View Full Version : How Much Do You Try To Get Done Each Day? Do You Succeed?

Barring the fact that I'm wasting time posting this right now, I need to be off in about an hour and a half on the road to see my grandfather for his birthday.

Of course he'll ask what I've been accomplishing.

I woke about 2 hours ago.

It took me nearly 20 minutes to get out of bed.

My cats didn't like that, so one of them crapped on the floor to let me know I should have been quicker to feed them.

I showered first because they'd annoyed me.

Then I went to the coffee shop for my usual breakfast because I can't take my meds on an empty stomach.

Now I'm taking my meds while I post this.

I have no idea if I got 8 hours of sleep last night (maybe), but I still feel overtired and ready to climb back into bed and get more sleep. That would be very healthy for me to do. But I'll miss lunch with my grandpa for his birthday.

I still need to:

shave

shower again - I always shower after I shave, it was just this morning, I had a bed-head and it was easiest to rid myself of it with the first shower before I went to the coffee shop. (The shop is in walking distance, btw).

wrap my grandpa and my uncle's gifts.

Take off for the road and long drive.

Grandpa wants to go to the casino for hours on his birthday. I really loathe those places and the constant bombardment of video game slot machine sounds. For a fan of heavy metal music, I REALLY apprecitate silence a lot of the time. Casinos are so not my favorite place to be.

Then on my way home, I'm stopping at my little brother's, and possibly having dinner with him and his wife, maybe seeing a movie with them, and definitely visiting his newest store and shipping warehouse. (I look in on him as a very proud big brother should.)

I hope when I return from all this, I can do a little bit of time on the eliptical for my gym routine. It's time to remove those 7 lbs I want to lose.

Right now, I'd so much rather sleep than even remove yesterday afternoon's shadow.

Ever feel like even the little things are too much to accomplish?

Maybe I just need more sleep?

Maybe I'll phone and say I'll visit after lunch, and nap some more now.

When I take my blood pressure medacine (don't even know if I need that any more, as my blood pressure has been so good after the kidney transplant!) I get tired for about an hour or so - unless something like "going to see Avatar" or something else entertaining energizes me.

Are you guys functioning OK? What the heck is my problem?

I don't know what's wrong with you. If you lived in a colder climate I could probably empathize with your lack of vigor. I don't feel like doing anything because it's colder than a Wampa's ice cave here and it gets dark (I mean pitch black) at 5:30 in the evening. I'd like to go outside and do something but the cold weather really makes it hard to do anything outdoors.

I did accomplish a heckuva lot this weekend though. Unfortunately it wasn't anything fun, just stuff that needed to be done (taking down and packing away christmas decor, etc).

I must say, that I myself set out on my days with good intentions of getting a lot done. So far today, I woke up about 7:30ish, gabbed a bowl of cereal and O.J., sat down at my computer, spent almost an hour on facebook, then some time at a few other sites, and now here. It's shortly after 9 a.m., and I still have to shower as my work day begins at 11. In about an hour, I will have to go out and start getting my car warmed up. Their are dirty dishes in the sink that need to get washed, and a note from my wife with a $10 bill asking me to pick up Peanut Butter and Jelly. Now iut doesn't state if I'm supposed to go to Jewel to buy it, or pick it up where I work (Wal-Mart).

Tomorrow I have the day off. I hope to get more done. Making a To Do list helps me greatly, without one, I forget to get things accomplished. One thing I need to get done tomorrow, is an oil change and tire rotation for my car. It is now 9:16 central time, I still need to look over other "New Posts" here, then my day on the computer should be done. I really have problems getting stuff accomplished when I know I have to be somewhere soon. It is now 9:18, and I still haven't posted this yet.

Today my only intention is to go back to work, get all my passwords and network access reset. So far it's taken 3 phone calls, 2 visits by the IT guys and nada has changed, having to use "guest" privelages sucks.

Yup. It gets dark here that early, too. Note: if you live on the planet earth, this phenonmenon is affecting everyone everywhere unfortunately. It's winter... (which might have a lot to do with my problem).

BobaFrett: I am NOT innocent of this at all. But we are spending way too much time on the internet - inclusive of this post. Although I am eating breakfast at the same time...

