Has anyone heard anything about what is upcoming in 2009? The Snowspeeder and X-wing are already avaliable to pre-order and I have read that they are hinting pretty heavily towards either a ATAT or Slave 1, But otherwise I havnt heard anything about which characters or cinema scenes etc.
There are a bunch of new character options with the tv series, and with the list compiled on other threads here there are lots of wishes from fans.
Any new romours floating around out there????

These guys tend to fly under the radar in the Hasbro Q&As. I'm guessing we'll get some info. at Toyfair.

An AT-AT would be awesome, they could really play up the "personality" of the vehicle in this format.

Since there is so much speculation regarding the ATAT, if (and I hope they do) they do it, I sure hope they get it right.
for example, i havnt seen them lately but i remember when i was a kid, the legs moved, the hatch on the side opened. Electronic sounds should be a no brainer as well as moving guns, similar to the x-wing.
the driver is a probable fig as a repack, but i would hope for a new fig too. Mabey even a new version of a snow trooper too.
If they announced this now, I would buy a couple of the snowspeeders instead of just the one i have preordered :)

Still being a bit vague, but this was posted on the Hasbro Q&A
YodasNews.com (Mark): Are we going to see more Galactic Heroes based off the Clone Wars line (specifically from the new Animated Series). And if so, will we also see some sets specific to certain episodes and adventures?
Hasbro: Yes, in fact most of our upcoming Galactic Heroes 2-packs will be based on the new characters from the animated Clone Wars series. We will also look for inspiration for Cinema Scenes sets as well, such as the currently available Obi-Wan with Starfighter.
YodasNews.com (Mark): Again related to the GH line. Many children (and collectors) enjoy army building with these little guys as well, any chance we will see 4 packs if solid clone and solid battle droids in the future?
Hasbro: We do not have a 4-pack format available in the Galactic Heroes. Instead, we are sticking to the bread and butter 2-packs and Cinema Scenes, which have been a big hit. We occasionally do troop-oriented packs in both assortments, and will continue to look to these options to round out the line.

Hey, so I saw the new singles on the front page and I don't think we've seen that Grievous before, have we? Why would they release a new figure in the singles format instead of sticking it in a two-pack with a relrease or build a battle pack around it and sell more figs?

That is definatley a new Grievous... way better than the old one with one light saber and one blaster. I kind of like the idea of single packs. For instance, they have the different colored phase 1 clones in 2 packs with other episode 2 characters and the last thing I need is another episode 2 obiwan or anakin. If I could buy the clones from those packs seperatly for even 60- 65% of the price of the 2 packs I think I would. I know that there has been questions to Hasbro about army building clone packs in the past, but that would sure be cool too.

http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HS87842H
We knew we were getting a new Grievous from the single card pics, but there is also a new Ahsoka, Kit Fisto, and Yoda. The new ARF trooper, Lt Thire and IG-86 look sweet. These figures just get better and better with every new wave. I love the new storm trooper post as well. I know these are for my 4 year old, but I sure get excited to see new figures myself!

That is awsome. When my 4 year old niece comes over to play with my son she has a lot of fun with his Star Wars guys. It is awsome to see my son instruct her on how to "play right" and who belongs on which team. It is funny how hegets frustrated when she does it wrong. I've even seen hip do the "forehead slap" and the "pinch the bridge of his nose between his eyes and shake his head and sigh" move... I wonder where he get that??? I am totally in favor of buying Star Wars toys for girls too.

The Slave 1 looks awsome and I knew that they would re-release the Falcon at some point... too bad I overpaid a bit the one on Ebay a few months ago...

I saw the Slave I image yesterday and I was excited to add the ship to my grown GH collection but I'm a little disappointed it doesn't come with anything new. The Boba Fett is almost as old as the line and the Han in Carbonite came out with Leia Boussh and Dune Sea Skiff Han maybe a year and a half ago.

I know a photo of a mock-up that looks like a Death Star that people keep going back and forth on (some say it's for GH some say the 3.75 line) but it's cardboard. If there's a molded version I'd very much like to know where to look.
sonofsokol

I didn't mean to say that the Boba Fett and Frozen Han were new, just that they were included in the set. The Slave 1 is a case of new ship with old figures. The new falcon set on the other hand, appears to be a case of old ship, but new figures. Old figures with new ships is dissapointing, but I'll take them to get the Slave 1 anyday. I guess Ebay is always an option for the old figs... I have several episode 2 Kenobis and several Luke in X-wing suit.

Now that I re-looked at it, it does appear to be molded out of production cardboard. Almost like a screen scene box set. The picture is a month old but still a nice view.

