Maybe we'll try having a general thread for what's on sale, where you found it, and for how much. What'cha think?

~~~~~~~~~~
Right now my Target has a sale running (and I'm sure some have already seen this at their local stores.)
It includes discounts on figures ($6.99 at my store), smaller vehicles (I picked up the Spider Droid for $16.99), and even the AT-TE (saw it for $89.99.) I think I remember seeing the role-play stuff on sale, and a bunch of the Lego sets are on sale also.
Things like battle packs, the comic 2-packs, and Titaniums aren't on sale. The big giant Falcon isn't on sale (yet) either.
Also, the back of their "back to school" mailer that just dropped, features a $5 off $50+ purchase coupon.
Id just thought I'd share this. A couple weeks ago before I was collecting these figures I remembered at Target they had some Comic Packs and Order 66 sets on sale. The ones I saw when I got there was the Luminara and Cody - Order 66 I believe. And the comic pack with some devil lookin guy. Looked like devil from mos eisley.
Anyhow the Comic pack was only $3 and the Order 66 was $2, don't ask me why I passed on them, but I did. dumb dumb dumb
A few days ago I found a General Reefkan(sp?) for $1.66, I said why not.
Kmart's current circular has buy 2 get 1 free on all Star Wars. The sale runs through August 9.
The picture in the ad shows both LEGO and Hasbro items, so you should be able to get LEGO sets too.
I think K Mart's SW buy 2 get 1 free sale ended on the 2nd. The ad said Aug. 9 but I looked at the shelf tags today (they were still there) and the sale was good through the 2nd. Might be able to argue if you had the ad and if Kmart actually stocked new product to buy.
My local Kohls has a lot of figures. A whole section of them. they had almost all the figures, including hard to find Scuba clone troopers.
Normally they are 9.99, but right now they are 8.99 plus 15% off until 1 saturday making them like 7.64.
Just a heads up if your still looking for something.
I have to report a lack of a sale, actually
My local TRU has raised their Legacy, Clone Wars and Legends lines to $7.99
The price was initally $6.99 as of Midnight Madness
$7.99 is too much for a basic figure
Does this apply to the BMF?
It said "these action figures," and had pictures of a Transformer, Comic Pack, and Galactic Heroes. I may check them out for the two new Comic Packs, at least.
Yup, just for those three. The TRU I went to had the signs up in front of all the action figures and all of the Galactic Heroes, including one of the little playsets. Some guy was furious because he wanted to get the GH playset for his kid but they were telling him that the sale didn't apply to that item, to which he replied "Then why did you put the sign right over it?"
Not to mention the sign advertised "Cosmic Packs". And they only had ONE comic pack in stock.
I keep hearing that Wal Mart is slashing their prices on toys. Well that has not happened to major toy lines such as Star Wars. It would be nice to pick up that AT-TE or the Falcon for 25% off. Make the action figures $4.79. I certainly hate shelling out $6.84 for figures that are not up to par since the Freeze Frame line.
Oh, please. The figures now are so much more detailed and articulated than they were ten years ago. You're just kidding yourself if you think otherwise. The Episode I figures were $6.74 or something, so it's not that much of a stretch.
That's a good deal on Amazon. Used the TRU and Starwarsshop coupons to get the AT-TE for $75 today. Also picked up the TAC TRU Exclusive Jedi Starfighter with Hyperspace ring for $24.99 (had been $34 at tru retail for some time despite also being $24.99 on tru.com), and a Mon Calmari warrior fig to get the free Transformers Milenium Falcon ($39.99 retail) they have on special if you spend over $99 on Star Wars (not into this line, but figured free is free). Ended up getting $172 worth of stuff ($181 with tax) for $113 including tax. Not a bad day considering the AT-TE and 1 fig. would have cost me $113 with tax any other day. Will still save the reciept, as I have a feeling this is only going to be the beginning of some crazy sales over the next month. Will be interesting to see how the Target Ultimate Battle Packs price out when all is said and done. Wouldn't be a bit surprised if they end up being $49.99 again.
The 15% off coupon or a 20% off for that matter, would still keep me away from the Lars homestead. Those are going to be warming shelves for a long, long time.
I know some people have picked them up here and there but my local pegs are jammed with Marvel Mandos and I've only seen the Leia/White Vader, Xizor/Leia Cankles, and Karrde/Thrawn once each (and bought them). I for one will be more than happy to pay full price for a shiney new Turbo Tank. I want Hasbro to know that people are gonna pay top dollar for these big vehicles. They need to feel comfortable taking a risk on futur items like a new AT-AT, a BMF style Slave I or (hope and pray) Jabba's Sail Barge.