But I'm reading that you've spent 2 1/2 hours on the internet this morning? I've been online for about 20 minutes tops right now - if even that.

There are too many sites to keep up with. I want to glance at FB too, but SSG is my homepage that comes up when my computer turns on.

I have to get my smog test done to re-register my car (due by Jan. 20th or Arnold Schwarzeneggar is going to assess me with late fees - only in CA  )

I really have problems getting stuff accomplished when I know I have to be somewhere soon.

I can relate. In about 20 minutes I have to leave to take my cat to the veterinarian for her follow-up appointment. Joy. I'll be listening her howl and complain about my driving for 20 minutes there and 20 minutes back.

I'm writing down everything I do today (maybe each day this week) and analyzing how wisely I spend my time. I DO consider some breaks and fun stuff to be time wisely spent though. But I don't want all my play-time to be spent on the internet. I "have" to play the Chargers against the Broncos on my game system, too.

I could probaly get more done if my work schedule was different. I work 3 12 hour shifts a week.. 615 pm to 645 am. Thus Im usually sleeping during the day. I try to revert to getting up early on my days off but usually I just get my son to school and go back to bed. Ironically I feel I acheive much more in the morning hours if I am working on projects. Like this morning I spent time collecting info for my divorce. I feel I was way more efficient than I would be if doing so after noon.... go figure.

I used to spend hours on end staying up late and playing video games and felt I get more acheived than I do these days which is strange as well because I have no time for game.

I also used to burn up hours on the hunt for new figs and such, Im trying to cut back on this. Spent a whole lot of time lately hitting my 6 area Walmarts for the AT-ST, however no luch as all are still at regular price.

I think most of my time no goes toward avoiding my wife, the conflict she brings and all the accusations she makes. I get caught up in it because I spend so much time proving her wrong about what she says but it doesnt really matter because I think she already knows she is full of it and just does it to get at me. I should know better but it is so hurtful that I feel by convincing her otherwise would alter our situation, however she is on her on path, many think she has a disorder but who knows. I waste a lot of time dealing with all this.

I am sure one day I will have my life back and so much free time that I wont know what to do with myself.

Oh, add a cracked front wheel on a 2006 Toyota Carolla that now needs to be fixed. Yep, it's that cold.

I could deal with less daylight hours during winter if we had the warmer temps that San Diego enjoys. Just being outdoors for any extended period is difficult.

I wanted to get some reorganization done before the new year but didn't quite make it. I pushed myself and redid my figure displays during christmas vacation (now have 486 loose SW figures and 82 figs from other lines on display). I also wanted to go through my CD collection and thin it out but don't feel like doing it.

When I was in Indiana for past Star Wars Celebrations, it snowed on both occasions!

Today I was on FB about an hour to an hour and a half, while my wife slept. I was discussing amongst my family a weight loss bet that my brother has issued to me. I need to get up and get moving on this. Now my cousin Carrie, and her husband, and my sister and possibly her husband, as well as my father might get in on this. The bet is that the person who loses the most weight percentage wise by July 4th, then every person who is not a winner, owes the winner $100 with the money going to their charity of choice.

Now my wife is home sick. It's almost 10 am, and I'm still sitting here on my day off in my robe, still needing to get out and get my oil changed. Now I won't get most of what I would like to have gotten accomplished done, because I can't focus with other people being around. This evening is got me taking my son to his military training. That's usually about a 50 minute round trip to take him, and another 40 minutes on the return round trip.

I'm starting experiments again. After finishing them, I'll go home and change diapers and bring the baby to my wife for feedings till I go to bed. That will be almost everything that needs to be done.

Yesterday, the major things I got done:

changed the cat litter boxes
took my cat to her veterinarian appointment
picked up my medication from the pharmacy
got my smog test and paid my registration
picked up my friend David from the airport

Today the major thing I need to do is my graduate school application and readiness preparation.

I am also wanting to write my part in SirSteve's Year-In-Review (12th annual - for 2009). I just got on the computer to start that.

I feel that the older I get, the less I accomplish. Perhaps more sadly, the less I care that I accomplish so little.

Today I went to get an oil change but it was going to be about an almost 2 hour wait, so instead I headed across the street and my wife and I signed up for a membership at Xsport fitness, open 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Now I need to get to my workouts!

