Please post your VOTE for up to 6 {six} of the questions provided in this thread, letting us know which ones you most want to see asked on August 22nd. Keep in mind that your votes in round 55 do not count in this round, so if your question is still on the list you may want to vote for it again.
Also, feel free to post new questions. For reference, here are Hasbro's answers to previous SSG questions (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/index.php?categoryid=13&p2_articleid=1553); to ActionFigs.com's questions (http://www.actionfigs.com/index.php?categoryid=12&p2_articleid=1916); and from other sites (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/index.php?categoryid=13&p2_articleid=1298). The questions we asked last round can be found here (http://forums.sirstevesguide.com/showthread.php?p=632014#post632014).
Current questions (vote for up to 6):
- Twice during the prequels, a vehicle toy's MSRP was dropped significantly without any changes to its mold - the first being the Episode I Naboo Royal Starship which went from $100 to $50, and the second being the Republic Gunship which in the Saga line was $40 but subsequent releases were $30. What were the causes of these price drops? Why hasn't this happened with other vehicles in similar high pricepoints?
- What are the requirements that a retailer must go meet to get a Star Wars exclusive, do they have to be a certain size company, make a certain number of Hasbro orders a month, etc.? Is there some sort of process that a retailer has to go through to get an exclusive, do they work with Hasbro on what item to produce or is it out of their hands?
- 2007 was likely the best year ever for army builders. Every trooper - with the exception of the McQuarrie Concept figures - was widely available in large numbers, even in the heavily competitive Los Angeles area. Several battle packs reflected the love of army builders. Even the troops from the 2006 Saga line were available far into the year due to the delay in the TAC. Is this the distribution model Hasbro will be using from now on, where troops will be plentiful and the previous year's assortment will available into the next year's line?
- The Order 66 packs from last year were great and the new ones out now look just as good. How long will it be before we start to see these clones sold on their own though? It would be great to army build them but not on a 1 to 1 ratio with their Jedi commanders.
- Although the Cruisemissile Trooper vehicle has its share of detractors, including those at Hasbro, the concept and design have some fun and interesting toy merits, though not fully realized. Perhaps the original design could be embellished and resized to fit into either the current Starfighter Vehicle pricepoint or a Battle Pack or other smaller medium. And of course, this time around it could have a removable pilot and cooler features to make it a fun new vehicle with unique Star Wars credibility. Would Hasbro ever consider making an update to this vehicle with design and features befitting the modern line?
- Understanding that Mighty Muggs are a popular item, it seems that most stores rarely have any of these figures, and when they do it's only sparingly and from the latest wave. Will there be an increase in production of the line, or at least more product hitting stores, including older figures from the earlier waves?
- Concerning Indiana Jones, with the end of the pack-in relics next year, might there be another way for fans to get their hands on the cardboard crates - not assembled is fine - so that they can build up their Area 51 displays?
- Some fans have noticed that the white paint on the goggles accessory from the Droid Factory Han Solo Hoth exclusive 2pack is flaking off at an alarming rate. This obviously would be a disappointment for fans eager to get this version of Han Solo. What is the cause for this, was a new technique for painting used, was it a new paint altogether, perhaps the clear plastic for the goggles different and not taking paint, something even simpler like too much mold-release oil?
- There are a lot of different clones from ROTS being done in the CW line in the phase 1 (AOTC-style) armor such as the 501st Legion and 212th Battallion to name a few. Is there any chance that these clones will eventually get released in the realistic-syle phase 1 armor as well as animated-style?
- Since we're getting a phase I Odd Ball figure in the animated line, and a new super-articulated ROTS phase II armor Clone Pilot in the Imperial Pilots Evolutions set in Captain Jag colors, can we expect to see Odd Ball in his ROTS armor as a realistic basic figure, and if so, when? Should be easy, as it's just a helmet repaint.
- With the Dwarf Spider Droid being in the Clone Wars CG animated series, and aside from a few tiny issues looking pretty much identical to the one in AOTC and ROTS, might we possibly see a new Dwarf Spider released with more screen accuracy, actual leg articulation, and no wind-up walking feature? It'd cover both CG and realistic collectors' needs.
- After waiting over half a decade for a better R2-B1, many fans were very disappointed with the way the 2007 TAC R2-B1 came out. While he utilizes a superior body to the original version, the dome paint came out terrible. His dome is a dull, slightly purple, flat gray-colored plastic that doesn't look good and is out of place with every other astromech droid; the movie version had a silver metal dome only slightly duller than the average R2-D2 figure's (such as the silver paint on TAC #04 R2-D2, or R2-KT). Was the deco on the R2-B1 figure done so oddly on purpose, and if so, why? Is there any chance that we will ever get a better R2-B1 with a more metal-looking dome, perhaps as a build-a-droid?
- Why has Commander Faie been included as part of the upcoming ROTS wave when the character never actually appeared in the movie?
- Recently, Hasbro stated it was "less likely" that Aurra Sing would be updated with better articulation. Might Hasbro reconsider that position given the fact that she was a major villain in several comic series, and is an action-oriented character which thus merits a better-articulated figure? Aurra could go great in a comic pack with perhaps Sharad Hett, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Reess Kairn, Torgo Tahn, Senator Tikkes, Aayla Secura or even an updated Adi Gallia.
- In Hasbro's awesome Comic-Packs line, we've been treated to Marvel Star Wars issues 1-4, and Dark Horse Revenge of the Sith issues 1, 3, and 4. Any chance we could get comic packs of the missing Marvel SW #5 and 6, and Dark Horse ROTS #2, to complete their respective tales? (Just spitballing ideas: we could certainly do with a Leia/3PO pack for MSW#5 and perhaps a Rebel/Imperial Pilot set for #6, and ROTS #2 could use Grievous and a new deco Clone.) And what about Comic Packs for the other movie adaptation comics like Marvel ESB and ROTJ, or Dark Horse TPM and AOTC?
- The Comic Packs are great since the addition of the comic books give these characters much-needed context, as the average kid and collector who mainly know the movies will likely not know these characters without seeing them in some sort of action. That said, there are still several other expanded universe products that have no context other than the small bio on their packaging. Would it be possible for comic books to also be included in EU multi-figure sets or vehicles as well? For instance, fans of Crimson Empire are liking the look of the upcoming Crucible set, while those who are unfamiliar with the work think it looks more like a cross between Star Wars and Power Rangers.
- The Indiana Jones Temple of Doom wave has been revealed, pictures are out there, and the wave looks awesome! Fans are really excited about all six figures, one the most eagerly anticipated is Mola Ram, can you tell us if his headgear will be removable? If it's not, why not?
- Will we be getting any Battle Droid variants in the Clone Wars line, like Commander, Security, Pilot, etc.? Would it matter if the design didn't show up right away in the cartoon? After all, we know what the markings of a Commander droid look like already. And what about a Clone Wars Battle Droid figure that can hold its rifle 2-handed?
- On Mighty Muggs, understanding that you're not likely to do new bodies for the line any time soon, will fans ever be getting Battle Droid, Super Battle Droid, and maybe even an IG-100 Magnaguard Mighty Muggs figures? You did the spindly General Grievous as a Mugg already after all. Also, what Hasbro team does the designs for the Muggs and their packaging? Does each team - for example, Star Wars, Marvel, and Transformers - design their own Muggs, or is it centralized?
- The Star Wars product poster Hasbro gave out at Comic-Con had new figures on 1 side while the other featured Titanium Series vehicles in 3 battles. We haven't heard of any upcoming Titanium multipacks, themed waves, battle-packs, or exclusives that use these concepts though. Does Hasbro have anything special planned for Star Wars Titanium Series?
- With Titanium Series, could you fill us in on how decisions are made as to which new designs are taken to production, and how large a run that item may get? Are there Titaniums that Hasbro had to pass on due to budgetary issues (we know the Battlestar Galactic classic Basestar is one that you guys said wasn't feasible)? Should we expect to see more and more plastic used in place of metal on future releases? Any "favorites" and "most disappointing" Titaniums for the designers you guys might be willing to share?
- In Hasbro's GI Joe line's comic packs, they have moved beyond mere reprints to also feature entirely new stand-alone comics. Given that Dark Horse has released similar Star Wars comics to retailers in the past, have you considered working with them to commission new stand-alone Star Wars comics that feature highly-requested EU characters that otherwise don't appear in the comics and therefore have a lot less chance of being released as figures?
- Since you just gave us 3 of the 5 characters with their unique sandstorm costumes, can we expect Sandstorm Lando and Leia to finish out the sandstorm scene? There was some confusion about the Leia figure, going back and forth on whether it'd be done in the future, and we're not really sure where it stands now; and Lando simply didn't get an answer on at all. So, can we complete this nifty deleted scene some day, and when? Basics or battle pack, whatever it takes to complete the scene, right?
- With Sideshow having released a smashing diorama of the "Look Sir, Droids" scene, what are the chances of Hasbro doing a similar battle pack? It could include the escape pod (perhaps with the proper top hatch openable, or maybe the whole thing upsized) and an assortment of Sandroopers with a variety of pauldrons and accessories. Heck, if you threw in an updated dewback, you'd have quite the nifty ultimate battle pack. Any chance of that?
- Fans are always curious about the decision process that goes into picking which characters do (and don't) get put in a specific wave, especially when it comes to background characters. Could you shed some light on how you decided what figures were included in the upcoming ROTS and ANH waves, 2 waves with especially interesting and background entries, and by doing so give some example of the complicated decision-making processes which you've mentioned before that go into each figure and each wave?
- Not long ago, we asked which EU figures were their personal favorites and wishlist entries, but none of the ones listed were from the Marvel series. With the upcoming Lumiya figure (and by the way, who will she be coming with in that comic 2pack? Issue #96 suggests Luke from the duel, but perhaps someone else maybe?), what other Marvel figures might be on the team members' EU wishlists?
- Last year, Hasbro released the R2-KT figure while making a charitable donation to ensure that the spirit of a figure for the Katie Johnson charity was fully met before any were sold. With R2-KT appearing in the Clone Wars movie, is there a chance we could get animated R2-KT as a repainted animated R2-D2 figure in a similar charity-type release?
- While the AT-TE is an amazing toy, an issue has arisen that with the leg joints popping back out rather than supporting the weight of this massive vehicle. Inflicting battle damage can be fun for play, but only when it's intentional. Many fans report even slight pressure applied to the top of the vehicle - say, perhaps, like pressing a button to reveal the rear deck or set off sound effects - causes either hip or knee joints to pop out of their sockets. Are you aware of this issue? Is this intentional to avoid breakage, and if so, isn't it a little more aggressive at this task than need be? Will this be addressed in later releases or perhaps mail-away adapters or something?
- While we'd always prefer a worn paint deco on vehicles and droids, we understand sometimes the budget just can't do it. The next time you do a vehicle with a white deco where the budget prohibits additional weathering paint, could you please not use the clean-white color of plastic that you've used on the Clone Wars V-19 or the TLC Dagger Squadron B-wing? This white plastic is just too clean, it screams for weathering as it hides every sculpted line and gives an unwelcome plasticky toy look, while the slightly off-white colors of plastic seem to bring out the lines and look a little weathered better than clean.
- Will there be more droid repaints in the Clone Wars line? The molds already exist, so they shouldn't be too difficult to achieve. For instance, will there be TC-70 based on the C-3PO mold, R4-P17 based on the R2-D2 mold, or KRONOS-327 based on the IG-86 mold? TC-70 obviously would be a good companion piece to the upcoming animated Jabba you're developing, and Obi-Wan needs a droid to fit in his Jedi Starfighter's droid slot.
- In the Clone Wars line, a few scale issues have come up. Obi-Wan and Anakin figures stand pretty short compared to their non-animated figure counterparts, while Clone Troopers stand unusually tall compared to their non-animated counterparts, and obviously this means CW Obi-Wan and Anakin stand pretty short compared to the Clones. What gives here? Was this an intentional choice, and if so, why?
Vote now, and suggest new questions too. Thanks for participating!

