Hello,

Currently I'm in the process of constructing the frame work for a large Hoth Rebel base. The size should be around 7 ft high, & 7 ft wide by close to 8 ft long. The base will have multiple levels, an elevator, two large hanger bays, a hoth cantina, a medical center, a command center, with many ladders, catwalks & several other misc items as well. Building supplies are lots of 2X3X8's, a wooded boxed crate used for shipping snow blowers, plywood, plaster cloth, chicken wire, led lights & several house hold items that you would not believe will be incorporated in the base. I will try to include as many figures/vehicles as possible (including prequel) into this base when it's complete. It should take several months to complete & I shall posts some pics tonight of some of the progress I've had in the last two weeks.

That's very cool. So you're going to collage the scenes? The ATAT is going to be displayed underneath the Reb base?

Those are asteroids on top? Cool rocks you found there!

Yeah,

I'm, going to try and incorporate as much as I can into this base. I'm going for a Vintage Hoth look on the top, while the lower level will hold the prequel figures & vehicles. The AT-AT is just there for scaling purposes, other than that it will sit on top of the base ground area when complete along with the others. Those faux rocks (Asteroids) you mentioned are going to be used as mountain pieces once I get the base shell levels complete. I have them placed that way so when you look up inside the base, you will see caverns when it's done. The area with the faux rocks will be the mountain top for the Falcon Hanger, & the other half of the top part of the base (see lower flat section) will be where the rebels & imperials face off. The shell that I have built so far is the easy part, it's the detailing etc (scratch building generators, ladders, elevators & catwalks) that's going to be time consuming. I only work on this 1 hour here & 1 hour there, so it will take quite the long time to finish. Good fun though :)

So I that going to be occuping that room from now on or will it be able to be taken apart? So far it is pretty cool, can't wait to see the progress on that baby. Love Hoth! The coolest battle in my opinion.

It sounds (and looks) really well planned out! It's going to be great to see it develop.

Take your time. Indeed as we've grown up, it's hard to find time for these kinds of projects, but nice to have them to fall back on.

I've got some stuff I'm trying to develop but it will take a long, long, time too.

Gungan Battle

Endor

Kashyyyk

Podrace

Coruscant Speeder Chase

Kamino

I did a lot of the OT in my old apartment before I had a period of hospitalization. Now I'm going to restart in my new place with PT (except Endor is going to be the same as I had it before).

Sometime, years later when I change things again, I'm going to do more OT again with that Naboo scene being an exception.

Mos Eisley

Jabbas

Death Star

Otah Gunga

Dagobah

I'll do one final reset with Hoth and Bespin in the distant future.

It always gives me something to work on.

Yeah,

It's going to take up half of the room from now on, I would hate to have to take it apart once it's finished. The other half of the room will be a movie theater later on. Coolest battle indeed. :)

Here are a couple of updates:
260122601326013260112601126012Here are a couple 260022600326004260052600626007260082600926010

Most are just shots of the various materials being used. (Lights, wire loom, plastic shampoo bottles, dowels, misc toy accessories etc. The light shot is of the generators I am building, they will have green LED lights in the end. The shot with the dowels is part of the X-Wing transom I'm constructing. I've also started on the various levels of the base. i.e. command center, bar, & medical bay). The elevator is pretty much done & the catwalks are ready to be assembled. (waiting on some more parts). Most of it looks like a garbled mess right now, & detailing is so far away that I'm not even thinking about that right now. Cheers for now .

That looks awesome! I wish I had that much space.

I think I do and there are several scenes I may make that large:

Geonosian Arena Battle (I intend to split it in back to back halves though: (A) with the arena beasts (B) when the gunships attack).

The Pit of Carkoon (I am waiting to first see if Hasbro makes Jabba's sailbarge, but I intend for a large pit the skiffs can orbit).

Are you going to have any off-shoot rooms in your rebel base for the bacta tank scene?

Those all sound great Tycho,

I'm hoping for a Sail Barge & Blockade Runner, but I'm not sure where they are going to go. :)

The base has a command center, medical bay (bacta), a cantina/bar & a larger hangar below, just not completed yet. lol

272952729627297272982729927300Pretty darn nice. How much of the playset made it into that? The Luke spire looks very well integrated, that's my favorite part of the work since the spire is very blue and would seem hard to get to work with the white snow.

Very cool!Pun not intended? :p

Just picked up a Second large AT-AT for the battle scene from a neighbour who is moving away. Only paid $40.00. It was missing 1 missile, & 1 lowering harness. Excellent deal IMHO. That makes a total of 5 (3 small & 2 large AT-AT's) for this project. I'm just missing a couple of tactical screens & a few chairs. Should anyone wish to donate, or knows anyone who may have any tactical screens they can part with; or any chairs (12) from the star trek galaxy collection please let me know. Much help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Cool shots, it's really coming along. I'll keep an eye out for chairs and screens, I was just talking with someone about that recently.

Is that the laser ice drill out in the snow in in your last attached thumbnail? And if so, is that from the movie?

Star Trek figures come with chairs. They can be had for pretty cheap.

Awesome:) Thanks

The last two pics from the inspirational photo's show what they call the Hoth tank. I've already constructed one & have a few pieces to apply before it's ready for paint. It's sitting next to my half complete ion cannon & Hoth generator underneath the work table.

The Hoth tank never made it into final cut for the battle from what I was told, it is however in the hangar shots if you look closely enough.

We discovered this 3 years ago in discussion about whether we'd buy one as a toy: http://www.sirstevesguide.com/showthread.php/42097-Would-You-Buy-The-Hoth-Echo-Base-Ice-Laser-Drill

It was used in this pair of promo shots: http://nl.starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Bestand:Laser_Ice-Cutter.jpg
http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080401153814/starwars/images/3/3b/Luke_gunner_01.jpg
And shows up in another shot in the Echo Base hanger: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/File:EchoBaseHangar.jpg

I'm super impressed that you found an image of it on the battlefield, that is excellent. I can't wait to see your completed version, hopefully some of the linked images will help. Using the EU Cloud Car was a very clever choice since it has a similar rounded shape and that front lip, and if you cut away the back you can extend the deck out to the rear edge.

Love the use of what I think is the Complete Galaxy Death Star as the Hoth ion cannon!

I stand corrected,

Another Sheldon moment for the books, I prefer hoth tank :) as it looks like a tank, but alas it's laser ice cutter; so we'll have to go with that. The image on the battlefield came from therpf.com, it's a model replica building site.

Yes the EU Cloud Car was a hard choice to make as I didn't want to remove it from the box in the first place. The main laser cannon (from the larger AT-ST) is situated closer to the front of the vehicle to allow a figure to man the cockpit area. I also used a small box for accessories & 1 laser cannon from Dash Rendars ship for the rear cannon. Needs some paneling on the sides & then it should be ready for paint.

The ion cannon is the complete galaxy death star along with a cashew jar for the base & 1 laser cannon (missile will launch) from a star wars accessory. Needs lots of paneling & paint, but it should look great when finished.

I'd love to get some really good pics of the hoth rebel personnel carrier as that would make a welcome addition as well. See image located in front of Falcon (below cockpit).

The Rebellion didn't care if a laser ice cutter was meant to cut ice, if it could kill Imps, they'd use it as a tank.

TheRPF, if they had more organization I'd check them more often. It's a heck of a find.

Yeah, the personnel carrier is one I'd really like to see Hasbro do, and they obviously won't after taking a bath on the ANH personnel carrier they did, so looking at customs is the next best thing. The funny thing is, from that shot Hasbro's made everything but that personnel carrier.