Generally the day always starts off with feeding the cats and dogs, then admittedly, I tend to waste the rest. I do attempt to exercise my writing through writing 1-2 pages worth a day, though.

After work yesterday I ran 6.23 miles which took me past 2-1B's house twice. (no joke I really did run by his house!)

Yeah, so how's he doing moving those T-47s? Making any progress?

I looked in the windows and I didn't see him and all the doors were locked and the windows were closed etc. so to answer your question I don't know.

Were there chairs turned over, TV still on, signs of a struggle?

JimJamBonds

Yes but then again that's how it normally is so I didn't take that as some sort of unusual sign.

My adopted mom set my priorities straight:

I'm being pulled in 4 different directions at least:

1) my novel (editing and soliciting for publication)
2) my job search (from retail to professional)
3) my grad school application period (open until March though)
4) my storage organization

She said to make room and clean up around my place, handling the storage (STAR WARS) first, but getting it done in 1 week (well - about).

So:

Sun - Prequel tan / red room stuff (Tatooine, Geonosis, Utopau, Mustafar)
Mon - black room - Prequel Coruscant
Tue - white room - Prequel synthetic (Droid Cont. Ship, Theed Hanger Duel)
Wed - Prequel green room (Naboo, Alderaan)
Thu - Prequel olive room (Otah Gunga, Kamino, Kashyyyk, Fallucia, Selucamae)
Fri - OT black room - (Death Star, deep space)
Sat - OT white room - (Hoth, Bespin)
Sun - OT green room - (Endor)
Sun - OT olive room (Yavin, Dagobah)
Mon - OT tan room - (Tatooine - Mos Eisley and Jabba's)

DONE!!! (save for EU stuff)

12"
Clone Wars
Jedi Force
Force Battlers etc will be sorted during the process.

It's really time to go for it!!!

Become an English teacher, where the word "scantron" doesn't really exist, and you'll find your "free time" becomes "meet fire," in true anagram style.

On the weekends, I "sleep in" until 6:30am sometimes. During the week, I occasionally can do "fun" things after about 4:30, and maybe after 8:00. The rest of the day's pretty much spoken for. :(

But for the most part, I get done what I need to do, or at least close to getting there. I don't like to let others down, much less myself; it's both a character flaw and strength.

I have a personal training session in about 1 hour from now. If the trainer lets me, I will stay after and get some cardio in. I'm feeling really good, and working out has bacome a priority. Besides, I need to look good in my Stormtrooper armor come this June, at the "Relay for Life" cancer walk.

My gym routine is going good, but I've had things come up that I've had to take care of in my job search (which were good opportunities to try for) so my Star Wars storage project will have a delayed start - tomorrow.

I managed to get to the gym before breakfast this morning. I work 11 am until 8 pm tonight, then I come home, change my clothes, and my wife and I will be going back this evening to get a little more cardio, or perhaps some ab work in.

Today so far I managed to go for a run and do some post run working out, I then made some pancakes and took a nap. At some point I'll get to the library as well.

I worked out this morning - cross-trainer only because of my hernia surgery. I expect to be clear to begin weight lifting February 14th (yeah, heavy will be the burden of Valentine's Day). By then I'll be on the cross-trainer for 35 minutes regularly anyway - a good time to probably hold it at.

Anyway, I only slept 5 hours last night. After my workout I went to Target (to buy colored construction paper) and then to breakfast. Then I too NAPPED  for 4 hours. I feel much better. That's 9 hours sleep. I'll add the extra hour towards my catching up with lost sleep for weeks past. I think I've been sleeping bad on-and-off since December 12.

Meanwhile, if I stay home today, I can use the construction paper to list the contents of each scene going into my Star Wars storage.

Today I'm using "peach" for the Prequel Era planets around those tan / red colors:

Tatooine
Geonosis
Utopau
Mustafar

I have a lot of stuff that goes in that storage:

Mos Espa
the Pod Race
the Arena
the Attack of the Clones
the Battle of Geonosis
the Invasion of Utopau
the Jedi v Sith Duel at Mustafar

I also have to pick up my new shoes I had the repair-man work on because I need a lift put into one of them to even out my legs and it's been 5 years since I got new shoes.