"The Republic Gunship is a very iconic and prominent vehicle shown during episodes II and III as well as in (judging from the previews of) the Clone Wars movie/series. What can we expect in terms of Republic Gunship re-releases/re-deco beyond the Wal-Mart "Lucky Lekku" gunship scheduled for mid/late fall? Will they be wide releases or more store exclusives?"
and
"What are the chances we will see a LAAT/c variant of the Republic Gunship i.e. the version carries the AT-TE into battle?"

Based on the recent rumors, I'd like to add the following question (of course without mentioning the rumor, as Hasbro would spend the first half of the answer letting us know what they think about rumor list):
Between vintage and POTF2, there have been many Jabba's palace and skiff guards that were great sculpts for their time, but with moderning sculpting and articulation, are due updates. When will we see new figures for Wooof (vintage Klaatu), Kithaba (vintage Barada), Klaatu, Barada & Nikto (from the Jabba's Skiff Guards Cinema Scene), Pote Snitkin, not to mention the various Weequays that desparetly need a resculpt?
Feel free to reword, but I'm sure there are a lot of readers that would like to hear what Hasbro would say on this. Maybe even throw in a SA Gam guard in the question, but I'm guessing the more we add, the less chance they answer all of them.

Kithaba and Wooof (vintage Klaatu) are on the rumor list for next year. But I do agree that Weequay, Barada, and the Gamorrean Guard are in desperate need of a complete resculpt.

Right, that's why I started with "Based on recent rumors", but I would like them confirmed by Hasbro. After I posted, I also thought of Ishi Tib, which I believe needs a resclupt, thought I can't fully picture the figure now. Ree Yees, too, for that matter (again, going from memory). But like I said in the post, I doubt we'd get much information if we just list 20 JP figures. Maybe the way to go is to do 2 questions, one for Jabba's Place and one for the Skiff Guards. Submitting only one of the questions per time (if they get voted on) or doing one with SSG's Q&A and the other to AF's Q&A. Just a thought.

