Navajo Code Talkers will be walking in the NY Veteran's Day Parade today. They are in the process of establishing a, much earned, museum in their honor.

Their contributions in WWII are unimaginable, certainly without them we may not have won at Iwo Jima. Code Talkers served in every Marine assault in the South Pacific between 1942 and 1945.

IMO, they deserve their own memorial on "The Mall".

I'm disappointed that the events at the bottom of the SSG Forums page is blank. Eleventh hour, eleventh day, eleventh month?

But I'm wearing my flag All-Star Chuck Taylors, US Constitution (the document, not the ship) shirt, blue shorts today. Mad props to all the veterans out there!

On 11-11-11, I send all positive vibes out to our heroes (retired and passed on), and especially for safe wishes to our veterans-to-be who are currently serving, once they retire.

There aren't many vets still around who had a connection to Pearl Harbor Day. A great uncle of mine was there, but I think he was still on land, not on a ship.

My Gun fighting actor troop walked in the Christmas parade yesterday and we flew a flag to remember Pearl Harbor and had our announcer make note of that periodically. My family was military and included Vietnam veterans and Cuban Missile Crisis Cold War veterans even. I appreciate our military and in sending off a present for a friend that's in Afghanistan now

There aren't many vets still around who had a connection to Pearl Harbor Day. A great uncle of mine was there, but I think he was still on land, not on a ship.A local news channel showed a documentary "Return to Pearl Harbor" last night, it showed a 'honor flight' that took veterans of Pearl Harbor back to Pearl. It was VERY good, hopefully they'll show it again.

It's this weekend. My flag is out, and I hope to attend a couple (at least one) events on Sun. or Mon.

Our local community center celebrated its first official Veterans' Day at its new military courtyard. Here's 1/3 of a 21-gun salute, plus a beautiful mountain background of a beautiful flag, courtesy of those whose beautiful, selfless actions let us have such freedoms.