Well it's funny that they are including the Nien Numb figure which is due to hit pegs in the next few months with Admiral Ackbar. I'm not sure if that makes it a new figure but the General Lando sure is. And I'm guessing those Rebel Commandos are repaints of the Endor trooper? I guess they could be just straight repacks. I think I'll cruise eBay for the Lando or wait for him to be rereleased in a two pack.

The Slave 1 looks nice, but why did they make the front [I]nose[I] so small? It appears that making it an inch or so would eliminate the odd, smashed look. It appears as if they tried to make it too cute.

Cool, the Falcons being re-released. And also Slave-1 finally being made. Looks like I might have to get 2 of each. 1 for myself and 1 for my son. I wish they would do some a couple sets for the Force Unleashed, Galen Marek and Juno Eclipse, General Kota and Proxy, Maris Brood and Bail Organa. And I think a GH Rogue Shadow would be awesome. But, I curious, and is a ARF Trooper??? Shouldn't that be ARC Trooper???

I've not bought any GHs for a while, but received four new sets today - Ackbar/Nien Nunb, Chewie/Mouse Droid/Death Star Droid, Stormtrooper/RFT and Grievous/Kit Fisto.
All look great, but so far I've only opened Ackbar and Nunb - they're so cool, really suit this style.
I passed on the jawas, as two of the figures are repacks - I'll try and get the one new jawa loose sometime.
I also didn't bother with the other CW sets, though I really want the new Yoda. So if anyone wants to army build the clone he comes with, and doesn't need the extra Yodas, please let me know!

So I saw the Sail Barge and Medal Ceremony sets at Toys R Us today.
I loved the look of Max Rebo and Droopy, but I just couldn't justify it for just those figures. If I hadn't bought the Slave Leia and R2 2 pack I may have pulled the trigger. Dang, I really liked Max and his keyboard.
The medal ceremony set looks great, but with no "big" figures or vehicles, it just didn't seem worth it. I think only the Luke and Leia are new in that set. The medals looked cool, but my son would most likely just lose them anyway.
If I did not have all the figures that are in the sets I would have got them... too few new figs to justify the purchase.:upset:

Yeah I saw these sets yesterday and was disappointed. The Leia from the Medal Ceremony is neat but aside from Luke, all the others are repacks and not worth the price. If the Barge set would have left Luke and Fett out and added Snoodles and Crumb it would be worth it. Frankly, I'm tired of all the Fett repacks. Especially since we are getting a new one soon.
Is it just me, or does it kind of feel like they are trying to kill the big sets. Even though they are giving us great vehicle packs, the vehicle packs will end up grouped in with these figure sets which are mostly repacks. In this economy, most people are going to pass on the repack sets, dropping sales. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.

I definitely think that you're overthinking it. Cinema Scenes, even if they are filled with re-packs, may not sell too great with collector's in a down economy, but the will sell very well with parents who are buying for kids in a down economy.
$8 (on average) for a 2 pack, or $25 for a 10 pack (or a vehicle plus figures) mean that for roughly the same amount of money (three packs = 1 Cineam Scene) you get more figures for less, plus you get a cool backdrop/playset.
From what I have seen at my local stores, Cinema Scenes sell at least as well as the two packs, if not better.

I think these sets are great for kids/collectors who are just getting into the the sets. Like you said, they are a good value. My problem is that we have only been into the Galactic Heroes for a little over a year and already have so many duplicates, triplicates, and quadriplicates(?) of some figures. The problem is that you have to buy a bunch of repacks to get the 1 or 2 new figures.
The thing that really made me sad was in the last Q & A, one of the sites asked about the GH AT-AT and they said they ran out of space in the planogram so it had to be put off. It seems so crazy to bump what would have been the "prize of line" (after the millennium falcon perhaps) for these sets with one or 2 new figs. Like I have said earlier, I would buy at least 2 maybe as many as 4 or 5 AT-ATs, but will pass on most if not all of the multi-figure packs. I may have to cave and buy the new Jabba set though, that Max Rebo is sweet looking.
Looking forward to the AT-AT in 2010

When I first started collecting GHs for my son (before he was born), I thought the cinema scene sets were great, as I was able to catch up on what I missed. Then I got down on them last year, because of the re-packs. Now I'm taking the glass half full approach as I am a completist with these. My son is 2.5 and with all the duplicates we are accumulating, we are setting up collections of them at his grandparents houses, so we don't have to transport them around and if they get lost, we can replace them form the inventory at their homes. The only problem so far, is he always loses the exclusives and accessories (Nexu disappeared for almost a month and if there is one set I did not want to buy again, it is that one and already had to replace Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter because he lost the cockpit cover). I made such a big deal about him losing the cover to the cockpit, he never takes them off the replacement I got him, the snow speeder, tie fighter or naboo starfighter anymore. I guess that is why they say they are for kids 3 and up.......

