02-27-2002, 09:50 AM
Alas Warstar, I have another engagement on the 14th. Are you going up to Denver from the Springs that day or are you staying in Denver? I think VT already plans to be at Spacedock, so you should have a great VTeatime. If you have your own camera and take some pics, you can send them to me and I'll post them:D

02-27-2002, 11:34 AM
3:30 sounds good; but arrive early if you wanna browse downstairs 1st, cuz afterwards, if dee2 won't be along, mebbe we'll hook up w/b'jr & have us a boys nite out: ever been to paris (http://www.parisontheplatte.com/webcam.html)? sacre bleu (http://www.sacrebleudenver.com/Atmosphere.htm)? shotgun willies (http://shotgunwillies.citysearch.com/)? (dee2's right, Definitely bring a digicam  ) or mebbe watch some choice indie dykeflik (http://sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=2216&pagenumber=1) on b'jr's VidprojecTor; you Are a flimstudent after all, right? you can tell yer teachers you did some xtree credit homework ;)
meanwhile, between now & then i'll see if i can't find some astoundin bargain for dee2 that she'll just Have to come up & get on the 14th :) :D so you're sposed to bring aussiebraid and potj sandy $$, right? anythin else? i'm sposed to bring 3 potj sandies right? anythin else?
Fed Spacedock still has morocc gunpowder on the menu (http://www.tatteredcover.com/NASApp/store/IndexJsp?GXHC_GX_jst=90c77146662d6167&GXHC_gx_session_id_store=3e0aa99b80fb746e&s=localinterest&page=133107) (though if it's anywhere near this cold i'll prefer uhl grey ;) ), but thankfully your stankyass reubens got phased out 2 or 3 menus ago so :p

"I MISS Micromachines! *SIGH!*"
-well don't just bellyache Here, cuz for the first time in years we got a real shot at gettin stmms brought back! so go make yerself heard where it counts (http://www.artasylum.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=000047)! and that goes for the resta yew Dogfaces! mobilize!! move out!! SCHNELLL!!

03-04-2002, 02:09 AM
Yep- I owe you the Aussie Braid $$$, and the trooper $$$, and then as many of those Tatts as you can (up to 12) and it's all good :)

I see Entertainment Earth is offering cases of SW AF's? Weird.

Damn Reubens :( I miss those. Perkins has them here though ;)

I will be the on the 14th if I can- I might leave afterward and head back up here though (I gotta' be back before school kicks in- it is also weather-dependent ((i.e. if a bad forecast is made earlier in the week, I will have to come back sooner))- so I will keep you posted. It would suck if there were no flicks :( or toys/boys night out, but driving 10+ hours in nice weather and not dying on the way up is important)

I DEFINITELY want to be there and see you and mebbe the rest of the crew though :)

Anyway, anything anyone wants? I could see about picking it up before I go (no sales tax after all :D)

Lemme know.

03-04-2002, 11:42 PM
"not dying on the way up is important"
-sheesh, some people got theys priorities All screwed up ;) i VorecasT conditions'll be favorable to my notions :) and maybe haggie (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=43695#post43695)'ll join us, that'd be ok w/you, right? good :D
perkins

03-06-2002, 01:53 AM
Cool. It'll be good to meet some fellow AF collectors. Are you talking about the Tattered in Cherry Creek or LoDo? Where abouts do you guys meet? It's a damn big bookstore.

I don't have anything to trade. I only buy one of each AF and some of the 3 3/4 figures but never any extras. I'm more than happy to pick things up for people if I see "wanted" items at the store though.

03-07-2002, 02:54 PM
The big ol' Tattered across from Cherry Creek Mall- at the aptly named Fourth Story restaurant on the 4th floor :)

I should be able to be there with bells on ^_^

Hasta for now :)

Don't forget that I owe you a couple of MM sized ships. Consider yourself lucky I didn't change my name and move to Mexico. I seriously contemplated doing that.

03-12-2002, 03:05 PM
WELL, ws, haggie (& longshot astromechs ar2 & dee2 :) ), just confirming thursday rendez's still a go :)
haggie: i'm easy to spot- if there's any sun at all i'll be along the south window w/mms arrayed on the sill  and if no sun, i'll be in one of the high-backed, bookshelved booths  either way, be advised that kitchen goes on break between 4 and 5pm, so if hungry you gotta order before or after that-

03-12-2002, 05:49 PM
I shall arrive no later than 4:30. The new trailer IS cool...but...can't...let...old...habits start...again! >_<!

