Sony Cassette Adapter - works better in my car's tape deck than the Belkin, which had very narrow strips that only played on the right side.

Dynex 3' 1/8th to 1/8th cable - for the rental car's stereo, so I could play my MP3 player on the drive down to visit Tycho.

LaCrosse BC-900 Battery Recharger - very nice setup, I like the info for each cell site, the ability to charge at different speeds, and the free AA and AAA batteries.

Samsung WEP410 bluetooth headset - mine broke in my pocket, likely from being dropped the day before, so I got a replacement.

Automatic Transmission for '93 Mazda MX-6 - my car's transmission is totally dying fast due to the filter not getting replaced in 20k miles and choking off. This one is coming from New Jersey, and with shipping and install is still cheaper than a rebuild.

Logitech Trackman Wheel mouse - got it today using WM site-to-store. Placed my order two days ago and was surprised to get the pick-up notice so soon.

I've been using thumb-controlled trackball mice for years and needed a new one for my notebook, as using the touchpad is a bit awkward for dragging and stuff.

I actually bought some Star Wars figures today!

Spacetrooper
Old Ben
Jawa
Han in Stormie Disguise
Luke in Stormie Disguise
Ki-Adi-Mundi/Sharad Hett

I waffled on Ben, but figured he was enough of an improvement, and came with the droid leg. Sadly, the singles came from WM, not from Target, where the SW stuff is on sale and where I got the comic pack. I considered Leia/Xizor and Clonetrooper Bob/Quinlan, and actually put Thrawn/Karrde and Wedge/Borsk in my cart, but decided against them. I can't justify $10 on a wrong-color Talon, no matter how much I want one, and the Wedge sucked enough to offset the coolness of a Bothan figure.

Nobody spelled out my hidden April 1st message? :p I was shocked all those letters actually were in there. Should have just rickroll'd you guys like everybody else these days.

Asus Eee PC 8G netbook - my mom got this last year and it didn't suit her at all. I figured it'd work for me, but it doesn't agree with my router at all (even a simple "read the mac address" didn't work, for NO reason at all). So, I put it on ebay, someone will dig it. Hoping to get at least $150, put it towards an HP netbook.

Dr. Wacko's Silly Sludge - $2.50 at the supermarket. It's a toxic waste can and inside is black slime, so much fun! If this had been released 20 years ago, people would have been up in arms, but today it's all in good fun. Great slime texture too, very liquidy but doesn't get all watery like the old days.

3-way CFL "bulb" - Friggin' cheap 3-way lamp from WM doesn't take standard CFLs too well, and the incandescent bulb blew out, so I figured I'd give the new CFL tech a chance. Larger than other CFLs so it sticks up out of the lamp. Unlike every single other CFL that I've used in the past few years, this one isn't an instant-on style, it takes about 2 seconds to come on, and it flashes then goes into low-light mode, requiring several more minutes to make it to standard light levels. Once there though, it lives up to the promise. Light isn't the greatest color, but better than my very first CFL. The bulb sticking up higher than the shade sucks though, whenever I walk through the room it's an eyesore.

Transformers Animated Shockwave & Bumblebee - Shockwave is a G1 purple repaint of the previous animated figure, while BB is a straight reissue of the Activators figure. BB is a good addition here, great scale going on, but kinda so-so as a stand-alone toy, too simplistic of a transformation and arms are a let-down. Shockwave is very cool spy character, as the Autobot "Longarm" he has a "not much of a mode" crane alt mode and an ok bot mode (though the lack of a moving head is a drawback). Transformation into his true Decepticon mode is very cool though, the tank is only a little less cheaty of an alt mode but gets byon the basics, while the bot mode is very cool, a lenthened version of the other guy but with different hands, face, legs, even the torso has a change. This bot is very lanky, yet looks like he'd be tough. A decent set.

Titanium Series IG-2000 - small, lightweight, paint is a tad lacking, the "arms" don't move at all, and they left the copyright text on the top side! In other words, a letdown. Still, cool to have a toy of this at all, but this could have been so much better.

