I didn't know Mr. Twitty was a rock n roll star.

I didn't know the "King of Pop" was a rock n roll star either, but considering to OP, that appears to be the case. lol

Personally, I prefer the old school "Rock" stars, Elvis, Dion, Jerry Lee Lewis, Big Bopper, etc. 50's style.

All time favorite band is probably still "The Beatles".

Heavy Metal "Metallica" old school 80's to early 90's.

If I have to pick just one from all time Elvis still wins out, they don't call him "The King" for nothing. Besides, how many famous "rock" stars served in the Army at the height of their popularity, he was humble about his service and a true American patriot!

Mr. Conway Twitty
"I see your used to champagne but I'll buy you a beer,
She played out her fantasy before my eyes it seems,
Partner there's a tiger in them tight fittin' jeans".....twangy guitar riff...
Conway is hard to beat, his hair was perfect, though if he fell over he might crack it.

I'm gonna say Sir Paul McCartney.

The English teacher in me says I need to define terms to continue this discussion. I'd define "rock star" as a solo artist or frontman for a "rock music" style band. Based on that:
- Freddie Mercury
- Joe Elliott
- Pat Benatar
- Joan Jett
- David Lee Roth (hey, it may be cheesy now [perhaps even "back then," too], but he fits the definition)
- Billy Corgan (although, some might say the band isn't "rock" enough)
- Weird Al Yankovic (he fits every genre :p )

From that list, I'd put Queen's frontman at the front, I suppose.

Bon Scott/Brian Johnson - AC/DC
James Hetfield - Old School Metallica
Rob Halford -Judas Preist
Alice Cooper
Ozzy Osbourne - Black Sabbath or solo
Kurt Corbain -Nirvana
Dave Mustaine - Megadeth

I'm kind of an old school metalhead if you hadn't noticed.

- Billy Corgan (although, some might say the band isn't "rock" enough)Why wouldn't the Smashing Pumpkins be considered "rock" enough?

Notice I stated "some" might've thought so; I don't. Some of their later songs, to some former fans, were too "goth" or "electronica" than good ol' fashioned rock. But I never bought that idea.
