Spend $250 in three months to get a $5 gift card? After three months, all points expire and you start over?

How many of those gift cards are they sending out? Three nationwide?

Yeah, I wasn't thrilled to find that I was a mere $26 dollars away from it this cycle, but lost everything. They really need to get their crap together if they want me to bother taking that little card out of my wallet. And a 1/50th reward isn't enough to make me drop $26 on stuff I don't want.

I suspect this will work a lot better for new parents who get a lot of baby supplies than it will toy fans.

I hadn't even heard of the program; I would never even get close to redeeming a card.

The rewards program with TRU that I enolled in is five dollars for every one hundred and fifty you spend in a specific period. I don't know if they have changed it since then as I haven't spent one hundred and fifty dollars in a period since my birthday.

It's not a bad program unless it has changed to what you said, especially when I buy toys for my kids there at Christmas.

The problem with the 5 dollars is, you get the coupon with a week left in a month and you only have till the end of the month to spend it.

Actually, I just looked again. The site says I've spent about $155 in this period, and need $145 to get a certificate. I added wrong, but I'm guessing it is, indeed, still $150.

Not sure why it tells me I've earned zero rewards certificates, though.

Nope. At TRU/BRU prices we're better off either going to WM or using an Amazon credit card on their website.

It's not even a gift card, just a $5 off coupon and you usually only have a month to redeem it.

Best Buy isn't much better. I bought a BOSE speaker for my I-Pod. Expecting a big rewards certificate. Just got a $5 coupon through my e-mail.

Better than nothing, but I expected better.

Hey, where do you go to check your rewards status?

Hey, where do you go to check your rewards status?

You can do it over two ways. If you have a Online account, you can set up your rewards card through the toysrus.com account page and view it through there.

The second way is to go to the website on the back of the card. From personal experence, this will lead to a long, painful phone call with the rewards people to get it set up.

I already have my rewards account tied to my www.toysrus.com (http://www.toysrus.com) account, I was just wondering if there was a way to check it there or if there is another section of the website to check my rewards status.

Somewhere on the main homepage is a link to Rewards 'R' Us. I think at the top.

Better than nothing, but I expected better. When I got my HDTV last year there, it was $600 and netted me a whopping $10 rewards cert. I did use the cert to get a nice pair of earbuds, but c'mon, what kind of reward is that???

Took some digging, but ditto. Thing is, they supposedly mailed it in mid-July, when I know I hadn't earned enough points, and it didn't show up on their site until August.

They're also slow as dirt shipping stuff from their website. My items were "located in stock" two days ago. And still are "located in stock." What, is there one guy with my stuff sitting on his desk, gathering dust while he surfs the web for naughty pictures?

I would get $5 certificates from BB, too, at some random rate. I also would get rewards stuff from Staples when I knew for certain I hadn't bought anything from them in some time; I wonder if they just want to tease you into buying more. Would a store do that?

I miss getting discount coupons from Borders. I haven't bought anything from them once they cut me off! :shakesfist: :tired:

Staples used to run some deals where you'd get items free with a rebate. But they were "free" because they combined the rebate with the store credit from their rewards program--and they don't tell you when you get one of these "free" items, but the rewards rebate maxes out. So if you spend a lot on, say, school supplies, and get some of the free items, they might not be free because you already got too much in rebates that period.

TRU finally got me the $5 rewards certificate on the 16th, I believe. And guess what, it was to expire 13 days after I received it in the mail. CLASSY! I ended up using it on a TVC figure, but I suspect that'll be the last rewards cert I ever get from them.

Probably because they realized you bought them all.

I got my reward and it was only 5 bucks. I got that just with the Snowspeeder and Halo Reach. I have bought several other big ticket items from there as well but went unaccounted for. I going to have to reset my password to find out what is up.

I never got my Staples Rewards for the millions of ink cartridges I took in, so I don't even bother going there. The cashier even said I had a credit and it would have been mailed out that month. What a joke their system is.

