That was so dumb, it was beautiful. And the Indiana Jones theme added in, too... mmm... sauce for the goose.

I need to wash my eyes. Let me Guess Mabs, was it the 1:55 worth of hard to read credits at the beginning? Or the X-Wings flying backwards at one point, or the two space pilots I assume, or the bed editing, or the Indiana Jones music, or the other non Star Wars content mixed in there. I need to sit down and watch the original ANH to clean my mind of that train Wreck from the Turks!

Also the re-use of several scenes (including the multiple death star explosions), the little shot of BattleStar Galacticas theme, the dreaful bluescreens...

All's I can say is somehow the second part (which looks to be the last 10 minutes, making the "set" mere bookends to what must surely be a wealth of golden entertainment in the "forbidden" centre) is even worse and if you can believe it, less "Star Wars"y despite feturing several pieces of the original ANH as well

Glad you are enjoying it...
:beard: Iso&Baws

Oyes that is a bad piece of... whatever it it made of

I had to stop myself from watching turkish Rambo though. i can only take so much ripe cheese.

I think this is overripe cheese, Jargs.

I'm going to practice my whistling. Because if I ever crash-land on a distant world and automatically assume it's a planet of women, I don't want fat guys in skeleton costumes coming to arrest me because I whistled wrong.

I wonder how many brain cells that cost me.

I love the guys in teddy bear suits though the training sequence is without doubt the weirdest part. Must remember to continually slap a lump of rock so I too can be a hero with superflipflopflyin ninja skillz.

Special mention though to the bad guy's mask. A no expense affair. Obviously corrugated cardboard is a highly prized commodity in whatever universe these dudes inhabit.

My friend made me a copy of this on DVD about 5 or 6 years ago. LOL

Man, just from the few moments I skimmed, that looked really bad. In a precious way almost though. It seemed like they couldn't properly deal with the wider aspect ratio of the SW shots so they just smashed them into a narrower format. That's serious cheese. Those opening credits were unbearably long.

It is "special" I'll give it that, JT.

JP- I was pretty sure you had mentioned it before so I thought maybe I was the only one missed it due to being stuck on dialup- something about "Jish" perhaps IIRC??

Jargo- dammit watch Turkish Rambo, it is TOTALLY hilarious the entire 6 minute runtime (it looks like just the final battle- the "rocket-launcher" made me giggle every time it was employed- there's other hilarious aspects but I won't spoil them as they're too good the way they are)

After watching the subtitled version, it is a MUST see- the amount of "no-sense-making" is somehow totally enhanced by having an "explanation"

For instance, in the first sequence (if you could call it a sequence haha) the "heroes" are actually piloting TIE fighters...
:beard: Iso&Baws
put THAT in your detention level and compact it

I wish you would all stop complaining! This is really grating on my nerves!

Do you know how hard it was to get popular western movies in Turkey in the 70s and 80s due to the political upheaval? These filmmakers risked their lives to make this entertainment for the people who were suffering, to take their minds off the misery of their daily lives for just a few minutes.

You have no right to call this stupid, dumb, or bad! These brave men are heroes; it doesn't matter if this isn't great cinema by western standards, it alleviated the suffering of the Turkish people for a few bright hours in the early 1980s.

And at least they ripped off what we would consider good movies. Give them credit for that. There's no "Turkish Midnight Madness."

I'm tired of all this griping. Show these heroes their due. If you can't, that's why the internet is so big. There are two groups of people online: haters and everyone else. There are plenty of separate sites for haters so the rest of us don't have to deal with you losers voicing your opinions. You should only talk to people you agree with online, totally segregated from people you disagree with, and making fun of them for being wrong. Why don't you jackarses leave and make a "SirSteve's Guide to HATE" so the rest of us can live in peace?

Especially you, Jargo. Damn, am I ever sick of your griping. Frigging English people think that just because they're more eloquent than Americans, what with their gooder educational systems, that they have a right to disagree with us! Shut up! Go back to France you damn Yankee!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

And you, mabs. I've known about this video for years and respected what it represents. I've always thought you were cool, but you're a self-righteous conceited jerk. Go make your mindless "toy porn" about robots dancing like morons, you hater!!!

y'know it's highly likely that man originated in the region of Turkey. then migrated outwards.Doesn't mean Turkey itself but the general geographical area. unless you're a creationist or ralean or scientologist in which case it was all down to magic pixie dust.

Whew... like ripe gorgonzola!

I've spent 3 months living in Turkey and I can tell you my Turkish friends would find this piece of crap to be as horrendous as we do. I do appreciate that you posted it Chuxter; surprised that you'd defend it and get uppity when someone critiques it fairly!

I especially loved the upside-down flying ISD interspersed with the NASA stock footage.

Insulting someone based on their nationality is the sign of someone who can't defend their point of view. Eloquence is the result of an intelligent person communicating well... maybe you should go get a "gooder" education in another country before you retort.

I agree with mabs, the limp rocket launcher in Rambo was the best.

mabudonicus
02-08-2009, 08:27 PM
Glad you liked it, Sir

I showed Turkish Rambo to a few folks and it met with broad approval- between the almost sad "limp" rockets AND the video-gamey supply of them AND the effects they had on the human targets it's a pretty strong piece of "comedy"

I watched almost the entire Turkish Star Wars a few days ago, but the crowd I was watching it with got tired of it at around the 45 minute mark so I still haven't completed the journey

Oddly enough the overall message of the film seems to be about in line with ANH and the OT in general tho it's kinda translated about how the human mind/ingenuity/spirit is the strongest force/most powerful weapon of all- strange in light of most of the film being directly ripped off but oh well
:beard: Iso&Baws
Oyes it still kinda stinks- and that WAS a joke post by Chux :D

Oh, okay... in that case, never mind. :)

There are people who actually subscribe to that line of thinking and post stuff like that for real... and I'm always ready to defend my Brit brethren against the Redneck Agenda. Rule Britannia! Death To Rush Limbaugh!

Sadly, posted sarcasm frequently gets lost in translation...