When I found out that the cockpit covers were removable, I took them off and put them away for when my son got older. That way I couldn't get upset that he lost them. It all worked out great until the dog discovered she like the taste of Hasbro plastic.

My son lost the helmets to several of his figures and it just kills me inside. I have been tempted to rebuy some of them, but just can't do it. The Leia and Lando in their disguises from Jabba's Palace are the most painful to see lost. The only positive I can come up with is that at least one of his Darth Vaders looks a little different due to the lack of helmet. My wife reminds me several times a week that they are just toys...
We had a long talk about helmets with Dak and Luke from the Snow Speeder and when I bought the Obi-wan in clone armor of the internet about keeping helmets on. It was a touching father-to-son moment... "See son, when you lose the helmets it makes daddy cry."

Theres a guy on ebay that sells figures cheap. I bought a couple of sets of clone troopers to make more realistic battles. Sometimes he sells individual figures so you might be able to get those parts.

About three times a year I go through my sons stuff and check to make sure all the parts and figures are still there. Whenever I believe one is missing I get on-line to show my son how irresponsibe he is. My wife thinks I'm nuts. He went through a transformers stage and I kept all the missles in a drawer so I could resell them as complete when he got tired of them. Yeah, I might be nuts.
When I was little, I only had three toys break; Prowl (my first transformer), the first issue of Boba Fett (which I replaced with the cartoon one), and Hoth Luke (who was decapitated). I know there are the only three because I took very good care of my stuff. I can't believe how much kids today don't care about their stuff. My son collects pokemon cards and has several rare ones, all of which he has ruined. He could care less.

Right after I opened and assembled my AT-TE (I bought it recently when it went on sale for $50 at Toys R Us) my son shot one of the missles right into an air conditioning vent... great aim kid.
It sounds like we should start a thread called "Crazy things my kids have done to/with Star Wars toys" could be fun. Or maybe a support group. We could call it DWKTSWTLJ (Dads Whose Kids Treat Star Wars Toys Like Junk)

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I display the Vader, Boush, Obi-Wan w/helmet, and Luke/Han stormies (all with helmets) and Figrin D'an (kind of delicate) on his book case. We also had the "talk" about removing helmets from the pilots and he has been good about that, although I would be pretty ticked if he lost Biggs, Wedge or Porkins helmets. As I write this I'm thinking to myself "Whose collection is this?" At the same time I want him to play with them and if things break, get lost, etc. it is what it is. I lost, broke wore out parts of my Vintage Collection as a kid before I stuffed everything in the Vintage Falcon and sold it at a yard sale for $10 in 1986. But I also remember how Kenner actually had a parts inventory and would send replacments for just about everything. Getting a replacement part from Hasbro is almost impossible. I'm hoping he has an imagination like I did when I was a kid and that he plays with his figures, plays outdoor activities (sports, etc.) instead of sitting in the house all day playing video games.

Yeah, I remember my original 1978 Luke Skywalker heads falling off all the time and my Mom simply sent them back to Kenner and they sent new ones to us for free. Imagine that today.
As for repacks, it does annoy me when the same people show up in the Cinema Scenes but as a completest I still want to buy them. And of course now my son is the same way (at 5 years old). At least you can reuse the characters in different ways especially the droids and clone troopers. Galactic Heroes are nothing compared to the Superhero Squad toys. We must have 25 Spider-mans, 10 Hulks, 10 Wolverines, and 10 Iron Mans. They throw in Spidey waaaay too much, in 2 packs, playsets, and vehicles.

So my son got to open his new Kit Fisto/General Grievous 2-pack yesterday. That new Grievous is one sweet figure. He puts the old one to shame.

picked up Anakins yellow starfighter and the Endor set at Target a couple of days ago.
Both are a let down imo as i think theres only 2 new sculpts between them but like
you guys are saying...what you gonna do if you bought the whole shebang to date :)
Also after the 'missing helmets' discussion I reckon the medals from the ceremony set will be lost within a week...........sigh.
the new Grievous is imo the best figure to date from the whole line.

I see one of 2 things happening to those medals if I were to get that set.
1. My 4-year-old loses them within 1 week.
2. My 1-year-old eats them.
I like the looks of the set... but don't think its gonna happen.
I agree about the new Greivous... the spinning head and lightsabers are sweet. My boy like to reinact the Lair of Greivous CW episode and "dismantle" him. He even uses Admiral Ackbar as Nadhar Vebb (poor Admiral Ackbar never saw that trap coming). The only problem is that I fear one of the lightsaber/hands is going to get lost.
I wish the new mouse droid had functioning wheels, then he/it would be even cooler too, but oh well.

agree 100% on the mouse droid.....have to admit i was a tad let down by the lack of motion. rofl @ the trap :)
I wish i hadnt told my son that leahs 'open hand' was to hold a medal........but im sure he would have figured out they were loose soon enogh. as of 10 mins ago one medal was on the kitchen floor and the other was twisted round chewies neck :)

I've been trying to find a Millennium Falcon for my son with no luck other than e-bay. So I contacted Hasbro and they said they are not in production this year and are discontinued. Where did you see the new one for 2009?

