My newest custom is one-armed Ponda. Mr. Baba had an unfortunate encounter w/ a lightsaber. I'm not 100% finished w/ this one. I think I'm going to line the edge of each stub in red to represent blood. The stump is black b/c of the carterizing affects of the lightsaber. Enjoy!:D

05-14-2002, 03:40 PM
that's one problem I had with the piuc in the movie of ponda's arm: there's blood coming out of it although the wound should be fried close

Sidiously Darth
05-14-2002, 07:48 PM
Maybe it had something to do with his physiology. Darth Maul had that cloud/spray of blood? when Obi-Wan cleaved him in half.

I may just leave it a black stump for now.

05-14-2002, 09:23 PM
Look sir, droids!
Excellent work Jargo and ACPin

Sidiously Darth, will you be adding magnets to Ponda's arm? :D

Keep them coming everyone, customization is a beautiful thing. :)

Sidiously Darth
05-14-2002, 11:54 PM
As of now, no magnets. There is actually a black stump about 1/8" or less that sticks out. That allows for the upper arm to attach to the lower arm. I'll do another scan soon so you can see.

05-15-2002, 08:37 AM
if hasbro is doing the cantina 2-packs with bonda baba, wouldn't it be perfect to give him a removable arm with magnet?

That's a great idea, I87, but knowing Hasbro, half of the magnets would be weak and the arm would fall off while holding his blaster.

05-15-2002, 04:19 PM
Hey Emeror jargo would you make and sell one of those astro droids you have there I think its the R3 t6?? If you are pm me and let me know, cause thats a nice lookin figure you made there

Sidiously Darth
05-19-2002, 06:20 PM
Here's another pic of my Ponda custom. You can see the stump that holds the lower arm.

05-24-2002, 11:51 AM
I made a whole lot of random alien customs to fill up the bar.
I just used the pieces left over from some intentional customs.
No pics - sorry
They're in Canada - I'm in England

I finally finished up my Captain Colton Antilles custom. I may add a new rank badge in the future. Hand added rank dots are hard to do.

well it looks pretty cool, not as buff as I thought
good work

06-28-2002, 02:28 PM
Thankx 187-Maul. It took a little work, but I got the job done.

Here's some custom droids I made a while ago. Haven't had much custom time lately, but I hope I can get back to it once summer is over.

Hi All!

Here's my newest custom.

Also, I've been experimenting w/ different paints. What does everyone else here use? I've noticed that acrylic craft paint does not work well around joints. It's hard enough to get it to adhere to the plastic. Thank goodness for acrylic sealer. Just wanted to know others opinions. Thanks!

07-04-2002, 05:12 AM
looks pretty cool
I've been thinking about making me an own bannis keeg but I don't have a second Duros:D so I have to wait till I have another one
I'll probably use luke gunnerstation for the body and legs

haha now I've desroyed you're nice order of the movie threads, sidiously darth

07-05-2002, 11:31 AM
Very nice job Sidiously Darth. I use acrylic craft paint and model paint as well ( use lightly cause when it drys it can get sticky ), then I clearcoat it.

07-05-2002, 02:21 PM
Thanks guys!

I've come to the conclusion that if I paint the entire figure, I'm going to lose articulation. I try to go for a pose that I'm happy with and will look good for the eventual diorama.

07-05-2002, 04:17 PM
Yes, but if you take your time you will not lose any articulation, I thought the same thing when I did my Captain Antilles figure. I painted him very slowly and never lost a bit of movement or anything else for that matter.

Mr. JabbaJohnL

I made a Melas figure. How, you ask?
*Take the normal Ketwol figure and turn his head around.
*Make a red turban out of a strip of cloth and wrap it around Ketwol's nose and tusks, but leave his eyes uncovered.
*Make a red cloth cloak for him - don't make it too loose, but kind of somewhere between the EI Naboo pack cloak and the JSP Obi-Wan cloak.
*Put the cloak on, but take off Ketwol's trench coat thing ahead of time.
*You can use Dex's Kamino Saberdart for a pipe or whatever, but I don't have Dex so don't take my word for it.
Voila! Your very own Melas, without completely screwing up your Ketwol! Or you can, by painting his hands orange, but the cloak kinda hides them . . . Oh well.

I saw a Fan's Choice #1 figure warming the peg, so I bought an extra one. I didn't do anything real fancy, just repainted his shirt.

07-20-2002, 06:50 PM
here is my uncle owen 12" autographed by phil brown. the hair looks better in reality than it does in this picture. the lighting wasnt good.

07-20-2002, 06:53 PM
here is a ds escape luke. i made this a long time before hasbro did. his knees and elbos are articulated but you cant tell it from the pic.

07-20-2002, 07:59 PM
Here is my attempt at LIN-V8K. He is wheeling around in the background while the Jawas are selling R2 and C3PO.

07-20-2002, 08:53 PM
hey rogue2 that LIN-V8K looks pretty cool
my brother made one some years ago too but this one looks way better (he didn't put much detail on him)

The plastic dome is actually a piece of a chair or fan (its some sort of knob). The antenna is a paperclip and the other 2 pieces of plastic are a gun from an R5-D4. I got the rust idea from going through other custom figure websites.

Very nice job dingodad, I can see the knees and elbows in the pic as well. How did you do this?

Again Nice work.

07-20-2002, 11:53 PM
thanks Brandon. his head arms and torso are from the flashback luke and the legs are from the commtech luke with the belt being from the gunner station.

