I'm still living in angry mode. I spent a good portion of my night off yesterday writing letters, forming a time line that my son has lived with me, trying to print labels to sort the paperwork enclosures I am sending with the letters. It's draining on my system.

The good news is, Josh called and told me that his kidney shows no signs of rejection! I knew that little sucker would serve him well!

I don't think I ever actually ate one. I just remember the uproar when they were taken off the market. They had quite a following and a Simpsons episode was made to spoof it. I think the pork flavored sponge was soaked in grease before being coated in barbeque though.

Look! Up in the sky!

It's a bird! (Not)
It's a plane! (Yes! No need to go further)

Coming home from my dentist appointment today I saw a B-17 lumbering in on approach to our airport. Very cool!

Don't know where it's bound because our "warbird" airshow isn't until the middle of next month.

At any rate, it's always a treat to see an air-worthy example of history still in the skies!

That's a pretty random amount. I wonder how they came up with it?

I'd love to do something like that. Unfortunately, my family doesn't have the best of luck with the old flying fortress. One Great uncle was shot down in one over France (he bailed out and got back to GB,) another was the only survivor of a crash when they were still in the testing phase-he was never the same after that. Still, what a thrill it must be (as long as no one is shooting at you.)

Bands I haven't seen in concert that I would really like to see:

Garbage
Nine Inch Nails
Dada

Best concert I've ever been to:

Van Halen: For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge tour (I'll be sure to spell it out all the way since PB got in trouble with the acromnym a few hundred pages back)

I caught a pick that Sammy Hagar took out of Eddie's hands and threw into the crowd. It's one of my favorite things.

Close second: No Doubt/Bush/Gin Blossoms

Concert I'm most ashamed to have attended that I loved in 7th grade:

Jefferson Starship/Night Ranger

Put on a really good show that I wasn't really expecting: Liz Phair

Best Band I ever saw in a bar: Dave Matthews circa 1992

Researching info on some old WWII movies I liked as I kid, I came upon this in Wikipedia regarding the movie 633 Squardon:

Influence

The film's climax shows the squadron's aircraft flying down a deep fjord while being fired at by anti-aircraft guns. George Lucas stated that this sequence inspired the "trench run" sequence in Star Wars.

633 Squadron is well known in the UK for its regular appearances on television, and became almost a part of the Christmas schedule. Although erroneously considered a sequel, the film Mosquito Squadron is similar to 633 Squadron and influenced by it, even using footage from the original.

Also found this tie-in on another film I've seen countless times: The Dam Busters:

Influence

The attack on the "Death Star" in the climax of the film Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope is heavily influenced by the climactic sequence of The Dam Busters. In the later film rebel pilots have to fly through a trench while evading enemy fire and use a single special weapon at a precise distance from the target in order to destroy the entire base with a single explosion; if one run fails another run must be made by a different pilot. Some scenes from the Star Wars climax are very similar to those in The Dam Busters and some of the dialogue is nearly identical in the two films. These scenes are also heavily influenced by the action scenes from the war film 633 Squadron, which depicts a fictional air raid. Star Wars also ends with an Elgarian-style march, like The Dam Busters

At least G.Lu knows how to steal....

Yay, post 1973! My post count is equal to my birth year! I feel like I should blow out some candles or something.

1818, sadly, Andy Jackson fought the battle of New Orleans in 1816. I was going to play the 1812 Overature for post 1812 but they don't allow cannons in doors.
