View Full Version : My Eopie check already cleared

2 weeks ago, I bought a Clone Wars Anakin Space Suit that had the Eopie promotional certificate. I hadn't expected this, as I thought the certs were only in marked packages and this wasn't marked as such. Last week, I sent in the 5 UPCs and the check. As this is rather early in the promotion, I didn't expect much movement on this matter, however I just checked my bank account and sure enough, the check has already cleared. That means in 6 to 8 weeks, I'll be getting my Eopie and evo Qui-Gon (now I'm really glad I didn't get that Evo set just for the 1 figure! ).

Anybody else sent theirs in yet? If so, what's the status of your order?

The last time they ran one of these mail in promotions, they cashed my check months before I ever saw the figure.

I sent mine in a couple weeks ago and my check has been cashed as well, but I'm not holding my breath for the Eopie to show up.

In theory, they're supposed to hold the checks until they've cleared the first stage of processing the order. I guess it would make sense to ensure the check clears first and then start processing though, for those checks which don't clear.

Interesting. I better start organizing my newest figure acquisitions to get this. I ultimately want 5 Eopiees: 2 at the podrace, 2 in a Mos Espa diorama, 1 with Obi-Wan bringing baby Luke to Young Beru and Young Owen.

Damn! I need to send that off.

Guess I can open my Eopie Episode 1 box. It's worthless now.
Bought it back in the day before I was an opener-loose collector that I am now.

(To open it afraid I was yes. Let go of things afraid I am to loose. Unlearn what I have learned I must)

I still haven't bought the Lar's Homestead for the last scene of ROTS for that matter yet. Have everything else so far.

Here's a question, I've got a couple of UPCs from figures that were in the blue and white TLC packaging, will those work for the Eopie? As far as I can tell they look more or less the same as the ones from the new packaging but I would really hate to get my Eopie request denied on a technicality.

It's based on the assortment numbers, and I'm pretty sure they're the same from the blue cards to the red ones.

That set has a unique value in its box now, the Qui-Gon figure is special to it, and the complete original set has merit. I'd definitely hang onto that MISB.

Aww geez, you don't even need the cert from the package, you can print it out on their website! http://www.hasbro.com/starwars/en_US/discover/news/article.cfm?newsid=515D869F-D56F-E112-47E2E21247650B33
The link on that page is now white on white and unreadable, it says Click "blank" and leads to: http://www.hasbro.com/common/images/news/starwars//SW_RedemptionCard.pdf

I used both. Heck, I bought one of those blue & white cards AFTER some of my red & white ones. It just has to be a basic figure from the TLC line, Saga Legends, or the Clone Wars line, either packaging styles.

Hmm, I have resisted all this time, even composed the original question you asked back in an early Q&A about the Eopie that you subimtted hoping that I could get one so I wouldn't have to open it. Now that it is coming to pass, I guess I could resist a little longer. I think you're right, but I just needed to hear it from someone else. Must...fight...urge.

It helps that I had to take down my 6 shelves of loose displays to make room for the relatives, but soon I hope they will rise again from the 45 gallon containers.

No. They're also showing up with the Cad Bane wave of Clone Wars figures, none of which have the Darth Maul sticker.

Since the stickers aren't even out yet, I have to assume they've accounted for people waiting for the Legacy figures. Have they ever run out of mail-away figures? I'm not sure, but I doubt it.

They ran out of the unmasked Storm Shadow about five years ago, a couple of months before the end of the offer. They also ran out of Doc and had to produce more since there were so many requests.

Hopefully, they'd make more of a Star Wars mail-away, especially with Clone Wars going on, than GIJoe, but you never know....

I found a PDF of the certificate online back in July when it first leaked and the link on the Hasbro site was buggered. I had tons of UPCs since both my kid and I like to open our toys so I took a chance and sent two sets of UPCs off. Both checks cleared on 8/12. I'd love for them to show up in the next week or two.