The GH Millenium Falcon will be re-released soon with a Return of the Jedi themed package/figure selection.
Be patient and you won't have to go to EBay to find it.

Has anyone seen Anakins Jedi Starfighter, Obi-Wans EIII starfighter, or Slave 1 (released in August) yet? I haven't found these ones yet.
Yes.. Target had Obi-wan's Jedi starfighter last week, so I bought it. It's pretty nice.. the wings can expand on it and the cockpit is huge. I ended up buying Anakin's starfighter on Amazon a couple of weeks ago for $25.00 with free shipping. I see now that it is only offered through other vender's there. I have to say though, it's not very well made. Every time my 4 year old opens the cockpit door, it comes off. Does anyone else have this problem? It looks like the Clone wars Jedi starfighter is made the same way... anyone having a problem with that one? The bomb drop feature is cool, but otherwise it seems like it's made rather cheap. I haven't seen the slave 1 yet, but I'm on the look out. Incidentally, Target also had the Hoth snowspeeder in case you are interested.

^^^Yes, my 4 year old pops the cockpit top off of the older Obi-wan starfighter all the time. The worst part is that after it comes off a hundred times it hardly stays on at all. Happens with Vader's tie fighter and the rancor's back frequently too. It seems that the X-wings and snow speeder tops are a little better, not great, but better.
The worst culprit for me has been the ramp on the falcon... I can't get it to stay on at all. I've been tempted to glue it, but hate to do it. :(
That's not good news... especially about the Millennium Falcon and Tie fighter... both of which my son wants for Christmas... yes.. already...
I agree that the x-wing fighter door is better, we haven't had any problems with it. The door on the new OB1 jedi fighter also seems to be more secure, so no problems with it either, so far...

I just started having the same problem on my Falcon this weekend and the cockpit canopy on Anakin's JSF is kinda hinky right out of the box.
No luck yet on Obi Wan's 2nd JSF or the Slave I.

Awesome!
I am finally seeing the Snow Speeder Cinema Scene more often now, so hopefully the pacing on the GH line is picking up.

That's good. I know Entertainment Earth has it for pre-order. Hopefully we'll be able to find one in stores before E-Bay'ers grab them and sell them at a ridiculous price! From what I've heard recently, toy company's have decreased production this year due to the recession.

Tempting, but I just got the new Obi Wan GH JSF CS at Target for $19.99, so I think I am going to take my chances on seeing it on the shelf somewhere...
The SW2009 code brings it down to $30.00 something including the shipping.

Normally I would have, but I believe my TRU is done filling Star Wars. They took down the main display at the front and the isle is full, FULL, of Legends.
Probably 8 racks by 4, 10 deep of them. There are barely any clone wars. Those are not going anywhere. They reduced the GH cinema scenes to 1 face spot. Maybe around Christmas it will get better, but I'll pay the extra 3 bucks to get it shipped and have no worries.
Nice find sonofsokol!

Yeah, It was "add to cart". Maybe they realized they jumped the gun.
Haven't checked my e-mail yet, I'll let you know if they sent a change.

I haven't seen that one yet... wouldn't mind taking a look at it since we don't have many figures as of late.
I heard that the new Millennium Falcon is a Cosco exclusive. I think they are $29.00. I noticed several now on e-bay today.

I got my Jedi Starfighter yesterday, but Slave one hasn't appeared yet.
I got mine today... I couldn't open the box all the way because it's a christmas gift.. but I managed to get a pretty good look at it. The hatch doesn't open all the way to flip over, so I could see it possibly coming off much like the Anakin one, but hopefully not as easily. It may prove a little challenging at first for small children (3-4) to get the men in and out until they get the hang of it. Otherwise, the cockpit is a pretty good size. All in all it looks pretty good. I think my son will like it. It has a separate compartment behind the cockpit for Han in the carbonite, and I think the wings have some kind of moving feature but I couldn't really test it without taking it out of the box..
Anyone have the Wampa monster? I bought one the other day, it's new, but the front of it is really yellow and the back is white. I'm thinking that's probably how it's suppose to be.. kinda weird..

I's pretty sure that's not how it's supposed to be. If it was still in the package when you bought it it was probably displayed in direct sunlight, that would cause the white in the front to yellow and not the back. How do the other figures in the package look? Is there a discernible difference between the paint on the front and the back?

You know.. I took a closer look and the back is yellow too, but not the arms (front or back).. Nothing else in the package looks yellow. I guess he's just suppose to have "dirty" fur?
