I'm a big music person and I'd like to know what type of music my fellow SW fans listen to. I listen to bands like Rage Against the Machine, Orgy , Static-x, Sevendust, Powerman 5000, Slipknot, Fear Factory, Travail, Cold, Adema, Beck, CCR, Skillet, and many more. What are some of your favorite bands or artists.

Anything orchestral--I'm not picky. My radio is permanantly tuned to National Public Radio. I listen to film score, my favorite artists in that genre being John Williams, Angelo Badalamenti, Danny Elfman, and Hans Zimmer. I listen to classical, my favorite composer in that genre being Beethoven.
Also, I listen to classic rock--any classic rock except for hair metal bands. I find the occasional new rock band listenable, such as Seven Mary Three, Mike Errico, Everclear, Badly Drawn Boy, Pete Yorn, The Roots, Rusted Root, and Dave Matthews Band.
I'm not the cool kid in my high school, obviously. Ha.

My taste is some what hard to pend down. I can go from hard rock to soft and then to country then to classical. This can happen all in one sit down with the radio.:stupid: It all depends on how I feel at the time.

They Might Be Giants
Musical Soundtacks
Movie Soundtracks
That's all I can think of for right now.
i'm about as eclectic as they come.
my "primary passion" (neat term, huh?) is probably instrumental film music - from the entire history of cinema, favourites being john williams, danny elfman, jerry goldsmith, elliot goldenthal, alan silvestri, james horner, hans zimmer, elmer bernstein, basil poledouris, david arnold, patrick doyle and others. have about 700 soundtrack CD's in total.
i enjoy musicals - from the rock opera type a la the who's "tommy" to regular lloyd webber material and the wonderful "chess".
i also like all kinds of classical music, which is a close relative to film music, obviously.
then there are various forms of electronica, particularly "pioneering" new age stuff like jean michel jarre, vangelis, tangerine dream, kraftwerk etc., but also more modern techno stuff (not really that "hillbilly" dance music of scooter, though).
i like a lot of jazz 'n funk, from the early cab calloway stuff to more modern things a la curtis mayfield and wynton marsalis.
there's a whole bunch of rock and pop that i fancy, mostly older stuff - like supertramp, alan parsons project, pink floyd, manfred mann's earthband, oingo boingo, santana, 10cc, electric light orchestra, emerson, lake and palmer, yes, king crimson and much more.
i think there's some excellent hard rock out there, particularly things like the delicious rammstein and metallica, of course.
it's probably easier to say what i DON'T like, which includes rap and hip-hop, some of the more extreme speed metal stuff, that modern r'n'b-thingie (i like old r'n'b, though - meaning rhythm and blues), boybands, extreme minimalism (kinda fancy vt-favs glass, nyman and sakamoto, though), cheesy country music and a few more.