Well, I submitted a Skiff Guards question a few months back that Hasbro answered with a very positive "We plan to get around to making all of these guys."
So, maybe a new question could either focus purely on updates of POTF2 figures or Jabba's Palace.
I've learned that it's not a good idea to make the questions to Hasbro too broad, since they might focus on one tiny aspect of the question and leave most of it completely unanswered.

[quote=bigbarada;632851]So, maybe a new question could either focus purely on updates of POTF2 figures or Jabba's Palace.[quote]
I submitted a question concerning this several months ago, and the response was positive:
Q: There are a bunch of alien and droid figures from the POTF2 era that have yet to see upgrades such as: Nien Nunb, Ree Yees, Saelt-Marae (Yak Face), Orrimaarko (Prune Face), Admiral Ackbar, EV-9D9, ASP-7, Ishi Tib, Lak Sivrak, etc.. Is it likely that these guys will be upgraded with better sculpts and articulation in the foreseeable future or are we likely stuck with the ones we have?
A: Some of these will be upgraded in the foreseeable future. In the longer term horizon, we hope to see all of them updated some day.
Though the answer was hopeful, no specifics were given. Though I bet we'll see the characters with actual lines and screentime done first like Ackbar, Nunb, and EV-9D9.

Recent events have shown that's it pretty much impossible for us to predict what Hasbro is going to do next. Back in January, no one here would have believed for a second that Hasbro would release a $150 Falcon and a $100 AT-TE on the same day.
What makes sense to us, as collectors, doesn't necessarily make good business sense to Hasbro.

...and what makes good business sense to Hasbro, doesn't always really make good business sense - Choppers anyone? I would still argue making the half-@ss playsets in the past 15 years was a poor business decision and refusing to make quality ones today is another poor business decision.

Will they be wide releases or more store exclusives?"IMO, it's too early to ask about yet another Republic Gunship repaint (though I would like to see some remolds to the doors, since they no don't really match the show design). They don't do a lot of back-to-back repaints like that, there's usually a 9 month or so release window for each. I dunno, my instincts say this one shouldn't be bothered with, but is there a really good example of why we should be expecting more of 'em?
"What are the chances we will see a LAAT/c variant of the Republic Gunship i.e. the version carries the AT-TE into battle?"I don't think this is a viable variant. The carrier has a different, 1-man cockpit, lots of body differences, and is roughly twice as large (despite what Wookieepedia says, I mean, look at the picture (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Image:LAATc_Geonosis_1.jpg)of the LAAT/c with the AT-TE, it's a behemoth, compare that to the guys you can see in the regular LAAT (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Image:LAATi1280.jpg)) - the current Gunship body wouldn't be even remotely big enough to go around the AT-TE we have. I don't mean to be the dreamkiller here, but I just don't see how that'd be possible.
(Ask about a "should be easy helmet repaint" Phase I Oddball, but you have a hard time asking about an Arc Trooper Pilot? oh well :hurt:)Originally, the question was for 2 different figs, but one got made. Also, it helps that Oddball is a named character with a more unique design. Plus, Hasbro said at Comic-Con that the pilot in the Imperial Pilots Evolutions set which just came out is the one from the Hawkbat Battalion, which is what you're talking about (Hawkbat is who flew the shark-tooth Gunship in Clone Wars).
Based on the recent rumors, I'd like to add the following question (of course without mentioning the rumor, as Hasbro would spend the first half of the answer letting us know what they think about rumor list):

TheSithEmpire.net: What are the chances of seeing more of Jabba's henchmen, such as Kithaba, Wooof, Cane Adiss, and Loje Nella?.
Hasbro: We plan to do a couple of Jabba's henchmen/palace denizens in the "Saga" line each year as we go forward (actual mileage may vary, meaning we may not be able to get to as many as we want in a given year due to overall line balance and priorities). We know Jabba's palace is popular, like the Cantina, for some of the offbeat aliens that make Star Wars figure-collecting so fun.
and by us on Sept 1st of '06:
Q: Does the Star Wars team still have interest in seeing every original Kenner vintage figure redone in the modern line in some way (be it basic figure or otherwise), such as: Sim Aloo, Warok, Lumat, human B-wing Pilot, Hoth Rebel Technician / Tauntaun wrangler, black Bespin Security Guard, Woof (vintage Klaatu with the sheepskin), etc.? If so, any specific timeline for them? A: It's not a stated goal for the next few years, but it will probably happen eventually more organically... i.e next time we do an Ewok, for instance, it could be an update on original figures. But we haven't just slotted all these into a future line.
Kithaba on Jan 18th, '08:
JediDefender.com: Every year, you manage to knock off one or two figures from the “original Kenner figures yet-to-be-remade" list. Of the figures that are left (see the list below), who has the best chance of making it to the pegs in 2008? Will we see more than one of these in 2008?
- Death Squad Commander
- Imperial Commander (Black Tunic)
- Lumat
- Warok
- Klaatu (Jabba's Palace)
- Lars Family Power Droid
- Sim Aloo (Imperial Dignitary)
- Vintage Style Nikto
- Vintage Style Barada (Kithaba)
- Bespin Guard (Black)
Hasbro: Actually, in 2008 you will not see any of these. There are some of these on the 2009 list (which is still subject to change of course), but it will take a little longer than you'd like. But trust us, there is much OTC goodness to come in 2008.
Nov 17th of '06:
FFURG.com: One of the recent Q&As from another site regarding Jabba's dais got me thinking that there haven't been many new releases of Jabba's guards in recent years. Sure, there's been a good repaint of Barada and the resculpt of Boushh & Lando Skiff Guard (excellent job on both, I might add), but there's a bunch of good characters left to do. Hasbro's already produced some of the parts needed, including Bora Solq's head which could be used for a new Weequay. Could we expect some Hasbro love to Jabba's band of merry men with new Nikto or Weequay figures, Kithaba, or possibly Geezum?
Hasbro: They are very good figures to do, and we have them high on our list of guys that should see some attention with the new modern figure aesthetics. But, like many of the "wouldn't it be cool if." figures that are still out there to do, we just need to slot them into the line when we have an opportunity.
and Aug 7th of '06:
FFURG.com: In the TSC line, why was Barada (#004) a simple re-issue with "added" paint apps and not a complete repaint so collectors could have a Kithaba figure with red pants and a tan shirt?
Hasbro: Barada is the more well-known of the two so we went with him.
Weequay was from us on Aug 17th of '07:
Q: We appreciate the extra attention that Jabba's Palace has been getting recently, however there is a group of characters from Jabba's henchmen who have been seriously underrepresented in action figure form: the Skiff Guards. They are featured in one of the primary action sequences in ROTJ, but we haven't seen a new sculpt of any of these guys in over 8 years, and a majority of them have never been made in action figure form. Out of the 5 skiff guards on the "prisoner skiff" (the one bringing Luke, Han, & Chewie to their doom), we've only seen one made into a figure - Weequay - and even that figure is over ten years old. Any chance that we'll get figures of the other four and maybe an update of Weequay at some point in the near future? A: Yes, over the next few years you will see some more of these cool guards either get their turn for the first time or get a resculpt. You'll have to be patient though - we'll only be able to get to a couple new ones a year.
And nobody's asked about Pote Snitkin being redone before because he's SO esoteric. My problem is that this is a loaded question, everybody will vote for it and the end result will probably come out the same, "in the future" because we already have old ones for 'em. I tell you what, are there any other guards that haven't been done yet? If you can find me a few of them, I'll reconsider this one. And I'm staying away from the whole rumor thing, we don't deal in rumors here on SSG (site policy) and Hasbro's changing their official response to rumor questions soon for the worse.

