So how do you walk in a circular Death Star? I mean, are there polars on that station? They had elevators and stuff so I assume everything is built in one direction but it seems to me to be a bit of a waste if everything is built right-side up in one direction.....spheres are more effective planet shapes than cubes.

And if it's a star, did it radiate its own light?

I think there's a whole thread about this very question in the archives somewhere.

I think the gist is that the DS was not built with "one way up" as such. Instead, much like the surface of the Earth, the "top" is the surface and the layers (floors) go down parallel to the surface. Clearly there are gravitational issues with such a design, but we have to assume that the the DS rotates to create gravity or it has some kind of futuristic gravity generator.

And no, it does not generate its own light. It is not a "star." It's just called Death Star because it sounds ominous. :)

I remember a long thread about this too. Stilla's explanation works for such things at the laser towers on the surface but doesn't work for the landing bays or manned laser guns. That is what leads to a long debate. :)

I gues death makes star sound ominous, but most people don't fear stars....now a Death Globe would scare the living $hiat out of me....lol