07-20-2002, 11:57 PM
Cool, thankx for the pic and the info. Now I can work on another custom.

Keep up the good work.

From Pegwarmer (http://www.pegwarmer.com):

Just when you thought the Blurrg or 12" Bantha couldn't be topped, guess again...click here to see a preview of his Holo Chess Pieces from A New Hope. This photo with the 3 still unfinished should give you a good idea of what is to come...stay tuned...

If he gets the paint right, these are going to be incredible. Even Chewie's met his match. :p

sandcrawler droid ???

10-04-2002, 04:06 PM
Nice work on it, so far it's more accurate than the pack-in that'll come with the Sandcrawler ('course that was prototype in the pic) but it's the same mold and stuff. :D

10-10-2002, 01:18 PM
Here's my Imperial scanning Technician, hes made from one AT-ST Driver (body) and one misc army figure head with a paint job to the eyes, hair and hat.:)

Rogue II
10-10-2002, 01:25 PM
Good job. It looks better than the one that came with the carry case. I think Hasbro used the vintage imperial officer's head and the AT-ST Driver's body.

10-10-2002, 01:36 PM
Thanks Rogue II, I appreciate the compliment, I wanted a figure (head sculpt) that looked mean and evil like the Empire should be instead of some faceless (no expression) figure, but not over doing it either like Mace G/R had been done.:)

Thanks again.

10-11-2002, 11:46 PM
Wow, i really like the sandcrawler droid!! great work! the scanning trooper i like too, you guys are good. The only thing i have made so far is a final battle ROTJ luke skywalker.

11-07-2002, 02:11 PM
I don't do lots of customizing, mostly just paint touch ups but for the longest time I hated that POTF R5-D4 droid so I cut several pieces off (I didn't have the extra r2 body like Darth Vellner) including the guns on the side of the leg, the middle leg (that thing was hideous looking) and the flat platic piece that connected the feet together.

All the other customs on here are great too. It was a lot of fun seeing what others have done and some great ideas too!

But I really like yours alot too because he looks a bit smaller like he should, whereas mine still has a little bit of a bulky look. It's just really hard for me to chop up figures, but I want to so bad especially after seeing all the customs all of you have done! They are all so AWESOME!

Here's that other custom I promised. I know he's been done before but I know he'll never make it to figure stardom with the way Hasbro runs things.

This was pretty easy. I had an extra Thrawn so I popped his head and added a Tarkin w/ white hair and appropriate facial hair. Unfortunately, the stem broke so I had to glue the head on. I painted the hands flesh and the pants black and bang!

BTW, I'm not into redoing rank badges yet. Let's just overlook this one little area.

Looks like things have been a little slow around here lately. Well, I hope I can help things out a little.

I have 3 new customs, rather simple ones but nice ones if I don't say so myself.

My first is a POTJ Ben Kenobi w/ cloth robe. I know this has been done in the past but now it's my turn. I used the robe from one of the Ep. 1 accessory sets.

Here's another custom I forgot about. Basically, it's a POTF2 Sandtrooper with a repainted paltron - black, added articulation above the left elbow and repositioned right hand. I also gave him a different rifle.

I've had him for several years with the black paltron but just recently added the articulation and repositioned hand.

Bumping up A New Hope Customs.

Some of the links of my customs don't work. In order to see them, click on my homepage button at the bottom. If the custom is not on my website, click on the Photo Album link located on the left of my site.

Pics of all my customs are stored on my Epson PhotoCenter account.

last summer I got an additional Ellorrs Madak so I could make a Banniss Keeg, but the only problem was I needed a Luke in tatooine outfit to do the custom, and since I only had one Luke in that outfit (gunner station) I didn't wan't to use him
then spring this year, I finally got a loose CTC Luke on ebay for cheap, so I finally decided to do my custom :D I used the gunner station luke though cause the CTC Luke was too cool to customize
so long story short, here are the pics :D
the first pic shows which parts I used

08-22-2003, 08:26 PM
forgot to add this pic
I took it after I cut up both figs and I thought it was fun to post :)
BTW, Banniss isn't that orange in life, the flash kinda made his tunic look orange, though it actually is a light brown with a dark brown wash over it

08-22-2003, 09:36 PM
AWESOME 187...just plain AWESOME!! :)

Your paint job is really great on baniss keeg!

Thanks for those cool pics :)

10-25-2003, 10:47 PM
hey i've got plenty of customs and actually in the begining of building a full scale cantina for the potf scale figs, i need ideas on customs for the cantina aliens any pics would be nice too, that duros was awsome.

Check out FFURG.com for custom recipes and pics. Also, thecustomalliance.com has lots of customs.

Check out this link on starwars.com:

It's a roll-call for many of the aliens in the cantina.

Hope this helps.

Here's a little mining droid I need to finish

08-14-2007, 12:59 PM
I am considering taking one of my Ponda's from the Mos Eisley Cantina - Scene 2, taking the head off and using the Luke Skywalker Ceremony TAC figure body with some repainting, and creating a TAC level Ponda. So I have some questions:

1. What paint do you guys recommend using for customizing?
2. How should I bore out the Ponda head to fit onto the Luke ball joint neck? Dremel? Drill bit?

08-03-2011, 09:11 PM

Anyone ever make a custom Jerba creature? Even if no one has, any ideas of another figure that would make a good base for one? I doubt that we'll ever get an official version of one so I am pondering making one.