Could we perhaps ask them why, with our second Grand Admiral Thrawn figure coming up pretty soon here, that they still won't give us a Thrawn figure with the "blue-black eyebrows" he's so frequently mentioned as raising in the books? Seriously, two figures now and neither with any hint of eyebrows in spite of numerous frequent mentions of them in the books...

I also have a question of my own:
Back in 1996 and 1997 Hasbro.com was my source for news on Star Wars figs. I remember as early as March 1996 I could look on the Hasbro.com site to see a list of every figure that was coming out over the next year. I remember seeing Luke in Ceremonial which was not in stores until 11/96 back in March. It listed everything that was coming out, even the B’Omarr Monk which did not arrive to collectors until late 96 or early 1997. The list was extremely accurate too. It listed every wave in order of it’s release and almost every date that was on the list was accurate within 2 months. I’m sure you can see where I’m going with this question... Today we get announcements on figs around predictable times and usually it entails just a few months of releases. It was nice to have an accurate upcoming list on Hasbro.com so one can budget their collecting and just to know what to be ready for. Today, whenever there is no comic-con, or major toy show we get nibblets of information on one or two waves and that‘s about it. Honestly Comic Con did not show that much, and I doubt that the majority of what was shown will be released in 2009. We will have all that was shown before Christmas. Why all the secrecy? Back in 1996, 1997, and 1998 Hasbro was very open with what they were doing. Why is news not so forthcoming now?

2 ideas after your reply. One, add the bit from JD about the Jan reply stating several were on tap for 2009 and see if they will confirm which ones and if they are still on tap. 2nd, I looked at a list of skiff guards from a blog entry at starwars.com and other than the Weequay, which I would love to see the same 2007 question reasked, even with the same wording because we should get at least one of the Weequay, I think the rest of the guards were boring human guards. I mean, I want them eventually, but I'd rather have the resculpts of the cooler guards first. I'll look for that blog again.

New questions:
1. How does Hasbro go about deciding which characters from the Cantina, Jabba's Palace or the various other "background" characters such as droids and senators to do in a given year. Is there a special process you follow in narrowing down the characters you'll produce before others? Do you tend to do ones that you as a team would like to see first, or is it primarily driven by fan requests (demands)? Could you shed some light on how you decided who made it into the upcoming ROTS and ANH waves?
2. Concerning the upcoming (and long awaited) Dice Ibegon figure being released next year, could you describe the decision and design process that went into completing her alien form? Was it given to a specific sculptor/designer to create or was it a group effort? How will this bode for other "bodyless" characters like Cane Adiss and Loje Nella? And as for the figure itself (which looks very sharp by the way), is it articulated at all or is she basically just a statue?

1) If you ever do bring back the Vintage Line, do you think we will ever see a Vintage Style Snaggletooth - with furry feet (as a kid this was the first figure I pulled off the shelf at T&G Allens when it was still big in England).
2) Could you tell me which of the Marvel Star Wars Characters you guys like, and is there any plans to create these figures in the future (by the way looking forward to the Lumiya and ?, would love to know who the ? is).
3) What is the chances that we will get both OT Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru new sculpts before 2012, seeing you have released the Lars Homestead with old POTF2 figures, which I do believe you did say you werent going to do anymore, if its to keep the price down can you explain what happened with the price point the new Lars Homestead will be.
4) Could you tell me why a New Sculpt Lak Sivrak was not Packed with the Dice Ibegon, seeing it makes more sense to us older collectors - and you do have a good sculpt of a Shistavanean Wolfman in Voolvif Monn which you could have easily Kit Bashed and got away with more easily.

Back in 1996 and 1997 Hasbro.com was my source for news on Star Wars figs.
That's interesting, since Kenner made Star Wars figures in 1996 and 1997. ;) :D
New question:
*Will we see TC-70 in the animated line, as a repaint of C-3PO? What about R4-P17 as a repaint of R2-D2? Speaking of which, is there an empty slot for her in Obi-Wan's Starfighter or a dedicated droid?
*You've said that we'll be seeing Jabba in the animated line. What about his much-discussed uncle, Ziro?

One of our Qs seems to have been lifted word for word by Raving Toy Maniac (http://www.toymania.com/news/messages/10560.shtml):
2. An Astromech Droid question... After waiting over half a decade for a better R2-B1, many fans were very disappointed with the way the 2007 TAC R2-B1 came out.
Answer: OK, here's what happened with this one. The dome was supposed to be molded in a metallic silver with a slight hint of color, and the sample was created and approved by Lucasfilm with spec's for a custom dome color. However, because it was not a standard color, the factory did not properly match the color in production, omitting the metallic. Due to our tight schedules, they started producing them and we had to accept as it was or throw our wave schedule in (further) disarray. We could look to further improve the color of the dome some way in the future, but right now we don't have another R2-B1 in the works.
Still, at least we got an extra question answered.

Because someone handed our question, word for word including the modifications I made to Dexter's original version, to another site who asked it in the last round. Please check with me first before doing that next time.
If you voted for it, consider that vote refunded.
I'll be getting to the rest of the posts here on Monday.

Something like:
While the AT-TE is really an amazing toy, there seems to be a glaring problem that many fans feel shouldn't exist on a $100 toy. That, of course, being the legs that don't seem to be able to support the weight of the toy and will fall off when the smallest amount of pressure is applied to the top (for instance pressing the buttons for the electronic features). Are you aware of this problem? Will this be corrected for later releases? And what do you have to say to the fans who think that a flaw this major should never have made it past your quality control in the first place?

