Don't people always discuss the weather?

Today is Mon, March 2, 2009.

In San Diego it is 78 degrees and sunny - hot actually - such that people are wearing their bathing suits to the grocery store.

Sometimes there seems to be some overcast moving by - must be from the ocean - but it comes and passes quickly. Then it's all blue skies.

I turned my air conditioning on at home and in my vehicle.

No, the weather is forced on us by the national media that if it snows in NYC the rest of the country can't get any other information.

No where near that, but definitely transitioning to spring here. Highs will be in the upper 30s, but lows in the upper 20s.

I'm about 250 miles north of Tycho and it's cloudy and looks like it's threatening to rain. Pleasant at about 65F, though.

It was warm and sunny yesterday and about 79F. I think Tycho stole our weather!

Northeast Ohio is partly cloudy with a lot of sun but it's COLD today. Right now we're about 20 degrees with a lot of wind cuts right through you. Too bad, it looks nice out the window but that impression changes the second you open the door. Brrr.

The weather hasn't changed much in San Diego.

It went from being sunny and warm, to being a little overcast in the mornings before it reverted to being sunny and warm.

I predict that tomorrow it will be sunny and warm. To arrive at that conclusion took a lot of hard work!

I have not had the energy to go down to the harbor and see the whale. :( My friend came over and she treated me to lunch at a local cafe and we just stayed and visited at my place. I had a treatment at the hospital that kept me there until nearly 3am on Saturday morning and it's messed up my sleep so now I'm over-tired (else I'd feel fine - all labwork done thus far on my kidney transplant shows me doing excellent - but sleep helps!)

Today would be nice to go watch the whale. It's sunny, blue skies, and back to the low 70's.

TeeEye7
03-16-2009, 06:00 PM
Whale watching season pretty much ends by mid-April as they leave the area for Alaskan waters for the summer. Next go-round will be in December when they head to Baja for the winter and to give birth and do the wild nasty.

I went on a whale watching cruise as a kid (out of Oceanside) and it was an awesome experience! Highly recommended adventure!

Tycho
03-16-2009, 06:24 PM
Yeah, I too enjoyed whale watching cruises, but you can't beat a 10 minute drive (at max) including parking (probably - it might be awkwardly busy down there on the boardwalk, what with the whale now) - and getting to see a whale right away, for free, and garaunteed (almost - some have said you must be patient for an hour or so).

Our little SoCal storm yesterday left a nice little dusting of snow on the mountains east of me (locally known as the Greenhorn Mountains, but actually the Southern Sierra Mountains). Although it will probably melt in short order, it's a pretty sight to behold! Hard to believe it was in the mid 80's last week! We've been 30 degrees cooler for the past couple of days.

I could start a new thread about one of my dreams for this, but it sort of goes with this subject.

I had a dream that nighttime refused to come.

It was 10pm and the sun had not set yet! People were thinking it was very strange, but they were liking it nevertheless.

So the sun was in like the 4:30 - 5 or 6 pm range in the sky over the ocean, but it was not getting any lower on the horizon. At first, the 9pm sunset was a little different, but no one thought to much about it. By 10pm and 10:30 when the sun still had not gone down, people were questioning it and what had happened to the earth.

If the earth had stopped spinning and China and Russia were facing away from the sun, destined for eternal darkness, I wonder if it would precipitate a war for sunlight?

That's kind of a good story idea.

Wednesday, I took my car out on the freeway for the first time after getting the new transmission. Everything felt really weird, like something wasn't set up right in the suspension. I was checking the lines in the roadway to see if they were grabbing the car, and that wasn't a major contributor. Then I rolled down my window and got blasted by high winds, turned out I had driven out with the windows up and not noticed that it was SUPER windy, the car is small and light, was being buffeted quite a bit. It was about 63, partly cloudy, and super windy. Yesterday was more of the same.

Today it's clear and 73, looks beautiful.

JT, add wings to your car the next time you have it in the shop.