03-13-2002, 03:00 PM
well haggie, ws is in; and you? :)
lbc: ws just emailed me &, uh, sez he wants you to give me all the mms you were gonna give him, uh, yeh, det's da ticket ;) :D

I'll be there around 4:00. I'll wear a bright yellow Forsberg jersey so I stick out. See ya then.

03-14-2002, 10:47 AM
. . . it might clash w/the tasteful earthtones of da joint ;) oh well, whatever you're comfy stickin out in, it's not like fs has a dress code
2day's da day, boys; and what a day it is weatherwise eh? i'll bring rare mm figs just in case ar2 can pop by :)

Sorry vt, I'll be working til 5 today.

03-14-2002, 12:26 PM
sheesh - the excitement & anticipation are killin' me, and I'm not even gonna be there. Have a great time!

03-14-2002, 01:55 PM
Looks like I will have to opt out today afterall. I just got handed some new work from one of my clients. They want to have it done by tomorrow so I'm going to have to work all day and night to get it done. So goes the world of contract programming. I definitely want to meet you guys sometime so be sure to let me know when you plan to meet again and I'll see if I can make it.

03-16-2002, 11:37 AM
yeah, we were wonderin where you was at haggie; oh well, there'll be other occasions (gonna attend starcon in april? maybe a few of us'll meet up there friday night :) ).
too bad dee2 couldn't join us, cuz it was gray all afternoon & i opted for a booth (which i gather she's long wanted to try), which only happens once or twice a year. it even started snowin towards the end of our stay (bad for ws, who was trekkin straight to montana from there, but great for me since i went to the merc (http://www.mercurycafe.com/calendar.html) afterwards :) ).
ws is a much more interestin conversationalist since startin filmschool ;) cuz we were able to discuss french new wave, italian neoreal, weimar, noir, warhol, 90s indies & specific directors (btw ws, more recommendations: truffaut's Small Change, bergman's Persona, and of course flix gettin fresh raves over on da hump (http://sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=2216&pagenumber=1) :) ).
ws & i took a coupla pix w/his 35mm, but he forgot the flash in his truck so we can only hope they came out :sur: he's gonna develop the roll himself & send scans to you, dee2; even if they suck i'd still love to see em :) one pic features the harrier custom bc3 sent me & which ws thought was supercool
btw, the $4 action figure archive book offer i reported in latest hunt post has been spoken for: i brought in case ws or haggie might want, but before either showed one of the waiters eagerly scooped up that bargain ;)
lotta fun, too bad more of you didn't crowd into that big cozy booth with us :)

