View Full Version : Titanium Prototype/ Test Shot on eBay

Just found what must be a first for the Titanium Series... supposedly a Titanium Vader TIE test shot or prototype from Hong Kong on eBay.
Looks legit to me, based on the Action Fleet ones I've seen. Kewl!
Check it out...
The proto collectors (not me, not rich enough) are starting to get their Platinum Amex cards out... I'll see how much it ends up going for.

Nice find, looks legit to me too. I bet the market won't support more than $50 for the item and that $25 shipping.

Looks like this one is made of Zamac with some resin parts. Should be pretty heavy.
This one would be a nice addition to any collection.

Yep, I keep an eye on that seller... he's definitely got access to interesting and timely stuff at the factory or tooling department. I'd love to see what they've got at the Hasbro design house in Rhode Island.
The Vader TIE prototype went for $32 + $25 shipping on only 2 bids... a total of $57 USD.
JT, you called it right on the price it went for... though the seller was stupid to only leave a week for word to get around for such a unique item. Then again, I wonder if he's trying to avoid a visit from the Chinese State Police... how do you say "hot" in Mandarin?
Sicqnus... always good to hear from you, AF Uber Guru... y'know, I had to look up what the heck Zamac was... link below. Now is that Zamak 1, 2, 3, or...noooooo!
Learn something new every day... think I'll get a codpiece made of zamak to frighten the clergy. Mwa-ha-ha-ha. Titanium testes. I don't like the idea of zinc pest down there, though.
Sicqnus, has Atlas only released the few ships you've posted pictures of? What happened to their humungous list and how many have been released? Did you ever hear if they'd be shipping worldwide? There are a couple I'd love to have... aren't they doing a Naboo Yacht and the Outrider? Drool...
Sicqnus, if you ever get a chance (and the inclination), I'd love to see head-to-head comparison shots of the same Atlas and Titanium ships next to each other... just to see how they stack up.
Anyhoo, not a bad price for the proto, considering the crazy money that the AF ones went for.
Then again, some of the AF protos were ships that were never produced so they were unbelievably rare (and costly) ... and the TS Vader TIE is too big, IMHO. The JC Penney one is in a better scale for the other Titanium TIEs... and it's grey, not blue.
In what's sure to be a rather underwhelming auction, the seller has posted "blueprints" for that ship for sale on eBay... pic attached below:
I wouldn't pay more than 2 quatloos for it... but it is kinda interesting 'cuz we've never seen one before...

Blueprints my aunt fanny, that's ridiculous, that's just a first step sketch! That thing is the beginning of the process, not the end. Heh heh, quatloos, good one!
I bet the Chinese don't care about this, only Hasbro might and only for liability concerns over safety.

Quite obviously not AF related, but at least proto related. I finally got around to taking (slightly) better pictures of the HMS Bounty prototype with the camera I got at Christmas, yeah only took me half a year to get around to really figuring it out, and my photography still bites. :p
Note: Ignore the dust on the production HMS >_>

It seems like you are too close to the subject, you have to either put it in macro mode and make sure it focuses correctly on the vehicles, or take the shot from more than 1 foot away.

Looks like that HK seller has another test shot up on eBay for $30... gotta say I've never seen one that looks quite like this before.
Not sure if it's legitimately a test shot, or just cobbled together later from factory scraps and various parts from available Titanium AT-ATs.
The blue guns and that weird umbilicus do look real to me... it probably is what they say it is, based on the seller's history.
Good luck bidding, proto people.

It's a Titanium test-shot, no doubt about it.
It seems it comes with the display box.