Questions 25-27 added.
Could we perhaps ask them why, with our second Grand Admiral Thrawn figure coming up pretty soon here, that they still won't give us a Thrawn figure with the "blue-black eyebrows" he's so frequently mentioned as raising in the books? Seriously, two figures now and neither with any hint of eyebrows in spite of numerous frequent mentions of them in the books...This is going to be the same thing as the Baron Fel goatee answer we got before, Lucasfilm said they wanted it this way because that's how the character was portrayed in that comic. I just swept through Heir to the Empire #5 (I don't have #1) and Thrawn doesn't have eyebrows there, instead his eye socket area is all darkened, but his brow ridge is hairless.
Back in 1996, 1997, and 1998 Hasbro was very open with what they were doing. Why is news not so forthcoming now?I thought this was asked before in Q&A, but I can't find it. Anyway, they've addressed this before in some venue, and basically they don't want to get consumers' hopes up too early if there's a scheduled change or a cancellation down the line, which is often possible. During the era you mentioned, they were giving street dates that were accurate to within the week, but almost every shipping date they've had in the past 3 years they've beat to market by weeks. Also, there just wasn't as much product for the design team to juggle, so it was easier to budget and stick to that kind of schedule, especially in a market that was far less ravenous. And it helps that the fan sites have been doing a great job, especially with Q&A working out so well - if you hadn't noticed, Hasbro.com's updates have been pretty poor the past 7 years or so, their web-team just isn't up to the task anymore.
I'll look for that blog again.I have been avoiding a lot of "will you confirm from the following list..." questions lately because they don't get solid payoffs unless it's a full denial. The only times I go for those is when they have a close theme that ties them together, and even those are hit-or-miss. That's the thing, themed questions seem to get a little more possibility because it feels to Hasbro like a single question rather than just a shotgun blast of "make this, and that, and those, and this guy over here, and...!" which they don't go for. Hence, I asked for unmade guards from that scene.
They've answered this a few times, they're all kinda the same answer as the one we got on ActionFigs back on May 11th, '07:
ActionFigs.com: Can we please have a new, more accurate Dr. Evazan figure? The original POTF2 Cinema Scene figure has been repainted a few times, but the sculpt is still among the least-accurate likenesses of any figure that's never enjoyed a full resculpt. After all, he's got dialog in the movie and an action scene, and it is Star Wars' 30th Anniversary.
Hasbro: This is a good suggestion and one we want to pursue at some point. We weigh updating a previous Cantina denizen (like we did for Momaw Nadon) against offering a new never-before-seen figure in terms of what will most pique collector interest. We are definitely considering it, but it may be a few years before we get to him because there are some other cool ones still to be done.
Or this one from Sept 29th, '06:
ActionFigs.com: You were recently quoted as saying that in the 2007 basic figure line, the "alien slots" for that year were already full. Could you tell us what these various slots are (possibly something like "core character slot", "imperial character slot", "droid slot") and how many of each would be in that group? If not exact numbers, how about by approximated percentages?
Hasbro: We design any line with several levels of figure in each wave. The optimal mix is designed to have both kid and collector traction. It goes something like this: Some core heroes (very strong), some lesser but still know heroes, and then some (usually 2-3) collector figures. These collector figures are drawn from a number of core categories (troopers, Cantina aliens, pod racers, Ewoks, droids, alien Jedi, vidgame characters, Padme and other females, Jabba's palace denizens, Separatists, Senators, Jawas etc) that we know are embraced by, if not all collectors, a stronger and vocal subset. We try and spread it around so there is a good bet that most, if not all, of these categories will be represented each year. One hint... we are fans of Cantina denizens and it's a good bet there will be at least two every year until... well, we run out!
They have a list of characters they want to do, and they listen to what fans want, when we gave them the poll results at SDCC, they were very happy to see material like that because it does help them make those decisions. Basically, it's not just "we do what we like" or "we do what you like", but a juggling act of our interests, market interests, Lucasfilm interests, budget interests, and design team interests - it's their job to cut through all that to bring us the line we have even if it's not always the line we think we want, and by doing so carefully they are able to continue taking more chances and whittling those lists down even more next time. And of course, that didn't mention the whole "we plan by theme now" thing which is a nice convoluted chunk.
All that said, you mentioned 2 specific waves, and that is a different story altogether because we can get insight into something more tangible. However, both waves are figure-heavy ones, so I'm not sure they'll really walk us through how the decision-making worked for each individual figure. Still, I'll throw it up into the poll, and count your vote for it.
The figures are almost never a group effort, Derryl hands out the tasks to basically 1 of 2 different basic figure designers who takes it from there - we were told as much at SDCC. I am pretty sure what happens next is Lucasfilm provides resource materials, and the designer draws and then sculpts, creates a color key and then exploded diagrams, sends to LFL for approval then to the Chinese factory who takes that information and prototype, and translates it into tooling. So it's both a group effort and designed by an individual. Often, whenever there's no official visual reference, Hasbro is allowed to make up their own (as long as it passes LFL approval) and go from there - the most recent version of that is the extra cannons on the B-wing, mentioned in text but never seen, but it's hardly the first time they've made stuff up.
As for Dice's articulation, there's a seam mid-body so it's probably an articulation point, but those little arms don't look big enough to articulate; I'm not sure how much I want to add a question about just that part, you and the other folks here should LMK how much you want to see that added.
1) If you ever do bring back the Vintage Line, do you think we will ever see a Vintage Style Snaggletooth - with furry feet (as a kid this was the first figure I pulled off the shelf at T&G Allens when it was still big in England).Anything's possible with a future Vintage line, Hasbro had this answer on August 1st:
JediTempleArchives.com: We've been seeing some rumblings around the collecting community about the Vintage Figure concept. Rumors of figure lineups for later this year or beyond. And further indications that the concept might be extended to the Prequel era. HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING, if that is the case, what OT characters might we expect? And how would Hasbro approach packaging a premium style PT figure - on the classic Kenner-Star Wars style card, or on a reproduction of the PT style cardbacks?
Hasbro: We can confirm that there is no vintage line in development at this time, but we would like to see it return in 2010 if possible (don't give credit to rumors - they are often founded on wishful thinking). If and when Vintage returns, it will draw from a mix of all six films. We would stick with the classic silver & black if we did it rather than recreate/reinterpret the different films. The spirit of vintage, to us and most fans, is rooted in the classic Kenner line.
They generally would answer your specific question in degrees of likelihood, explaining why it'd be possible but wouldn't be very likely due to whatever. So for right now, I'm passing on this question until we hear something more concrete about the line or the character, whom we saw last in the POTJ line.
2) Could you tell me which of the Marvel Star Wars Characters you guys like, and is there any plans to create these figures in the future (by the way looking forward to the Lumiya and ?, would love to know who the ? is).We just asked them their favorite EU characters and got this answer on July 11th:
SSG: The Hasbro Star Wars team has discussed in previous Q&As their favorites and personal wishlists from the movies. Any hints though as to what characters might be on the team members' various Expanded Universe wishlists?
Hasbro: Sure! Our top favorites would include, in no particular order: Jaster Mereel, Nomi Sunrider, Darth Nihl, Deliah Blue, Jarael, Ysanne Isard, Winter Windmere, Valence the Hunter, Bastila Shan, Nom Anor, Guri, and Celeste Morne. To give you a little more info, it's likely 2-3 of these will be in the 2009 lineup, and likely that at least a couple of more will make 2010.
but none of those are Marvel, so I'll add the Marvel version of the question. I'll include the "who is she with" part but honestly, we all know it's gonna be Luke because they said it was issue #96, and that's their duel.
3) What is the chances that we will get both OT Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru new sculpts before 2012, seeing you have released the Lars Homestead with old POTF2 figures, which I do believe you did say you werent going to do anymore, if its to keep the price down can you explain what happened with the price point the new Lars Homestead will be.Where did you see them saying they wouldn't re-release POTF2 figures anymore? I don't remember anything of the sort. The new Homestead's pricing is $10 less than the Ultimate Battle Pack, and has a building with 100% new tooling to take up the space, that's where the budget went, as they said to us in this May 23rd answer:
SSG: The rumor mill had a Disturbance at the Lars Homestead battle pack appear in the Toys R Us computers, and recently a photo of a mock-up of this set has shown up. Can you give any comment on this set? The mock-up seems to show the old POTF2 Owen Lars figure which is well over a decade old and hasn't held up with the passage of time, will this be replaced with a new Uncle Owen? What other figures will come with the set, perhaps the April Fools Joke extra-crispy Owen & Beru skeletons? And does the igloo-type dome open to reveal an interior?
Hasbro: Details will be revealed at Comic Con, if not earlier. Collectors should not expect too much from the figures, though, as the building is the real centerpiece and what really cost us to develop. We can confirm there are still no extra-crispy skeletons in the package or elsewhere in the Star Wars lineup.
And as for Owen, they just said it'd be a while for him, so if he's not being done in the near future, neither is Beru. They don't plan past about 2 years, so asking about 2012 they're none too likely to give us a thumbs-up since so much would be in flux by then. Here's their Aug 1st Owen answer:
Toymania.com: Now that the WED Droid has been anounced, the only remaining droid from the Purchase of the Droids scene in ANH is 2X-7KPR. Any chance of seeing him in the next year or two, hopefully with a new SA Uncle Owen from ANH? Owen is the only character released in this scene that sorely needs an update!
Hasbro: We agree that Owen needs an update, but it'll still be a while before we get to him. As for the droid, we like the little guy... don't be surprised if you see him in somewhere in the 2009 line.
4) Could you tell me why a New Sculpt Lak Sivrak was not Packed with the Dice Ibegon, seeing it makes more sense to us older collectors - and you do have a good sculpt of a Shistavanean Wolfman in Voolvif Monn which you could have easily Kit Bashed and got away with more easily.Perhaps because he's not in the movie anymore, and we already have one. Seriously, if the choice was a Lak Sivrak redesign or an all-new cantina patron, which would anybody here prefer? The all-new guy.
There is a droid slot on those Jedi Starfighters, I thought everybody saw that mold already, it's in the SSG coverage of the slideshow.
As for droid repaints, they've already got one scheduled in R3-S6, so it's a little early to ask about more repaints until we see if there's even any future to the line that would make them vital. I haven't seen the CW "movie" yet so I dunno, are either of them particularly vital to the story?
Everything I've heard of Ziro the Hutt is in the negative category, so it's with the droid repaints, won't ask it until the CW line has found its legs.
Has Hasbro ever directly responded to the problems with the AT-TE's legs? Are they even aware of the problem? Do you think it's worth it's own question?
Something like:
While the AT-TE is really an amazing toy, there seems to be a glaring problem that many fans feel shouldn't exist on a $100 toy. Are you aware of this problem? Will this be corrected for later releases? And what do you have to say to the fans who think that a flaw this major should never have made it past your quality control in the first place? As far as I know, it hasn't been asked yet. I'll rework and add it. Vote counted.
Last year the pink astromech R2-KT was released at Comic Con with some proceeds going to charity. After seeing R2-KT appear in the Clone Wars, how about a repainted animated R2-D2 in Pink as a similar charity release?None of the proceeds on R2-KT went to charity, Hasbro wasn't allowed to do that, instead they sold them for profit but before they sold any they made a donation to charity around the amount of what they expected to make if they sold every unit at profit. I'll add the question, but I'll need to reword it a little for that.
Well, that 10 posts took me 3 hours to deal with.