01-06-2003, 11:30 AM
oh well guess i'll use this one since it at least has her name in title ;)
didn't mean to delay this report; was busy with, among other things, posting new year's Hump (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=209472#post209472) before passage of time rendered it moot ;) anyhoo this latest tea (http://www.twinsuntimes.com/toyforce/vttime2003.htm) was SOOOOO fun (is this (http://www.twinsuntimes.com/toyforce/IMAGES/vtime2003VTD.JPG) a lilac-enough "jumpsuit" for you jdah?? ;) ) as r2 sez she brought along cf ssd, new eka, delux clone, xmas droids and 3 startour droids so i could view in person/out-of package to help decide if i wanna pursue :) also her atst proto which i'll review soon :) but best of all she had a tru silver r2 figure for me :D hadn't seen in person so likewise wanted to before deciding whether to get, but as you can see from the kubrickian snapshot (http://www.twinsuntimes.com/toyforce/IMAGES/r2figswindow_7.JPG) i took of it it (alongside rocketd2 i customed w/r2r9's red lightpipe), with its not-lightpipe black eye and blue-green detailing it was just too cool & unique to turn down  (btw r2 i thought of a way to correct endemic backwards legs: cut off the wheels at the "cankles" (thanx for term, Shallow Hal  ) and swap-reglue em :)
also decided i definitely want startour r4m9 and possibly r3d3, rx-24 and the still-unrevealed ones so jt & gsj keep me in mind if you hit disneys :greedy:
she managed some pretty good pix of gsj's array proto but i'm afraid ef1 proto uniqueness eluded us photographically (proto is the one resting on r2b1 power harness). as you may've noticed, ef1 proto is currently missing top fin. that's cuz it disappeared when i took it to show b'jr a coupla weeks ago and hasn't turned up since. there's still a coupla places i can check for it (such as the rooftop patio of his trendy uptown loft), but if it's gone for good i guess we'll just hafta be glad it has 3 more identical ones :o
on a similar note i somehow managed to Forget My Wallet that day (contrary to impression just-cited incident might give i hardly ever forget or lose anything; sigh, i felt like Walletboy from the Get A Life ep of the same name :p oh well, maybe i was just excited to see r2 again? ) so r2 kindly spotted me the $$ for tea which i insist on reimbursing so nobody here let her forget :)
gave her a big frito display (luckily she dug it, otherwise i woulda felt bad about her driving so far & not having anything significant to offer to make it worth her while), a "christmas in the stars" lp and a fashion shot (http://www.twinsuntimes.com/toyforce/IMAGES/magdewbackfromvt2_5.jpg) from an april '01 spanish-edition Bazaar mag i thought might enjoy :)
speakin of which, the post-new-year's mm fashpalette (http://www.twinsuntimes.com/toyforce/IMAGES/vtime2003windowfigs_7.JPG) mediated between holiday metallics, the stark, rakish-angled Venice/Venice lighting and the pale winter blues of the next coupla weeks :) because this was our first tea so close to winter solstice, the syd-mead-designed sunset (http://www.twinsuntimes.com/toyforce/IMAGES/vtime2003sunsetB_7.JPG) happened early enough for us to stay & view it (was Way better than pic indicates), and to take advantage of "magic hour" lighting for most of these pix :)
p.s. to ws: Still waiting to see pix from march tea (prev. post) :)

01-06-2003, 01:50 PM
Oh my! You're already loosin' proto parts?!? It looks as though they're seein' too much action. I hope we have not seen the last of the complete EF1 proto.

Be still my beating heart.....

01-06-2003, 03:50 PM
Great report VT and A massive  mmwah! to R for sending me the pics to my email address so I could partake in the despatches.

That ST is coola ma lullah, and I love the flying SE droid behind him/her. I've not seen ST in the UK, have you BC3? Of course my favourite is the R2 pic and especially the Sivler one, when will we get these?

You mentioned other astro's are these out yet?

VT the lilac shirt is the kind of thing I would wear. Not at all what I would expect from you. Danger, danger, Abort, Ghetto Bunny alert! :p The central pattern (similar to a cross section of an orange) is almost Identical to a Crop Circle I surveyed in 2000. :)

I have no idea what that blue round thingy on the power harness is. I like the look of it from a motif POV.

Also the caretakes array looks so crystal clear compared to the one you got next to it, and somewhat Otoh Gunga'ish in a Neo-Classical kinda way. All angular and sharp. And almost organic.

The only  for me is the AT-ST. I am not an Imperial lover and although when ROTJ came out I loved this walker, I never got on with the mm and only quite liked the AF battle pack version - because of my prejudices. In addition, my ageing eyes cannot make out too muchy difference between the proto and the prodo. Who's is the proto, anyway?

Blessings and love around (new soppy jeddah for oh three) :)

01-06-2003, 04:07 PM
Hey Jeddah

Yup - have seen it.........and bagged it !!

It comes with the droid in a diorama (that is made of cardboard and is AWFUL (it took Jnr about 3 days to completely trah it)).

I think that I only paid about 5 for it.

If you look around online, you should be able to pick it up.

Do want one of those silver R2's - but @ 30, I think that I will pass.

There is a very cool 2 pack of Jedi Investigator Droids coming out soon though.