If you are sending off for more than one of these sets, do you have to mail each one seperately? It doesn't really say on the form.

Also, what figures can you use for this? I have a small pile of UPCs from various figures, none of which match up with the assortment numbers they have. For example, I just bought Cad Bane, the number next to his name is 91268. Now it says on the certificate: The Clone Wars (87638 Asst.) What gives?

The Asst. Number is right up there beneath the "AGES 4+" thing - you can see the Droid Factory (http://www.rebelscum.com/TLC/Basic/30luke/NEW-191.jpg) is 87535, Saga Legends (http://www.rebelscum.com/TLC/Basic/SL/LC-509.jpg) is 87995, and Clone Wars (http://www.rebelscum.com/TCW/Basic/21clonespace/NEW-253.jpg) is, indeed, 87638. As we've said throughout the thread, you can use any of the basic figures on either the red-and-white cards or the blue-and-white cards.

I wasn't going to order this, as I wasn't intending to buy any figures, but a 6-fig explosion today made that decision easy. As of tomorrow, I quote Red Leader, "It's away!"

Came home today to find two eopies waiting for me. Went to the daughter's soccer game and finally got home to open one. Boxes are totally mushed, but the one I've opened so far is in good shape. The legs are bent in a little, but not really noticeable. I can't say I would have paid a premium price for this, but free w/ six UPCs and $6 shipping means I'll be ordering a couple more.

I'm organizing my collection beginning with TPM toys and I could add the Eopies to the Tatooine scenes (while I'm organizing them) if they get here in the next few days.

Are they packaged in the original Episode One red boxes they were released in overseas back in 1999?

I know how you feel, but ONE on eBay was like $65 and I originally wanted 4 before ROTS came out.

At American retail for the beast assortment, $60 should have gotten me 4 of them, not one. So I didn't buy any from overseas.

Now I needed 5 since Obi-Wan used one at the end of ROTS to deliver Luke to Beru.

Yeah, it does stink. The funny thing is, I've been dancing around this since the very first figure in the line, I never received the Froot Loops Han Stormtrooper to my grandma's house, only the one to my mom's house. 14 years later, I fell for it again. :p

I wrote them finally.

I think I'm going to send in 2 more certificates and whatnot to ensure I get at least 1 of these things, but I'm going to wait until they respond to my email first.

I never got the Froot Loops Han that I sent out for in 1995 either. :upset: I've never bothered with any Star Wars mail-away since. They're usually just as easy, and sometimes cheaper, to get ahold of from the aftermarket.

I've usually gotten them in the time they gave, and I don't think there's been but 1 or 2 that I haven't gotten.

I contacted Hasbro via their website "email" (actually a support ticket system) and today got the following reply after the general stuff:

We will request that the figure be shipped again. It will ship as quickly as possible. How cool of them! I'm going to send in a couple more coupons just in case, plus extra Qui-Gons can't be all bad, but I dig this response, very thoughtful.

Thanks for the offer Morph. :)

Your e-mail got a better response than my phone call, JT.

Like I said, they said, "wait a month."

JediTricks
12-24-2009, 05:24 PM
WAIT A MONTH?!? That is some patented B.S.! I would suggest noting when you sent your check in, when it was cashed, and when people similar to you received their sets, then calling back with that information and explaining why you suspect yours is lost. This presuming you are in the same boat as I, but you may actually have sent your stuff in way later and then it would be reasonable to wait a little longer. This is the message I sent them via their support ticket "email" (it's fully online actually, no email):

Hello, I ordered the mail-order Eopie & Qui-Gon set in early August. My check covering shipping and handling cleared in late August. However, while many of my friends who ordered these received theirs starting in October with their checks clearing well after me, it is late December and my set has still not arrived. Is there anything I can do to find out what has happened to my order before I send in another one?And from that, they were able to send me out another one.

