I smoked 9 chicken legs yesterday (they didn't have turkey legs at the grocery store.)

I wonder...

1.) what happened to the other chicken leg (you'd think they would put an even number in the pack since every chicken I've ever seen comes with an even number of legs.

2.) Who got the rest of the chickens?

3.) What do they do with the non-breast, wing, thigh, leg parts? (Actually, as a fan of chicken sausage, I don't think I want to know that one after all)

4.) Why there are no chickens (or poultry of any kind) in any Star Wars movies?

5.) What the bird the domesticated chicken was domesticated from looked like?

6.) Why duck isn't as popular as chicken?

7.) Why I can find Emu meat (very tasty!) but no Ostrich?

8.) How long it would take to smoke an Ostrich leg?

9.) Why the chicken crossed the road?

Darth Jax

4. the novelization contains a reference to ducks. and aren't there swans or other aquatic avians in the scene when the bongo surfaces in theed?

6. duck is much greasier/heavier tasting than chicken

9. to get to the other side obviously

Family with odd number of children

2.) Who got the rest of the chickens? The weasel did.

3.) What do they do with the non-breast, wing, thigh, leg parts? (Actually, as a fan of chicken sausage, I don't think I want to know that one after all) Animal feed usually, or prisons.

4.) Why there are no chickens (or poultry of any kind) in any Star Wars movies? I thought the Mynreshi or Pssadans or mabye even the Mrlissi were evolved from flightless birds, but I'd have to check that again.

5.) What the bird the domesticated chicken was domesticated from looked like? Probably a lot like a quail that couldn't fly.

6.) Why duck isn't as popular as chicken?Depends on your country. In China duck is more popular, chickens just easier to raise.

7.) Why I can find Emu meat (very tasty!) but no Ostrich?Endanged Species Act possibly.

8.) How long it would take to smoke an Ostrich leg? If the general rule is 90-120 minutes per lb in traditional smokers (more or less), how heavy we talking about here?

9.) Why the chicken crossed the road? Solve that, and you know the meaning of life.

Our receiving department gets 1000's of packages a day and does a remarkable job getting the vast majority of them to their proper destination, but occasionally a package gets misdelivered (at least that's what I'm hoping happened.) Today I got the strangest package ever from them. The invoice that they has printed out to accompany the package said it was cell culture bags. I thought this was odd since my order of those arrived last week, but I was hoping they had been double shipped and I'd get some free ones to use. Immediately upon opening the package, I knew it wasn't going to be free cell culture bags. Wrapped inside a garbage bag with several leaky cold packs and some soaking wet paper towels was a 100mL bottle of turkey blood. I've ordered some weird things in my scientific career, but I didn't even know you could buy turkey blood (or that it would come packaged so badly.) Needless to say I sent it back. I just hope whoever had ordered the turkey blood gets it soon (and stays the heck away from me.)

No receptors for the virus on blood cells. That's why it just hangs out in mucosal tissue.

Do you think the cost vs. end product is worth it? It seems very reasonable, which makes me pause as I can't assess the quality of printing and the paper on the website. I'm used to the high-end stuff we use at work for portraits, facility photos, and for court purposes (wish I had a set up like that at home!). I'm looking for a good, archival product. My wife uses shutterfly and I am very impressed with their end products. At first I thought they were kinda spendy, but after we received the first book in the mail I was really impressed and happy to spend the money for the product. Their variety of options is really cool. My wife was really into scrapbooking, but after finding out about shutterfly, I doubt she'll do much more of the home-made scrapbooks. She shows them off to all her friends and everyone just raves about them. It sounds silly, but I would highly recommend and endorse them. If you'd like to see any snapshots of the books let me know. It might be hard to tell the quality from pics, but if you think it'd be useful at all...

TI, I don't know for certain about archival quality, but the quality is at least as good as a well-made mass market book. They're not cheap, but send out discount coupons pretty regularly, and the books are definitely worth the cost (especially if you can get them for 50% off).

Good to know, thanks!

I hadn't heard of Shutterfly or Snapfish before. Most of our photos are kept on CDs or thumb drives. We tend to print just a very few photos, anyway. When we do, it's down to Target to the "do it yer self" Kodak machine.

I have to admit that I do like the idea of the books I've seen. I think it might lend itself to presenting the photos better of my adventure to Branson, MO at the reunion of the WWII vets of the 416th Bomb Group I just attended.

sonofsokol
09-21-2009, 11:14 AM
I have never seen a snapfish book myself, but the friend who introduced my wife to Shutterfly has used both and she thought the shutterfly were better quality and the pictures looked sharper. This may be from a variety of things like user error etc... but I am just telling you what I have heard. It is all just hearsay and innuendo.:lipsrsealed:

I know that we have never paid full-price at shutterfly. They always have some promotion running, so unless you have a deadline, you can just prepare the book and then wait and have it made and shipped when a promotion comes along that suites you.

I never said it was cheese (neither is american "cheese,") but it would be fun to use as oversize jiggly legos.

It's still basically Wal-mart with a little make-up on it (no offense intended Bobafrett), but the idiots who mispronounce it may actually be onto something.