I would still like a straight official answer from Hasbro about this issue specifically. I would imagine a character who's species doesn't have an officially determined anatomy would give the Hasbro team a little more to work out. I want to hear Hasbro's take on Dice's case specifically, and maybe get a clue about the future for Cane or Loje. And I'd also like some official confirmation about her figures articulation, not speculation on your part. Please and thank you. :)

I can understand the not asking some of those questions, which is fair and thank you for choosing to ask the Marvel one - I would love Kiro, but in all fairness it most probably will be Luke but you never know maybes that is why its late and wasnt shown at SDCC, as they were making Kiro.
However, I think this question is legit.

If given the choice of two all-new figures who have never been made in action figure form OR one all-new figure and one kitbash/resculpt, then I would most definitely prefer two all-new figures.
There are actually two wolfmen in the Cantina, so I would prefer to have the second wolfman (with the glowing red eyes) made than a resculpt of Lak Sivrak.

I would certainly hope, if Hasbro were to ever revisit Lak Sivrak, that they woulndn't just "kitbash" the Voolviff Monn figure. I would want them to start from scratch. I think we'd get a better figure that way. Not saying I wouldn't want a resculpt of him, but I would rather have Trinto Duaba before a resculpt of any other cantina patron first.

Hasbro has already stated the beak is removeable. I thought that was made clear awhile ago.

Questions 28-29 added.
As far as I know, it hasn't been asked yet. I'll rework and add it. Vote counted.Wow, what happened? I totally lost track of this one, sorry about this. NOW it's been added. I killed the "what do you say to fans..." part because it seems unnecessary, the whole question before it already asks that without being as confrontational. If you want to argue for that though, make that argument and I'll reconsider.
:)When asked about Hem Dazon, they just treated it as business as usual making this stuff up, and that's because it is business as usual. Tycho and I spoke with them specifically on making stuff like this up while we were at Comic-Con, and that's how they treated it, it's fun and it's their job. See their Aug 17th, 2007 answer:
GalacticHunter.com: How plausible would it be to do a figure of a background alien - such as Cane Adiss or Dice Ibegon - that do not have a pre-existing body design? You did an admirable job for Hem Dazon, so has there been any thought to doing these fan favorite characters as well? On Wookieepedia there has been much discussion about the characters' possible alien physiologies so perhaps you could refer to those discussions for design inspiration?
Hasbro: It is very plausible. Not only has it been done for Hem Dazon, as you mention, but also other figures as well that had little definition beyond a mask. Eventually, we'd like to get to all of the Cantina aliens, including Dice, so it's a challenge we will have to face at some point.
Cane is probably a little further down the list, but this Jabba's denizen would certainly be an interesting species to tackle. It's part of what they do. As for the articulation, we have some visual information, there's not much else to gain from getting an answer except a small piece of info we'll have in a few months no matter what. While I appreciate your enthusiasm on it, I've got to make an editorial choice that best serves the group by getting the most informative answers we can - if I was seeing more people talking about it in the forums, then I might go for it, but you're the only one who has ever brought up the question of what kind of articulation they're planning for the hand puppet figure that they made up a body for and is really an accessory. Nippet didn't even have articulation and nobody said anything, it's just not that paramount a topic at this time.
I can understand the not asking some of those questions, which is fair and thank you for choosing to ask the Marvel one - I would love Kiro, but in all fairness it most probably will be Luke but you never know maybes that is why its late and wasnt shown at SDCC, as they were making Kiro.I figure it'll be Luke because it's the whole Duel with a Dark Lady thing and Hasbro loves to push these comic packs with 1 lesser-known and 1 "hook" main character. It's especially frustrating for fans who want Kiro or Dani (hmm, Lumiya & Dani 2pack, I think that might be a tad popular :p), but it also makes sales more likely to folks who wouldn't buy it, which increases the chances of getting other comic pack figures made in the future. It's a crazy juggling act, that's for sure.
However, I think this question is legit.
Quote:
4) Could you tell me why a New Sculpt Lak Sivrak was not Packed with the Dice Ibegon, seeing it makes more sense to us older collectors - and you do have a good sculpt of a Shistavanean Wolfman in Voolvif Monn which you could have easily Kit Bashed and got away with more easily.
Perhaps because he's not in the movie anymore, and we already have one. Seriously, if the choice was a Lak Sivrak redesign or an all-new cantina patron, which would anybody here prefer? The all-new guy.
__________________________________________________ ____________
I am sorry but he's in the Recently released OOT DVD, and to be honest if it was a choice between Lak and a new one, I would choose the Lak Sivrak as it makes more sense to pack him in with Dice Ibegon.
Also they love kit bashing and re-packing figures, how hard would it have been to do that, with the Voolvif Monn to actually make a decent Lak.Here's the thing, I'm very sure it's not what the majority of collectors would want if it came down to a new Trinto Duaba or a revisit to Lak, they're going to pick the new cantina fig every time even if Lak were still in the film (he's not, Arleil Schous is the one remaining in the film, he looks similar but is a different species, a Defel, that mask is based on a hyena rather than a wolfman). And we actually did already ask them about Lak Sivrak last October over on ActionFigs. Also, the existing Voolvif Monn figure doesn't look anything like Lak Sivrak, they're much different from each other in the way the face is shaped. Believe me, I not only wish I could get all our questions answered, but I also think Lak Sivrak is way cooler than Trinto Duaba (or Ketwol or Melas). However, for right now, I just don't think the end results are going to be anything particularly positive or fresh, and collectors won't dig the idea.
I'd still like to add:
Will the beak on the upcoming Sarrlac be removable in order to satisfy collectors who prefer the original, non-special edition version of that iconic creature?I answered this last week in the other Q&A thread, they confirmed at the Q&A panel that the beak is removable and leaves a hole that you can push figures through to simulate eating.