I got a second response today though explaining what happened. It appears they were able to track all of my info from my existing Hasbro Customer Service account and recognized that my handwriting was too difficult to process at the time, someone had misread the "O" in my last name as an "A" and completely missed a whole digit in my street address which refused to correspond it to the zip code, kicking it onto a list of problem forms. With my online info, they were able to fully compare that against their list of illegible forms and send out my Eopie. This doesn't really surprise me, I've always had terrible handwriting, my mom is a righty and my dad is a lefty so I think I got the worst of both worlds. I guess I'm lucky I contacted them online so they already had the info and could ship it out in a single step.

morpheus282
12-25-2009, 03:36 PM
Nifty trick of the day. Donate to the DAV, it helps disabled veterans and they send you pre-printed address labels every few months. You then take one of these labels and affix it to the order form anywhere there's room. That way even if they can't read your writing, they can read the address label.

I suppose you could just buy the address labels, but where's the good karma in that?

JediTricks
12-25-2009, 04:23 PM
I already have address labels though, but Hasbro requires filling out their specific form with its specific info.

morpheus282
12-25-2009, 05:08 PM
Right, what I'm saying is you fill out the form and put the label on the back, side, where ever it'll fit. My handwriting is horrible, but the label ensures that I'll get my stuff.

JediTricks
12-26-2009, 07:11 PM

I know, what was I thinking?

Anyway, they sent my Eopie out on the 25th (I don't know how that's possible) with a hand-written address label and $2.75 in stamps and it arrived 3 days later. The funny thing is, the address label's writing is nearly as incomprehensible as my form was! "Lus Aryeles"? And at least I had the excuse of having a TEENY TINY FORM ON WHICH TO WRITE!!! :p

The set is really nifty. The Eopie sculpt is decent for its time, I would have been really cheesed off to pay even $18 for the original though, the Eopie is a little small and not well articulated. Qui-Gon is very good, likeness is fair, articulation is tops, and with his poncho off, he looks exceptional when posing. Even just sitting the figure on the Eopie has some unusually expressive posing possibilities, provided the poncho isn't covering it up (the poncho is adequate, but hard to get on and off the figure). The only real drawback for me is the '99 lightsaber accessory with its plain blade and oversized hilt.

So, apart from the poncho, is Qui-Gon any different to the evo figure? I now have enough UPCs for 5 of these, but unfortunately the offer's not yet available in the UK. I haven't been too bothered as I already have the original set - never actually saw it at retail though, I paid a fair bit on ebay a couple of years ago (from Germany, I think, or maybe France). But I wouldn't mind getting the updated version sometime.

I didn't get the Evoultions set, hoping something like this would come along, and it did. Looking at the pics, the white frosting in the hair and facial hair isn't as overblown as the Evo, and the mustache is now accurately not painted connected to the beard. Oh, and the boots have a subtle sandy paint spray to them.

Did you receive all that you ordered already?

If so, I'd mail-away for the new ones exactly as you did previously.

If not, I'd try the opposite proceedure.

BTW - I sent away for 4 of my 5 at the same time, and 1 later.

It could be that they marked my 4 as shipped when they marked off the first one I got.

Then my 2nd one came from my later order of just that one.

They have the Nahdar Vebb form with the latest wave of CW figures:Clone Trooper Jek, Commander Bly, Aayla Secura, and Hondo Ohnaka as well as the repacks with that wave. They have a sticker on the package.

I got Aayla and Hondo at Toys R Us last week, the clones were already gone. I haven't seen them at Walmart or Target yet.

