View Full Version : March Hauls

Titanium Series Republic Attack Shuttle - undersized, weak sculpting, very lightweight, wings don't pose in landed position right.

TS Ep 3 Jedi Starfighter w/ Hyperdrive Ring - awesome! Tons of metal in this set, the ship and the engines on the ring make it very heavy. Ship is decent, shrunk down version of the previous but with no landing gear or opening wings. Ring is good, if a tiny bit rubbery. I haven't tried this on the stand yet, I hope it works but I get the feeling it won't.

TS Twilight - nice. a little too blue, the inner part of the wing is hollow, and the top gun doesn't hinge despite being a separate piece, but sculpt is good and it has whooshability.

Marvel 3.75" Spider-Man - thanks to a trade with VexOrdo. Figure's ok, head is a little small, light blue paint is a question mark, articulation at hips could be a little better, and I wish the mid-torso was a more useful type of joint. But sculpting is good overall, paint is good besides the weird light blue aspects, good poseability. Web thing is kinda odd choice, but wha'eva.

Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder - a tepid send-off to the series, this direct to video movie is another case of fractured, episodic storytelling watering down the message, the main drive, and the jokes. Still, not as bad as Beast with a Billion Backs.

According to the USPS, I got a Wiolosa, Jawa/WED, and Luke Stormie arrived at my place at 5PM, but since I was there and the mail was delievered at 3:40 PM, I'm sure it arrived at the post office and today will be delivered, I hope.

Benchmade does ROCK.

Benchmade, Gerber, and Leatherman. All Oregon made. And at one time or another have all been a customer of mine.

I own something from all of them and they are ALL wonderful manufacturers. I've even been able to tour the Leatherman factory as vendor.

From Russia With Love Blu-Ray - looks great, 100x better than the VHS copy I own. Haven't checked out the extras yet, I started to listen to the audio commentary but it's a bunch of edited mess.

Sideshow 12" Stormtrooper exclusive - very nice overall, helmet has a few small issues and exclusive gun is a snore, but generally high marks.

Iron Man Iron Monger (opening cockpit) x1 - Needed a second one for an opener, oddly this was in the exact same spot as the previous Monger, and was the only one added to the clearance peg. What is truly shocking through is that it's completely MOC, so I opened the first one. Sadly however, even at $7 it's not a very worthwhile figure. I had to use yellow tak stuff to keep the cockpit closed.

Hot Wheels 1:64 '66 Batmobile (2009 Version) x1 - I like the spindly rims better than the "New Model" release, but the bronze coloring of them is ugly and they need to color the axle pins in red.

Tablet of grid-style paper x1 - Time to finalize some shelf designs.

Marvel Universe Iron Man - decent figure. Kinda tall compared to what I was expecting. Good sculpt, a little cartoony, a lot realistic. Great paint. Good articulation. Accessory is ok, I wish the hand pointed more in that direction though.

MU Stealth Iron Man - looks great, I'm not de-packaging it though as of yet.

SW TLC Wave 5 - between HTS and a very kind stashing, I got 'em all. Gotta catch 'em all! I say "wave 5" because even though I already owned Obi-Wan, I bought another one when I picked up that stashed figure.
- Pons Limbic is pretty good despite a somewhat inaccurate face.
- Trinto & Dice make for a good set despite Dice having a soft sculpt and Trinto having wonky elbows.
- Wisolea is accurately weird, could use a little sharper sculpt and paint but delivers what it's supposed to.
- Jawa w/ WED droid is a good set. Jawa's gold eyes and brown cloak work better than original figure this is a repaint of, but new ion gun weapon is difficult to work with. WED droid's base is a little simple and wrong colors, the whole thing is 25% too big, but it's got a good sculpt and is fun with all the movable tools.
- Obi-Wan still rules.
- Han Stormtrooper has the ANH helmet which looks a little weird despite being accurate, the "new" holster doesn't work any better and seems the same anyway. An ok at best figure finally realized in single card form.
- Luke Stormtrooper has the ROTJ helmet which isn't as accurate but looks better. VOTC head has the wrong hair but face kinda works for the scene. Gun has silvery paint. Belt is new and thermal detonator stays on better, but Luke wasn't wearing it in the movie so it's totally inaccurate. Figure is way too tall despite being a minuscule bit shorter than Han.
- Spacetrooper has problems with the head sitting too high, the ANH helmet looks a bit weird on its own and sitting too high it looks downright weird, tiny. Gun is an odd variant, but well done for what it is. Backpack and hose clip in well, but a little simpler than expected. Not quite the "regular trooper" I wanted thanks to the head problems.
- R5-A2 doesn't work right due to a total lack of weathering that it was supposed to have as it did in the movie. Instead, bright white and orange make for a cheap, plasticky-looking R5 droid, and the new dome sculpt doesn't quite deliver for me.
- R2-L3 is quite nifty, the new R2 dome sculpt is very sharp, and there's tons of painted details on this guy.

XMO: Wolverine Comic Series Gambit - a little disappointing. No articulated ankles or wrists which this figure could really use. Lower legs are very gummy, as is staff. Head and torso articulation could use more range.