Cheers & ta-ra

glit: "hope we have not seen the last of the complete EF1 proto"
-of course, it likely wouldn't've been a problem if top fin'd come attached like it was sposedta ;) bjr's gettin kicked out of his loft in 3 days cuz of disruptive incidents & cop visits ("sounds like a real stormy relationship" - nick nolte, 48 Hrs ;) ) so i'll try to do roofside search before then. otherwise, as bb king sang The Fin Is Gawne :(

jdah: "Not at all what I would expect from you. Danger, danger, Abort, Ghetto Bunny alert!"
-i personally don't imagine many ghettobunnies sportin that much Lilac :sur: if you think that's unexpected try this on: that top's at least 14 years old cuz that's how long ago i scored it 2nd-hand for $10 for its moebius-esque colors and design connotations (back at a time when there was very little of that kinda thing to be found in fashion or other design, btw  )
btw ironically target-like central swirl was the logo for the sniper-plagued '72 olympics (the whole front was a munich games motif, while the back was a 1912 stockholm motif, thus perhaps the whole thing had some kind of 60th-anniversary significance??).
jdah, bc3: custom stormie's (http://www.twinsuntimes.com/toyforce/IMAGES/vtime2003customfigs_8words.JPG) actually the super-articulated commtech with potj sandtrooper pauldron & binocs added on. i was also able to score the patrol droid separate from its trooper or diorama (http://systems.figures.com/database/index.html?page=detail&sdomid=5&sitemid=782) (which i didn't want) for only $0.50, then cut a slot into ct's back to mount its stand :) meanwhile, custom jango details here (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=210200#post210200) in case interested :)
you didn't know about startour astros (http://systems.figures.com/database/index.html?page=items&sdomid=5&sserid=2344) jdah? but y'all Did know kubrick's Shining took place in winter near these parts, right? "come and play with us Jeddy. . . for evah. . . and evah. . . and Evah (http://www.twinsuntimes.com/toyforce/IMAGES/r2figswindow_7.JPG)"
p.s. to r2: looks like i was right, mah good looks are Definitely on the wane; time i start practicing bein a ugly ol grouch (HEY YOU DAMN KIDS KEEP OFFA MY LAWN! :frus: )

kubricks shining did indeed take place near ya, (nice scene of old stapelton in the snow), but actually was filmed at the mount hood resort just outside portland oregon.

having been a denzien of the pacific northwest about the time that they shot the flic, it was the scuttlebut of conversation in the city of roses at the time.

as fer your good looks, don't believe the hype buddy, you look mahvelaaaaaaaaas!

01-07-2003, 11:11 PM
& while i appreciate the kind word gsj (even tho to my knowledge you look Nuthin like susan (http://www.efanguide.com/~susanpratt/images/cs/04.jpg) ), you may've misunderstood my intent: i wasn't fishin for compliments but merely demonstrating my unsentimental clarity, even when i'm the one under the microscope :Pirate: besides i been kinda lookin forward to sporting an even More off-putting persona in my dotage than i already do
speakin of dotage, one thing we forgot to do was picture your array's underside "spiral lights" to show their distinct difference from prodo's

jdah: "have no idea what that blue round thingy on the power harness is"
-really? in that case i'm glad i sent bc3 that 6-back b5 card for his superuseful site (i reference it constantly) cuz now i can simply refer you to the ef1 pictured thereon (http://freespace.virgin.net/james.hobson/packcards.htm) :D
yknow i never Intended to collect so many astromech figs, but they just keep coming out w/so many appealing variants i can't resist :sur: i already have 6 (6&1/2 if you count the red r2 head installed on my potj ywing ;) ) and may have as many as 9 by the time i'm done with the startour droids
speakin of, thanx for disney mailorder phone# r2, i usually hate deploying my $$ thusly since i don't get to personally choose a paintjob execution to my liking And s&h is always criminally high. but since disneyland just announced an admission price increase maybe i shouldn't hold breath waiting for our-disney-local forummers to do a run; besides, since tokyo joe's already told me he wants one of each fig maybe the s&h'd average out to acceptable levels for a bulk order (hey, maybe several of us should order together?) :D

good shot jansen

i finally got around to looking at all the pics from the latest VTea time. the capt.'s yacht's glowing blue nacelles were captured perfectly at that time of day. wow! (http://www.twinsuntimes.com/toyforce/IMAGES/vtime2003windowfigs_7.JPG)

r2, you might want to change the year date your showing here (http://www.twinsuntimes.com/toyforce/vttime.htm), i know it's hard to believe that time keeps marching on:eek:

as fer your good looks mr. touch, i wasn't funnin' wit ch'a, i always thought you (http://www.twinsuntimes.com/toyforce/IMAGES/vtime2003VTD.JPG) looked like a short haired neil young

np:neil young - (keep on) rockin' in the free world :o

alternate np: neil young - long may you run:happy:

neil young eh? i've heard everything from weaselly crasher to mick jagger but that's a new one to me; ever see his hilarious jack-nicholson-esque stalker turn in early-80s vid to his song "i'm wonderin"? :crazed:
p.s. to r2: hey i know, change date to the catchier 01/02/03 :)