Here (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HS87638L) is what is in the wave.

sonofsokol
01-31-2010, 02:24 PM
Yeah, those are some of the repacks in the new wave. The list from Entertainment Earth is below (I bolded the new figures)

1x Anakin Skywalker
1x Count Dooku
1x Obi-Wan Kenobi
1x Captain Rex
1x Yoda (cloth robe)
1x Matchstick (Clone Trooper Y-Wing Pilot)
1x Commander Bly
1x Hondo Ohnaka with Pilf Mukmuk
1x Ayla Secura with Flight Gear
1x Kit Fisto
1x Cad Bane
1x Clone Trooper Jek

Only three new figures in this wave. Clone Trooper Jek was in the Walmart Ambush 2-Pack with the Yoda, who is also in this wave. It seems really lame to have only 3 figures out of the 12 in the wave that are new.

There is also a thread for the Nahdar Vebb figure over in the Clone Wars Section: http://forums.sirstevesguide.com/showthread.php?t=41951

This is as annoying as responding to text messaging!

I bothered downloading 10 copies (front and back of 5 checks) to Hasbro, then had to re-do it because my e-mail didn't go through on their website forms for whatever reason.

I ordered 5 in separate envelopes for each order.

I bet they mark my name off a list as they sent me each one - save for the fact that I sent one envelope (of 5 different envelopes) on a different day (about a week later).

So they don't have it recorded that I was due 5 in total.

I got my 3rd the other week, and then have been waiting for the 4th and 5th.

So I sent them another e-mail anyway because I think the offer expires in March.

I want what I paid for. Wouldn't you?

Is anyone else still waiting out there? My checks were cashed in October of last year!

Anyway, I only want one Nadar Vebb but I'm not mailing away for anything else until I get all my Eopies.

Hopefully I won't have to do this again after I get the 4th, so as to get the 5th. But with my luck with this offer, I probably will.

2 Eopies for leaving Mos Espa with the Royal Starship repair parts (after the podrace).

2 Eopies for the pod race hanger when Qui-Gon bets Watto and Anakin's family arrives.

1 Eopie for Obi-Wan when he brings Luke to Aunt Beru.

= 5 and I really need to have them to complete these scenes!

Grrrrrrr! (but I'm so glad they made this offer available nevertheless!)

What do you mean "your ticket is still open?"

I just sent them a completely new e-mail. You may be referring to your old case from a previous letter.

I think that since I ordered 4 at once, any time they ship 1 item to me, they close my case.

They needed to ship 4 at one time though.

Fortunately, I'm only going to order 1 Mon Cal Jedi so I don't have to worry about this next offer.

I don't know if I'll order vintage Boba Fett at all. Probably not.

Dear Star Wars Customer:

Patience! A Jedi must have patience! You have been waiting years for a 3 3/4" Jabba's Sailbarge and since 1998 for a decent lightsaber firing R2D2. You waited 15 years since ROTJ for us to give you a Darth Vader with Removeable Helmet.

So can't you wait a few more weeks for your Eopie with Qui-Gon Jinn?

We'll do you a favor. We'll start a line outside the Hollywood Mann Chinese Theater and you and everyone else who's check we cashed can wait there. Wear your costumes and bring Hasbro Force F/X lightsabers - or we'll sell them to you there. In fact, we'll deliver your Boba Fett rollplay blaster and helmet to you while you wait in line, because we'll get that to you faster than we can get out your Eopie. It's only been since September. Give us a break!

Sincerely,

Hasbro Customer Service ;)

Sucks to hear you guys are still having troubles with yours. Hasbro's ticket system isn't ideal but it kinda works. I don't like this "wait 4 to 6 weeks" crap though, either you Hasbro guys sent it out or you didn't. You've waited long enough.

I just got a Nahdar Vebb form today, and I notice that there's a lot more room for writing the shipping info. But the check name, UPCs, and address are identical to the Eopie offer, so if they're not paying enough attention that could get easily mixed up in their systems.

What I want to know is, why Montana? I have nothing but good things to say about the state, but it's about as far away from centers of population as you can get in the lower 48. The carbon footprint we're generating in sending letters there and then having the items shipped all over the country must be astonishingly high.

On another note, Hasbro cashed my single check for 2 eopies sent in the same letter, so I'm anxious to see how that turns out.

