I have a question regarding Darth Vader figures/collectables. I'm needing help as I'm currently writing a toy/character biography on him for my fansite

To my understanding there has been quite alot of releases of the Darth Vader character in Figure format. How many approximately have been released spanning the Kenner/Hasbro releases?

Is there one definitive darth vader that's a must have in every collection?

I'd also like to know if there is a place, as such where I can view each figure release of DV, kind of like an action figure archive, i'm sure some of you have heard of Yojoe.com, where you can view by year/series release of cobra commander, I was wondering if there is something similar for Darth Vader and Star Wars fans.

Apologies for asking so many questions, however I would like assistance so that my biography is as accurate and complete as possible.

I'd also like to invite anyone to submit me any good pictures of the Darth Vader figure from their collection (PM me for details). I'll give you full credit on the biography to mention it's from your collection.

Thank you in advance to any assistance you can give, apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place. It's referring to the characters specific figures released as opposed to one true version or manufactured release.

Well, the vintage Kenner years will be easy, since there was only one Darth Vader figure released for the 3 3/4" line. I guess you could count the vintage Anakin Skywalker too, but that's up to you.

There's almost too many to count in the modern line, if you go to Rebelscum.com, you will be able to see a good photo of each Darth Vader figure release in their photo archives.

Thanks for the help ;)
what about you Barada, do you have a preference on Vader on which your favourite version of figure would be?

I've got a database for all my figures, with a link to RS for each one. A quick count up, and I have 34 Vaders (actually more than this, as I have some doubles). 34 different releases, though I wouldn't guarantee each one is different, and I'm sure there are others I've passed on, but here are the links to all I have:

Wow, are we talking Darth Vader 3 3/4 action figures only or are you going ALL Darth Vader collectibles?

Also, I am not sure if this really fits in the vintage forum.

I agree. I'll send this'n to the Other SW Collectibles, where it may get more of what you're seeking, Urban Saboteur.

Well, the recent Legacy Vader (with the 2-piece removable helmet) is probably technically the best Vader; but the more I look at the figure, the more I realize that I prefer the 2005 Evolutions Vader. The headsculpt is better and the helmet doesn't look as strange when it's on his head. But you have to do a hand swap with either the Legacy Vader or the 2007 TAC Vader, or he'll never hold his lightsaber in his right hand.

Hey Guys,
Thank you for the help  and thanks for moving it to the relevant place.
Ok I'd like to say thank you to sebillba for those links, those will help tremendously in my research on this Iconic villain of the last 20 years.

And to answer your question
"Wow, are we talking Darth Vader 3 3/4 action figures only or are you going ALL Darth Vader collectibles?"

I actually want to start with 3 3/4 first as this is pretty much the scale I personally collect, I'd like the toy biography to be as complete as possible though, so I will definately be looking at other scaled figures as well as collectables and merchandise.

The biographies are intended to be fan/info collaborations with the credit obviously going to the submitters of the information be it links, photos and whatnot. My first choice is Darth Vader, following on from this will be Optimus Prime and then Cobra Commander. (from different toy lines).

Again thank you to everyone so far that's helped. I'm currently looking for someone else to partake in a short 5 question interview as well regarding Darth Vader. so if someone wants to do this and you really like the character, please PM me with your email address.
Thanks and kindest Regards

And interestingly, aren't most Vader figures taller than the 3 3/4" size? So he's his own 4" line!