Actually, that was my question from Galactichunter thank you, so I am very aware of their answer. That however is not the question I'm asking this time. I'm asking them to shed some light on Dice's design process specifically as, unlike Hem Dazon's species (Arcona), the Florn Lamproid's anatomy has never been fully realized until now. Same with Cane's species (Yuvernian) and Loje's which is still in question. Plus, while you and Tycho may have gotten the opportunity to talk with them about this subject, the rest of us collectors did not. So it would be nice for Hasbro to address all of us regarding this matter.
The articulation thing was more of an afterthought and doesn't really need to be part of the question if you don't want it to be. I realize we'll be seeing more of this figure soon anyway so it's not as important to me.

As for droid repaints, they've already got one scheduled in R3-S6, so it's a little early to ask about more repaints until we see if there's even any future to the line that would make them vital. I haven't seen the CW "movie" yet so I dunno, are either of them particularly vital to the story?
They're not super-important but TC-70 gets a fair amount of screentime since she translates everything Jabba says and has one or two extra scenes. R4-P17 zaps a Jawa but otherwise doesn't do much, but I'd still like to see her. Also, KRONOS-327 would make a much more interesting version of the IG-86 figure they've already done; he gets mentioned by name and interacts with Padmé a fair bit. Maybe the question could be something like:
*Will we continue to see more droid repaints in the Clone Wars line? The molds have already been done so it wouldn't be too difficult to do. For instance, will we be seeing TC-70, R4-P17, or KRONOS-327, all of which could use existing molds? TC-70 would be a great companion piece to the previously-announced animated Jabba the Hutt, and Obi-Wan needs a droid to pilot his new Delta-2.
Also, another question:
*Has the performance of The Clone Wars in theaters changed your plans for the animated line at all? The movie made back its production cost but little else and was greeted with generally negative reviews (though the fan community seems to like it). Will the line continue as planned or will it be scaled back?
For now, I will vote for 10, 15, 16, 22, 23, 25.
Number 4 should be changed since two of those clones (the yellow ARC Trooper and BARC Trooper) are coming in Saga Legends.

Proposed new question:
In response to another site's question of 8/15/08, you commented on the possibility of figures from earlier Star Wars TV programs. Your answer included the statement, "we cannot approach the Holiday Special." However, you've already made two Holiday Special figures (Zutton and Boba Fett); Zutton does not even appear in the movies, and the Boba Fett in question was very clearly the "First Appearance" version from the Holiday Special (artwork from the cartoon even appeared on his cardback). Can you elaborate on why the answer was worded in this way, and what the situation is regarding other Holiday Special characters? Specifically, is this a mandate from Lucasfilm to not acknowledge the Holiday Special at all, or a perceived lack of interest on Hasbro's part? (Though Lucas may not want to admit it exists, and no one seems to like it as a whole, certain key characters like Ackmena, Goormanda, the new Cantina denizens, and Chewbacca's family would be welcomed by many collectors, simply because they're cool new aliens and Bea Arthur, and who could refuse a Bea Arthur action figure? Some of us might even "army build" her!)

Sorry for the double post. Another proposed question, which is not intended to be as ridiculous as it might sound:
Noa Briqualon from the Ewok movies has a bit of a cult following, probably because he's played by Wilfred Brimley, and, as we all know, Wilfred Brimley is one of the coolest men to ever live. It may sound like a joke, but would Hasbro consider producing a Noa figure as a convention or online exclusive, with a portion of the proceeds going to a worthy juvenile diabetes-related charity? (And, yes, this is a serious question.)
A referance to Lucasfilm by Hasbro in their answer to the question about the droid slot in the Y-wing reminded me of a question I wanted to ask but had forgotten - obviously don't consider it if its an easy answer.
In a previous Q&A Hasbro explained why the ewok figure from 2007's 2-pack resembling the vintage Lumat was called Graak rather than Lumat for the 30th anniversary collection. This was apparently a choice made by Lucasfilm. Did they give a reason why Lumat couldn't be released at that time? Why would it matter at all? Generally speaking why would lucasfilm veto a given character choice, particulary where it doesn't even involve actor likeness rights.

'Nother proposed new questions:
The current stance on the Build-A-Droid waves is that waves of all new figures will be packed with astromech parts, and repainted figures will be packed with protocol droids (or Death Star droids). However, some collectors may not want some or all of the repainted figures (especially additional Clonetroopers, EU characters, and hologram figures). As the tooling exists, would it be possible to get some of the higher-demand protocol droids (especially RA-7) released as carded figures or an online exclusive in the future?
It's the kind they might dodge, but I'd like an answer. I don't need crap like Clonetrooper Fred and Clonetrooper Ralph and Hologram Dooku. But I'd love the droid.