Transformers Animated Sunstorm & Ratchet - $5 on sale at Target, thanks Figgy B! The set isn't anywhere near as good as Shockwave & BB though, this one has ugly colors on Sunstorm, and that mold is kinda finicky with a lot of bulk and parts that come off too easily and an automorph that doesn't quite work. The end result is an ok bot though, but the colors are less his friends here, the face looks like a clown. The forearm pop-out panel gimmick is super keen though. Ratchet is so-so, small and has big hinges on the outside of the alt mode, but a decent bot mode if a little kibbly.

The Day the Earth Stood Still (Blu-Ray) -- Haven't seen the new version with Keanu Reeves yet, hope it was worth a purcase. I'm a big fan of the original, but have heard a few people say the new one wasn't as good. Either way, it was worth picking up... though now I have two copies of the original version, since the new release includes a Barebones copy of the original on Blu-Ray. Maybe I'll trade it off or something. Plus I picked it up at Best Buy, so got a free 5" metal Gort figure with it. Regular MSRP of $20.00. :)

LEGO Indiana Jones German Flying Wing (Easter present)

Not a bad set, but I think I'd be disappointed with it if I intended to really play with it. The heavy saturation of specialty pieces really throws off the potential play value, especially the one-piece wing structure. The best part of LEGO planes is being able to do damage to the wings when you "crash" them, but this would be impossible, and incredibly boring. Due to the overdose of specialty pieces, it actually reminds me more of a Mega Blocks creation than LEGO. Fortunately, I merely wanted it to have a large replication of the Flying Wing, and settled on this since Hasbro didn't - and probably never will - make theirs.

Microsoft 500 wired P/S2 keyboard - $12 at Fry's. Decent, a much smaller unit, nice travel on the keys, spill-resistant, has media controls which are nice. Only thing I'm not quite used to yet is the alternate layout on the "home/end/insert/delete/page up/page down" keys. USB would have made it perfect, but my desktop machine has a serial keyboard port so it's fine.

Asus Eee PC 901 (white) - pretty nifty. The same keen small 8" size as the 8G I sold, but with a better screen, better processor, better ram, better storage (sorta), multitouch smartpad, tons more features, and a muuuuuch better battery. The 4gb flash SSD main drive is big enough for XP and the various progs, but updates take up tons of room, and there are other issues like that. However, with a little advice and management, it's ok. Keyboard is still dinky but for surfing it's fine. The 8gb second SSD is a better deal, and the SDHC port sits flush so I have an 8gb card in there right now. Literally half the size of my other laptop, a third the weight, and yet I can surf on wifi for up to 6 hours, or with wifi off I can use it for up to 8 hours.

Anybody know of anyplace public that uses Wifi N? This new machine has it, but I don't have N nor do I have enough speed to make it worth my while, it's a G router on a 2.5mbps line.

Found a nice pair of work boots on clearance at WM Saturday: Herman Survivors, WM's top brand. I really needed a new pair to work in the yard and woods. Yard work practically destroys athletic shoes, and the lifespan of the old pairs I reserve for outdoor work are considerably shortened.

For my nephew (4 years old as of Saturday):

- Galactic Heroes Snowspeeder Cinema Scene (he LOVED it!)

- Mace Windu + Phase 1 Clone with 187th Attack Battalion markings

- Bolt on DVD

- Thomas and the Magic Railroad DVD

- Disney's Cars coloring book

For my brother in law (wife's brother) heading deploying to Iraq before his birthday (we'll see him NEXT Saturday):

- Benchmade Infidel 3300BK (double edged with non reflective black coating). Haven't given it to him yet, but he will love it.

Bought yet another iced tea maker yesterday for $15 at WM. This one is a Mr. Coffee 3-quart unit (http://www.mrcoffeestore.com/detail/COF+TM70). I still don't care for the design, but the pitcher is made out of a more durable plastic and seems less likely to crack as my other one did.
