that game..I would say Buffalo totally blew it...but a W is a W.

At this point, the Miami game to end the season is going to be huge as far as playoffs and momentum for the postseason. Chad is playing good for the fins and it won't be easy.

Here's my matchups, as far as I think my opponent will start:
Womp Rats Vs. [misc. team]
QB: T.Romo vs. [D.Brees] - think I'm in a little trouble here
RBs T.Jones & K.Faulk vs. [A.Peterson & B.Westbrook] - think I'm in trouble here, too
WRs R.Wayne & S.Moss vs. [A.Boldin & T.Houshmanaman] - I might have an edge
TE: D.Clark vs. [B.Scaife] - I believe I have the edge
K: J.Reed vs. [R.Boronas] - push
D: Tampa vs. [Vikings] - push, perhaps?
Defensive Player: J.Harrison vs. [I don't know who] - I think I still have the edge
Flex RB/WR/TE: WR D.Driver or RB C.Taylor vs. [RB D.Rhodes] - think I'm in trouble here once more

But I get some money irregardless  of the outcome. The fact that I lost to him by .55 points (yes, that's less than a point) earlier, and have only ever beaten him once in four other seasons, would make a finals victory sweeter. Rally the 'Rats!