JediTricks
02-26-2010, 06:13 PM
I suspect Montana is used often because there is no sales tax in that state.

Tycho
02-26-2010, 06:48 PM
Montana is used because there are no people living there.

It is precisely this reason that allows them to raise REAL Eopies there to model our action figures off of.

It is taking so long because the few employees that live there eat the Eopies for food because food shipments from the United States and Canada can't regularly get to them.

So when you order another Eopie, they first have to grow a real clone of one, in order to model your action figure.

It's really that simple. However, Hasbro won't relay its trade secrets in Q&A, but you can just ask Tycho - he knows the truth!

Got a postcard from Hasbro today saying that they underestimated demand and my Eopie will not ship until 5/10/10. A guy over on Rebelscum ordered eighty (80) Vebbs and got eighty (80) Eopies. He took pics of the boxes and all. My check was cashed the end of December and his was cashed the end of January. My Vebb check has yet to be cashed and I sent that in end of January. I'll never learn. But I'm NOT sending off for this Nadar Vebb, so that's a beginning...

Maerj2000

No, he meant to order 80 of the Nadar Vebb figure (which is the CW mailaway) and Hasblo messed up and sent him 80 Eopies. I guess they want him to mail them back but it will be a while before anyone sees one of those Eopies in their mailbox.

Hmmm... still, 80 of a Clone Wars Mon Calamari Jedi? That's a lot! Hasbro should send him a huge mailer box or a freight company to come out and get all those Eopies all at once.

What's he going to do with that many Nadar Vebbs? I guess if you're going to open all your figures you might as well get all the free stuff you can.

That's the thing though, it isn't free! The Eopie offer required a check for $6 s&h per set on top off the five UPC required (so I assume the Vebb offer was about the same). Sure, you've already spent about $3500 on the figures, but that's an extra $480 or so just to get these shipped to you? In terms of Star Wars goodies, I'd rather have the 4 BAT-ATs that would buy than 80 Vebbs (or Eopies). Just sayin, it's almost as crazy an idea as it sounds.

He's got to be a scalper-dealer. 80 Nadar Vebbs?!

If you want to build a Mon-Calamari military, HTS sells battlepacks of them (with Quarren and SCUBA troopers) online.

The only other Mon Cal Jedi was a female, who was friends with Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Young Adult books.

I'm ordering only 1 Nadar Vebb, and need to do so still.

There is Cighal, a female Mon Calamari from Luke's NJO, but I don't think she dresses like an Old Republic Jedi, and Nadar Vebb is not female, and therefore most likely not good for customizing either of these other two Mon Cal Jedi from the EU.

I said many times that I ordered 5 Eopies - but they're all for planned use between 3 dioramas.

DarkJedi5
03-02-2010, 01:06 AM
That's what I thought but how's a scalper gonna make money off of this thing? These are going to be so cheap and easy to get straight from Hasbro that everyone is gonna be able to get as many of these as they want. Even if there's high demand somewhere down the line (unlikely since we won't be seeing Nadar anytime soon) there's no guarantee that Hasbro won't rerelease the figure. Seems like a real dumb business practice.

Tycho
03-02-2010, 01:23 AM
You have to buy 5-6 figures that you must open or otherwise damage the packages to in order to get 5-6 PoPs, right. That's nearly $50 and add $6 (I'm guessing) for shipping.

A scalper can sell Nadar Vebb for about $50-60 from MOMC collectors as soon as they get them should they want them immediately. However, if they flood eBay, it will drive the price down.

Now if they already have PoPs for that many figures from army-building or something, more power to them. I think I should have that many.

80 x 5 PoPs is $3,200 or more worth of figures bought.

80 x $50 (if the auction closes that high) = $4,000. OK, in that case.

That's not bad. But the auctions won't close that high.

80 x $10 is still $800 which is not the $3,200 you need to put into getting the figures in the first place.