Well, TRU rewards is a little better for the holidays..You get 10% rewards back for every purchase with a maximum of $50 rewards from now until december....:)

and for some reason, they are giving me more qualifying dollars for every purchase...I bought the Rise of Boba battle pack for $59.99 and received $104.99 in rewards...????????

I don't know how this program is supposed to work, but I went in there and spent $250 on toys for my kids' Christmas about 6 weeks ago. I figured I would get some type of coupon or something for that, not to mention the other $100 I spent during the summer. How does it work?

First, you have to apply for a rewards card which is basically signing up and they hand you a card....then, every purchase you make they scan the card and add it to your rewards card....for every $150 you spend you get a $5 rewards coupon....Now until december, you get 10% back in rewards dollars...I spent $190 there monday and received $19 in rewards coupons.....the maximum is $50 rewards from now until Dec 24th....hope this helps:thumbsup:

BTW they email you the rewards...and you can check your total online

Yes, I have the rewards card and get it scanned everytime I make a purchase, but I have yet to receive any rewards. As I said earlier, I've spent $350 in the last 4 or 5 months and gotten jack-sh**for rewards. It sucks.

Ok, so we are in Panic mode...you have to call https://rewardsrus.toysrus.com/Faq.cfm and ask to speak with the rewards specialist...they will retro-credit you the rewards up to 3 months

No not panic mode. I already called. I did not know that if an item is on sale, on clearance, or you use a coupon then you only get credit for $0.50 on the dollar. So I spent $250, but all of it was on sale, so I only got credit for $125 spent. You have to spend $150 within their promo periods (usually about 60 days) to get a $5 off coupon. As the thread title states, this is truly the most worthless rewards program ever! Spend $150 on regularly priced stuff, and we'll give you a coupon for 3% back on what you spent. But you better use it quick, because the expiration date is two weeks away. Freaking awesome!

They've added a new feature to their Rewards, now you can use it for returns without a receipt. That's pretty handy, something Target does with any debit/credit card, and WM doesn't have at all.

Let's be honest..something is better than nothing...I got $20 in rewards last promotional period and I used to to knock down the price of the Rise of Boba to $59.99......I did call customer service for some missing qualifying purchases and they apologized and sent me TWO $5 gift cards for free....just be kind:thumbsup:

Did anyone else achieve the milestone for the $50 rewards 10% cash back this XMAS season???? My rewards said the certificates will be ready by 1/2/11....Just a heads up for those who are actually in the TRU rewards program

Maradona
12-28-2010, 11:00 AM
If I understand their method correctly, and I hope I'm wrong, you'll get the certificates in increments of $5, of which you will be unable to use them all at the same time, since they will be issued with windows of time in which they can be used. I had $25 dollars issued to me in December and could use $5 in the period from 12/1-12/15, $10 from 12/16-12/31, and $10 from 1/1-1/10. Ridiculous!

I notice that during the period where we have to use the rewards from the 10% promotion, they're not awarding points.

Really, TRU, why don't you come up with a system just a little bit less insanely complicated?

I too, am not entiretly thrilled with TRUs rewards program, but I know one that's even more worthless. Having recently bought a home, I signed up for the Sears rewards program, and after having spent nearly a thousand bucks on appliances I had earned almost ten bucks! I didn't have to wait for a certificate, but wow...a whole dollar for every hundred spent?!

I just got my rewards through my e-mail. I almost threw them out because the way it was titled, I thought it was spam.

One 4 dollar and one 5 dollar gift certificate for this week, and one 4 dollar gift certificate for next week.

I supose it's not the worse, but what the heck will I buy when my Toys R' Us refused to restock after Christmas?

At the beginning of the month I received by email $16.00 in Rewards Dollars. $10.00 of it expires today, and the other $6.00 is good TOMORROW through the end of the month.

And then TODAY, I received by email another $31.00 in Rewards Dollars. So I have $41.00 Rewards Dollars through close of business today or starting tomorrow, $37.00 Rewards Dollars.

I think I am going to pick up a Nerf Vulcan tonight.

I signed up for the Rewards card last year. Used it a couple of times at Christmas but I don't shop at TRU that much because of their prices.

I got the $2 or $5 email notice, too, but it expired before I could use it.