FLY over all the traffic!Without a vertical stabilizer, it'd fly out of control and almost immediately roll or pitch straight into the other cars. This isn't lifting wind, it's buffeting sideways wind. And that'd end your trip real quick, wouldn't it? ;) (Almost didn't make that SW ref)

First, the longest thunder roll I think I've ever heard awakened me just before 3 am, and aside from a 15-minute fall-asleep just before my alarm time, I've been awake ever since. There were several other lightnings and thunders throughout the day, hail, rain, winds, humidity, sun breaking through, dark clouds. It was just weird. :crazed:

Students and teachers (and probably parents and family, too) are hoping the heavy drizzle goes away for graduation tonight; drizzle and light rain may as well be a tornado or tsunami for SoCal-ers, as they panic, can't act normally, and just basically fry their brain cells (specifically in drivers).

Luke didn't kiss Leia in the cut scene, nor did he sell his speeder in that scene. What kind of geeks are you?!!! :whip:

It was mid 70s with a chance of stray clouds today. Supposed to be mid 80s by the weekend.

JediPartner: I saw a helicopter deliver an air conditioning unit to Sears across the street. It was cool. (pun intended - geeze I'm so clever aren't I?)

Right now the sun is on the other side of the earth from California, so you can't see it and everything is dark outside. We call this night time. Another thing that happens is that info-mercials start to come on TV. Does anyone need a Sham-Wow! ?

Man did we have a terrific storm last night. There was water coming into the house under the windows on the north side. What an oogy mess it made. :(

It's gonna be hot today, and my wife and I are driving downstate about 2 hours + to attend the Relay for Life cancer walk, which has folks walking an outdoor track. Should be fun! Please make a donation!

Another scorcher today. I'd like to see some cooler weather move in again so I can do stuff outside. I noticed at lunch that the ACCORD nameplate was gone from the trunk of my car - I'm not sure if it was stolen or if it just fell off. With this heat, I wouldn't be surprised.

Still warm today but not as humid, but it makes a world of difference. Heading back out soon to do more things outside.

Currently enjoying an oven-like 106F. The temp usually peaks around 5-6PM, so we'll see if it goes any higher.

We're getting some clouds moving in this morning, which might lower the expected 100 degree day today, but it's making it humid-er.

CARPY!! We're going through a storm with 10-15 foot swells. Don't believe the hype. A carrier pitches and rolls a lot. Especially since I work very near the front of the ship on the hangar level.

Balmy with highs in the mid to upper 70s. Bit breezy, but it's a beautiful day and comfortable to be outside. Hopefully this weather pattern sticks around through the weekend.

Rather cool considering we were very hot in the mid 90's last week, now baarely cracking the 70's, plus it's cloudy overhead, making it feel even cooler.

We might get some thunderstorms today or tonight, which is how several CA wildfires have started in the past. Here's to hoping not. :fingerscrossed: Still supposed to be in the low to mid 90s, though.

Most of the hot air is originating from Sacramento.

Since it seems that the forecasted possible storms may stay away, I plan to get my car washed today. Still low '90s for today, with some occasional clouds.

Might crack 80 after yesterday not even making it to 70. There is some big high pressure system sitting on the Great Lakes covering everything with clouds from Hudson Bay to Tennessee to here in Iowa all the way to the Atlantic. I just want the winds to die down. 20+mph sustained winds is no fun while biking.

Since it seems that the forecasted possible storms may stay away, I plan to get my car washed today. And so I did, but I chose the wrong lane, as four other cars (three of which came in after me) got done before mine. :upset: The car in front of me had a mound (literally) of trash taken out BEFORE they started vacuuming it (cigarette packs, plastic bottles, balled-up paper, etc.). Hope they charged them extra for that.

Down under and on the far side of the continent. I know Australian's (me Mums side) that have never been there.

Always wanted to go there. It's about as far away from everything you can get and still be in the "Colonies"

Abuquerque weather: rained most of the day, stopped raining but still overcast which is good for this dry place. Almost feels like San Diego..almost.

Clouds are bringing back more of the humidity, which is bad when it's close to 100. Not much of a breeze, either. Yuck. But maybe that'll keep away any fires from starting up.