I've seen zero new product. I guess there have been the SL red cards out but that's not really new. I haven't seen the Saber tank and I have a feeling that as soon as the AT-TEs sell down a little the Turno Tanks may be taking their places. In the mean time, there should be battle packs and new comic packs hitting as well as the two new vehicles but I haven't bought anything in months.
Yeah I got two Big MFers and one AT-TE. Had neither, and really wish now I'd gotten two AT-TEs. Oh well.
And here's how bad I wanted the Falcon at that price. Saw they were on sale during a random shelf check about 6 pm today, but were all out at that location. Called and found one with countless boxes on the shelves and drove there after dinner (took about half an hour). Reached the general area about 8:45 and asked 5 different people where the TRU was. They all seemed to be on serious drugs and had no idea. Finally found the store, which had a PITCH BLACK storefront, no lights on in the lot, and only 3 cars in front at about 8:57. Ran in and bought two from the same woman I had spoken to on the phone so she was kind and almost congratulatory that I made it.
As far as Lars Homestead...I want that thing, but calling $40 clearance seems funny to me. It's only realistically worth about $30 in the first place (in my opinion). Considering it's still warming the shelves at my closest TRU for $40 I am hopeful for a bigger drop. It'd be very cool if stores were open to haggling on these sorts of things, like "come on, no one is buying these, how 'bout $25?"
Yeah both TRUs within reasonable distance of me have pretty ugly looking dregs remaining. Can't wait til they get some new stuff. But I couldn't resist buying a few figures at a discount, even though I already had a couple of them. And I picked up one of the Lars Homesteads since they were finally down to $30. At that price it's a pretty cool set.
It's funny how they marked the AT-TEs and BMFs down 50% for a weekend and sold a ton, and now at normal price they're just camping out until the inevitable day they are clearanced again. When that day comes I am getting the second AT-TE I should've gotten in the first place. Also wish quite badly that I'd started this latest collecting frenzy of mine when republic gunships could still be had. I'm in no hurry to pay what it takes on eBay but I do lust after the TRU exclusive design to match my ARC-170 and its troops.
One of the highest priced star wars auctions I've seen, other than a carded 12 back figure. Lots of loose figures and ships, plus a rack of modern carded figs.
Maybe not worth that amount but it would sure be fun going through all that!
Selling this way you might be right. But the actual value of what he's selling is probably higher than what he's asking. Selling it piece by piece might be too daunting but he could get more money if he broke this up the right way.
Well, there is a boxed up Death Star Playset in the corner and a C-3PO case full of vintage figures, not to mention the vintage Shuttle, Ewok Village, Rebel Transport, TIE Interceptor, Jabba with Throne, and Dagobah playset. So there is a lot of vintage stuff there. I'm not seeing the 12-back figure though.
Then today at the other Walmart in town I found Episode III legacy figures from last year made into two-packs (basically two carded figures glued back to back) for $7.50. They are from the wave that has FX-6, Stass Allie, Commander Faie, and General Grievous. Thought that was unusual.
Hmm... that IS unusual. I wonder if we'll be seeing any of the product Hasbro went in and pulled from the stores earlier this year, repackaged into these two-packs?
Those figures hadn't been at this Walmart for almost a year. I guess they must have found them in their warehouses and decided to slap them together and make them a two for one sale to get rid of them. I know they are from the original wave because I bought a pack with FX-6 in it and both figures contained parts for the RA-7 droid.
Six bucks at the local Wally World, too, with no Dewbacks still and none of these two-packs y'all mentioned. I finally realized my daughter likes SW figures and got yet another Artoo, so she has one, and I've got a lightning effect and another YVH part.
Anything above $30 is too high. I still remember the piles and piles of those exclusives at Target a couple of years back. I think they dropped as low as $17.48, if memory serves. I bought 3 at that price.
I read here on SSG that WM had lowered prices on figs from 7.46 to 6.00. Since I bought about 8 figs last Sat and still had my receipt I went in today for the adjustment. When I got up the return counter the girl looks at my receipt and says they only do adjustments within 7 days. Since it wasn't printed on the receipt, and I didn't see it posted on the wall I asked for a stupivsor. The stup came over and didn't even speak to me, just to the girl, and turned me down. I was ****ed and asked for a manager. Was told the only one on was the one that had come over, so I went and tracked her down. I explained the situation, pointing out that this policy was not printed on the receipt, in fact, what is printed on the receipt says "We want you to pay the lowest price." The stup came back to the return area and could not find the 7 day policy on the wall and gave me the difference.
Bastardos!
