As for fixed wing aircraft we have: F/A-18 C/D/E/F, EA-6B Prowlers, E-2C Hawkeyes, and C-2A Greyhounds (C-2A's are only on for a little bit when they're bringing supplies. They don't stick around long)

Rotary wing aircraft: SH-60 helos and there variants.

That's more than I've done all night! Until the airplanes come on I don't have much to do.

You could run up and down the deck and pretend you're an airplane. If you swing your arms back and forth you could even be an F-14. Maybe you could even persuade someone to launch you off the catapult. If there was a safe way to do that, I bet it'd be fun.

Pet Peeve: It's Memorial Day. It's for the fallen. Vetran's day is for the living/serving.

So thank/pray/remember the dead. Saying that to the active/alive is the equivalent of asking them to drop dead (so not very respectful).

El Chuxter
05-22-2009, 04:38 PM
Remember them by going to all the tacky Memorial Day sales. Buy a mattress, a used car, a dining set!

Also functioning devices I own:

- one 8-track player
- 2 portable cassette players (no Walkmans... too pricey back then)
- a Polaroid camera (alas, no more film... I guess that might mean non-functional)
- a cassette player with dual tape dubbing
- an Underwood typewriter (all my high school and junior college papers done on it)

college is great. nothing wrong with going to a smaller school. often they offer better financial aid packages.

My brother went to Mary Washington and I went to Virginia Tech. MW was smaller than our high School but Tech is close to 30,000 students. It just depends on what's the best fit for you (or your son.) I wish you both the best of luck on your search. Hopefully he'll find the perfect fit for himself.

The notebook pc I bought has a Blu-ray player with HDMI output, but I've had problems with it actually playing discs. It's HP's media software, not the hardware.

I thought about getting a PS3. My brother loaned me his console around christmas and it not only plays Blu-rays but does a great job upscaling standard def DVDs to HD. Plus I can play games on it (LEGO Star Wars & Indiana Jones).

Yeah, but PS3's have got a huge power comsumption compared to regular blue ray players. Still if you've got the time to play the games you might as well kill 2 birds with one stone.

That sounds like more fun than my upcoming trip to San Jose to learn how to use a cell sorter. I just hope you never have to use what you learn.

Is that Beckman's cell sorter? I think I may have been talking to Beckman's automated life science instructor yesterday with my field engineer yesterday about additional tests thier CE's need.

Indifferent on OJ. Drink water. Better for the kidneys.

Or as I can now say "kidney".

I drink orange juice for the folic acid. If I ever have any eggs ripen I want to make sure they're healthy.

Amen to that. The subject this time is suicide bombers.

I'm sure we're going to get into the psychology of these morons as well as the "nuts and bolts" of learning about the components of their devices. These schools are awesome. Our instructors are from the FBI who have worked in Iraq and Afghanistan. You can imagine what their power points look like.

should be able to keep your interest that way. much better than sitting through a full day seminar on medical billing and coding.

That sounds like the worst possible way to spend precious time on Earth I've ever heard of.

Is it actually locally made or just a store brand they bring in from somewhere? Fresher is probably better. I can't stand the stuff from concentrate. It is from concentrate, but I do believe it's from local farms here in CA. I always get the pulp free kind.

I like the pulp and my wife doesn't. I surprised we've lasted 8 years.

So I guess this means Orange Juice isn't what means the most in a relationship. Craziness, utter craziness.

I hope it's the hat I saw on a promo for squidbillies. It was a baseball cap with a picture of Sarah Palin on it and it said VP ILF. I almost fell off the couch laughing.

No, she drinks that sort of slanted. I want to know how she doesn't spill stuff leaning like that all the time while eating and drinking.

I'm currently suffering through a Rock Band event.

It's a belated birthday party for my son tonight. With Memorial Day, graduations, et al, the throngs couldn't make it until now.

Oh, joy!