Also, I don't need to army-build any troops up that high any more. Even spending $3200 to make $800 if you sold every Nadar Vebb at about $50 each is so not worth bothering with!

I can make $800 with a few nights bartending and don't have to mail anything and can often wind up meeting new girls while I'm at it. I'm certainly looking at better views than of a ton of white mailer boxes.

And even a business like Brian's Toys or something that is going to sell their figures with PoPs missing as "damaged cards for discounts" or something, is not going to do much better over breaking even.

I'm sure a scalper wants 80 Nadar Vebbs but they are really stupid if I've stumbled upon their business plan because it won't work! And certainly not quickly. So I hope they are not paying interest on the $3,200 they had to put into this game. (Of course, those with a merchant's account at Hasbro might get wholesale prices for the figures, but still, the profit is very narrow).

03-02-2010, 01:50 AM
If somebody is already buying figures anyway, then they aren't really putting up extra money other than the check they have to send in. But that is almost the price of a figure, so they'd have to sell the figure for at least $12 to break even (assuming $5 shipping plus the $6.99 for the figure).

I can't remember, but there is something on the form you send in that says Eopie & Qui-Gon-Jinn figure offer so they don't make a mistake and send you the wrong figure?

Check out the thread, but this guy actually seems legit. He trades figures for UPCs and his intent is to be able to use the Vebb figures he gets as trade bait in the future to get 2 or 3 for one. He explains how he did it, but at the same time, shelling out $560 for shipping seems a bit out there. If I were him, I would have kept the Eopies as you gotta think he could get more in a trade for them, maybe not...

I have zero interest in Nahdar Vebb, I have the form right here on my desk but have no interest in the character. He was a dipsquid in his only episode and died a punk. Plus, there's something I find offputting about the Mon Cal design for a Jedi, and Hasbro's sculpt is quite "friendly" which I think is weird.

I sent off yesterday for one. If I get it, awesome. If not, as long as they don't cash the check and try to send me some Clone Wars POS, that's cool, too.

An odd question: given that the S&H would be $6.99 regardless, why did they bother including a Qui-Gon at all? Leave him out, folks still want the eopie, better profit margin for them. Go figure.

I'm not complaining about it, it just seems odd. Isn't it the Evolutions Qui-Gon? Everyone who was clamoring for a new Qui-Gon bought that set, or somehow got the figure.

If it were the original 2000 (?) Qui-Gon from the actual release of the Eopie, I could see that for the completionist nature. But a 2008 figure that was easy to find seems odd.

All I's saying is that, from a corporate standpoint, it would make much more sense to have the same S&H costs (especially since the one figure wouldn't really add much weight to the package) and POP requirements to get just the Eopie. It's more profit to not have to produce the Qui-Gon... unless they've got tons of him sitting around that they can't get rid of.

But a 2008 figure that was easy to find seems odd. That original Eopie Qui-Gon bites. It's centered around a button-pressing lightsaber slash gimmick, and has an awkward riding pose. Plus, digging up those old molds for a figure only a handful of completists want rather than using molds that are fresher, easily accessible, and in demand makes plenty of sense.

If any are left, offer them up on hasbrotoyshop.com for a premium several months later. And with these tougher economic days, people see something "free" or "buy ___, get ___" deals, they go for it. Most of the recent mail-aways haven't been all that great, but I feel like it's a "deal" because I can use all those POP I have saved up for such offers.

I sent in 1 envelope each for Sgt Bric and Boba Fett yesterday, and coincidentally my final Eopie set came in the mail. It however came with a HUGE hole in the middle and 3 pieces of packing tape over it. It's really bad, either the post office did it or the shipping people at Hasbro did. The hole barely missed both the Eopie and Qui-Gon inside.

Got my last Eeopie yesterday and the box was a little banged up and taped. Figures were fine, not sure what happened with this last shipment. Maybe its better to order these things earlier rather than later?