BTW, this WM had a ton of fig's out, but 95% were TCW, I didn't see any BAD fig's.
BTW2, last week when purchasing these figs at WM I noticed that a couple duplicates of the same figure had different BAD parts. Speaking of Agen Kolar sppecifically, but there was another.
WM doesn't like to price match. They'll do it, but try everything they can to get out of it. My favorite was last year: we bought a (pretty big) present for my daughter, then found it on sale at Target for $70 less. No joke. We took it in to see if they could price match it, and they told us Target wasn't in their radius to match, since the nearest one is about 20 miles away. (Never mind we live in the boonies, and everyone works in a city, near a Target.) My wife told them it was in our radius and had them take the thing back, and we bought it at Target.
Here's something a lot of folks have been waiting to hear:
Rancor. $24.98
Even Mrs Chux agreed the thing was a must-buy at that price, but was a ripoff at $50. She was flabbergasted when I said it was originally $40 (at which point we both agreed it would've been a "got to think about it, but leaning yes" item) but suddenly got jacked up in price by ten bucks.
I never really find anything great on clearance, but if I found another AT-ST for cheap, it'd be tough to pass on. Come to think of it, so would another Dewback, Octuptarra, or TIE Interceptor.
The Rancor is an annoying situation, since it was available online for so long before it got to stores. I bet most collectors who really wanted it got it when it was online, and that's why it stayed on shelves for so long (the aforementioned $10 price hike certainly didn't help, either).
Yeah, I rarely find stuff on clearance too... just had to get the evolutions sets though since I've passed on them at retail for so long. Closest target is about an hour away and I'm not sure if the rancor is worth driving that far for (that's even IF they'd even have him on clearance at that one).
For some folks, myself included, $40 for the Rancor wasn't unreasonable, but enough to warrant more thought. Trouble is, it leaped up $10, which is never a recipe for increasing sales. I thought they'd do their sneaky thing where they jack up the price for a few days, then do one of their "unadvertised specials" for the (former) regular price, saying it's marked down from the inflated price. But they never did.
I'm pretty surprised they went straight to 50% off, too. I know they've been languishing for a while, but if stores actually kept track of what their customers want and say they're willing to pay, they could've unloaded quite a few at $37.50 (25% off) and made an extra twelve bucks per Rancor. Oh well.
Depends on how many Walmarts are in a given area. Some regions have so many Walmart stores that they actually compete with each other. I think a "Walmart exclusive" is a bit of a joke since there are so many stores in a 40-mile radius here that exclusive toys aren't really all that exclusive.
Happily, I no longer collect the Hasblow stuff, so I need not worry.
They had CW, Legends, and Legacy all on the pegs, but they were pretty much all pegwarmers. The good news is that the pegs were not jam packed full of figures, so I hope that means that the items are moving in my area.
Too bad it'll be August before we get anything other than new CW figures. I've got a feeling that by the time that happens the pegs around here will be so full that we won't have room for the new vintage figures.
Snowtrooper
02-28-2010, 04:35 PM
Yeah, your probably right. They'll have 5-6 months to jam it full of CW pegwarmers. I thought I read somewhere that the vintage has their own asst number, so hopefully that will prevent CW and legends from blocking the flow of the vintage line. We'll see.
morpheus282
02-28-2010, 04:53 PM
I hope so too, but didn't Legacy and Legends both have their own assorment numbers as well? From what I've seen over the past eight months, CW is responsible for occupying 60% of the peg space, Legacy 30%, and Legends 10% when you can find them.
Wal-Mart has dropped their figures down to $6.97. I think this is a permanent drop rather than a sale since they used their regular price yellow stickers, not the red sale stickers. Unfortunately, it was pretty well picked over and there was nothing to buy except for a few CW figures.
I noticed this, too when I picked up the LC Zuckuss, Plo Koon, and Eeth Koth/Agen Kolar/Zabrak Jedi. Although the ONE WM Exclusive BAD set that I wanted (Coran Horn + green astromech) was on clearance for $17.00.
TRU's figures (at least where I live) are $6.99 each as well.
Target's pricing still seems tied to the NYSE or NASDAQ, as there prices keep fluctuating with no rhyme/reason.
I love how WM has "clearanced" these out at regular price. That, along with the AT-ST and dewbacks that I've found on the clearance aisle at regular price, makes me wonder if the WM managers in my area don't need a quarterly CAT scan to make sure they aren't totally brain dead.
I haven't seen any Wal Mart with marked down AT-STs or Dewbacks yet. I've checked many, many Wal Marts but to no avail. I never saw any of the Target Tie Fighters marked down either, now I don't see any Ties at Targets at all. Some of you guys are pretty lucky in your areas, I guess.