YAY! Glad they are still around! :)

. . .but meanwhile i'll just xplain that during our latest tea thrusday, my initial windowsill palette (http://r2toyforce.net/IMAGES/vttimemay2003A_6Aut_7121.jpg) doesn't resonate with the lighting cuz i'd set it up while it was still sunny, & we got to talkin so much we forgot to snap a pic before aft clouds moved in. otherwise, yall woulda been able to see just how Perfectly appropriate the late-spring blues & greens were, with the hints of purple hinting at the oncoming summer :) anyhoo i later corrected (http://r2toyforce.net/IMAGES/vttimemay2003A_6Aut_7123.jpg) the mm deployment to account for the lighting change. as always, mm fashion is a bucking beast one must stay on top of, ride em cowboy
in case anyone's curious: ingredients for color-coordinated pitdroid stap (http://r2toyforce.net/IMAGES/vttimemay2003A_5Aut_7115.jpg) are clonepilot's ballgun, boshek's pistol, oom-9's antenna & binocs (used for backpack) and of coruse gasgano pitdroid :)
gsj: personally i still see george thorogood more than neil young(not that i have a preference between them, personally i'd rather it be, oh idunno, sugar ray or vanilla ice :crazed: ), but just for you i tried my best (http://r2toyforce.net/IMAGES/vttimemay2003vtblurAut_7126.jpg) to resemble neil :crazed: also marlon brando (http://r2toyforce.net/IMAGES/vttimemay2003vtbrandoAut_7125.jpg) so as to begin to live up to the "many faces of vt" billing r2's labeled pix of me on her site with. (or is it more reminiscent of captive chakotay gettin worked over by the kazon? :crazed: oh well, if mrh had shown up with my libdroids i was even gonna give him my nasal, rear-palate monolog about "the service he has graciously performed me on this day of my daughter's wedding" )
darjeeling for r2, moroccan gunpowder mint for me since the aft high was 85f :) r2 recently bought the Nemesis dvd and gave me a rombirdlogo-shaped minidisc it came with cuz it wouldn't play on her comp, Thanx :) also left with me a great-shape ent-b/kbop/sep-entd Generations mm 3-pack she's winnowing from her collection, in case b'jr or any of you want it for the $6 she originally paid (adhering impeccably to terms of my longwinded ethical guidelines (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=17869&perpage=15&pagenumber=1), i'm gratifried to note  )
after remanding custody of ephant & atst proto to r2 we swapped lotta fun gossip about gates mcfadden's snippiness, how glitch only answers follow-up quextions we forummers pose him maybe 1/3 of the time which is why i no longer bother, etc ;) a fab visit as always, with the focus only slightly detracted from by my occasional hungry glance towards the foyer to see if that movement in the corner of my eye was mrhat Finally arriving with my libdroids, yum yum :sur: hey, can't blame a guy for salivating, after all toys are why we're all in this game in the first place right? ;) thanx again r2 :)

ps to ws: Still waitin to see pix from our fs booth VisiT :)

HERE'S the link to the TEA (http://r2toyforce.net/vttime2003may.htm) I know VT just wanted me to post it so I would say something about the tea :D ;) It was very nice as usual and he was the perfect gentleman :D I'm sorry that the faces of VT were not the most focused, will have to try harder next time.

It was nice to see LT Basker's proto and nice to have my baby AT-ST back. Thanks to VT too, for holding an Ephant Mon for me. It's sure been scarce around my area.

Thanks to you again VT

r2: "VT just wanted me to post it so I would say something"
-while i'm certainly not above pursuing ulterior motives thusly, actually i just wasn't sure if you hadn't yet posted it cuz you were still tweaking the page to your satisfaction, so i didn't wanna let cat outta bag prematurely :sur:

"he was the perfect gentleman"
-Hah, good one ;)