Hasbro has changed the Q&A policy, it is now going to be every 3 weeks instead of every 2 weeks, and answers will come in on the Tuesday a week after they were submitted; also, the sites' submission time has been cut back 3 hours. This may be a bit of a strain on Q&A, there will be tougher standards to add questions to the list, and one change will be that these threads will end on Thursday night now instead of Friday afternoon, so please make sure you get your votes in early from now on.
Question 30 - 31 added.
Question 4 stricken (because they've started doing what was asked.) If you've voted for this one, consider your vote refunded.
I realize we'll be seeing more of this figure soon anyway so it's not as important to me.And I'm telling you, this is what they told us is what there is to it:
- they make a list of figures they are scheduling;
- LFL sends them resource materials, which they scour;
- if there are visual materials or written descriptions, they design from them;
- if there are no visual materials, they draw something up from their imaginations that they feel fits "just off-camera";
- then they send the concept to LFL for approval;
- if not approved, they take those notes and rework the concept, then resubmit;
- if approved, they continue to design the figure and send the materials to the Chinese factory who turns that into molds.
It's literally just "making stuff up that seems to fit", that's what they do. What more are you expecting? They're not writing a detailed cross-section on their anatomies, they're just coloring inside the lines LFL gives to create something new, using whatever existing evidence they have to help guide their design choices, that's the art and creativity which gets them to where they are in the company. What do you expect to get out of the question?
They're not super-important but TC-70 gets a fair amount of screentime since she translates everything Jabba says and has one or two extra scenes. R4-P17 zaps a Jawa but otherwise doesn't do much, but I'd still like to see her. TC-70 would be a great companion piece to the previously-announced animated Jabba the Hutt, and Obi-Wan needs a droid to pilot his new Delta-2.Alright, you got me with that 3rd one, that's a more rounded, meatier question. LMK if you want to change your votes to include this one, tho' at this point I'd suggest waiting until next round to start voting for it.
Also, another question:
*Has the performance of The Clone Wars in theaters changed your plans for the animated line at all? The movie made back its production cost but little else and was greeted with generally negative reviews (though the fan community seems to like it). Will the line continue as planned or will it be scaled back? The line was always planned to connect with the show, not the last-minute movie, so I'm not going to ask this one. Still, I suspect with the low turnout for the movie, the show will be low-rated as well and not go the distance, which will hamper the line, but that's just a personal theory. I suppose we could ask your question as a hypothetical, "with the movie not doing well, what would happen to the CW line if that lack of enthusiasm carried to the show and it was dropped early?" but I have a feeling we won't get an entirely candid answer - still, if you wanna give it a shot, hit me with a more rounded version of that.
Number 4 should be changed since two of those clones (the yellow ARC Trooper and BARC Trooper) are coming in Saga Legends.Good call, I cut the question since it's asking when it'll start and now it's started.
I very much doubt the movie will have any effect on the toy line, since Lucas wasn't even planning on making a movie to begin with.
The TV Series will be the driving force of the toy line.Dangit, now I wish I had just read to that post so I wouldn't have to type all my response up. :p
Probably not, but who knows.
Another question, actually:
*When placed next to realistic-style figures, some of the animated-style ones are much shorter than their counterparts (particularly Anakin and Obi-Wan). Was this a deliberate choice, and if so, why?Obi-Wan is short compared to all the figures in the line, while the Clone Troopers are too tall compared to regular line Clones. I'll ask about both scale issues.
Proposed new question:

Some of us might even "army build" her!)I'm not adding a question about this right now only because I am intending to follow-up on our "new Fans Choice poll exclusions" question from last week on this, they said the only no-go figs were Tonnikas to us, then say no Holiday Special figs to another outlet, so I'm hoping we can get clarification that way. If they don't clarify in this round's answers on Tuesday the 2nd, then ask the question again please.
Sorry for the double post. Another proposed question, which is not intended to be as ridiculous as it might sound:

It may sound like a joke, but would Hasbro consider producing a Noa figure as a convention or online exclusive, with a portion of the proceeds going to a worthy juvenile diabetes-related charity? (And, yes, this is a serious question.)I'm not going to add this one right now because I've not seen any buzz about Noa the way we were seeing with Ackmena, which is why I asked the question about her when we did. Also, as the way the charity donation went down with the R2-KT figure, it seems they don't do "proceeds going to charity" on these sorts of things, instead they make a donation of what they expect to make and then sell the figures for profit, this ensured they would never make a profit on it but they couldn't say it was no-profit technically, it was a mess.
New question,
Can we expect to see a Nute Gunray and Wat Tambor figure in the Clone Wars line, and any other Separatists that should happen to show up in the Clone Wars TV Series?I could swear they were asked that recently about separatist leaders, but I cannot find the answer. Anyway, I'm not going to add this one right now because the answer is almost certainly going to be the same as all the Clone Wars answers and Separatist answers, "maybe, in the future, we know they have fans but they're not that popular so it depends on how they're used." Let's see what happens with the show and wave 2's performance first, then re-ask it.

That's not right at all. The plan is that waves with 8 figures will have 2 different BAF astromechs in that wave, while waves with less than 8 figures will have 1 BAF protocol droid because it requires 6 parts to build them rather than the astromechs' 4 parts. Wave 4, the ROTS wave, is all new figures and has protocol parts.

Ok, that's it for this round. Thanks again to everybody who has participated.
Here are the questions we sent in this round:
Since you just gave us 3 of the 5 characters with their unique sandstorm costumes, can we expect Sandstorm Lando and Leia to finish out the sandstorm scene? There was some confusion about the Leia figure, going back and forth on whether it'd be done in the future, and we're not really sure where it stands now; and Lando simply didn't get an answer on at all. So, can we complete this nifty deleted scene some day, and when? Basics or battle pack, whatever it takes to complete the scene, right?
With Titanium Series, could you fill us in on how decisions are made as to which new designs are taken to production, and how large a run that item may get? Are there Titaniums that Hasbro had to pass on due to budgetary issues (we know the Battlestar Galactic classic Basestar is one that you guys said wasn't feasible)? Should we expect to see more and more plastic used in place of metal on future releases? Any "favorites" and "most disappointing" Titaniums for the designers you guys might be willing to share?
While the AT-TE is an amazing toy, an issue has arisen that with the leg joints popping back out rather than supporting the weight of this massive vehicle.
Fans are always curious about the decision process that goes into picking which characters do (and don't) get put in a specific wave, especially when it comes to background characters. Could you shed some light on how you decided what figures were included in the upcoming ROTS and ANH waves, 2 waves with especially interesting and background entries, and by doing so give some example of the complicated decision-making processes which you've mentioned before that go into each figure and each wave?
Recently, Hasbro stated it was "less likely" that Aurra Sing would be updated with better articulation.
With the Dwarf Spider Droid being in the Clone Wars CG animated series, and aside from a few tiny issues looking pretty much identical to the one in AOTC and ROTS, might we possibly see a new Dwarf Spider released with more screen accuracy, actual leg articulation, and no wind-up walking feature? It'd cover both CG and realistic collectors' needs.
As well, we asked for clarification and follow-up on the question of Obi-Wan ANH's articulation, the Millennium Falcon answer, Battlestar Galactica Titaniums, and whether the Holiday Special is or isn't allowed to be made.
Look for a new round of voting soon.