I have been finding a lot of marked down Avatar toys at Targets. I got the 6 legged horse and the robot suit. Both are pretty good items and a steal for under $5.
Also, Toys R Us are having a 2 for $10.99 on Iron Man 2 figures. I've been seeing the Marvel figures for around $6 now at most stores. I never picked any up before due to price, I collect SW and really don't want to start another line especiall at $8 - $10 a figure. But at $6, I may pick a couple of them up, especially the Iron Man figs.
I saw the Octuparra Droid and three sets of the Rebel Pilots at Ross today, along with another GIJoe Attack on Cobra Island set (with a paintjob on Zap's face so incredibly bad, I have no idea how it got past quality control).
Oddly, I don't believe they had the "Wal-Mart Exclusive" sticker on them.
My bad; it was $15.99. (The one that looked like a rhino sat on it was still there today.)
I scored two of the WM Evolutions sets at Ross for $10.99. I really wanted the Storm Commando, but didn't want the other two badly enough to drop $25 on it. Same with the Rebel Pilots; I just didn't want three more orange guys (girls, whatever) for that much. They definitely did not have the WM stickers on them.
Who had the "Best of the Saga" set, or whatever it was called (Vader, Maul, ROTJ Luke, Boba, and TPM Obi-Wan)? Wasn't it K-Mart? They had one of those, too. Easy, easy pass.
HTS sent me an e-mail about a sale going on. Lots of SW, GIJoe, and Transformers stuff. Trouble is, it's all stuff that is easily found in any store on earth (the ROC Dragonfly being the only slightly out-of-the-ordinary item I noticed), and the shipping costs are prohibitive.
I placed an order for the two sets, but I think I may end up receiving two of the same kind. They have two listings for the TFU sets, but the item numbers are the same no matter which ones you select. There are also no pics on the listings. I guess if I end up with a double, I can probably unload it somewhere.
Edit: I guess in the descriptions they list what figures are in each pack, but I still think I could end up with doubles since the item numbers are the same.
Found both packs at my local TRU Friday. Didn't have much money so I chose the Proxy pack. Went to one in San Antonio, and they didn't have them. Came back, and my TRU had the second one in stock. Luckily, I had the receipt in my pocket, and they re-rang them up so I could get the discount. Both packs for $45 plus tax! But in SA, I found Wedge's X-wing at 30% off. $35 is not bad for that guy! But I've blown my wad for the month, so I might have to try giving plasma if I find the remaining comic packs I need.:sad: I hate to ask, but has anyone seen the Dewback at Ross? Non-SW question for anyone else who's been checking out Ross.... There's a TRU exclusive six-pack of the Galactic Heroes-styled figures for Batman: The Brave and the Bold. It includes Batman, Kanjar Ro, Aquaman, Black Manta, and Blue Beetle, all of whom are exactly like the ones from the two-packs, and an exclusive clear variant of Gentleman Ghost. It costs more at TRU than three 2-packs. I have a feeling it's destined for Ross, since every TRU location has about three million of them, and since Ross has gotten some other B:TB&TB stuff. Anyone noticed these there yet?
The TRU sale (buy one item, get 2nd 50% off, but SW figs were down to $4.99 anyway) and the faact that I could actually see all the parts to a Build-A-Droid figure) got me to buy 6 more Legacy. The more significant aspect, is that such a purchase now puts me over the 1000 STAR WARS FIGURE MARK. :D Based on which ones I picked off the pegs first, I think that would make Zuckuss #1K.
Massive markdowns at Target, but not necessarily at all Targets.
The big deal was the Wedge X-Wing, which was $50 last week, down to $12.48. :eek:
Also, tons of GIJoe stuff on clearance. All stores had the ripcord vehicles and basic figures on sale. Most had the small vehicles on sale (though only the Mole Pods remained at most). One also had the large vehicles and deluxe figures on sale. (And another had received more Night Ravens, back to the original price. WTH?)
Wish I knew about the Target clearance before tonight.
I saw most of the merchandise had been picked already. Only a few 3 3/4 figs available, clearanced to $4.29 I believe.
I was just at Target and they clearanced all their Star Wars figures and vehicles. Most of the basic figures are cleranced at $3.98. They did not have many figures left. I seen this trend of the pegs being empty at many Targets and Wal Marts across the country. Are these big stores going to stop ordering Star Wars? I hope not but there have not been any new products lately. So it is making me wonder.
Though that's almost a month away and I haven't been to a Target in three weeks that had more than five Legacy figures and most of them are almost always the black Bespin guard. It seems funny to clearance the Star Wars stuff almost a month before they put the new stuff out. Sure, they want to give it time to clear out but it seems like it's gonna make for some very empty pegs for quite some time (they've already been mostly empty around me for a while already).
I agree. It makes sense to clear it out, and they've done so before. But it seemed like they didn't give much time between moving prices down ($4.50 at Walmart, $4.99 at TRU, $6 at Target) before removing the junk from the shelves. I know Target received extra shipments of newer Clone Wars figures, and those have seemingly sold through by now. I think they could have waited a few weeks, but we'll survive just fine.
He asks, "What do these buttons do?"
I said, "When it has batteries it makes sounds."
Jake says, "Well, put batteries in it."
Then I showed him the little fighter ship that bays at the side of the falcon. He is MORE INTRIGUED but that non-cannon stupid fighter vehicle than he is the BMF! I don't understand that. I guess that is the innocence of a six year old kid! He basically ignored some features I was trying to show him and kept playing with the little fighter ship. Kinda cool in a way. :)
what's cool is each figure comes in a Hasbro protective case...Thanks for the info, especially the cases, I've been looking to get a few more and that was a tipping point on these for me.
SWSCABIN is only $5 off orders over $30. I was going to order $30 of $5 items, yet even though the coupon info on their site SAID it was for $30 and up, it didn't work on exactly $30 and I wasn't willing to spend even more to make it work, so instead of getting more of my money, I chopped my order in half and only bought 3 items. Still, glad to get a few figs for $5 a pop, especially exclusives - I paid a lot for that stupid concept Grievous and seeing it for $5 wasn't fun.
The next day, all the $5 items went back up to $6.75 for their 25% off sale this week, they went up to go back down. Classy!
Oh, and how stupid is SWShop for using FedEx Smartpost? It shipped from Los Angeles and is now in Chino. Where is it going? BACK TO LOS ANGELES!!! That is not particularly "smart post".
Thanks for the info, especially the cases, I've been looking to get a few more and that was a tipping point on these for me.
SWSCABIN is only $5 off orders over $30. yeah I got my 50 cases last night and they look amazing with the TVC figures. Theyre like the Saga and Trilogy style case exept just a little bit bigger bubble but WELL WELL worth the money. Will deff be buying more.
After searching for a new code I found a new 25 % off code to use on Hasbro toy shop. “HOLIDAY2010” I just used it, and it works I just don’t know for how long. Remember its best to use it when your order totals more than $50.00 so you can quantify for the free shipping, then you really see the price come down on your order. Happy shopping :thumbsup:
My local TRU had the sale specifically saying they were only on figures regularly $7.99, so no Vintage (but they had no good figs anyway).
Time to check Kohl's....15% off plus 15% shopping pass plus Kohl's cash = Gamguards for $2.99....Went to three Kohl's and each had a fresh case of Wave 3....Initial waves with "no peg Lukes"
Yeah, but you'd have to have the Kohl's cash already, so it's not a straight-up sale.
Amazon has the Anakin Force FX lightsaber for $12.99. Get 'em while they last.
http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Force-Lightsaber-Anakin/dp/B0016PM722/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1260678444&sr=1-2
I got two of the Anakin lightsabers for $26 shipped.
Just got shipping notification from Amazon for one of my lightsabers. If the other one should get cancelled, at least I got one of them for $13 shipped. :D
Funny thing, I've been approving delays on the second lightsaber for a year now and when I finally realized that it had been a full year I decided to check their stock. Oddly, it was in stock and sold by Amazon so I called customer support. The lightsaber ships out tomorrow and should be here by the 14th.
Not sure if this has been posted before, but there is a closeout store in the Northeast, similar to Big Lots called Ollie's. As of last report they have Titanium series figures for $3 and 30th Anniversary figures at @5 as well as plenty of Mighty Mugg figures for $6 (plenty, but only two to choose from, Hoth Han and the Emperor). I picked up the last 30th Anniversary figure to be had.
I was just at an Ollie's today but no SW there. I'll have to try another one, I still need some 30th Ann. figures.
Went to TJ Maxx today and saw a Mighty Mugg (Gran Moff Tarkin) on clearance for $4. It was the only one they had, but in all fairness, if you have ever been to a TJ Maxx, it looks like they take their newly arrived merchandise and just spill the contents all over the floor and shelves. I didn't bother searching the whole entire store which conceivably, would not surprisingly hold more.
Hasbo Toy Shop is having a free shipping event for St. Patrick's Day. Sadly, the newer Vintage and CW waves are pretty picked over.
